I had heard so many good things about Pollo a la Brasa, so I finally decided to give it a try today. Starting with the positives: the food is delicious. I ordered the quarter chicken with rice and salad, and I was really impressed with the portion sizes. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and gave me the kind of authentic Latin food vibes that I love. The sauce was definitely the highlight for me--it was so good that I found myself adding it to every bite. The prices are also fantastic. For the quality and quantity of food you get, this place is truly a gem. That said, there were a couple of downsides. The restaurant itself is very small, with limited seating available. The customer service also wasn't the best during my visit. Since the dining area was completely full when we arrived, we decided to place our order to go. While we were waiting for our food, a table opened up, so we asked if we could sit down and eat there instead. We were told that because we had ordered our food to go, we were not allowed to sit in the restaurant. I found that a bit disappointing, especially since we had already paid for the same food as everyone else dining in. Overall, the food was excellent and definitely the reason I would come back. The chicken was flavorful and moist, with excellent dark and white meat, and the portion size was very good. I wasn't sure what to order as a side, but the recommendation was fries and salad. I switched to rice and beans, and I'm so glad I did! The sides were both pretty good. I especially loved that the beans came in a separate container and had bits of meat inside. The rice was also nice, with a medley of corn, carrots, and peas. The biggest surprise was the salad. I'd heard people on Yelp recommend it, but it's not common to find a salad at a chicken joint, especially one with avocado, beets, and a slice of fresh, crisp apple. The tomatoes were very juicy, and I'd pay for this salad on its own. The orange dressing is the icing on the cake; it's so good! I appreciate that they provide a bottle of aji sauce when dining in. I also asked for extra orange and green sauces to go with my leftover chicken, and they were happy to accommodate. Don't order the fries! This place used to be a regular for me, but after tonight, I'm done. I called ahead fully expecting a long wait -- 1.5 hours was fine, I planned dinner around it and had no problem waiting from home. After 10 minutes of repeatedly phoning, someone finally picked up and confirmed the wait. No issue. The problem started when I tried to order -- I was ready to spend almost $75+. I asked for all white meat on my first 1/2 chicken plate. The person on the phone snapped, "No ma'am, we can't do all white." When I asked why, given that I was willing to wait and pay for it, they just repeated, "I'm NOT going to give you all white." Wow. I've been a loyal customer here. I've tipped the staff, stayed patient through long waits, and treated everyone kindly. The dismissive attitude tonight completely turned me off. I always see customers going in and out (and a HUGE line during holidays), but I finally committed to coming here on Friday night. First, the parking is really limited, but there is some spots outside (very hard to get in and out of if you have a bigger car) and some limited street parking (also pretty hard to find if you go during peak times). I would recommend either going during non peak times or bringing someone else along. The restaurant is pretty small inside and there is limited seating. I think it is more of a pick up and go kind of place. I decided on a whole chicken and fries. Since I came close to closing, they said it would be about a 20 minute wait, which was OK with me. There are plenty of stores next block over that I wandered around in. I did do a take out since they were closing. The chicken was very good and juicy. I really enjoyed the flavors. I was not a huge fan of the green sauce, but it gave a good kick to the chicken. Also, they gave me rice instead of fries, which sucked because I was really looking forward to the fries. Hidden gem!! I am so glad my family and I stopped by this little corner store. I really underestimated the flavors. The chicken is tender and falls off the bone with amazing seasoning that gets fired in the big rotisserie oven. It is quite warm inside because of the chicken being cooked to order. We ordered half a chicken and the rib eye. The rib eye was nicely cooked and not tough. It is quite hard to cut with a plastic knife tho. You come here for the chicken. The wood-fired, smokey, tender, juicy, and delicious chicken. Was it the best chicken that I've had in Los Angeles? Probably not. But it was very satisfying, deserving of its top-tier rating, and made our longish trek to K-town worthwhile. I always call ahead because after 4:30PM, they're just so packed with orders. And even when you call ahead, it's usually 45 - 60 mins before it's ready. The cilantro chile sauce that they give you, the spicy green Aji sauce perfectly compliments the chicken. I used to only order half a chicken but after the first time he had it, S said we had to order a whole chicken every time because he couldn't stop eating it.
