Great little coffee shop - Nitro coffee on tap! I had a frozen coffee drink and it was delicious.

I'm not much for drinking coffee, but I have to say that I'm impressed with this shop. They seem to carry an impressive selection of coffee, teas and chocolate from Latin America, South America and Africa. They also have a nice bakery selection, as well as some good Latin grub! A small local coffee joint with a semi friendly staff. Coffee is great & really strong if you like it that way. I gave this place 4 stars because the prices were a bit high for what you pay for. Great Coffee. Is it overpriced? You're in Seaside, everything is overpriced. Is the coffee great, high quality, hell yes! I also tried the bacon, egg & cheese biscuit which was DELICIOUS. Be prepared to wait at peak times but I was there on a Farmers Market Saturday morning that may account for the extra wait. The flavor is well worth the wait and the price. read more

I'm a sucker for the white mochas and I'd have to say this spot has the best white mochas. I tried the iced and the frozen white mocha and enjoyed both. I would have to say with out a doubt beats Starbucks on the tastes test and right around the same price which is unfortunate but coffee is a MUST! read more

We never go in coffee shops but if we did we would go here, anywhere where I can get a glass of vino and an empanada and Pablo can get a coffee and an oat bar is OK by me. I have loved coming to this quaint little coffee place for years now. There is a cute younger woman who works the front counter and makes the best coffee (I think her name was Sunni) Really everything is good from Amavida; they have recently added newer Latin inspired food menu. For being the only coffee shop in Seaside, it's actually really good. I'm kind of a coffee snob so I have to check all of the cool places out wherever I go! I approve of what the sell. It's all fair-trade so you feel even better drinking it. I obviously bought a pound before I headed out and loved it just as much at home! I'll be back tomorrow :) read more

Stopped in for some coffee and breakfast before a fitness class. The line was fairly long in the morning but moved quickly. I had a tasty bacon, egg and cheese on a biscuit. The iced coffee was strong but not bitter. Seems like a great option for coffee and a light breakfast if you're in Seaside. read more

Amazing service and amazing coffee! Espresso from Ecuador was incredibly good, and the staff was incredibly helpful.

First, the people that work here are coffee evangelists. They not only know their wears and offerings intimately but know how to perfectly describe and advice you as to what you are getting. This was one of the places I wanted to go to during my vacation and it was very impressive. They have some really good quality coffee on top of great food selections. They have Latin food after 11:30 AM which is really good. They have breakfast food in the morning I suggest the egg, bacon and cheese biscuit sandwich it was awesome. You are just steps away from the beach this is a place you have to go to in the morning before you hit the beach for your day. read more

Stopped in after getting some incredible pastries from a vendor at the Farmers market. I will admit upront I am particular about my coffee. That being said, I probably would not go back. The coffee was unremarkable. Did not taste like it was made with fresh beans. It was bitter and acidic. I ended up tossing it after only drinking half of it. What did I order? What I call a red eye. Excellent coffee and very friendly staff. Truly amazed at how polite and accommodating these guys are when it's 630 in the morning and they have been there probably before 5. They are the only local coffee spot open this early... unless you have some connections. There is always a line and people wait outside for over half an hour just to be the first ones inside. I prefer the strongest coffee they have with 2 shots of espresso poured in.... never disappointed. Customer service is exceptional and they can rock out coffee orders with little to no wait. They are truly on their game. The Cubano is tasty, one of my favorites but I stray away from the sweet drinks overall. Located in lovely downtown Seaside it's convenient for all of the tourists to walk to and locals can bike drive and, if you are lucky enough to live there, walk there. After being rather desperate for coffee, we finally came upon this place in Seaside. I was pretty disappointed to be honest. I hate writing bad reviews, but I also hate wasting a lot of money on coffee and hope this will help others. -It was expensive. -It really wasn't that tasty of coffee. I am not a coffee snob, but I am coffee familiar. We roast our own beans at home BUT I am also fine drinking grocery store brands. This coffee was just sort of low-middling coffee, which would not have been a problem if it was not so expensive. It did taste better as it cooled some (different flavor notes could be detected) but still was not worth the price. -The staff was not rude but barely polite--not friendly like I had gotten used to (spoiled?) with every single other food establishment we had visited in the area. Sort of snobby. If this is "Seaside" (as another commenter mentioned), then I am glad we just drove on through and did not poke around like we had planned. I do have to say, though, that the earl grey tea smelled lovely and aromatic. It seemed excellent quality, though I did not taste it. read more

Not amazing. To be fair, there used to be a little Italian coffee shop in the back of seaside that was excellent. It's where I fell in love with iced coffee toddy. It was strong and flavorful. Smoothe, not bitter. Once it disappeared a few years back I went on a hunt for great coffee at the beach. Sadly most of it sucks. I found Amavida two summers ago. Initially it was the best I had found in the area. The barista training just keeps getting weaker and weaker, much like the taste of their coffee. Shop has a nice vibe and look, but the quality of their drinks continues to decline. Not sure why the beach is such a hard place to find quality coffee. read more

Two stars based on the seats. If it's raining outside and you need a hang out. I don't recommend Amavida. No public wifi and the seating... Well let's just say I'd be more comfortable on the hard floor. The (albeit awesome looking) stools were like sitting on half of a stainless steel doctors table with the edges cutting into your thighs. I'm sure it's not so much of a prob most days a year but as I said when you want a hot chocolate, wifi and a comfy place to hang on a rainy day - look elsewhere. read more

The coffee quality appears appropriately high (for the price point), the clientele appears appropriately bourgeois for the locale, and the staff presents as appropriately 'over-it' for all of the above reasons. The place is a great spot to kick back for a few minutes, however the first morning we got coffee it was too strong and bitter for my liking (even with cream). The bacon egg muffin breakfast sandwich was ok, the muffin part was very good, tasted homemade, it just lacked something... could use more meat. The next morning we got french press coffee and true french press should not need cream or sugar, but again it missed the mark for me. Great coffee, tea, and staff! We stopped in one evening to grab a drink and enjoyed it very much. The staff is very knowledgeable and helped us make the right decision when trying new tea. (I stuck to coffee since I'm not much of a hot tea drinker). Regardless, we came back the next morning and got some more! Cannot wait to come back. read more

From the outside, Ama Vida seems like a family friendly neighborhood coffee shop, but the employees that run it made it the last place we'd ever want to come back to. Very disappointed in my few experiences had at amavida. Strolled in with my girlfriend on a hot summer afternoon looking for a nice iced latte to chill me down. So we order, then the worst part of every coffee shop (or so I thought) was sitting there as my mouth waters anticipating my iced latte. Turns out, the worst part is the first sip I take of this horrible excuse for coffee. Funkiest coffee I've ever tasted forced me to request an additional dose of sugar, thinking that would solve the problem. They give it back to me and it only goes down hill from here. Very disappointed, me and my lady will not be returning. read more

When the barista got our drink wrong, they scoffed and refused to make it right.
