They show up, and the tech cannot get the fireplace vent door open so I get another call from the wife asking me how to open the door. Then, they tell me that it's $149 plus $20 per foot of the chimney. That's not what the stated cost was, and the supervisor says "well we charge what we charge." I told him to leave. I hired Eco Green Pro through Yelp to clean my ducts. They quoted $169 for an all-inclusive duct cleaning, but I knew there was a chance the system would need to be sanitized. That turned out to be the case. The technician was also over three hours later than our scheduled time, though he did communicate that he would be late and called me when he was on his way. The technician (not Yuri) who was sent quoted me a cost of $650 for cleaning and sanitizing. I confirmed that this included the duct cleaning, dryer, and sanitization. After I paid via CashApp, he raised the price to over $900. When I expressed my concern, he backtracked. In the end, he agreed to do the work for $650. However, I can only guess because he was unhappy, he did a terrible job. He was there for less than 20 minutes to clean AND sanitize the ducts for the whole property. There is still visible lint in the ducts. When I expressed my concern, he said that's what the price included, was sorry I was unhappy, and left. I messaged the person I'd been communicating with on Yelp requesting a refund. Previously, that person (Yuri Z) had been very responsive but has since stopped replying to my messages. **In response to Yuri's reply, I absolutely did not misunderstand. Like others, I was attracted to the initial $169 offer which seemed in line with others. I anticipated that the rate would go higher because we have 2 systems (Yuri falsely said 3) and we expected more extensive work, including "sanitation." He quoted 3k describing a big job, perhaps several days. I negotiated down to 2.5k. He was done in less than 3 hours. $2,500 for three hours of work. I feel genuinley badly for the honest contractors in DC who would not pull this stunt. Anyway, don't repeat my mistake. Go anywhere else. After Yuri's response, I am even more disappointed by the terrible service of "Eco Green Pro." I absolutely did not "decline" any services! For 2,500 I understood I was receiving all of the services recommended. Also, there were no photos provided and no written report. We work with dozens of home services companies. I used Yelp's feature to find competing quotes for chimney sweeps. Eco Green Pro/DMV Dream Clean had the best rate. Yuri Z quoted me $129. Other competing offers were in the $189 area. Seemed good to me. When the representative arrived he walked inside without using booties over his outside sneakers which I found odd and a little disrespectful. Obviously I imagine the job is a bit dirty so I figured he would clean up after himself. Anyways he made his inspection/review of the chimney and immediately quoted me $350+ for a standard clean and $500+ for a deep clean. I said no thank you I want the quoted price of $129. He talked to his manager, and said okay we can do the basic cleaning for $129 + tax + service fee = $186. There was no mention of a service fee. When I reached out to Yuri about this he said the service fee is only charged if you cancel when the technician arrives. I asked "so I will be refunded?" I did not get a response back and didn't want to wait nor make the on site technician wait any longer so I paid the $189 through zelle. He completes his job but shockingly he did not seem to have the equipment necessary to clean up after himself. I had to provide the trash bag, a broom and vacuum to clean up after him.
