Small little shop that's always bustling with business. No frills and the kitchen staff are always firing on all cylinders. I got chicken, rice, and beans. The chicken is white meat, but mine came a little dry for my taste. The skin was the best part - well roasted and flavorful. The black beans were decent, the rice was good. I did have to wait half an hour on a weekday in between lunch and dinner (when it was "less" busy, but less is relative - this place is always busy) so I walked around and did errands. The chicken was flavorful and moist, with excellent dark and white meat, and the portion size was very good. I wasn't sure what to order as a side, but the recommendation was fries and salad. I switched to rice and beans, and I'm so glad I did! The sides were both pretty good. I especially loved that the beans came in a separate container and had bits of meat inside. The rice was also nice, with a medley of corn, carrots, and peas. The biggest surprise was the salad. I'd heard people on Yelp recommend it, but it's not common to find a salad at a chicken joint, especially one with avocado, beets, and a slice of fresh, crisp apple. The tomatoes were very juicy, and I'd pay for this salad on its own. The orange dressing is the icing on the cake; it's so good! I appreciate that they provide a bottle of aji sauce when dining in. I used to live near Pollo A La Brasa, but finally got to try recently. I always see customers going in and out (and a HUGE line during holidays), but I finally committed to coming here on Friday night. First, the parking is really limited, but there is some spots outside (very hard to get in and out of if you have a bigger car) and some limited street parking (also pretty hard to find if you go during peak times). I would recommend either going during non peak times or bringing someone else along. The restaurant is pretty small inside and there is limited seating. I think it is more of a pick up and go kind of place. I decided on a whole chicken and fries. Since I came close to closing, they said it would be about a 20 minute wait, which was OK with me. There are plenty of stores next block over that I wandered around in. I did do a take out since they were closing. The chicken was very good and juicy. I really enjoyed the flavors. I was not a huge fan of the green sauce, but it gave a good kick to the chicken. Also, they gave me rice instead of fries, which sucked because I was really looking forward to the fries. This place is located on the busy streets of Western and 8th. Getting there from anywhere out of Korea town is a nightmare and don't get me started on the parking. Hidden gem!! I am so glad my family and I stopped by this little corner store. I really underestimated the flavors. The chicken is tender and falls off the bone with amazing seasoning that gets fired in the big rotisserie oven. It is quite warm inside because of the chicken being cooked to order. We ordered half a chicken and the rib eye. The rib eye was nicely cooked and not tough. It is quite hard to cut with a plastic knife tho. It came with chimmichuri sauce, but we all felt that it just tasted of oil and no herbs. The rice was cooked well and the beans were very flavorful! You come here for the chicken. The wood-fired, smokey, tender, juicy, and delicious chicken. Was it the best chicken that I've had in Los Angeles? Probably not. But it was very satisfying, deserving of its top-tier rating, and made our longish trek to K-town worthwhile. We called ahead and were told that it'd be at least an hour before our two 1/2 chicken meals would be ready. So I was surprised to find that the place wasn't busy when we arrived. I'm pretty sure they are cued to finish the togo orders once the customers get there. Not a huge issue though, we only waited about 10 minutes once we got there and paid for our food. We did arrive over an hour after calling to order. I get why they do it this way if there's a large backlog of orders. Good to know in case we come back and call ahead again. The sides? They're fine. I always call ahead because after 4:30PM, they're just so packed with orders. And even when you call ahead, it's usually 45 - 60 mins before it's ready. The cilantro chile sauce that they give you, the spicy green Aji sauce perfectly compliments the chicken. I used to only order half a chicken but after the first time he had it, S said we had to order a whole chicken every time because he couldn't stop eating it. Funnily enough, our cat also goes crazy when she smells the chicken. She probably will also say that it's her favorite chicken as well. So far, I've stuck to ordering only the chicken because their sides are very hit or miss. Went for the first time today. I got the 1/4 chicken dark meat, rice and beans. I knew that it could take a while for the order, and they were true to form. It took about 15 or 20 minutes to get my food after ordering. I waited inside and breathed in the wood smoke. The chicken was good, but the skin was not as crispy as I was expecting after reading the reviews. Next time I want to try the fries, which are supposed to be good. At 1 PM on Labor Day Monday, there was a constant line. About half the people are getting orders to go. The other half are jostling for the 6 or 7 tables. GOOD NEWS: they have location in Gardena, CA! *Pro tip* the owner suggested "STREET" parking instead of their tiny 5 car maximum lot. If you park in the private front lot, you most likely will be "blocked in" when leaving; you will. And backing up in "reverse" onto 8th street speeding heavy traffic is NOT fun.... Not to mention street/residential parking is impossible! My suggestion? Bring a friend/spouse/ anybody that can drive to circle the block or find a nearby business parking lot and buy something small there so you can park- then walk to Pollo A La Brasa- Western. Every celebrity chef in town and Food Network star "Marcus Samuelsson", LOVES it here. Ok great, but my question is where the "expletive" do they park? Anyhow, the food is VERY good and inexpensive . Expect a 30 to 60 wait time.
