I'm going to put this out there: I'm not a huge fan of Jeff Bezos or the Amazon Empire. But I AM a fan of grocery shopping. I love the various products, coupons, comparing ounces to price for the best deal... all of it. I know, I'm weird. That being said, even my Amazon 'meh' reception couldn't keep me from checking out Amazon Fresh: a grocery store straight from Amazon 'in-person' and not secured to internet-land. How does it fare? Living in the Noho Arts District in the same apartment for almost 12 years (at the time of this review) means I have seen the gentrification that has taken over literally in my front and back yards. Knocking down buildings to build upscale apartments and trendy businesses has been the norm here. I watched one of these many, huge-upscale apartment living structures with retailers on the street-level being built for quite some time and it finally opened in 2020. That's where Amazon Fresh comes in. This Amazon fresh is located on Lankershim near the corner of Lankershim/Otsego. Noho residents were alerted ahead of time about the 'hip' new store and the technological experience it will offer: touch screen carts! Alexa in the store! Fresh produce at low prices! Holy crap, I thought! This is going to be amazing! Off I went on opening day (and have been back a few times in order to write an accurate review and not just about opening day kinks). I walk to Amazon Fresh but there is an underground parking structure available and have been welcomed during each visit with upbeat Amazon employees. In fact, they are a bit too amped up like they live on Monster energy drinks but that's cool. The same can be said about Amazon Fresh itself: the store is always packed with hipsters and it has a party energy. Think: uppity Whole Foods crowd but a bit lower on the economic income rung which makes sense for Noho. Amazon Fresh is certainly not for those who like a calming shopping experience. The store IS nice on the eyes with a sort of Ikea-esque look and warm neutral tones and produce that is picture-perfect located immediately at the entrance. The shelves are tidy/neat and high ceilings offer an airy feel. The carts are indeed 'cool' with their touch screens and ability to weigh and count items while inside your cart plus the special extras for Amazon Prime members; but honestly; I haven't been as blown away as I expected myself to be. Notice I mentioned Whole Foods... That is the best way to help describe Amazon Fresh which makes sense being Amazon now owns Whole Foods. Amazon Fresh is like a watered down Whole Foods. Waaaayy watered down like a cheap bar that offers cocktails with more water than alcohol. They carry the Whole Foods 360 brand but overall the selection is very limited. There isn't a lot of each product category and it is basically a small grocery store made to look bigger. Not impressed (again). How are the prices, you ask? Some items are lower than other stores and some are higher. Produce is slightly higher than Ralphs and non-perishables are hit or miss with high and low. The employees are welcoming and kind as I've pointed out; but I've had an issue with the teenager cashiers who clearly just got their first job EVER with Amazon Fresh. They never know what they are doing and ask ME what produce items are because they don't know and seemingly don't know how to look it up! Ridic! Also challenging is the uber modern credit/debit card swiper which can be tricky on how to swipe your card as the slot is almost hidden. Employees have told me that many customers have trouble. So basically, it LOOKS awesome but isn't that easy-to-use. Overall, this baby-watered down version of Whole Foods isn't bad if you want to feel like a Whole Foods hipster on a lower budget but it's not worth the hype. The 'Ghetto Ralphs' on Vineland/Magnolia (which was so named by ALL residents here even though it has undergone a rehab makeover and is actually very nice now) is much better and just a few blocks away. The HUGE new(er) Whole Foods in Burbank is also a better choice. Amazon Fresh isn't a 'bad' spot if you live in the area and want to do a run for a few items but I don't recommend it for your entire grocery tab nor to drive to Noho if not a resident. Sorry Bezos and you commoners easily swayed: I keep it real! read more

My brother wanted to check out the new Amazon fresh on a Saturday afternoon in late December. It is on lankersheim in the new apartment building complex. We parked underground and took elevator up. My sister picked the fancy cart linked to her Amazon card. This store size is smaller than in Woodland Hills. The staff are nice and helpful. The aisles are clean and well stocked. We walked at each aisle to see what is available. There's was lots of Heinz bottles of bbq sauce and ketchup. Some items was cheaper and comparable to other markets. They had sushi, slices of pizzas and sandwiches available. The cashier lines was short and paid very fast. read more

Amazon Fresh offers a good selection of brand, but I find stores like Ralph's, Vons, Albertsons and Stater Brothers to have a larger selection of many different products. The prices are inline with the other larger chain stores, but the prices here compared to Whole Foods is much better. They offer a meat department, deli, produce, bakery, pick up and returns for Amazon, same day delivery (a big plus) along with prepared meals and decent pizza. Done of the products are the basic like soda. They do not carry all of the different flavors since space is limited in the Amazon fresh stores. read more

You may enter the parking garage to Amazon Fresh, off of Lankershim or Otsego. The parking garage was pretty vacant when I arrived here at 11 am--lucky me :) The store is brand new, so everything is nice and shiny. I love a clean & organized store. Prices are very reasonable, and I got a $10 coupon for the next visit. The employees are helpful and are polite. Glad to have this store nearby to mix up the food shopping experience. read more

This place never has more than one cashier available. There's always a super long line waiting to check out. Yet there are a bunch of employees walking around. And when you ask for another cashier they tell you that's not their job. Things are constantly out of stock. The WiFi is trash. Which is especially annoying when you try to use the self checkout carts. I literally had to walk outside to get service just so I could log in to the cart today. And this isn't a first time. When you are returning Amazon packages, they take forever to simply scan your code. Several times I've been the only person in line trying return a package and the worker will literally be sorting packages instead of checking me out. Pro tip: don't make in person customers wait for you to do administrative work. Getting in person customers in and out should be the number one priority. No one waiting to return a package? Then you can start sorting & organizing things. Overall, they need to stop being cheap & hire more staff. And have more of a sense of urgency. read more

Bridget IS the reason I like this Amazon Fresh. She was the cashier that checked us out and she was so nice, so polite to my kids, sooo patient. She was engaged with my conversation... She even added recommendations that were USEFUL. I'm the type that prefers good customer service over price and quality. I'll spend way more if the customer service is up to par. I Even though it's close to where I live, I would always pass this place up. And walk to Ralph's. She's made me change my mind about shopping here more. read more

This was the worst grocery experience. There was a dead cockroach in the plums. Nothing is in stock. And items on the shelf were more than they are on the amazon website; more by a lot! my deodorant is $10.97 online...but $14.99 in the store! I reached for ice cream, but the shelves were so close together, the ice cream couldn't be pulled out because the shelf above it had a ledge for prices that blocked getting what they stocked on the shelf below. No wonder it was the only ice cream in stock. The workers (who are very kind, but) have no idea how the app or carts work, and you have to get on their unsecured wifi to access your amazon account and use any coupons. The aisles are blocked by huge employee carts that you can't get around, and the entrance and exit are one tiny aisle- everyone is crashing into each other. The worst part? going back to my car there was a guy with his pants down (dark black jeans, faded gray/black hoodie- 6/24/25 about 5:12pm. check the security cam) and when he saw me, he wiped something...'slimy' on his pants, pulled them up and buckled his belt, and went into the store.....what did he touch in the store???? a fitting end to the entire experience quite frankly. read more

The prices at this location are much higher than other Amazon Fresh Store's but I guess it's regional-based. There's private parking in their underground parking structure. This store seems smaller than other stores due to the smaller real estate space. As a result, the inventory selection is much less especially with the Amazon shoppers filling up the online orders also. There are definitely less cashier checkout stands and less dash carts available. read more

What a fun shopping experience using the Alexa cart! The store is brand new, clean, and not crowded. You can get in and out pretty fast with their carts that just charge your Amazon account for what you pick. I would like to see more Amazon brands in the store, which they did have some. They seemed like pretty good values, but at times were hard to find for certain items. Will certainly be back! read more

Well, that was fun! I checked out the new store last week. Plenty of crew members on staff to help the first time visitors, like me, get a feel for the interactive cart. I have to say, it was pretty cool. The wave of the future? Very clean, certain things priced better than Whole Foods or Sprouts, a nice experience all around. It is a trifle smaller than a regular market, but found everything I needed. Went during the week and in the middle of the day, so found parking on the street and it wasn't too crowded. I love Amazon Fresh!! Everyone is so friendly and helpful, I almost thought I was at Trader Joe's. All their produce comes in fresh and last long. I also love their hot foods section.... They have a lot of quality food that's already cooked and a bakery as well. There pizza is huge and only $10 to get made fresh with more options than Costco. They even have Frapps you can buy while walking in the store and you don't have to wait in line if you have an Amazon account. You just walk out and the cart scans and pays/scans your items for you. Dogs are allowed as well. The ambiance is clean and we'll maintained. I think it's best to shop at a place with a clean bathroom. They never disappoint. read more

First of all when I come to these reviews, I'm going to come from a place of honesty because the world is full of fake and I think there's a lot of people that is just done with that so with that being said let's get to it. First of all Amazon fresh when it comes to receiving packages, there has crashed!!!. When I first started getting my packages delivered there they had a locker. It was so easy. I was given a code. Just stick your phone underneath that red light and the locker would open you get your package you move on about your day. What has happened now lately, is that first of all you don't get a barcode anymore they've lost so many of my packages every time I've come in there. I'd always have to give my name who wants to deal with that. May I go into some of the people that they have hired. When you own a company, I would think you would want the best, looking people to represent your company and of course you want them to be competent enough to do the job, here's where I'm coming from with that, there are or should I say there is a person there with absolutely no teeth, and acne that's just so gross. It turns your stomach now she's a nice person however I would not want that to represent my company, it just lets you know that they're hiring anybody off the street this may be the reason why they can't get those packages right they're losing peoples packages. People have to stand in line for a long time before they try and figure out what went wrong. I've had enough. I've moved on. I will not even buy in their store Because there's no reason to go there I think Amazon fresh located in North Hollywood on Lankershim should reevaluate who they have hired!!!! read more

This place is so conveniently located for me and I realllly want to love it but can someone please tell me how there are always more employees than customers in the store yet everything is always out of stock and they don't have a clue where anything is? I swear I bought out everything I liked and then it was just never ordered or stocked again. The most offensive thing about this store is literally everything made inside. I have tried their soups, salads, pasta salads, salsas, etc... and it's all so terrible I don't know who is making this crap but are y'all even tasting it? The pizza is passing but comparable to chuckie cheese or Peter piper and I don't think that's anything to brag about. Overall I like that this place is clean, has friendly staff, and I can abuse the heck out of My prime membership with the convenience of returns here, but would not recommend going out of your way to come here. If you want to pay 3x-5x what normal prices are and have less selection, go here. I had a coupon for 20 off 40 so I thought I would check it out. The prices are unreasonably high. Only a few things I found were of average. There isn't much inventory, a step above a 7-11 with a dash of whole foods 365 mixed in. There are "Amazon shoppers" getting orders ready all over but not to help live customers. The place is a bait and switch to make you use the Amazon app to track you. The amount of groceries I got for the forty dollars I spent was ridiculous, if not for the coupon it would be robbery. Never again. read more

The prices in this store are never good... I can also never get reception in the store to use their self-scan checkout, (which is part of the appeal of the place). The employees also seem over-worked. I once came in searching for an item that was listed as "in stock," but wasn't on the shelf. We asked an employee, who told us it was so far back in the freezer, it would be too difficult to get, (which is fine; I know it's Amazon, so they aren't getting paid enough to deal with issues). The only saving grace is that they have some amazon brand/exclusive products, and it's the e only place to get them. read more

A few of the female cashiers here are openly hostile and RACIST. I say this as a white guy witnessing unprofessional behavior towards certain groups almost every time I go to this location. It is 2022, and young people behaving with such disrespect towards customers is incredible. Most people are only shopping here because of the COUPONS. Even then, it isn't worth the bad vibes. Heard a manager tell a couple that they couldn't use the smart cart with their coupon, so the couple with their young child had to transfer their basket full of groceries over to a traditional cart. My wife whispered to me that the carts do take coupons, so I don't get it. read more

Here's the deal! Amazon fresh is convenient if you live close. Prices are similar to Ralph's , the produce section is pretty good, and they have most items. Where this store wins is their customer service. Employees are super helpful, checking out is simple especially if you have an Amazon account, and there is plenty of assistance if you're looking for something. One draw back to this though is there are often groups of 3-4 employees standing around which with the 20% capacity rule makes getting in and around the store challenging at time. Selection wise this store doesn't offer a great variety. Maybe 3-4 brands per items. They also do not have things like Tupperware/ pie crust/ other random grocery items. If you're looking for a wide selection I'd suggest Ralph. read more

Loved shopping here!!! This was my first time & I hope mgmt reads this! Pros: fresh produce! Great quality & packed neatly where I can easily grab what I need & more figure out what's fresh n not fresh.... Everything was fresh!!! I loved that there are employees working the floor who I can ask for help if I need to find something that's always helpful. Cleanliness of atmosphere, floors weren't dirty or sticky and the overall energy & enthusiasm was nice to experience. Also I love that you carry products for African American hair & other textures that was a plus for me!!! I've shopped at Whole Foods for years & ralphs & Trader Joe's this was by far my best experience. It's like a Whole Foods Hybrid w a trader Joe like model in a way. Cons: there's no direct number to call mgmt I think there needs to be covers for the hot food especially since we're post pandemic but other than that. I'll be back as a regular. I go here for the convenience of it being the closest grocery store when i need something fast and impulsive and i can walk to, but this store in general sucks. they are allergic to keeping everything in the same place. i walk in multiple times a week and they're stocking and reorganizing the whole store and moving things to different aisles EVERY DAY. like do yall not get tired? i'm going in circles trying to find something that used to be in one aisle, and it's either gone completely or in a different aisle. other grocery stores aren't like this, so why do they do something so unlikeable and inconvenient?? like Keep Things In The Same Place. It's crazy cause things are out of stock but also they're always stocking... Huh??? Also the reviews are right about perishables, that stuff will expire QUICK if you don't use it in a day. Place is clean and the employees are friendly, but man this place is more expensive than Whole Foods at Walmart quality. Produce looks like the returns from Whole Foods but more expensive. Farmers market produce is half as much and 10x the quality. Even the junk food is priced higher than Walmart. We were so excited for Amazon Fresh to finally open but my local liquor store carries more items consistently... I've visited 10+ times and each time they're out of stock of almost everything. At least 5 times they've been out of 90% of their produce. Imagine walking into a grocery store and the produce section is empty. So weird. The aisles are also mostly empty and have a very odd way of stocking. For example, there are 4+ areas that carry dairy. I've had to walk to each section multiple times to find the things I need, instead of having one section with similar products. The staff is very friendly and helpful with a seamless checkout process. Tip: If Amazon Fresh is out of something (because they will be), the market on the corner of Lankershim and Hesby has produce and other staple items. This may seem silly but go over there and you'll see what I mean. Stick to your Ralph's, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, etc, and skip this one. It's a waste of time. read more

Great if you need one or two things quickly, awful for a full grocery shop. They frequently change their stock, making it difficult to guarantee you will be able to get the same item on multiple trips, or that it will even be the same price if you do (given the wildly fluctuating price points for the same items, I have to assume their prices are algorithmically generated). They're also prone to just moving things about for seemingly no reason. In less than year, the quick snacks, salads, fast-food lunches and sushi items have moved to numerous different locations. They've rearranged their entire frozen food section twice. I have no idea where they've put their meat-wrapped cheeses, but the Amazon website insists they have them in stock. Sometimes it feels like this store is run by a group of people LARPing at being a supermarket. I'm sure it's not the staff's fault - they're wonderful, friendly, helpful and funny when I've spoken to them - but whatever AI they have running the place clearly has no idea what people's basic needs are. read more

Nobody knows anything, nobody can help you with anything, there's no way you can call the store to see if there's fresh BBQ chickens left cause they sell out so fast, frequently they're out of items and nobody has the slightest clue, the whole store has employee turnover every 15 minutes. I am convinced this store exists only to fill orders for private shoppers. MORE: driving into the underground parking lot from OTSEGO street has to be the most dangerous stupidly designed access ever. The only problem with the store is they CARD EVERYONE. I accepted that when younger, but at 73 years old, it's an insult. No other store in North Hollywood has the same practice. I refuse to be carded; so they loose my money for beer, wine and liquor. Otherwise, the parking is good, and size of the store convenient. The aisles are not aligned from one half of the store to the other, making circulation odd. The prices are mostly competitive with descent selections. Sometimes the check-out is slow with too much procedure required for a receipt. Just print the damn thing! Although I have an Amazon account, the time consuming procedure involved to get what they want is too cumbersome and just not worth the time and effort. read more
