Per Ryan L. Review, it did not work for me at all :( I tried ordering the special large two topping pizza for $12.99 plus an additional topping to make it $15 delivery minimum. The guy said No. He quoted me $22. Wtf?! How come another yelper was able to do it and not me. Got so confused and kept telling him...someone on yelp did it and not me?! He told me its a special and cannot be combined with any other offer. I get it but...Wow. Unbelievable. I cancelled that order and instead, was forced to get a specialty pizza at a higher price :( Had to because we were hungry for pizza. And why pay $22 for a 3 item pizza when I can get a specialty pizza at that price. Took over an hour for delivery. Maybe because it was rainy. Upon delivery, the total was $25. Wtf?! I've been remiss. I haven't Yelped in a few days. This oversight shall be rectified immediately. For the night of the Oakland Art Murmur, my friends and I wanted to grab something quick and cheap to eat, with or without alkie-hall to mellow out our week. We found this place. The interior may look down-right ghetto, but cheer up, because the pizza more than makes up for the lack of cosmetic detailing of the joint. This pizza reminds me of the yummy goodness that I used to have in junior high and high school down by Lakeshore by the name of Four Star Pizza. I don't remember what establishment took over that place now, but it isn't good pizza. (No worries, it's not Lanesplitter Pizza. I believe they're next door.) Anywayz, I digress. Haven't the pizza from here in a while and my or my did this take me back. Crust nice and sturdy and holds up well underneath all that zesty tomato sauce, n greasy cheesy beef pepperoni topping. And yes beef pepperoni upon request for the Muslim folks to indulge instead of sin. A friend had a party last year and ordered at least 8 pizzas from Amazona's. White sauce with chicken, pepperoni, veggie, combo...they were all good. I ordered delivery from Amazona's for the first time recently. They said 45min-1h wait. Delivery guy showed up 55 mins after my phone order, so yeah the delivery time is accurate based on this one experience. Pizza was hot and delicious. I got the "Di Cruzamento"--wisconsin whole milk mozzarella, tomatoes, garlichiken, prosciutto, spinach leaves, gorgonzola. $23.50 for the 14"/8 slices. Total $27 after delivery (within Oakland). I've never been in the actual storefront so I can't comment on that, though I would definitely go next time I'm in that area and craving pizza. One crucial thing I think they should improve is the menu on their website. You have to click on each pizza name to see the description, which is super annoying and time-consuming. I have only ordered delivery from this place. I ordered a medium pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and jalapenos. Since I ordered on a rainy Friday night around 7 pm, they quoted me about 45 minutes to deliver my pizza. They had trouble finding my apartment, so it actually took them about an hour to find my place. The pizza was still fairly hot. It looked so delicious! It was spicy and greasy, and the bottom of the crust was crisp, but the outer crust was chewy. I would say that the pizza was probably pretty greasy due to my toppings. The crust was okay, and definitely crisp in the right places. There was a good amount of cheese on the pizza. I wish they had whole jalapenos instead of chopped ones. It's a good option for delivery, but their prices are a little higher than I would like to pay. read more

Not that dried up cardboard so many of us have been mind-controlled into accepting as Pizza: ala Cheeseboard, Arizmendis, Spinning Dough, Sliver etc. This is the real-thing and the prices far more reasonable. So if You want Pizza - don't waste Your hard-earned money on fru-fru places that don't care what original Pizza is and think it's 'smart-read as cheap as sh**t' to not put a tomato base in a Pizza. We have been ordering Amazona's NY style thin crust pizza for probably 8 or 9 years at this point, usually with the house made sausage plus roasted red peppers, or maybe mushrooms. Whenever we don't want to cook, are exhausted, or are just simply over a diet plan, this number is on speed dial. The ingredients, down to the seasoning of the tomato sauce and the cheeses are first rate, the pies are perfectly baked most of the time, and they're a lovely family business. Large, filling pizzas can be found here (I really like the one with pineapple and sausage -- when my friends places our order here, we weren't disappointed with the food!) The venue is a cozy little place with a good amount of seating. I really appreciate how there are outlets and guest wifi, so there's the opportunity to do work while grabbing a bite to eat. The restaurant is located by plenty of public transportation spots (and also has street parking too). My only sadness stems from the fact that there no restroom, but overall think it's a nice place to eat some pizza! read more

I don't like to give a one star review however I feel it is my public duty to bring this to peoples attention. I went in for a slice and a drink last week. Mid meal, I went to use the restroom. I was shocked to find a toilet covered with dried fecal matter and toilet paper stuck to the seat. This was absolutely the most disgusting bathroom I have ever seen and I am horrified to think that the person who made my food also use that restroom. Super disappointed....I will no longer be ordering from Amazona's. I order every week the same items, a large New York style pizza and the Deluxe Caprise Salad totaling $45 with tip. Three times now I have asked for extra basil on the salad and all three times there hasn't been any extra. This time it seems as there is less than normal, 8 leaves!!! I called and they told me that there is no way to make additions to any item due to their system. I asked about the old fashion way of writing it down or making a note of it or telling the cook and he said no. So there you have it....modern day customer service! read more

I'm still on the hunt for the best calzone in the East Bay (the front-runner so far is Espresso Roma; the only problem there is that they aren't very flexible with their toppings). A couple of nights ago I ordered a chicken, broccoli, roasted pepper, and mushroom calzone for pickup from Amazona, and had a curious experience wherein they completely forgot about my order (shortly before closing), and then were so contrite about it that they insisted on reopening the kitchen, making the calzone, and delivering it to my apartment. How's that for service (notwithstanding the fact that they forgot about my order in the first place...)? After that my hopes were high (and my appetite was great) for the calzone itself... Ultimately, it had a lot of potential but unfortunately it was really hard to get past the saltiness of the crust. The fillings were fresh and ample, so normally I'd be willing to give this place another try, but given that others have commented on this as well, I think it's just how they make dough here. Perhaps for a pizza it's not as big of a deal, but given that a calzone is really all about the crust, this doesn't work so well, so the search for the uber-calzone continues (please tip me off if you know of anywhere I need to try)... read more

Good pizza, highly recommended. Delivery was painless and the pizza arrived quickly and in very good condition. I tried the SIQUEIRA pizza and was really pleased. The crust on this style (they do a couple different crusts) was medium thick, with a nice rise. Poorly skilled pizza makers can screw up with just two toppings, and this combo had nine toppings. So I was a little nervous to see if they had the skill and experience to make it work. Wow, they made it work beautifully. Really tasty pizza. The tomato sauce a bit too sweet but I would say this is the 2nd best pizza place in Oakland. First place would be 'A Fistful of Flour' but I think these folks are out of business now. Victims of Covid. Uggh..they were the best. Our Caesar salad was missing any anchovy taste, so skip that. After all the entire purpose of a 'Caesar Salad' is the anchovies. But for Amazona we think they are the best in Oakland for both delivery and pizza quality at this time (Jan. 18, 2021). Throw a rock you'll hit a pizza joint, but GREAT Pizza is not super abundant in the East Bay outside of LoCoCos on upper Piedmont ave or Arizmendi's Lakeshore spot near Lake Merritt. Amazonia's is DELICIOUS and easily located if you're driving or walking in Oakland. Taste's great and smells incredibly fresh, will make you nostalgic for back East! read more

This is an example of why you can't go by Yelp stars. This isn't good pizza. NY style should be thin, a bit crispy, well risen. The edge should have risen and be airy. There shouldn't bee too much sauce, and that sauce shouldn't be some cheap salty nonsense. This dough was heavy, chewy, much thicker than it should have been. The sauce was poor quality and too much, which made everything soggy on top. It was nothing like a decent NY or NJ pizza. Which again indicates people who write these reviews just don't have a clue what they are talking about. It is dive pizza. There are good dive pizzas, there are decent ones. This one is edible, but poor. The ironic thing is, if they made a better dough and base pizza, and used a slightly better sauce they could use less flour, and less sauce overall and have a much better product. Not sure why so few places make a good simple pizza here, it isn't magic and there is certainly a customer base for it. read more

Loyal customer for years, never again. Ordered a large pizza for delivery. Hour and half later it shows up. Wasn't what I ordered. Call to let them know. Girl answering phone totally incompetent. Knows she's the one who screwed my order up but nonetheless doesn't apologize. Gives me two options - wait another hour and half for the correct pizza or receive a credit for the next time I order for a free pizza. I tell her I'm willing to wait for my pizza I wanted all along. Her: Hold please... you're going to have to return the incorrect pizza. Me: Why? You just told me I'd get a free pizza credit the next time I ordered. Me keeping the wrong one is the same thing. I've generally found that when Yelpers can reach a consensus, there's a reason for it. When there's a consensus that a place has bad delivery service, I can tell you from foolhardy firsthand experience that you had better not order delivery from that place! For a more sensible change of pace, I decided to order delivery from Amazonas, which self-evidently has received pretty positive marks from the notoriously scrutinizing Yelp ranks. I saw they had a special listed on their website for a 2-topping large pizza for 12.99, so I was all set to order my usual pineapple and pepperoni. Then, something caught my eye on their topping list, as if for a split second it had glimmered, calling out to me, alerting me to its presence. Maybe the site used a well-timed blink tag. Who knows. The important thing is that that something was BACON! "HOLD THE PEPPERONI!" I shouted (to myself, as I hadn't even picked up the phone at this point yet). "That pie is getting BACOFIED! Mmmmm-hmmm..." Needless to say, I ordered a large bacon and pineapple pizza, and I was impressed to see it arrive well in advance of the 45-60 minute window I had been given. It was still piping hot when I opened the box, and everything about the pizza looked just right. Taking my first bite, it was actually still too hot (!!), but I knew I was in for a smooth ride the rest of the night. The bacon was perfectly chewy and crispy, the pineapple was sweet and juicy, and the sauce ..... the sauce is spectacular! Enjoy the bounty of the rainforest at Amazonas Pizza!
