If you're looking for great Thai food in the south Loop... look no farther. Amarit Thai was recommended from the concierge at the Blake Hotel.. What a wonderful recommendation. When we arrived, it was not busy for a Monday night. We had the sampler as a starter: Crab Rangoon, chicken, potstickers, chive dumpling, shrimp cake. We were not disappointed with the sampler, and we were quite surprised by the chive dumplings. I've never had that before, and it was quite good. The sampler was served with both a sweet sauce and a soy sauce to complement the flavors. The appetizer was very filling, so we decided to split a Chicken Pad Thai, the portions were large and quite satisfying for two. The rice noodles peanuts sprouts, and chicken was right on target. This was a quite good Pad Thai. We decided on medium spice and for myself it was a good balance of flavor and spice, however, for my wife, it was slightly hotter than she would normally have ordered. But she said it was still delicious. To complement dinner, I had a "Chang Thai beer". I would recommend it as it is a crisp, well balanced light lagger. Stopped in for dinner after touring downtown Chicago. Wow what a freat spot, friendly staff, quick service, clean and delicious food. We did a half cubs roll along with a hawks roll. Both were really good. We also had an appetizer of the fried chicken wings with sweat and sour sauce. Piping jot and super crunchy. For the main course I went with the pepper steak. The steak was good quality not the chewy stuff you get at some other places, great flavor. My wife did the ginger chicken and she loved it. Our friends went with pad Thai and chicken curry. From the outside, it's an unassuming place and I passed by it many times without really noticing. But Inside it's lovely! It's spacious, pristine, quiet, and relaxed. Friendly and attentive service. I appreciated the variety of Thai dishes and sushi options. I enjoyed the rainbow roll. My Thai iced tea was delicious. My boyfriend enjoyed his duck entree. A nice, quiet Thai restaurant with quite an extensive menu. I definitely will be making this my take out place for Thai food in the loop / downtown area however I do not think I will be dining in much. Overall, the service seemed rush and our server seemed to be getting impatient which made the dinner a little less enjoyable. The food was good, but could have been better as I had asked for spicy fried rice and gave a scale for reference but they still came out standard. The rest seemed to be pretty good authentic Thai food. Price can be a little steep for some of the dishes. Hoping to go back and try some more dishes some time. read more

I visited the restaurant and was deeply concerned about the lack of hygiene professional standard. During my visit, I observed issues, e.g., staff handling food without gloves, going here and there not washing hands. The dining area was also poorly maintained e.g., tables were sticky and utensils were visibly dirty. Furthermore, the service was unprofessional, when I brought these to the concerns to the employee's attention, the response was dismissive/rude. Even they treat the door dash, Uber and other drivers very rude and unprofessional mannered. Taking yoga training on Michigan Avenue. This is a bit of a walk but definitely worth it. The food is always top-notch delicious clean healthy and the atmosphere is nice too. If you want to sit and eat your food inside money well spent always left. Feeling great. remember, it is a type restaurant so if you have peanut allergies, always mention no peanuts or peanut oil. They will accommodate you if they can. Somethings are made ahead of time so they cannot do it for everything but again this is downtown Chicago. Most places can accommodate reasonably please be considerate of the time when you call as they might have a lot of orders at one time, they're really good about getting orders out quickly and accurately. read more

I've visited a couple of places with my caregiver within the past six years. I still have the same problem. I have a few associates who rave about the food and I try Shrimp fried rice just to break the ice. I prefer Chinese (SFR). I wasn't rude so my bought it and my caregiver had a nice experience. The last thing I ordered was fried shrimp. The shrimp was only battered and sent my table. I asked the waiter for a carry out. I rinsed the the batter off the shrimp. I most definitely recommend going elsewhere for Thai food. I ate dinner here tonight for Christmas. My food, tofu pad Thai, tasted fine. However, luckily, I had less than a five minute walk home, as I barely made it. I got sick immediately after getting home. I think the quantity of shrimp could have been more generous since you are paying a premium on it too. The noodles were well prepared and not mushy by the time they got home which was a bonus. I would've the stir fried noodles to be a little saucier since they were on the drier side. The Fried Bananas were great. It was essentially a thin phyllo pastry wrapped around a banana with some coconut cream and cream cheese inside, and came with a side of honey to dunk the roll in to give it an added sweetness to cut through the savory-ness of the cream cheese filling inside. Pad see ew is phenomenal. It appears to be an average sized portion, yet it feels bottomless! Both times I've gotten it, it took about 1.5 hours to consume, which is great. It's almost magical because it feels like the laws of matter are being violated with the dish. Typically, when matter is displaced from a plate into the digestive system, the matter in/on the plate appears to dissipate. This is not the case with the pad see ew. Service was so fast and they were extremely nice. We ordered to go and they still gave us waters while we waited at the front. The food is the best sushi i've had in Chicago. I cannot stress it enough that every single thing we ordered was perfect. The ingredients are fresh and the ratios within their sushi rolls are spot on. They did a great cucumber salad, while still adding a twist to make it their own. I also had the crispiest shrimp roll i've ever had and mango sticky rice that was to die for. I haven't had any opportunity to visit this location in years but my server (the owner) gently reminded me of her previous location in Chicago's Coast on Dearborn Street and immediately my memory was jarred. This particular location is convenient if you live in Printer's Row (South Loop) and the menu is diverse featuring traditional Thai curry dishes, noodle entrees, wonderful soup and various seafood options including sushi and sashimi. I chose the seafood soup which is primarily broth, mushrooms, mussels, shrimp, squid and a variety of onions and lemongrass. If you're not feeling well I highly recommend you order their specialty soups because you'll instantly feel better because of all the ginger and other herbs used that make these broths so flavorful. Another must is ordering the Thai ice teas and Thai iced coffee it's one of the best in Chicago and tasty like a dessert. The restaurant itself is cozy and laid back with plenty of booths by the window if you enjoy people watching. I remember visiting here in the summer years ago and enjoying outdoor patio seating so I hope they bring that back this summer so I can relax outside with my mountain dog If you love Thai cuisine in a non fussy setting you will definitely appreciate this independently owned family restaurant. read more
