On a chilly Sunday, I noticed Doordash was offering 25%-off to try Hesher's Pizza in Oakland. So I decided to order a "Hesh Law" regular size pizza. Wow, this is a good pizza. I like combo pizzas, and the Hesh Law is a supreme pizza. Don't let the rectangular shape fool you, this isn't a Detroit-style slab pizza like they serve at Square Pie Guys. My pizza had a thinner crust, and a thick layer of toppings that carried strong flavors. The serrano peppers gave each bite a dose of heat. A regular Hesh Law pizza is about 9" x 12" and has 8 slices (squares). Also, Parmesan Cheese comes in cute little "baggies." Well worth a try next time you're in Oakland.

I came on a Friday night and it was a chill atmosphere. Parking was easy to find. I got a flight and my favorite was the pear cider. Absolutely sweet and delicious! The pineapple jalapeño pizza was really good! It definitely has that kick of spice. The pizza with blue cheese and blueberry was interesting. I personally did not like it but I think it's worth trying if you want to venture. The pizza quality is great. I loved it and honestly I'm not a big pizza lover. However, you do have to wait a while for the pizza so if you're going to chat for a while - I recommend ordering first. There was on staff doing everything when I was there and she is super kind and friendly.

I only tried one pizza. It was all meat.it was decent. My favorite part was the crust. Decent pizza spot with a decent vibe.

They have the best pizza in the Bay! I went on a night they were having a show and I'm not going to hold you, I need to go back for the live music! The crowd wasn't one I would normally hang around but I think I'm about to make an exception! They were chill! The service was great and I missed my train ride home for this Canadian Tuxedo, that's how good it is!

We ordered on DoorDash and out dasher accidentally got the wrong order. Hesher's did a great job of notifying DoorDash who notified us and they actually still had our pizza at the restaurant so we could pick it up. The pizza was definitely worth it!! The luau one was delicious but a little spicy for me (in a good way)! The tomb mold was definitely the highlight! It was delicious and I wanted to keep coming back for more!

One Hitter box. Super cute and personal sized!

Really flavorful and perfectly crispy Vegan pizza! They ran out of vegan cheese and Gio (super nice) recommended it without the cheese! It was delicious and next time, we'll order it the same way!!

I'm giving this two stars because the service and the atmosphere are pretty amazing. It's a hard-core/metal/punk bar that just happens to sell pizza for some reason. But the pizza that they sell is very bad. I've actually had better frozen pizza. I thought it was because it's a square pie style, which I don't typically like, but I've had square pies that I thought were amazing like Prince Street in New York and Square pie guys in San Francisco. This pizza is on par with places like Domino's or Little Caesars.

I really wanted to like this spot as a good hole in the wall place to buy a pie. Being 100% honest, I can admit that the service here is far more than lacking. I'm a frequent patron here. There's one guy in the front that's always generally nice but upon arrival does not acknowledge me, like ever. I have to ask to take my order. In my most recent visit here I placed an order in which that same gentleman and what seemed like to be a trainee took my order. Then the gentleman left and completely disregarded my order and I had to wait about 35-40 minutes for a pizza that was already finished. Then they brought it out to me cold. It just sucked bro. In the past, I've had good experiences here, but this is becoming the norm now.

Hesher's is definitely one of my favorite pizza spots in Oakland! They have so many delicious flavor combos or you can create your own; both are delicious! They are always super generous with the toppings and I find the crust to be the perfect thickness for my preference. They have a really good amount of seating inside and I love that they have a stash of games available. It's also a short walk from the water at Jack London Square so it's perfect to take for a picnic!

Good pizza great service. 3*5 stars! I ordered heshers law, very spicy, seranno peppers on it. I love spicy but too much for me.. the flavors of all the ingredients together were too intense for me, very rich. Atleast I tried it, it wouldn't be a regular spot though for me, this is pie is definitely niche. I also didn't love the sausage they use, being Italian they weren't great. I pretty much knew though from looking at Yelp the sausage wouldn't be anything special, so not too disappointed.

I was craving a pizza and the Coffins Choice satisfied all the right taste buds! No complaints, cute packaging, only request maybe to have it a bit more crispy. All in all I will def be recommending Heshers

Great pizza, fun casual atmosphere. Music is on point for the theme. Haven't played any of the pinball and games but looks like fun and see kids partaking. It's never too crowded. I order either a small custom pizza or the Mutate for 2-3 people. Recommend

If you are ever visiting Oakland you absolutely need to visit this pizza place! I can say it's hands down the best pizza I've ever had in my entire life and I'm honestly so sad that I don't like closer because I would be eating this weekly. They offer a variety of pizzas and drinks. I got their peach cider which tasted amazing and I cannot stand the taste of alcohol so that's saying something. Once you're done dining they have a small arcade full of pinball machines and a racing game. The staff were super friendly and funny too! Overall 10/10 experience I genuinely cannot wait to visit again!

Crust had some char and could use some more bubbling in the center. Not sure if the temperature or thermal mass of the oven is just a tad low. Sauce was also excellent. Cheese was genuine mozz but with sparse coverage and no browning. Lots of parm finely shredded. Only slices or a whole (large) pie. Only two varieties. Plain and pepperoni. Overall, again the best New Haven pizza I've had on the west coast. By New Haven standards, a solid B+. Price was a bit expensive. Judging by the line out the door, that was not impeding sales in any way although the parking lot and beards suggest a healthy dot com and rich AI hipster contingent. There's a microbrewery next door and many people were walking their pizza over to have brews and pizza. Four stars means I'd definitely go if hungry but not sure if I'd drive out of my way to go.

At least I got to go a couple times before they closed and was able to try all the unique flavors that I wanted to try. The first time I went was with my family. We got a whole Ube pizza. The taste was good, and love the uniqueness of it. Even the dough is purple! There weren't that many people there when we went, so the service was quick. My second visit was closing weekend with a group of friends. I got to try two more flavors recommended by the server during my first visit - blackberry and longanisa. Both were very good in different ways. I think I preferred the blackberry slightly over longanisa. They had a lot of take out orders that day, and we got the last white dough (there were still Ube). Good thing we got what we got. Even though they were super busy, the service was still quick and pizza came out fast. I heard they opened up again in San Francisco but for take out only. So glad they reopened because after having the amazing pizzas right before they closed on Oakland, my friends and I were sad that we didn't go sooner. Can't wait to try again in the future.

Soppresata - an OG item on the menu and one of my favorites. Simple classic pizza with soppresata topped with scallions and honey. Savory, sweet. The honey is perfect on this pizza. Longanisa - Filipino inspired with longanisa, baked egg, and tomato. Savory and sweet. Heaviest of the three pizzas. Comes with a side of sweet vinegar to drizzle on top. All three of these pizzas easily are favorites for me. They're super large and best to share with 2-3 people. Their pizzas are already reliably delicious, but this deal is genuinely outstanding value since you get a large 18" pizza, your choice of a Caesar or dinner salad, and four very large sea salt chocolate chip cookies, all for $35. We grabbed two of these specials for a group of six and still had leftovers, so I'd say one combo easily feeds three people and could probably stretch to four as long as no one is absolutely starving. The pizzas themselves are ultra thin but still hold up structurally since you can lift and fold each slice without everything collapsing, which is exactly how I like to inhale my pizza. I personally wish the crust were just a touch more burnt and crackly on the edges, but even without that extra char, the flavor and bouncy chew of the dough were spot on. We ordered the Hot Italian and the Sausage & Roasted Garlic pies and absolutely loved both, especially the housemade sweet Italian sausage that appears on each, which is savory, slightly sweet, and super satisfying in every bite. Their house tomato sauce deserves its own shout out because it hits that ideal balance of sweetness and acidity and ties everything together perfectly. On the Sausage & Roasted Garlic it plays beautifully with the rich roasted garlic purée, and on the Hot Italian it stands up nicely to the Calabrian chilis and chili oil without getting lost. The sea salt chocolate chip cookies that come with the special are huge and packed with chocolate chips, and that little hit of salt really enhanced the flavors but the something about the texture was a bit off for me as it wasn't quite chewy or crumbly but rather something in between, which left me a little confused. Another big plus is that Violetta has a full bar so you can pair your meal with a beer, a glass of wine, or a cocktail to match whatever pie you are in the mood for. Between the quality of the ingredients, the thoughtfulness of the flavor combinations, and the generosity of the Restaurant Week deal, Pizzeria Violetta is an easy recommend and a spot I would happily return to with a group (or by myself with plenty of leftovers!).

I don't know why the pies cost so much, but they are only a few blocks from our place, so I want to support the few restaurants that set up shop in West Oakland. However, I'm starting to sour on this place. I don't mind overpaying for pizza; that's just edible, but on a few occasions, I've been appalled by what these folks try to get away with. A couple of months ago, they gave us a pie that was so burnt I had to call to complain, and they replaced it with a less burnt pie. Perhaps they don't know that extremely burnt food is full of carcinogens. This week, we ordered our usual 18-inch pie. This pie was a Frankenstein pie; half of it tasted like it had been sitting under the lamp all day. A telltale sign is how stiff the cheese is; the old dough feels as if I'm chewing on rubber, and the slices are stiff and salty overall, though some slices taste a bit fresher and crunchier. I was disappointed. If you're going to overcharge for mediocre pizza, the least you could do is give people what they are paying for. If I wanted old, stale pizza, I would've asked for the slices that sit under the lamp all day. Moving forward, if we order from this place, I will walk over, place the order, and wait for it, so we don't get cheated again. This place is a reminder of why certain restaurants often fail. The food is overpriced, and they are inconsistent with their service, if not disrespectful, in how they sometimes treat and feed their customers. We're not pigs; we just like eating the sweet little pig.
