They show up, and the tech cannot get the fireplace vent door open so I get another call from the wife asking me how to open the door. Then, they tell me that it's $149 plus $20 per foot of the chimney. That's not what the stated cost was, and the supervisor says "well we charge what we charge." I told him to leave. This is bad faith business, and it wasted a truckload of my time today. This is not how to win projects, and you should not win anymore bids if this is how you choose to do business.

RES installed new HVAC in September 2021. Freezing temps last night and my heat wouldn't kick on…read more Needless to say, it's cold in the house. Literally wearing a sweater and two sweater wraps. New HVAC filter, reset breaker. Thermostat batteries are fine. Still not kicking on. Sent Yelp message to RES because they have always been quick to respond. And they did this time as well and the woman who gave me a call was nice and tried to help. Pretty disappointed that they can't quickly swing by today. From what I've read, it's likely a dirty flame sensor or the ignitor switch (neither of which is a long job - I just don't have the tools). HVAC less than 5 years old, so parts are under warranty with RES; however, I had to call someone else. Bottom line: Someone else is coming today, but I could end up paying for parts. Kind of feels like my current needs weren't lucrative enough for RES to make a concerted effort to swing by.

I really needed my dryer vent cleaned - the dryer was taking two full cycles to dry a load of laundry, so I called Lowe's and they fit me in the very next afternoon. They sent Alex to my house, and he was right on time. Friendly, informative, Alex got right down to business cleaning my very clogged vent. He also showed me pictures of the inside of the duct connecting the vent to the outside of my house, and he speculated that the last company to "clean" the vent broke the duct (he showed me the defect before he began the task of cleaning the vent/duct. I could hear the huge amounts of debris being sucked into Alex's shopvac. He was conscientious about not wearing shoes in the house, cleaning up any bits and pieces in my laundry room, and was just sincerely pleasant and kind.
