    Sardine Sandwich
    Brian W.

Came here on a weekend for a quick bite to eat while exploring noho. For about $13, this sandwich was pretty filling and not too fishy, which was a plus. There were also no bones, which was great, though I wish there was some sort of dressing or more oil and salt in the sandwich. The fish itself was plump and substantial, and the veggies tasted fresh. The bread was also hearty, but it felt like it was missing something, maybe acid or fat. Oil or lemon would have been a nice addition, but it was still a solid meal for an afternoon of walking. The staff was also very friendly, and the restaurant inside was nice and cozy. Though we didn't eat inside, I did notice that the air conditioner wasn't quite working and it was a bit warm inside, but it didn't affect us so much since we ordered to go. They also had a nice display of desserts at the register that I'd love to try on another trip back here!

Nice meal that was quite filling -- the dolma (grape leaves and salad) had delicious beets, the tagine with chicken was hearty as was the Moroccan platter with lentils & lamb. We ordered and they brought the food out to us -- and then we bused our table. Because it was nice out, we ate outside. Overall, the prices were reasonable -- though I could have appreciated a bit more service.

Amanouz is a cute little restaurant right on main street in Northampton. It's counter service, so you order at the counter and they'll bring the food out to your table. You also bus your own table! I had some chai, which they bring in a cute silver teapot. There are a ton of veggie options to choose from. I had the falafel pita, which was yummy and filling. I also tried the almond baklava, which I had never had made with almonds before but it was sooo good. Other people ordered dishes with meat and said they were tender and well seasoned. I would definitely come back here! It's a cozy and affordable local spot. I would definitely come back here!

For yeeeeears, I passed by Amanouz Cafe, a casual Moroccan restaurant, when I walked through the Northampton Center. It became harder and harder to walk by as good word of mouth turned into great Yelp reviews. But since I've never lived in the Northampton area, I always stuck with my favorite spots. Also, Amanouz Cafe was often very busy. I finally visited for a late lunch last weekend. Although I liked portions of my meal, I suspect Amanouz Cafe was having an off day. There were three issues with my experience. First, I ordered a chicken tagine, and they gave me lamb tagine. Because the lamb was covered with stuff, I didn't even notice until I had a few bites of the non-meat parts. I was in a hurry and I like lamb, so I just kept it. I noticed that there were mix ups with orders at a couple other tables while I was there. Second, the texture of the bone in lamb was tough. It seemed overcooked, but perhaps it was a tough piece as well. Third, my table was cleared, but it hadn't been cleaned. I ordered and paid at the counter, and then I chose a table. Only one table had a bit of separation from other guests. After I sat, I noticed food patches had been left on the table. Notwithstanding these hiccups, I saw enough that I would return. The rest of the tagine, which is essentially a stew with peas, olives, onions, dates or figs, etc., was very good. It was well seasoned. Warm flavors. Slightly sweet. Service and the atmosphere were both fine. I've got to give 3 Stars based upon my experience, but I definitely plan to give Amanouz another chance.

    Coconut water, Babaghanoush Sandwich

Service was quick, but 1. They charged $5 for a small box of coconut water. Which was visibly the Costco brand-- in other words, it was obviously much cheaper in bulk than what they sold it for. Should've been more like $2 max. 2. The baba ganoush sandwich was absolutely not worth it. 40% of it was chunks of lettuce and there was no seasoning other than a metric ton of black pepper that drowned out even the faintest note of the eggplant spread. It was like biting into a can of mace. Baba ganoush is supposed to be smoky and delicious with a bit of tartness, the pepper was not right. So yeah, quick service, but jacked drink price and an unbelievably poorly seasoned sandwich.

    Avocado salad; delicious

Yes we do serve halal meat thank you for asking

Hi - my takeout order was missing the Scwharma sandwich- how do I get a refund for that? Thanks

I was there only once, i think the best approach would be to go in person and explain what happened. They are very friendly

Believe the hype, even if the surrounding neighborhood doesn't seem the most inviting; the food is worth it. We walked in probably fifteen minutes before their closing time, and still we were treated exceptionally well by the owner, he really made us feel at home. My goal was to try as many items as possible so we got the fries, the Israeli salad, the original falafel sandwich, and the lentil soup which we all sampled off each other, and there really wasn't a single item that we didn't love. The star however was the falafel sandwich. It was incredibly flavorful, full of the Mediterranean spices you'd except from an authentic dish that hasn't been toned down to cater to the american palette, and I loved it; every single bite. I have to add that even though I didn't load a picture of it, I had also ordered the house made chai latte which the owner was kind enough to add almond milk instead of dairy, and that too was really good, I recommend that as well. For me, the cherry on top of this wonderful food experience was that they have games; yes like board/card games. My brother and I relived our youth playing connect four while we waited for our food, and I can't reiterate enough what a wonderful experience this was and I definitely plan to return.

Eating in their food area, making a food order with their cashier, or even using their digital menu, all are friendly, comfortable, and accommodating. They serve halal meats, too, which eases my conscience and my ordering options from their menu, including fresh and crispy french fries. What sets this place apart from a local or fast food burger joint, however, is the love for the experience of their food that Royal Chicken & Kebab offers. Receiving your food order from them is a delight. From the way each meal is wrapped, boxed, or sealed, to the way their burgers and subs look unwrapped. I recall the days I used to enjoy a messy local Philly Cheesesteak sub at whatever local sandwich shop I would be at, where the price wasn't about the love and care specifically, as there needed to be an overwhelming level of meat--like, get yourself dirty on a date level as the wrapper was soggy and flowing with cheese. That is part of a local Philly cheese experience, and here, I felt the love for the flavors brought to a wider community, if not the whole world. Here, our local cooks and chefs still make a sub full of steak, cheese, and peppers, but just enough to fit neatly and appealingly within their foil wraps. Each bite of the slightly warm and crispy bun reveal to me how much I still love the flavors of the experience, and don't need the sub to be my only sustenance. You can get your meal with a side of fries and a drink, for example. Royal Chicken & Kebab has a welcoming atmosphere, attention to detail in the quality of their meals, and has yet to let me down in price or service. I could see anyone, from families, to groups of friends late at night enjoying a meal here. Thank you for your work, Royal!
