I had high hopes for this place. The selection of products was decent but not anything special snd the produce wasn't as fresh as most stores. But other than that, the prices are insanely high! At least twice higher than other stores, that was the biggest issue. I like shopping at different groceries for different things and am used to different price scales. I don't know what location had my groceries but I ordered yesterday to be delivered between 8-10 pm. I was so tired but at 10 pm it said one stop away so I stayed awake then at 10:45 pm it said sorry we won't be delivering your groceries. I was so mad and then it took 45 min on the phone to get a refund!!! I thought it had to be a one time mistake so I ordered again for today to be delivered between 6-8 pm. It is 9:30 pm currently and they haven't even picked up my food to begin to deliver it!! So again 45 min on the phone to get a refund. All they offered on the phone was a $10 credit for all that trouble. I don't know when they went downhill but two nights in a row no groceries and they are clearly not reliable so back to Trader Joes I go. Nothing about this experience was good. The smart carts are small and confusing. If you actually need food you shouldn't go here because the "smart" carts are tiny. I didn't realize there were other carts to be used. I had to keep asking for employee assistance. I'm 33 not 103. This was so damn irritating. I only went because I had a gift card. Flagged down an employee. She double checked my app. Assured my my gift card would be used. Nope. They charged my credit card. She also saw I had that dumb smart cart. Ride downstairs with it to THEIR PARKING LOT. The wheels locked. I dragged the dumb thing to my car to offload anyway. Why the hell would their carts not work in the parking lots? A man in the parking lot saw how flustered I was and even asked me if I needed help. Talked to customer service and they were like OH WELL we already charged your card. SKIP! I would never step foot in this place again. Also the produce looked pretty MEH. The broccoli was yellow. I turned and didn't explore it all further. Careful at check out, prices charge higher than what the prices show on the shelf I saw $4.07 for 13lbs cat food bag, but when i checked out, price change to $12.99. I went back and took photo of the items w/ price to show them. The lady at cashier went there and remove the tag, said they misplace the foods. As a self described Market geek, aficionado, fan i looked forward to the opening of this Amazon Fresh. I thought: wow ! Yes, Amazon now owns Whole Foods and i saw the changes in pricing in particular that the Amazon people implemented there. But now they are opening a market with the Amazon impranteur: something that the Amazon people developed from the ground up. But what would they develop? And how would it be different from Whole Foods? Because in order to make sense to me Amazon Fresh had to be innovative, outstanding, different from all others...right? I mean Amazon invented the order by mail Book and CD business? I know because i was there in the late 90's ordering books and Cd's and owning stock in this fledging company. So much has happened to Amazon in the last 20 years that their purchase of Whole Foods seemed like a natural step for them as they had begun offering foodstuffs via their Amazon platform. So now they have opened Amazon Fresh. Well, i arrived this morning and unfortunately i don't see much innovation except maybe in the media gizmos arena. As a food store geek i was looking for bursts of new ideas and presentations of food that rose above what is available in WH or 365 or even the almost long forgotten Fresh and Easy (remember them?) One positive is that i don't see any movement towards copying the King of fresh and frozen foods: Trader Joe's. Fresh and Easy tried and failed this for a couple of hundred reasons though for one shining day, Fresh and Easy exhibited beautiful fresh food cases but day two and beyond proved to be difficult for F&E to follow through. Amazon Fresh has nice produce, nice meat cases, nice groceries though limited (but you can supposedly buy Duke's Mayo here) and nice hot food areas (Costco priced whole chickens!) and a great wine section at good prices. I can find this in a regular Whole Foods. But where is the innovation? Where is what makes this market important and out of the ordinary? I don't see it's reason for being as i saw when i first dealt with Amazon.com. Service is good, shelves are fully stocked as in a regular Whole Foods but Amazon Fresh: what makes you special, why do you exist? Who is your targeted customer? What are you doing that will bring me back instead of to a much closer Whole Foods in Glendale? Fresh ideas and the follow through of said ideas are few and far between in the grocery store industry. SO far: i do not see it here and it is a shame as Amazon has always been a leader. But here they sort of schlump along following their own ideals as set in concrete at Whole Foods. read more

I actually LOVE this store! But the last 4 times I have been here, literally the employees have been completely ignoring the COVID-19 rules, not caring about any 6 feet rules. I've been patient, but tonight I was waiting for 10 minutes for pizza and an employee jumped in front of me and said oh I need a pepperoni piece now! There was no where for me to move, with a line behind me. This happened to me yesterday as well. An employee jumped behind to pay, but literally 4 inches. Pre-covid neither of these situations would have bothered me. But after today, I'm done with this store. I hope the management fixes this situation. As a former Amazon employee this behavior was never allowed not during covid. Not one person is walk around this store to ensure distance. And the employees seem to be the worst at enforcement. I've been a long time customer at this location and today is by far the worst experience. Overall, mediocre food, overpriced but with a coupon once in a while makes it okay and horrible customer service. Will it kill you to look up and say hi. A few associates were just gathered in the corner chatting when I had to bag my own groceries, they just left it on the counter and turned away from me to chat next to the cashier table after I paid. The cashier that rang me up chucked my receipt at me and left my groceries on the counter, now I'm in someone else's way. I didn't get his name. Lane 6 on 4/20/23 at 4:35pm. When I came a month ago it was great. Today I walk in the 2 greeters by the door , didn't greet, didn't help with the cart they were playing and rubbing each others hair. Zero Social distancing. I have discovered that if you don't watch your receipts closely, at least once a week one of the products that i purchase is overpriced. Today I purchased a bottle of Brer Rabbit Molasses. They charged me over four dollars, the actual price was 2.53. I took a picture of the actual price to prove to the teller that I had been overcharged yet once again. This location just opened up a few days ago and so happy it did! It's located in North Hollywood's Art District on Lankershim. This grocery store is clean, organized, fully stocked with an assortment of high quality brands and great prices. Very friendly and helpful staff. If you have amazon prime, you can go to your app and pay through that without taking out your credit/debit card. And they email your receipt automatically. Great during this pandemic so less things to touch. You connect to their amazon guest WIFI to do this. COVID health safety in effect Mask required Staff wear masks They also have Curbside pickup Free amazon fresh Parking is available underground or you can park on street with metered parking. I work at the Amazon Fresh in Northridge / Porter Ranch. We have sales on items on the daily in store that aren't even in the ad. From now until May we have a $10 off $40+ coupon (expires 5/31) when you make returns or select our store to pick up from the locker. When we first opened in Nov 2020 the shelves were barely stocked, but now we get new products in at the drop of a hat so you never know when you come back the next week of shopping, the product that we didn't have, now we do! I know our employees who do the stocking are very busy so sometimes if you don't see a product on our shelves, you can ask one of our associates on the floor to look it up on their handheld devices to see if we have it in the back. Most of our staff are friendly and like our jobs. The store isn't stuffy or packed like other stores. Our employees smile a lot more than other stores and will greet you better than other stores that aren't fresh. I am not a manager and no one is paying me to say this. I love shopping here after my shift because I save a lot. I do have to shop at a competitor store once in a while because we don't sell one of my favorite coffee creamers but Fresh has taught me to try other products that I wouldn't have otherwise. If there was one bad thing to say about Fresh..I wish they didn't get rid of the carvery station because the brisket was to die for and not being able to just get the meat for lunch or dinner but instead having the only option on getting it in a sandwich isn't my thing. First of all, when I went in the West Valley market last year, it was pretty exciting to experience the new technology. Getting your Amazon shopping list on your basket is cool. Loading items into the basket with automatic scanning is cool. It's not perfect. There were times when it double-charged me and one time when it didn't scan something (even though it was in the basket). I played with it a bit and it all balanced out. Exiting the store without going through a checkstand was the bomb!!! But then I had to transfer everything to another basket to exit the store. That was meh. Employees were everywhere to assist, which was good. The store was pretty complete for its relatively small size, and the prices were excellent. But my kudos are for the North Hollywood store and both delivery and pickup. Razor-sharp service. Always on-time with the delivery or the pickup. I love driving in to find the person waiting for me with my groceries. Compare this to the absolute bumbling that you find at some of the Ralphs stores. The groceries were packaged BEAUTIFULLY, with insulation for the cold items. The whole operation is with military precision. My initial complaints about the website mixing Fresh items with non-Fresh have been addressed, and it's a bit easier to do the online shopping now. I hope with the new Encino store (used to be a Ralphs Fresh Fare) they have more products and I'll be able to dispense with Ralphs entirely. Ralphs over-charges but you then get it back on points, giving you huge discounts at Ralphs Fuel Centers. But the Amazon Fresh pricing is similar to Walmart grocery pricing (low low) and that's enough to grab all of my business. read more

I'm going to preface this review by indicating I have shopped at Whole Foods in Burbank for years now, as well as filling in at other local stores what they don't carry. Recently, I received a coupon in the mail for $20 off of a $40 purchase at Amazon Fresh, which I had never been to. I decided to do my weekly shopping at the NORTH HOLLYWOOD location on June 10, 2022. Once in the store I realized that I knew nothing about the store concept or their smart carts, so after going inside, I googled...What is the difference between Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh? OK, got it, paired my Amazon Prime credit card to the cart and was off shopping. I decided to use the smart cart for the "whole experience." Took a while to adjust because items were not "reading" when I placed them inside the cart, and had to remove and replace several items for them to show up on the screen. I typically purchase mainly organic produce, which were lacking at this store, but I had just read prior to shopping so that was not a surprise. The quality of the vegetables were definitely not as good as what Whole Foods carries. Turns out, that using the smart cart in the produce section is a lesson in frustration (or patience??), as I could not figure out how to do produce purchases. I asked a young man who was very helpful (and the only reason for the two stars) and informed and showed me how to use the scale, keying in the 5/6 digit code that is either on the produce tag or the price tab where I got the item. This was seriously time consuming and I didn't even get as much as I usually do due to less organic items. Continued through the store, and headed to the "checkout/bagging" area when I was done shopping/looking around. Herein lies the most rude encounter I've ever had with a grocery store employee in my life! I was under the impression that once you enter the checkout area that your "saved" credit card would be automatically charged, therefore I began to bag my groceries. The (soon to be rude) employee approached me and indicated that she was notified that something was wrong with my purchase. I had no idea what she was talking about since this was my first time in the store. She indicated that the basket interior color should be either green/blue/purple (she indicated 2 or 3 different colors) and said that when I was taking items out to bag that those items were reduced from the total (my description, not hers). I asked her what I should have done as I felt that possibly I missed something, something that I should have effected in order for the lights to change color, maybe on the screen, etc. She didn't respond and I asked her again. She said that if the basket does not turn colors I need to seek someone out not help me. She became overly dramatic and kept saying what wasn't charged/I don't know what items were not charged while flaying her arms up and down. Okay, so let's think about this, if the "basket" reduced everything I bagged, then it's everything in my bags, right? Not rocket science. But what I learned a few minutes after when she had me go out of the checkout area and put my two bags on the ground, THAT THE ITEMS I HAD TAKEN OUT HAD A LINE THROUGH THEM on the screen, so THOSE WERE THE ITEMS! Really? Why put the customer through that? At that point I turned around and observed many customers waiting in line were looking our way. This woman had to of been the most inarticulate and overtly dramatic grocery store employee I have ever attempted to get answers from--actually, the first and only time in my entire life. At certain points during her drama fest, she didn't even respond, she just stared at me. So I asked the same questions over and over. This whole situation could have been taken care quickly. First by articulating what should have happened as soon as I walked into that area and informed that there was nothing further that I should have done to effect the "smart" cart to check me out. It was not till I got home and saw a YouTube video that I learned this. She should have apologized that the cart in the checkout area didn't work the way it should have, and assisted me by placing the items that were in the bags back into the cart, instead of acting like I was intentionally taking grocery items. It could have been that simple and taken a minimal amount of hers and my time. Ironically, when I was a youngster under 20 years old, I worked for Von's, first as a box girl and then after I turned 18 as a checker for over three years. I was well trained in how to professionally do my job, but also and especially in customer service, something that this woman was seriously lacking. She must know that she can get away with being rude with customers. I cannot even imagine treating a customer the way she did. That was the first and last time I'll be shopping at Amazon Fresh. read more

This is a review for their delivery service. Fresh saved the day for me this Christmas. I had a terrible experience with OregonMaiden.com - ordered a gift basket, was told the order was being processed & a label was created, then nothing happened for 10 days. No updates, no communication of any kind, no delivery. When I contacted them to ask why they just refunded my order with no explanation. I was left hanging with no present the week after Christmas. Amazon Fresh to the rescue! I was able to place an order for the very next day with all kinds of delicious fresh meats, cheeses, crackers & wine - and at literally HALF the cost of what Oregon Maiden was charging. My friend got his present the next day with free delivery. I've used their delivery service before for groceries & it's always been great. What I didn't realize is I could order for people in other states. I would definitely do that again. Much cheaper than gift baskets, with fresher, better quality food. A total win. Look forward to trying their in-person stores once quarantine is over. read more

This place is like a corporate sadness factory. Lots of employees masked up, no reception here and like 50 workers but only 2 people at the registers. Expect long waiting lines. I don't get how a biz can have so many workers and only a few people at the register. She literally threw the receipt at us. I told her she was terrible but couldn't find the manger and when I called Amazon they couldn't connect me to this location. Loved shopping here!!! This was my first time & I hope mgmt reads this! Pros: fresh produce! Great quality & packed neatly where I can easily grab what I need & more figure out what's fresh n not fresh.... Everything was fresh!!! I loved that there are employees working the floor who I can ask for help if I need to find something that's always helpful. Cleanliness of atmosphere, floors weren't dirty or sticky and the overall energy & enthusiasm was nice to experience. Also I love that you carry products for African American hair & other textures that was a plus for me!!! I've shopped at Whole Foods for years & ralphs & Trader Joe's this was by far my best experience. It's like a Whole Foods Hybrid w a trader Joe like model in a way. Cons: there's no direct number to call mgmt I think there needs to be covers for the hot food especially since we're post pandemic but other than that. I'll be back as a regular. Their options are limited. They only take one form of payment. There's no cell reception in the store. They dont sell Quinoa. Theyre actually more expensive than Ralphs (with less options) When they bag your groceries, they put the meat between the double bag, not IN the bag. I had an entire slab of salmon go bad because of this. I went for their buffalo wings and they ran out of sauce. I called today to see if they made the buffalo wings and my call was routed to Amazon customer service which sounded like a different country. When I asked her to connect me to the store I was told the store does not have a phone that we can reach them on. I call BS because if there was an emergency where they needed police or fire, there's a phone in that store! How is this 2022 and Amazon is so advanced, but they don't have the little things like a phone and the other things that I listed above. Even the employees dont like it there.
