I recently had a HydraFacial here and it was an excellent experience. From the start, Tamara was very thorough and professional. She asked thoughtful questions about my skin and explained the treatment so I knew what to expect. What stood out to me most was her technique and attention to detail. The exfoliation and extraction steps were done carefully and effectively, and she made sure my skin stayed comfortable throughout the entire treatment. Recently visited in celebration of my boyfriend's birthday. Unfortunately we were both left feeling dissatisfied with our experiences. I communicated with Tonya for booking and decided on the 90 minute premium couples massage, and Tonya noted ten minutes would be designated for scalp massage (since the moisturizing scalp massage was unable to be booked separately). This package notes the options to choose between vanilla coconut shea oil or Moroccan oil. I specifically chose this package for the Moroccan oil, to make the experience more luxurious for my boyfriend. When we spoke with our massage therapists I wanted to confirm the selected oil, the therapists then notified us that there are no such oils available and they use a standard vegan lotion for all massages. This immediately was disheartening and felt like false advertisement. Unfortunately, the massages themselves were also disappointing. Both of us felt our respective therapists did not dedicate time to the spots we requested, we both felt they carelessly massaged our legs / feet (barely using pressure), and they did not provide the 10 minute scalp massage (which is the only reason I selected the 90 minute massage as opposed to 80 minutes, because Tonya convinced me this was a good alternative). I do get bi-weekly massages so I am accustomed to what the experience SHOULD have been like. Sadly this was very disappointing and I would not return nor recommend. EDITED AFTER OWNER RESPONSE: Tonya, this is false advertising. Your website clearly states the oil options under the premium couples massage package. From the moment we checked into the spa Tonya and her staff was warm, welcoming, professional and genuinely focused on providing an exceptional experience. Lovely little spa and the perfect sanctuary for your wellness. They have a long list of massage and treatments (see their website) but seems like massages and facials are their thing. My therapist was the famous Shatki and all the reviews did not exaggerate her magical touch. She was both strong and soft with her pressure, and knew exactly where I needed what. I combined a massage with reiki (my first time) and it was wonderful. I don't know what reiki is or supposed to do because I've heard different results for everyone so I can't speak to that part of my session. I left feeling rejuvenated! read more

Booked a last minute prenatal massage at Signature Day Spa. It was very easy to call them to set up an appointment. You can go with the given time periods on their website (60, 90 min etc) but they can easily customize a session for you. Upon arrival, they offered water to you in the lobby. My masseuse brought me to a room and checked my belly size and asked if I had any physical sensitivities or areas to avoid massaging. She adjusted the pillow on the table to make sure I was comfortable. I went with a 60 minute massage and it was so relaxing! I also work at an office job and had her focus more on my upper back and shoulders. I definitely got a lot of knots out and my pregnancy aches eased up. This was a little splurge but it was worth the treat while I was baby mooning in the area. read more

I happened to be staying at La Playa Hotel and walked in on a whim. The spa itself is calm, beautiful, and inviting. I browsed around looking at what brands they carry and looking for hair clips because my bangs were curling in the rain. The lady at check in was super nice and had the perfect little clip. My friends and I had a terrible experience here. We booked foot massages, received foot massages, and then were charged for 70-minute deep tissue massages we never requested. When we questioned the bill, the gentleman at the counter was condescending and dismissive. We were also charged a "group rate" even though we were in separate rooms with different masseuses, which made no sense to us. On top of that, they automatically added a 20% gratuity simply because it was labeled a group rate. The ladies ahead of us were told they had to pay a 20% gratuity because they booked more than one treatment. From what we witnessed, it seems like they tack on a 20% gratuity no matter what you book, without being upfront about it. The masseuses were sweet and did a good job, but I don't think any of us would've paid a 20% gratuity generally The friend who was treating us felt overwhelmed and pressured, so she put the whole charge on her card -- and the total came to $792 for four foot massages. When she later called the owner to clarify the situation, the owner was rude, combative, and offered no apology or accountability. This was our experience, and we strongly suggest avoiding this place. Run to Happy Feet Day Spa instead -- they treat customers with respect and offer fair prices. read more

Wow! My grown kids gave me a gift certificate for a treatment and when I called to schedule I was told that there was no proof via order # and therefore they wouldn't honor it. My daughter sent a screenshot of her credit card charge and the owner (Tanya) said there was no way to prove that it was valid! We were repeat clients, btw, and live locally. The charge was for $318. Tanya wanted me to know that they service over 30,000 clients a year which seems a bit exaggerated (82 people a day 365 days a year? in this town?) and that they don't need to deal with me. I was pretty shocked that they didn't offer any sort of solution, but even MORE shocked when I got on this website and saw that there were numerous complaints from other clients about the EXACT SAME THING! So apparently this place is taking money from people and then denying them service. Just avoid it at all costs. read more

*GLOWING SKIN - GLOWING REVIEW* I try to get facials at least twice a year if not more. Not necessarily enough but works for me. As someone who's been blessed to have pretty clear skin, it's been particularly aggravating to have been dealing with adult acne for the past 5+ months. HydraFacials seemingly popped up on my radar out of nowhere around the same time I began experiencing acne issues. After a bit of research I decided it was something I wanted to try out, however, am always a bit skeptical about "the next best thing". A HydraFacial seemed to be what I needed, but, on top of being skeptical about actual results, I was hesitant to have the service completed at a larger spa or chain spa bc I just didn't feel like I'd get the same results as I may with someone who owned their own shop and had a little more rapport with their clients. Well, after months of breakout after breakout, my face is just starting to clear up but now I have dark spots and hyperpigmentation to deal with on top of the residual acne (if there's such a thing). I finally decided to pull the trigger and just give it a try. ANYTIME I'm looking for something, whether it's a service or a restaurant, Yelp is my go to. The Signature Day Spa came up towards the top when I searched for "HydraFacials" in my area and after reading the reviews I was basically sold - plus, it's in Carmel-By-The-Sea, who doesn't love it here?! So, I followed up my Yelp search with a Google search and the reviews matched what I saw on Yelp. After checking out the website I called and was able to get an appointment the next day (today) and I was hoping that I would get scheduled with Tonya bc all the reviewers kept commenting on how awesome she was...I later realized she's the owner. It's a quaint and cozy location with a very warm and inviting ambiance. Be sure to accept the complimentary glass of wine . My visit was great! It's typically readily apparent if someone "knows their stuff" or not and Tonya knows her stuff! Tonya even helped me to pinpoint the cause of my breakout - something that had been driving me crazy as I couldn't explain why I'd gone from clear skin to this speckled mess! She's got a very vibrant personality and you can tell she has a genuine passion and love for her line of work (to which she will tell you the same)! All in all a top notch visit. On top of breaking out, my skin has been dry and dull. She will tell you that over the next 24 hours, the results will become even more apparent which seems a bit counterintuitive at first but it's true! When I walked out my skin felt better and had a glow to it. About an hour later, as I was walking back to my car I stopped from my reflection because of how radiant my skin looked - after only one treatment! My husband also struggles to find someone that can actually do a deep massage- and Jose was the man! The massages themselves were amazing. In regards to overall experience, it was okay.
