    Margherita!

Really fun, bright, casual and delicious pizza place slinging out the same two (usually) pizzas nonstop - you know that means they do it with excellence :) Parking was a little tricky in the industrial surroundings but June's and the beer garden next door are an easy walk to find. Enter through the red door and glance up at the cardboard to find the day's offerings (usually just margherita or pepperoni by the whole, although slices available later at night and specials sometimes available during the week). There's likely a short line but very kind and friendly cashier, and while you wait you can decide if you want to add any sauces to your order (dipping sauces like homemade pesto or garlic sauce), and if you want to pick up any drinks from the fridge. The bathroom is outside of the restaurant in the shared building and is clean and easy to find. Service is quick so don't be alarmed about seating even if the place looks packed - people enjoy their piping hot pizza quickly and there's good turnaround for both the tables and the fun bar where you can watch the pizza dough stretched, sauce spread, toppings arranged, pie fired, and finishing cheese grated on top. We got a half n half (margherita on one side, and margherita with pepperonis on top on the other side basically). The crust was at places a little too black but overall crispy and delicious, and the sauce and cheese on top tasty. The fresh basil leaves to be eaten on top were aromatic chef's kiss and I wish more had been provided! Don't worry, the pepperoni is fancy too and provides a little kick. The price was quite fair for a large and good quality pizza ($36 I believe) and 8 generous slices more than enough for 2 people to share. Overall we really enjoyed everything from the service to the ambiance to the pizza! Thanks, June's!

    Hard surfaces and blaring jazz

We had a white pizza with stone fruit, bacon and chicory. I love creative pizza flavors but I tapped out over one slice. They also had Margherita and pepperoni options. The ambience is industrial and loud, so if you like that sort of hard-surface vibe, go off. There's no sign outside. Parking is impossible especially when some tool in a Rivian takes up 2 spots in the minuscule lot. You are expected to order at the counter, pick up your own paper plates and plastic utensils, bus your own tables, AND leave a tip. The server wiped down one of the tables with a damp towel; instead of collecting the crumbs and detritus in her hand, she wiped them onto the floor and chair seats. The floor was littered with crumbs, shredded cheese and napkins. Perhaps some training is in order. So my overall impression is that there are some interesting ideas at play but execution could use some TLC.

We had such a great time at June's! I love how simple the menu is, only offering three pizzas: margherita, pepperoni, and a rotating seasonal option. The staff were friendly and efficient. They answered my questions about allergens in the dipping sauces. Hooray for tree nut-free pesto! The ambiance was pretty rad too. The space has such tall ceilings that, although the tables are pretty crammed together, it didn't feel very cramped at all. The yellow tile on the pizza oven and the overall aesthetic of the place are really lovely. The pizza was absolutely delicious. We particularly enjoyed the seasonal option, which had zucchini, green onion, and some other tasty toppings. The star of the show, though, was the pesto dipping sauce we got on the side.

I read the reviews and finally gave this place a try. Casual spot with table and bar counter seating by the kitchen. Cool decor. Friendly staff. Service was fairly quick at about a 10-15 min wait with 6 orders ahead of me. XL pizza only (8 large slices) and each one is a meal. Marg and Pepp were the only options besides a 1/2 & 1/2 combo. Pizza tastes great, good mix of sauce, cheese and basil plus pepp, if you choose. This is a definite spot worthy of a visit!

Finally had the chance to the June's pizza! Located near a brewery (perfect combo... pizza and beer) June's pizza is a fast pace pizza restaurant where there's not a lot of option to choose from. Margherita, pepperoni or their weekly special. Straight to the point and full of cheese. Service is quick and seamless, you order, you pay and you wait either for takeout or dine in. Though not a lot of tables, I feel as if it's better suited to take to go to maybe eat with beer next door or even to take home! I got the 1/2 margherita and 1/2 pepperoni. It hit the spot and defo satisfied my pizza cravings. Cooked in a wood oven pizza, drizzled with olive oil on the crust- it was beautiful, magnificent and delicious. I was truly in awe watching the process of making the pizza tbh Not quite sure if I'd go back due to the lack of parking but defo worth the wait for pizza! Bay Area staple

We got the margarita pizza when we came here! I will say, it was a bit oily but the sauce wasn't good. We got the pesto garlic sauce thinking it would be similar to the sauce from cheeseboard but it wasn't similar. This pizza place though is amazing overall great and we came early enough such that there was no line.

The pizza itself was incredible, we got the half and half option. We came around 5:30pm so it was about that "almost" busy time where patrons started rolling in around the same time we did. There's a brewery next door so it could be a little confusing depending on where you parked. There's 2 places to park, the ideal one up front is usually full so we went to the one right the corner adjacent to brewery. Table seating is pretty normal. Watch out for strands of hair on the wall if you sit next to it. Pizza sauces are extra but I think it's a generous serving. The sauces themselves are really good too. When they serve the pizza they don't cut it out to your plate, you gotta grab it yourself which can be a hassle since it's really hot and they don't get you the utensil to pick it up, you just drag it to your plate or that's what we did. -1 star for not providing the utensil needed to get the slices off. We asked and they directly said they can't give us one. +1 star pizza was amazing +1 star sauces amazing +1 star how filling the pizza was with quality ingredients. The parm shavings were amazing and fresh Now to the final -1 star and why we won't be coming back anytime soon. When provided cups for water, our cups were VISIBLY chipped around the rim where we put our lips. We returned the first cup and they exchanged it willingly. Sat down to realize they exchanged it with ANOTHER CHIPPED CUP located on the same area as our other cup. I used my fingers to feel the rim to double check it wasn't just me, it was definitely chipped and I can feel the chip pull on the skin of fingertips. I took the cup myself back to them and let them know they gave us another chipped cup. I was confused why the young lady sighed and said they'll help me in a moment. I stood there waiting and after a few more minutes I flagged down another person and they blew me off with another "someone will help you in a sec" response. I left the cup there and shared the water cup my husband had. I cant confidently recommend this place, thought the pizza is great, as somewhere to sit down and eat in if they can't provide bare minimum utensils for customers to enjoy their pizza OR quality inspect their glass cups to prevent injuries. It's not like the chips were on the bottom, they were on the RIM where your LIPS USE. Pizza great - to go order definitely Sit down dining - no way, I would not recommend them as a sit down option.

Don't judge a book by its cover! Late night on a Friday and we were starving. Either many places closing down or required a reservation- Junes Pizza looked like the only option. I have been to West Oakland plenty of times, but usually not at night especially around 11pm. We ended up driving right past this location and had to loop around. From the outside it's a warehouse with no real visible sign. Pulled up into the parking lot where there were some other cars - only way I knew that we must be at the right spot. Right before you walk in there is a wooden sign for the place - but on the ground :) You walk in and it's bustling! There were people there and they have a decent size for seating. There are only two types of pizza...ever. I asked the staff if they change it up and the said no. Judgment started to creep in as I thought - how can the stay in business with only two pizza options that are almost identical....well the reason why is cause their pizza is DELICIOUS!!!! They have a normal margarita pizza and then margarita with pepperoni. Pizza came out quickly and was so thin and flavorful I was truly blown away. Yea would other pizza options be nice if course, but when the food is so flavorful I don't see why the need to fix something that is already perfect. 100% will come Back

1/2 Pepperoni and 1/2 margarita pizza

Visited on a Saturday around 6pm with a friend, restaurant was busy but no wait to order. Seating was mostly taken so we did togo and ate next door at the brewery. Food: Margarita Pizza - good, crust has a nice chewy texture, with little charged spots, sauce is light and fresh with vibrant tomato flavor, mozzarella is mild and milky with a nice chew, Parmesan on the crust and fresh basil were great to finish off the pie Pepperoni pizza - great, pepperoni cups were nice and small with a good amount of spice and crisped up in the oven nicely, the other toppings were the same as the margarita, wished there was some hot honey on the side for drizzling or dipping the crust into Service was quick and efficient, order at the counter and wait for your pie, which took maybe 10 minutes before our pizza was ready. Loved that there were lots of togo plates available when you picked up the pizza and it was conveniently next to a brewery which had ample seating and outdoor patio space. Overall June's pizza lived up to the hype, really glad we could order our pizza 1/2 and 1/2 to try both styles of the day. A great no frills spot for good pizza, very simple menu, wished the crust was a little crisper in the center and there were a few more toppings options but definitely worth a visit.

First time to June's! Given the hype, we would be worried it would be super busy but we came an hour after opening on a weekday and grabbed a table right away. We wanted to have leftovers to eat through the week so we got 2 whole pizzas+ both rotating sauces. Pepperoni - mini pepperonis evenly spread out and not too salty or oily! Margarita - they put extra red sauce for this pizza and it was perfect with the amount of cheese on top + the giant basil leaves. Chipotle aioli was great for dipping the thin crust, but the caramelized onion sauce was AMAZING and sweet , perfect for adding on top of any pizza! Our favorite parts: the thin crust and basil! We also loved watching them slide the tickets on the mini zipline. Great experience overall and we will be back!!!

Jan 15 2026 4pm 4.0 stars A thirty minute drive for us. We arrived at 3:45 pm. "Oh good" says I. "The front door is open with a welcoming 'OPEN' sign taped on it". We walk in and promptly are told they aren't open till 4pm. We go back to the car to wait. 4pm -The restaurant is clean and the employees are smartly uniformed and seem eager to please. The long haired blond cashier fellow is a champ. Frendly and he is cleaning and polishing during down time while other down time employees are huddled around a coworker's cell phone. I hope the phoneys wash their hands. Jazz music is playing pumped in. This music was pleasant until the restaurant filled with customer's voices competing with each other and the jazz speakers for sound wave band width. You can have any flavor and size pizza you want today. This, as long as you want a large Pepperoni or Margherita pizza or a half and half large pizza. One flavor pizza was $35. Soda $5. All plus Tax for the privilege of dining in Oakland, California. We chose the Margherita as we didn't see the "$37.50 half and half" message scrawled on the bottom left of the overhanging hand written menu. Sadly it looked like they have one beer tap labeled "Beer". I have no clue what type it is. Never mind that. I passed. No diet cola here for those pre-diabetics. Sorry wifey. You serve yourself water, paper plates and napkins. These are found next to the water jugs. No ice. I'm pro Ice. The Men's restroom is spacious (a double staller) and clean. That cleanliness is a good sign. We are amazed at the number of employees standing around at opening hour. Maybe seven? I tell my sweetheart that June's must have a good product and the customers must flood in later in the evening to pay all those employee's wages. The pizza is served piping hot the way I like it. It sports a tasty wood fired oven crust. Slices fold in half and stand up proud. Very tasty dough. I can't stand the waste and eat my wife's discarded crusts. The huge pie size is an illusion as the crust dough is spread thin. You will be suprised how many slices you can down. It was very tasty, though when the last slices cool off they lost some of their charm and the tomato sauce began to taste a bit acidic. My wife didn't notice the acidity so maybe I just had a bad bite. A 45 minute drive home. We may go back. I see there is a brewery next door.

I love this place and I am coming back! Pizza is yummy and definitely try their sauce!! Cashier in the red cap is kind. Good vibes and good amount of people in and out of the restaurant!

Tried this place for the first time on a Saturday at 5pm. Line wasn't long yet, waited like 2 minutes. Parking was terrible though. I just got lucky and after circling the block a spot opened up in the lot. My friend and I shared a margherita pizza and had 2 slices left over. We also got the house white wine. We sat at the counter and loved watching the pizzas being made. We liked the old pizza parlor feel of the place. The pizza is divine. And I'm a pizza snob cause I grew up in NYC. The crust, the sauce, the cheese. All so good. Will definitely be back!

Jeff, the owner and pizza maker, is so nice, warmly welcoming us upon arrival and inquired if we'd prefer indoor or outdoor seating. Beautiful day so opted for outdoor on their expansive back patio. Miso mushroom - new to me, savory and bright flavor. Yuzu and lemon acidity cuts into the savory of the mushroom and miso. Might be one of my new favorites. Soppresata - an OG item on the menu and one of my favorites. Simple classic pizza with soppresata topped with scallions and honey. Savory, sweet. The honey is perfect on this pizza. Longanisa - Filipino inspired with longanisa, baked egg, and tomato. Savory and sweet. Heaviest of the three pizzas. Comes with a side of sweet vinegar to drizzle on top. All three of these pizzas easily are favorites for me. They're super large and best to share with 2-3 people. All thin crust. 6 of us had these three pizzas and were able to finish it but were super stuffed. Wishing the best to Jeff and Spinning Dough's next adventure.

At least I got to go a couple times before they closed and was able to try all the unique flavors that I wanted to try. The first time I went was with my family. We got a whole Ube pizza. The taste was good, and love the uniqueness of it. Even the dough is purple! There weren't that many people there when we went, so the service was quick. My second visit was closing weekend with a group of friends. I got to try two more flavors recommended by the server during my first visit - blackberry and longanisa. Both were very good in different ways. I think I preferred the blackberry slightly over longanisa. They had a lot of take out orders that day, and we got the last white dough (there were still Ube). Good thing we got what we got. Even though they were super busy, the service was still quick and pizza came out fast. I heard they opened up again in San Francisco but for take out only. So glad they reopened because after having the amazing pizzas right before they closed on Oakland, my friends and I were sad that we didn't go sooner. Can't wait to try again in the future.

Their pizzas are already reliably delicious, but this deal is genuinely outstanding value since you get a large 18" pizza, your choice of a Caesar or dinner salad, and four very large sea salt chocolate chip cookies, all for $35. We grabbed two of these specials for a group of six and still had leftovers, so I'd say one combo easily feeds three people and could probably stretch to four as long as no one is absolutely starving. The pizzas themselves are ultra thin but still hold up structurally since you can lift and fold each slice without everything collapsing, which is exactly how I like to inhale my pizza. I personally wish the crust were just a touch more burnt and crackly on the edges, but even without that extra char, the flavor and bouncy chew of the dough were spot on. We ordered the Hot Italian and the Sausage & Roasted Garlic pies and absolutely loved both, especially the housemade sweet Italian sausage that appears on each, which is savory, slightly sweet, and super satisfying in every bite. Their house tomato sauce deserves its own shout out because it hits that ideal balance of sweetness and acidity and ties everything together perfectly. On the Sausage & Roasted Garlic it plays beautifully with the rich roasted garlic purée, and on the Hot Italian it stands up nicely to the Calabrian chilis and chili oil without getting lost. The sea salt chocolate chip cookies that come with the special are huge and packed with chocolate chips, and that little hit of salt really enhanced the flavors but the something about the texture was a bit off for me as it wasn't quite chewy or crumbly but rather something in between, which left me a little confused. Another big plus is that Violetta has a full bar so you can pair your meal with a beer, a glass of wine, or a cocktail to match whatever pie you are in the mood for. Between the quality of the ingredients, the thoughtfulness of the flavor combinations, and the generosity of the Restaurant Week deal, Pizzeria Violetta is an easy recommend and a spot I would happily return to with a group (or by myself with plenty of leftovers!).

I don't know why the pies cost so much, but they are only a few blocks from our place, so I want to support the few restaurants that set up shop in West Oakland. However, I'm starting to sour on this place. I don't mind overpaying for pizza; that's just edible, but on a few occasions, I've been appalled by what these folks try to get away with. A couple of months ago, they gave us a pie that was so burnt I had to call to complain, and they replaced it with a less burnt pie. Perhaps they don't know that extremely burnt food is full of carcinogens. This week, we ordered our usual 18-inch pie. This pie was a Frankenstein pie; half of it tasted like it had been sitting under the lamp all day. A telltale sign is how stiff the cheese is; the old dough feels as if I'm chewing on rubber, and the slices are stiff and salty overall, though some slices taste a bit fresher and crunchier. I was disappointed. If you're going to overcharge for mediocre pizza, the least you could do is give people what they are paying for. If I wanted old, stale pizza, I would've asked for the slices that sit under the lamp all day. Moving forward, if we order from this place, I will walk over, place the order, and wait for it, so we don't get cheated again. This place is a reminder of why certain restaurants often fail. The food is overpriced, and they are inconsistent with their service, if not disrespectful, in how they sometimes treat and feed their customers. We're not pigs; we just like eating the sweet little pig.

Live in Jack London square but haven't tried Heshers since the Crooked City Cider changeover. So glad I gave this a try. While Heshers gives this punk rock, aggro vibe online, inside the staff were warm and super friendly. My bartender helped me find the right drink (a Humboldt blueberry cider at 11% abv) and then I ordered the Meat Fungus pizza (lots of ground meat plus mushrooms). Sat at the bar and enjoyed my cider as well as convo with the other guests and bartender. In about 20 min, my pizza was ready. I took everything to go but was home in minutes. Couldn't wait for the first bite, and was NOT disappointed. Crisp crust pizza... not quite Detroit. Not Sicilian... def not New York style. But absolutely delicious. Came with a few packets of Parmesan and crushed peppers. Added it all and it was too good to leave a single slice for tomorrow. I'll be back, Heshers! Take my money! And thank you!

Ordered a pizza to go from Hesher's and it definitely delivered!…read more First off, the theme here is unapologetically metal. The decor, the attitude, and the music all lean into it--they were blasting metal while I was there, which gives the place a fun, high-energy vibe that feels a little different from your typical pizza spot. If you're into that scene, you'll probably love it. The setup is super casual. You order at the counter and can hang out while you wait. They've got a great beer selection, and there's even an arcade area where you can play some games while your food is being made. It feels like the kind of place where you could easily kick back with friends for a while. I went with the Mortian, their all-meat pizza, and it was absolutely packed with toppings--pepperoni, sausage, and bacon, all garnished with prosciutto. If you're a meat lover, this one delivers. Every slice was loaded and really flavorful. The crust deserves a shout-out too. It's not thin crust, but it's also not deep dish. It lands right in that perfect middle zone--crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Really satisfying and a great base for all those toppings. Even though I ordered it to go, the pizza held up great and was seriously delicious. I'd absolutely order their pizza again and look forward to trying more of the menu next time.
