Chicken Sesame and Beef Chow Foon

It was a very long wait, but it was Christmas so that's kind of expected. It was an hour and a half for to-go. The food was OK, I'll probably go back and try something else, but I wouldn't say anything I had was rave worthy. The sesame chicken was a bit chewy put the beef chow was pretty good but lacked a lot of flavor. Decent portion sizes.

First time dining in at Baoding and it didn't disappoint! The service was prompt and good. I wish the fried rice was more "fried" but other than that everything was good.

I have eaten at Baoding a handful of times in the past few years. I've always enjoyed the food and occasional cocktail. Today at lunchtime I was very disappointed. I asked if they had crab rangoons. The waitress pointed to the wontons. 10.00. I was served tea and water and the wontons arrived quickly. I think there were eight. I ate a few but noticed there was little to no filling in each wonton. I mentioned this to the waitress politely and she said she'd bring two more. They were the same. My bill arrived. 15.00. I'm not sure what else I was charged for. I think it might be for the two "extra" wontons that I expected would be complimentary. I tipped the waitress 20%. Very disappointing to pay that much for a very poor lunch.

The food, service and ambiance here were excellent! There is a large menu with many options. I had the Sesame Tofu and it was delicious! The portions are big.

Chicken fried rice and tofu and veggie soup

2026 Mar 30 Mon: 1) chicken fried rice 2) veggie and tofu soup The fried rice is well cooked with Wok Hei. Soup is just nice and no salty. The cooks are from Malaysia and Taiwan.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Charlotte Beijing duck Haven't tried many duck places, but it's hard to find Beijing Peking duck anywhere. Baoding's decent overall, it still has the crisp and juice String beans with pork The best dish of the night Sizzling Beef Decent balance of sweet spicy and sour Mooshoo Decent, good flavor

I visited the restaurant with some friends for dinner. Service was efficient and cordial. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. I found the food to be just okay. It took me a while to decide what to order. I finally selected the Hibachi Trio with chicken, shrimp, and beef over veggies (onions, mushrooms, broccoli,, and carrots), with shrimp sauch on the side. I give this dish a 6/10. For my cocktail, I ordered the Chinese Fire Cracker (Grey Goose, Alize Red Passion w/Cranberry juice. I give this drink a 10/10. I won't mind another visit and will order something more traditional.

Wow! Boading is incredible. Easy to see why they've been around for over 30 years. The service was easily the fastest I've ever had! The dumplings were amazing and large! Tons of meat in them and perfect temperature. The Beef Chow Foon was also so good and flavorful. TONS of beef included and a large portion that doesn't break the bank. Highly recommend and I will be back.

This place is great. I enjoyed a late lunch with a friend. The service was good and food came out fast! I will definitely be visiting again.

Orange chicken was just okay. A little hard to chew. It came out fast, so maybe it wasn't freshly made or something.

Always my favorite place to go when I start to miss home and need some nostalgia and that home cooked meal feeling. My other favorite (not pictured) includes: Mango or watermelon jasmine tea, beef stew with rice, dan dan noodles, tornado potato, honestly any of the appetizer/street foods, home-made soy milk. I actually loved the bright, comfy vibe of the place. Thought it could use a bit louder music to fill the space. I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles, Rainbow Dumplings and this Mango Jasmine Tea drink...and they were all pretty good. Still, I was surprised how my bill totaled about 35 bucks. Normally, I'm not too surprised by the pricing (even for lunch), but it felt a bit high...given that everything was served on paper and plastic wares. I did like how they have these DIY take-home plastic wares accessible and ready to go...so some points for that! Overall, it's just a casual eatery...not a full scale restaurant. I prefer full scale service, complete with nicely plated presentations, but this type of DIY eatery is just something that's becoming more common.

It was pushing 97 degrees outside, and after a long afternoon of computer work and errands, I finally stopped in for the crispy scallion chicken and pan-fried dumplings. Huge portions. Fair prices. Friendly people. Consistently solid food every single time. The best part today honestly might have been the air conditioning. They've got a cool, comfortable space to wait while your order is prepared, which felt amazing after baking outside all day. I forgot to take food photos because I was hungry and ready to get home, but trust me, they pack these takeout containers like a game of Jenga. Nothing spills. Nothing shifts. Everything is packed tight and thoughtfully. Only tiny downside: the dumpling sauce goes into the same container as the hot dumplings, so by the time I got home, it had softened the bottom a bit. Still, the dumpling wrappers are thick and crispy enough to survive the trip. Into the air fryer later they go. One warning: the parking lot can be chaotic since it sits right off busy Providence Road. Just be patient. Cars are constantly pulling in, backing out, blocking entrances, and today people were absolutely treating red lights like suggestions. Saw it multiple times, including a bus cutting across traffic when I had the right-of-way. Charlotte drivers... please relax a little. That said, the food made the trip worth it. Taipei Express is one of those dependable local spots that always comes through when you need a solid meal without spending a fortune. Life is too short to not eat well. I've been chasing good, authentic (or nostalgic?) Chinese food, and I finally found some while visiting the area. The space is bright, open, and comfortable. Unfortunately, the actual experience was nothing like the hype. First, parking is a nightmare. I would seriously add an extra 20-30 minutes just to find a spot. Once we finally made it inside, we waited another 30 minutes to be seated. After sitting down, it took close to another 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order, and then roughly another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. So you're potentially looking at well over an hour and a half of waiting and inconvenience before you really get to eat. And the dim sum cart that brought us there in the first place? We never saw one. They did have a dim sum menu that we could order from, but that was not the experience being promoted in the videos we had seen. The food itself was just okay. Nothing was terrible, but nothing justified the hype or the amount of time and hassle involved. If you've had good dim sum in places like New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, or San Francisco, this isn't remotely in the same league. Between the parking, the long waits, slow service, missing dim sum cart, and average food, I genuinely don't understand the crowds. Hard pass for us. Once and done.
