One of my favorite things to do is discover and checkout new coffee shops. I believe this location opened only a few weeks ago and I couldn't wait to try their coffee. Walking in, you get an awesome vibe. The furniture is very wooden-y and they have edison light bulbs. This is the perfect place to read a book or bring your laptop to study/do work (which i will definitely be doing in the near future). They are situationed on a corner of Main Street and have large windows so it's also a great place to people watch while catching up with a friend or for taking pictures! Love that natural light. I really like their menu, they have a wide variety of caffeinated beverages: cold brew, coffee, tea, kombucha and cold brew specialties (cold brew cocktails, which I haven't really seen before!). Today I got the Peachy Keen which was blueberries, peach and cold brew. I have to say I'm undecided on whether I would get this again. It was definitely interesting but I've just never had fruit infused in my cold brew but I drank all of it and it was refreshing. I got a few sips of my friend's cappuccino which was delicious, no bitterness and just a nice deep flavor. Next time I come I want to try their Nitro Cold Brew or their Ceremonial Matcha. They also sell their cold brew concentrate at the counter if you want to enjoy it at home. I noticed they had a location for live music which i love! OMG! This lives up to its hype. Perfect reading for the perfect cup of coffee (see image)! My friends know I'm a coffee lover and love to try new coffees and visit cafes around the world. And, while on a little road trip, it was recommended that I try this spot. I was not disappointed. May be one of the best cups I've had...we'll see! I ordered their NOVA dark roast, from Columbia--Drip. It was fantastic, heaven in my mouth. Also had a taste of their delicious protein waffles. No complaints, friendly staff, great ambiance, sleek design, and typical new age cafe with a stage for performances. How can you go wrong here?! The coffee is great, the customer service is dismal. I've been a customer since they opened and even before at farmers markets, very disappointed by today's experience. The staff person was standing outside the front door smoking with a friend. I tried to use the restroom after purchasing food and drinks and he said it was closed because of Covid, forgivable, but please provide extra signage before customers order. I am very glad they had outdoor seating during the time of COVID. Indoors and outdoors was super cute. I got a crumb cake, which they warmed up, and it was SO delicious. Now that they are in there soft opening I can do a review proper Staff are friendly and approachable . Facility looks very clean and has an aura of a Williamsburg coffee shop . Love this little coffee shop. It's neat, sleek and pretty on the eyes. But I have to be honest it's a bit intimidating to a person who isn't a coffee lover. But I was honest at the counter and this is what was recommended to me Harvest Spice Latte and it became a habit ever since. They have beautiful pastries and the taste too match. Barista/ server was super helpful, kind and personable. I really appreciate the time she took even when having to manage more than one job. This is a great example of American entrepreneurship. Cheech started selling his cold brew at farmers' markets in the area, and had big plans to open a storefront in Somerville. It took a while, but he finally opened and what a great place. The coffees are great, the coffee mocktails are terrific, excellent baked goods including a lot of gluten-free options, and the staff couldn't be friendlier. The place is hopping every night, and it doesn't hurt that Somerville is becoming more and more trendy places as like Cheech's open. read more

Their coffee/tea and baked goods are fine. Probably the best spot for it on this street but I have two problems with this place. First of all, the customer service. 99.9% of the time the people working here are not nice, I would even say rude? One or two times, I understand. People have off days and working a service job like this with customers who are jerks isn't always easy. But being rude to customers who are always nice and always leave a tip? I don't get it. The other issue is the wait time. I am always waiting several minutes for a drink, sometimes it's busy but even when it's basically empty in there. DO NOT go to this place if you're in a rush for your morning coffee before work. However if these things don't matter to you-go for it. I would still return but not if I'm in a time crunch. read more

Cheech's own is a cute little coffee shop nestled on the Main Street of Somerville. They have some wonderful pastries that are oversized so definitely be prepared to share. I typically get an almond milk cappuccino which is perfectly proportioned with foam, milk and espresso. Some places don't know how to make a good cappuccino but this place does it right. I've also had some of their speciality brewed coffees from their own beans that have been delightful. The staff is always pleasant and friendly. I did go there on a Sunday afternoon and the line was long and there was only one person working which was unfortunate. The place is small and quaint and if you are able to sit, it's good for conversations with a friend or catching up with your favorite book. The place is clean and they have complimentary water. I went in looking for an alternative to Starbucks in Somerville and they really disappointed me. I asked for a quad iced with coconut milk and a little bit of vanilla flavor in my reusable cup. She gave it back to me and there was ice on the top with the shots on the bottom. It looked like there wasn't any milk so i asked her where it was and she said she put it in. I took a sip and it was straight up espresso with overpowering sweetener. The flavor isn't good and there was no milk so it was like a thick overpowering espresso which i was trying to cut with the milk. I'm disappointed :( read more

I'm missing a little more complexity for the price point, but it does the trick. Space is ideal for working with WiFi, windows galore looking out on the street, and adequate climate control. I've been here before when it used to be named Cheech's Own, and the quality of the place was so nice back then. But then I visited Lucid Coffee this past weekend... and it was a huge disappointment. My friends and I ordered hot chocolates, and all of our drinks were watered down. You know how much powder is in a Swiss Miss packet of hot cocoa powder? Take an eighth of that powder, and that's how strong the taste was in our hot chocolates. Usually I'd chalk the quality up to being a random dud, but all of our drinks ended up tasting bland. At least they're consistent with that. Not only that, but the barista working ended up being rude. My boyfriend asked if a certain pastry was available since it was on the menu but he didn't see it in the display case: Barista: Do you see it in the case? BF: No Barista: Then we don't have it. I want to be understanding since the barista was working alone that day, but he didn't have to passively aggressively put his negative mood onto the rest of us. The bad mood coupled with the poor quality drinks put a bad taste in our mouth. Would rather go get a drink from Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts (which is only a few steps down Main Street from Lucid, so just go there instead for more reliable service.) read more

Not only is the interior super cute with a cool and chill vibe, the workers are all super knowledgeable and helpful when it comes to picking out what will fancy your taste buds. Personally I can't have a whole cup of coffee and milk and cream just doesn't agree with me, but this gem spot offers specialty drinks with juices and coffee!
