In my household we had a cleaning service up to about 5 years ago, then when the economy tanked, we had to do some cutbacks, and did the best we could to keep our house clean. Hilda came out and did a thorough inspection of the entire house and gave us a cost for both first time deep cleaning and monthly maintenance cleaning. The cost was reasonable for both cleaning services. Yesterday Carlos and three ladies showed up - right on time - and worked for almost 6 hours cleaning every nook and cranny, crevice and surface of the house. WOW, what a difference. They cleaned things we never did (too hard to do or too lazy to do it) and made those areas really shine. It was almost like a brand new house (well, other than 22 years of normal wear and tear, of course). Oh, and they rearranged things on some of the flat surfaces to take away the cluttered look, to present a new image in other parts of the house, and some of the clutter was placed into a closet - for my wife and I to actually go thru and decide if we need it or to toss it out. Great extra touches all around. They were very neat, clean and professional in their entire operation. We used them to deep clean our house before moving in..and I was pretty disappointed in the price and the work they left behind for my mother and I to clean up. First off when I first called them, no one called me back. The lady who answered, Hilda responds better via text than with an actual phone call. I finally got desperate since no other place would do the cleaning in such a short noticed that I called her back. She answered and asked to meet at my place the next day for an estimate. I ended up waiting 45 min for her to show up because her "alarm" didn't go off. She gave me an estimate which was higher than any other company I had talked to, but like I said I was desperate and needed someone to come the next day to clean. She met me back at the home after her crew came through..and I was disappointed. There were cobwebs still in the corners of the house, the overhead light fixtures were not cleaned off. There were still grim and dust all over the place and on the doors. The only places I was throughly happy was with the kitchen, the oven and stove (it was SO NASTY) and the bathrooms. I did tell her those are the most important to me, but that doesn't give an excuse for her team to slack off on everything else. Our house was empty when they came through and the floors are wooden (brand spanking new and the guys cleaned up the mess and vacuumed before they left) so I was surprised that the house wasn't amazingly clean. Hilda was fast to respond my request, visit my house for a very competitive estimate and arrange the cleaning as soon as next couple days. I clean my house regularly but needed help with the stubborn kitchen and bathroom mess. It's not a big routine job and a lot of companies I contacted did not care for it. Overall I would recommend giving CHS Sparkleen a try - but prepared to keep on top of the details. When choosing a service, we were looking for a company that would could trust to deliver consistent work that we would not have to check up on. At first, CHS seemed like a winner. The initial deep cleaning was EXCELLENT and far exceeded our expectations. I suppose they would get my highest recommendation when it comes to a "one time" cleaning. The quality of service declined from there. I cannot think of one instance where we did not have to call them following a regular cleaning because they missed something. We were paying extra money for some additional services which were inconsistently completed and often required our involvement to remind them - which is not what we were paying for. We gave them several chances but were ultimately disappointed enough to cancel service. I am giving them 2 stars because the work they are capable of doing is excellent. That said, they are definitely a service you will have to keep on top of to make sure you get your monies worth at each cleaning. read more

We used CHS for about three months to clean our house, and they do an okay job cleaning, but you must be vigilant about the details, as other reviewers have noted. The cleaning became less thorough as the weeks went by. The ladies doing the cleaning were always nice and friendly. Our main complaint was the lack of timeliness with their service. Hilda communicates via text, and there was not a single time when her and her team showed up on time. We would get last-minute text messages informing us that she was going to be late, after we accommodated multiple times to work with her schedule. Her response to our requests for her not to be more than an hour late was that maybe we should find another cleaning service, and we ended up taking her up on her advice. If your schedule is very flexible and the house is available all day, then go with CHS. Households on a schedule should consider another service. read more

One note for potential customers: - Communication is key to a successful client/service provider relationship. Recognizing that Hilda runs a small business and at times you (the customer) will need to communicate over text or move around the cleaning date will happen from time to time. - Yes, you will still need to do a little bit of pre-cleaning and put away your belongings to allow for the crew to get in, and get out. It's best to put away clothing, shoes, and to keep the counters clean yourself prior to their arrival. I called hilda and she was so nice to fit me into her schedule last min, I wanted to surprise my mom with a thank you for watching my babies. I understood when the cleaners didn't show up until 3:30pm after we scheduled for a 1:00pm because she fit us in last min. My parents have a large beautiful home so I just requested that the bathrooms and kitchen were the only rooms that needed attention. There were 3 women and two cleaned the upstairs bathrooms which really the master bath needed more work, it's gotten dusty since my parents don't use the tub. The kitchen has your normal amount of grime and the women spent 3.5 hours cleaning it. Where my one star come from is they didn't clean the floors!!!! Also when I text Hilda to request her service again and to ask if next time they would clean the floors, she responded a few days later with an insult!!!!! She said she was happy we liked her service but her girls were SCARED with how dirty it was!!!!!!! I can't even explain how that makes me feel. I hired you to clean not insult me or my family.
