Sliver is a chain pizza spot originally starting in Berkeley after Cheese Board and they expanded over the last decade. Most locations are in Berkeley, one in Oakland and one on the South Bay. They used to allow customers to pick their own sauces with containers but have cut costs over the years (3 tiny containers given now) vs free large container given with a purchase of one pizza etc, so they are becoming more and more like a typical pizza place vs a speciality. read more

How do you even stay in business with employees who don't care, talking amongst themselves with no regard to us standing in line in an EMPTY restaurant, while only serving one pizza of the day and one salad of the day? Mediocre at best, the day's flavor was potato and corn barely heated up as I just stood there and waited as they chitchatted. When my coworker said they didn't care...I agreed. Always a fan of Sliver from my when I tools some BCC classes. Glad to see they've expanded! This location is great in a shopping center. A lot of the parking spots in front of the restaurant are compact size. Plenty of seating inside and some outside. They have a few TVs that take up a whole wall. We were on a time crunch so we ordered on their website while we were on the way! Today's pizza of the day had sweet potatoes. Pizza was fresh, crispy, and tasty like always! I've been coming to Sliver since 2015 and it's still one of my favorite spots. It's technically pizza but really it's more like amazing cheese bread with creative gourmet toppings. The folks who started Sliver came from the Cheese Board Collective in Berkeley and created their own company, and they've done an incredible job. You can check which pizzas each location is serving for the entire week on their website. Rockridge offers one rotating pizza of the day, while the Uptown location lets you choose from several different options. If you want variety, Uptown is the place to go. My favorite slices are the ones with corn or mushrooms, but honestly almost every combo is great. The potato one is probably my least favorite but it's still pretty good. Do not miss the green sauce. It has a cilantro and jalapeño kick that pairs perfectly with the pizza. They also have a red sauce, but I always go for the green. A slice is $4.50 and comes with a bonus sliver on top. A half pizza, which is four slices, is $15. A full pizza is $28. They also serve salads, beer, and a variety of drinks. The Rockridge location is spacious with both indoor and outdoor seating, perfect for a small group. There are large TVs playing sports and plenty of parking since it is in a plaza. Staff is always friendly and the place is consistently clean. Highly recommend! read more

I'm not a veggie guy, but they make great pizza here! Terrific veggie pizzas in the same style as The Cheese Board of Berkeley. This is no accident as this restaurant was founded by folks that used to work at the famed Cheese Board. The menu changes daily, but I've never had a bad slice here ever! Pro tip #1: Check their website for the weekly menu. The little sliver of a "bonus" slice is what gives this place their name. Pro tip #2: Be sure to grab the green sauce (free) and a slice of lime to give your slice a little added zing.. Perhaps a bit early at 11:15 am for lunch. By the time I had arrived it was opened but no pizza yet but in a few minutes. I like that for a slice you get a couple of sliver slices too. Probably one of the best versions of the corn pizzas I've had. Their pies are thin crust but always have the right amount of toppings and crisp to it. Of course all orders come wih a "sliver" or two of the flavor you choose. A whole pizza is about 28 bucks with 8 pieces and 2 sliver slices on top. Plenty for 2-3 people depending on how hungry you are. It's also never suuuper busy at this location so ordering doesn't take forever. My friends were raving a lot about Cheeseboard and Sliver. I finally tried Cheeseboard about 2 weeks ago, and actually liked it. So I came to Sliver today expecting the same thing. As you may or may not know, Sliver, makes one vegetarian pizza a day. You can go on their website and see pizza line up for the week. Today's pizza was: corn, zucchini, yellow onions, mozzarella, French feta, cilantro, garlic olive oil, and Mexican key limes. I got the pizza of the day and a cookie pie. I'm usually a meat lovers pizza type of guy, but figured I can go veggie for a day. Especially because my experience with Cheeseboard's pizza was good. The cookie pie was a little dry and crispy. Which I liked and have no problems with. The pizza; however, was whatever. It didn't taste or feel like an artisanal pizza. Personally, I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between this and a veggie pizza from elsewhere. Sliver feels like a 3/5 star place, but gave it a 2 star. What prompted me to drop a star was the fact that there was a small bead camouflage with the feta cheese. I bought a half pizza to bring back to my fiancee to try. She was eating it then felt a small bead in the pizza (see my photo). That was extremely off putting. I understand sometimes things like this happen, but they really gotta be careful about it. We're just lucky it wasn't anything sharp like a needle or something. Other than those negatives, the location is good. Ample parking, the space is large with inside seating and patio seating outside. 4 large tv's available for viewing sports. Staff was nice, and service was quick. There's a sauce bar on the side to scoop the green or red sauce. I didn't try the sauces, so I can't speak of it. I wanted to like the Sliver more, but I think Cheeseboard is better. That has been closed for some time, but three new locations have popped up since. Modeled after Cheese Board Pizza where their founding members came from, Sliver Pizzeria serves only one pizza flavor per day which they publish on their website. I never thought I would become a fan of vegetarian pizza, but the freshness of the ingredients and the flavor they bring out have always been enjoyable. Whether it's cremini mushroom, corn (yes, corn!), sun-dried tomatoes, caramelized onions, or even zucchinis, each daily concoction is worth checking out. More often than not, they have garlic olive oil in the mix. While the pizza is great, it's the legendary green sauce that always made the drive worthwhile. The taste of cilantro, garlic, pepper, parsley, and more was amazing. We were surprised to see that they also had a red sauce when we first dined here which we never saw in Berkeley back in the day. It was a very pleasant first visit because there was a two-person band playing that late afternoon. Just like every other restaurant, they closed their doors during the outbreak of COVID-19. As a meat eater, this vegetarian pizza was surprisingly pretty good. They didn't skimp on the ingredients either; there's a nice layer of cheese even. Today's pizza was avocado spread over Roma tomatoes, baby spinach mixed with caramelized onions, mozzarella, and French feta cheese. Every day is a different pizza and it also differs by location. They have multiple spots here in the Bay Area, so check their menu to see what the special is for the day. We also got a side of green sauce and fire sauce for the pizza and that definitely upped the flavor. I'm a bit fan of this fire sauce. It's spicy though, so non-spicy eaters beware. This pizzeria is in a shopping center, so plenty of parking spots available. They also have an outdoor patio in the back, so you can enjoy your pizza while it's hot. And only two little pieces of onion on the whole pizza. Toppings were nonexistent!! I basically paid $23 for a thin crust plain cheese pizza without marinara sauce. I do appreciate the extra slivers they give when you order a whole pizza though. Overall taste was decent, but not nearly as good as other people make it seem. The sauces (both red and green) made the experience better, but the green sauce is way overhyped. Although I do like the flavor of the crust here, I'd rather get pizza elsewhere. I equate calling Sliver and getting through to when I was a teenager trying to get through to the local radio station. Near impossible. It usually takes ten or more redials. Look, Sliver is one of the many pizza spin-offs that owe their creation to Cheeseboard Pizza in Berkeley since three former Cheeseboard employees started the pizzeria chain. Like Cheeseboard they offer one type of vegetarian pizza each day, add two free slivers of pizza on top, and have a magical parsley-based green sauce. I am not a fan of their orange sauce that has way too much cumin in it - it's like eating B.O. yo. Unlike Cheeseboard, Sliver is not an employee-owned co-op. Moreover, two of the original founders left and started Dimond Slice Pizza and Sliver's website says it is now family-owned. Taste-wise, Sliver is pretty legit and tastes as good as Cheeseboard. It's even as greasy. However, calling ahead to order is a pain in the (_x_) that makes me not want to order from them. I guess I am a masochist. Three stars until they start answering their phone. OMG, SLIVER IS GOING UNDER You heard it here first, kids. I went to Sliver on Broadway today, and a slice was $5, so I walked. NFW I'm paying $5. Used to be $3. This tells me they're losing money and are desperate to boost revenues. No surprise. They've been opening restaurants all over the place, and in the ones in more expensive neighborhoods, they have this ridiculous 2-slice minimum policy, and it's $8 for two. This was the case in the North Oakland/Valdez location, which has already closed. Maybe they figure people are bad at math and won't notice the higher price ($4/slice). I'm afraid this fate is fast approaching for the entire Sliver chain, so get it while you can, kids. Can't say I'll miss the B'way location; it's always been the worst.
