Unfortunately, my experience over the past year caused me to lose confidence in the company. My scheduled maintenance appointment was missed during the confirmed service window, and I had to call to find out what happened. On another occasion, a plumbing appointment was rescheduled after it had already been confirmed, creating unnecessary inconvenience. During a later service visit, I received repair and maintenance recommendations that seemed far higher than what I ultimately found elsewhere. While everyone should get multiple estimates, the differences were significant enough that I decided to seek other opinions. The most disappointing part was the customer service. I completed a satisfaction survey, emailed management twice, and was promised follow-up calls that never came. As a long-time customer, I expected someone to take ownership of my concerns. That never happened. The technicians I interacted with were professional and courteous, so this review is not about them. It's about the company's lack of responsiveness when a long-term customer raised legitimate concerns. After 15 years, I canceled my maintenance agreement and moved my business elsewhere. That's something I never expected to do, but the trust that had been built over many years was lost.

The main problem and downside is that they are very expensive and overcharge. Despite the Yelp page saying that the company provides a "free estimate", I was quoted $49 for the technician to travel. In addition, if I had not chosen to go ahead with the repair, the company would have charged me an additional $150 diagnostic fee. Essentially, despite the yelp profile stating a "free estimate", it will cost you closer to $200 to get a quote. I see this as false advertisement. In addition, when the technician concluded that the problem was the capacitor, I received a final quote of $600. When I googled the price of the same capacitor online, the price range was in between 75$ - 150$. Essentially, they are charging a premium of at least $450 per replacement for a single part (capacitor). Despite their professionalism and quality work, I do not recommend this company for the reasons stated above. If price is not a concern for you, and you would rather pay twice the market value for a job then you should definitely choose them. EDIT: I actually googled the price of a capacitor and offered to buy my own. I was told that by the technician that if I purchased my own capacitor that the company would not install it. In conclusion, they did not address any of my concerns. Unfortunately, after reading the other bad reviews, there seems to be a consistent pattern of discrepancies between what they tell customers and what they instruct technicians to say on site. Making an honest living is so much more rewarding than making it dishonest living.

Picture is what it looked like as I finally made it to my parking spot. 780.00 dollars for what? Replaced water pump myself as the car was now totally broke down and had to replace a clogged up radiator. I am sure more damage due to stop leak installed by shop is yet to come.

The car was driven roughly 10 miles over the last 2 months. I took the car back today and now they said there was a problem with a tire and an axle. Each inspection cost $160. So that is their scam. Just fail one thing after another instead of finding all problems at once. Also, they like to upsell, so be careful.

I would give zero stars if I could. Trying to work with Cool Breeze has been impossible. My HVAC is broken so I have been in sweltering heat for two weeks because this company can not get back to me and can not keep their promises, I am also moving soon and was hoping for the sake of my new renter to get a new HVAC so she can have some cool air. I was originally recommended this place by many people in my building and thought the process would be easy because they already know the type of units in my building and have worked here on countless occasions with positive reviews. This was not the case. I called and was told that they were familiar with my building and wouldn't have to send somebody out for an initial check and that I just needed to send a few pictures of my HVAC unit so they could get me a quote, so I did. I waited a few days and called back for an update, to which they told me they would get back to and that the service provider hadn't looked at the pictures. Then a week goes by with no update, no email, no phone call so I call and email back politely asking for an update and am told by the front desk person that the service provider still hasn't even looked at the pictures and that they promise they will send me an update before COB. Of course, they did not send me an update and broke their promise. So, today I called again this time pretty clearly upset and asked for an update, and why they didn't keep their promises to me. I got fair amount of attitude from the front desk woman who told me the service guy had even been in my area recently but he/she still couldn't be bothered to get back to me. She told me she would get back to me in a few hours and so I waited till the end of the day and called back yet again where she again gave me attitude and told me that she hadn't forgotten about me and would call back at the end of the day, which was infuriating as they had already proven to me that they have a record of not getting back to people and it was the end of the work day. Finally Ron himself called me and asked for the serial number for my HVAC unit because it was missing in the pictures which is again infuriating because a simple 3 second look at these pictures could have told him this a week ago and that could have been conveyed through email EASILY. He told me he would get back to me and he still has not, I called him a few hours ago to no answer. I can not stress enough how upsetting and infuriating this company has been, leaving me and eventually my new renter to sit in 95 degree heat with no response. I have contacted other companies in the hope that they can offer me some help but I am really disappointed in Cool Breeze because they came so highly recommended and let me down every step of the way. read more

My wife and I may be Cool Breeze's new biggest fans! Our condo A/C unit wasn't keeping up with the rising temperatures, so we called them. They sent their field manager Chris out quickly to assess what needed to be fixed with our HVAC. Turns out, we needed to have the a/c and heat replaced. They quoted us a fair price and even gave us a discount. My wife is disabled and cannot regulate her body temperature, and it can get very serious. Because of this, even though they were booked solid for 2 weeks, Cool Breeze moved things around so that it could be installed before the 100° week thats ahead of us. When they arrived to replace the unit, they realized they had made a mistake and needed a different unit because the space was too tight for anything else. The owner, Ron, called me and explained/apologized for the mistake. He said they usually charge $1600 more for the unit we needed than what we were originally quoted for. Instead of asking us to pay the difference, Ron said they would eat the mistake. He said that's the type of company they are. As they were putting the finishing touches on the system, our power cut out. This was not Cool Breeze's fault, just happened at the same time. They stayed almost 2 hours past when they were expecting to be done and called in Chris to fix the problem. He was able to replace a part in our circuit breaker that could have caused a fire. Thank God for Chris and Cool Breeze. You saved us completely in more ways than one. My wife and I could not be more appreciative. Huge shoutout to Ron, Victor, Walter, Chris, Danielle (who I called so many times during the process), and everyone else at Cool Breeze. We will not forget the kindness and humanity you all displayed. We know who to call if we ever need more help with our HVAC, and now you do too! read more

Cool Breeze installed a new HVAC system at my home. After the thermostat stopped working, I had four independent parties inspect the installation -- two technicians from F.H. Furr, a technician from McMurry's, and a master HVAC installer with decades of experience. All four were well rated by customers and reached the same conclusion independently: the condenser unit was installed in a confined space without adequate clearance for airflow or service access. Industry standards and most manufacturer manuals require a minimum of 24 inches of clearance around a condenser unit. Section 306 of the International Mechanical Code also requires that servicing an appliance must not involve climbing over obstructions -- my unit fails both standards. In the DC area, where summer heat is extreme, improper airflow is not a minor issue. When I raised these concerns with the owner, Ron, he was dismissive and personally insulting -- telling me I must be "the kind of person who gets mad when they don't get what they want." He refused to offer any remediation at no cost, threw numerous insults at me, and told me the company had no bad reviews. Four independent professionals. One consistent finding. I have worked with Cool Breeze twice now. The first time, they came right out after a small HVAC fire, fixed the problem, repaired the burned out unit, and got it working again. The second time they came right out when the furnace flue they had fixed was blocked (not their fault); they offered to reline the furnace flue at a very competitive price so I decided to do it. It turned out they seriously underbid the job. They went ahead with it anyway, even though - for various reasons - it turned out to be about 3x as much work as they anticipated. They kept adding crew and worked right through the weekend to fix the problem (a cold front was blowing in) and they got it fixed before real cold set in. I appreciated the crew's dedication, and while some of the problems they faced completing the job may have been self-induced, the key point is that they stuck with it until it was completed correctly. I asked around about appropriate payment for that kind of job, and decided to offer to nearly triple the payment. Ron refused. It's a solid company. read more

People make stuff up on these sites when reviewing products or services. Well, this isn't one of those. This is all 100% true and accurate. My buddy, who knows everyone in this entire area, turned me on to Ron and Cool Breeze after I got irritated with my other HVAC guy. Funny how things turn out cause that guy went out of business. After putting Band-aids on my old split system (AC and gas furnace combo) it finally came time to replace the entire thing. Not a small investment. Ron was awesome to work with and we came up with an option that had great rebates from both manufacturer and PEPCO. We've had our new AC rolling for a few weeks now and I all I can say is wow! This Bryant system is incredible and I actually had to raise the thermostat this thing was cranking out air that cold. Ron and his team at Cool Breeze are a friendly and trusted provider who know what they are doing. It's a sole proprietor which I love. No big name chain operation for us. I have used Cool Breeze for the last 20 years in my house. Cool Breeze has installed a high efficiency furnace and a/c. I've used them for plumbing needs related to my hot water heater and they have also serviced my dryer venting. I had two service calls from this company this week. One was routine maintenance on my furnace and the other was to check on a sump pump. The technician who serviced the furnace has been at my house for the last seven or eight years. He does an excellent job. Recommends small tweaks. That have kept my furnace. Going for 17 years. He's very trustworthy. The plumber, who came out today to check out my sump pump has also been to my house before on other service calls and is very helpful and very efficient. He showed me how the sump pump works and that I didn't need the costly replacement that the original company who installed the pump said I needed. Thus saving me over $1000. They are completely incompetent, both in operations and the performance of their services. They do alot of damage to the home as well because of that. They are slow to respond, even to critical damage they caused through negligence. They also overcharge and are very dishonest. Only worked on HVAC but would guess plumbing is just as bad given the people and everything observed about the company so far. Their install broke down 7 times in under a year, and they did major damage to the house each time, from installation and also during each "repair". Will be reporting them and potentially taking action given the gravity here. Hopefully this spares future victims from experiencing the nightmare of Cool Breeze. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Ron and the gang over at Cool Breeze. I have used them in the Summer for work on my air conditioning, and they came in and fixed the problem within 24 hours. They did not try to up-sell me on anything I did not need. Then, this past Christmas Eve, my heat went out. I have two toddlers in the house and Ron (owner) fit me in an otherwise booked schedule. The control board failed on my furnace, and they replaced it at a lower cost than competitors, and had it repaired in time for me to entertain family for Christmas Eve Dinner. I have used other HVAC services (Michael and Sons, Cropp-Metcalfe) and Cool Breeze tops the list. read more

Cool Breeze is an honest, very reasonably priced company. Ron was flexible and gave us several quotes to choose from, in two brands, since we wanted an efficient system. We had a new HVAC system installed. The guys truly worked hard and went out of their way to make sure it all worked properly. They spent all day, and came back the following one. They had to keep running up and down the basement stairs to fine tune everything. Plus the bonus was their nice, friendly personality and great sense of humor! It all went smoothly. Our HVAC unit drain line clogged and caused an overflow that damaged our flooring. CoolBreeze sent a tech out who did all he could to clear the line, finally believing that the clog must be downstream in the building infrastructure (we live in a highrise condo). After monitoring the unit for a few weeks, it's clear that he did resolve the issue. He also noticed that the sensor that prevents overflows was misinstalled and relocated it to prevent this from happening again. Great job overall and wouldn't hesitate to call them again when needed. read more

Jorge was like an artist with our pipes. He made small adjustments to leaky valves that we'd dealt with for years -- and now they all work perfectly. Not only did he resolve our issues but he took the time to educate us on how to service them in the future -- and what we can do around the house to take care of the plumbing. Just want to comment about today. Read on if you want. But, know that overall, I highly recommend them While I didn't catch the name of this morning's tech, I have to admit he's partially the impetus for this review. If you get him--he's tall, about 6 feet with glasses and long salt & pepper hair that's in a low bun--just know he's incredibly straightforward and blunt. Our AC hadnt been working for about 36 hours and while I IMMENSELY appreciate his coming out today, when I asked him a question about something our thermostat's been doing he interrupted and said "oh you have the heat on" like that'd been the issue. It wasn't. I had to cut him off and explain the thermostat, installed by Pepco years before we moved in, goes to that first before you click the button one more time to get it to AC. How did he not assume that? He went outside to check our actual AC unit and then came back around, saying "you've got a bad compressor". When I asked if that was an easy fix, because I didn't know, he scoffed and said "yeah, i've got one in the truck. Same blunt, kind of dismissive "why don't you know that" tone. Sorry for asking, yeesh.

Avoid Rod Miller. My experience was terrible. I am 74 yrs old sweltering in heat in Chevy Chase…read morew/ a dead A/C unit. I needed a new HVAC unit asap in my high rise condo. I called them. I made a decision to purchase, then next day the sales person called me and tells, "someone else bought my unit!" A larger company bought up stock. I make another decision on a different larger HVAC unit, (more expensive hmmm). I call the VP ( Brandon Tolbert) for reassurance this "disappearing unit" will not happen again...and he SHOUTS at ME, and insinuates things I never said. Unbelievably unprofessional and abusive. I told him to stop shouting at me, saying untrue things.....he does not listen. Mr Tolbert, lost his temper and HUNG UP on me! WOW I'm so happy this miserable customer service experience happened before I could buy from Rod Miller. I can only imagine how they treat people when the HVAC unit goes bad. Too bad, Daddy Tolbert is the President...and his son is VP wand will probably never be held accountable for his actions with customers.

He took the time to talk through the situation, in no way pressured us on an upsell, and cared about doing the work in a safe and professional manner. We called around to several places and there was another company that was cheaper but I am soooo relieved that we went with Gary P. Frank. I would recommend them highly. And I haven't worked with any of their other technicians, but you'll definitely be in luck if you get James.

A request this winter for routine furnace check up couldn't be scheduled until four weeks later. At that time also asked for an estimate for furnace replacement for which a tech was available the same day. Tech promised to send us a quote that night - the quote never arrived despite multiple requests. The tech who came out for the routine check up verified our observation that the control panel of the humidifier was not working and promised to send us a quote for replacement. Guess what - quote never arrived. We paid $205 + credit card fees for the visit but never received a statement of work or even a receipt. On the plus side the techs come out at the scheduled time, seem knowledgeable, and behave professionally. Too bad they don't have time to send out promised quotes!

Our 2 year old water heater was malfunctioning due to a faulty mixing valve. The hot water would…read morerun out after just a 10 minute shower even when the facet was turned all the way up. We used the builder's plumbing company who installed it to perform replacement. 2 years later, the same problem occurred again and we decided to try someone new - Michael and Son. What a joke! Their technician came out and started to push for tank replacement or flushing service with extension tank replacement for almost $1K. This figure included the diagnosis fee of $174. I knew something was off so I paid him the $174 and sent him off. Before his left, he asked me to open my phone, click on the link he sent, STARED at me and my phone to give him a good review. I gave him a 5 and deleted the review after his departure. Then I started to look for a new company and examined their online reviews more carefully this time. I was a little skeptical about Potomac HVAC's reviews originally because it had so many 5 star reviews which is hard for me to believe. Well, I stand corrected. Mike showed up within 2 hours and I jumped into discussing system replacement cost. He was honest, friendly, respectful, and professional. He said he liked to make money but it wouldn't be the best choice. He adjusted the mixing valve FOR FREE!!!!!!! Michael and Son charged me $174 for diagnosis and did nothing. What a scam! Just like many reviews you see here. I can confirm Mike deserves a 5 star rating. I would have given him 6 star if I can.......
