I came to this nail shop with 2 other people. We both got full sets & pedicures. They said they can do ours. I'm not sure what is the lady who did my nails but she is very unprofessional. I asked her to get coffin nails but a bit shorter because of work. She mutter in her language saying " How does she want coffin nails but want them short ?" Well I thought I should get nails on the way I want to shape them. So while the process of getting my nails done, she uses a paint brush to brush of the powder & uses scissors to get the coffin shape. Out of all the nail shops I go, I had never seen this. So while doing my nails the lady admire my face saying I'm young but looking down my body I am TOO fat. That's right folks, and they still don't know I can speak Vietnamese. That's a shame and not great customer service. Also they will charge you fees as shaping coffin nails or taking nail polish off yet they don't tell you. The lady who did my nails constantly complain asking why we are here & if we don't have anywhere else to be. It's not our fault we came & you guys were short on staff today. I am more upset because someone decide to face time their family members in Vietnam asking them if they want to be introduce to Hispanics. & started showing our faces to the phone. I am mix with Vietnam and American. & my sister in law is Hispanic & American while her baby sister is American. Throughout the whole experience they keep going at & complain about us. & I didn't like my shape and I told the tech and she said she will fix it & never touched it. I've lived in Houston for at least 10 years now and I can tell you that I've been to more than my fair share of nail salons. I'm super picky about where I get my nails done. All the nail salon stereotypes are ALMOST all true. The Vietnamese ladies do talk about you and they do pretend to be nice to you to your face. However, that doesn't happen here. The people that run this place are guys (brothers). They are really nice once you get to know them. I like to allocate at least two hours to get my pedicure because they can get really busy. Why 2 hours? Because they really do take your time on you. They don't try to rush you out the door like most places do. At the moment they only have 3 people working there. This isn't a fancy smancy place but the service you get is EXCEPTIONAL. They are always nice and the have grown to be like family over the past few years. I wouldn't even think about getting my nails done anywhere else. Go to Bao for AWESOME pedicures. No one does them better than him. Cleanliness? Trust me. This place is as clean as it gets. I have seen with my own eyes the way they clean. No other nail shop cleans as well as these guys. Go and try it out for yourself. You won't be disappointed. i have to agree with the Diana N. (previous reviewer), this is a diamond in the rough. There are *plenty* of nail places to choose from in this area and that's how I ran into this place - my old place was booked and I needed service on a Friday afternoon. Their service rotation impressed me off the bat. My old place, if you did not have an appointment and walked in.. well.. you just sat there and were just assumed out of luck - I understand, I was a walk in.. but 45 min?.. ouch. This place, they had a couple people on feet, one on nails and asked what I wanted to do. I said nails, they said great, go look over colors, take your time, then come and sit at station 2. I'm a difficult case, I know, I bite my nails A LOT. I told them I wanted something short and natural, but I mainly wanted it to stop biting my nails. They suggested a few things, talked amongst the guy sitting at nails and feet, then decided it was no problem, station 2. A girl showed up, cleaned up my nails, cuticles, etc and prepped them. As she finished, the nail guy was ready for me.... nice pass to process, making use of my wait time! The nails, standard natural look with white tip I had before. Two things I noticed that were different: he made sure they were short, my type of short, and natural. As a nail biter, I'm not used to nails and he quickly adapted, asked how short I wanted them, had me feel them out after, cut them with nail clippers then fine tuned them by filing down until i was comfortable.. detail. The second thing was after all the nails were done, he did a sort of clean under? the nail. I hate when all the gook or gel is under the nail and becomes a mess... he made sure under the nail was as smooth as he could get it, for easy cleaning. Then? another quick pass to as the foot guy comes over, makes sure the hands are dried.. here I was *positive* this pass would fail as the other guy had already done one hand dried, with oil on cuticles. NO, next guy comes over, puts oil on second hand, makes sure they're clean, dry, then stands and waits to give me creams and oils for hands and arms... and checks me out. going back FOR SURE! Don't remember how I came across this place. I was currently In pursuit of my go-to salon. It's in a strip mall that is quite old with pretty bad parking. The place is run by two brothers, Vu and Brandon. Vu tends to stay with hands and waxing(as far as I know) and Brandon does feet.They play the radio and a small TV during business hours. The place is quite outdated in décor and their equipment, such as the massage chairs. Does have a limited selection of polishes. I go on mostly Thursdays/Fridays/Saturdays to get my solar sets. It can be a VERY long wait if you come at the wrong time. I once stayed 3 hours on a Friday for a take off, full set, and pedicure. Lots of young people frequent this place, and their young children are usually bratty and unruly to my dismay. Despite all of their faults, I find the service and quality of work consistently satisfying and thorough. And this place is VERYY very cheap. $17 for a refill and paint is the cheapest I've seen around this area. My advice: Update equipment, get a higher selection of paints and gels, make environment more relaxing, and hire more people! read more

They are awesome here this actually was sold twice in the time frame I've been a client at this salon. Julie and Tony are super sweet people as well Nancy thier employee. They are very attentive and gentle when giving a service. I normally get just mani/pedi done but today I treated myself for my birthday next week and got a full set. I generally get pink and white but today Julie said why don't you try American it's nice and natural. I went ahead and tried the American tips on this visit. I really enjoy my visits to this nail salon. I feel like they are my family but it helps i speak fluent Vietnamese. But they do speak English as much as possible. . I am kinda picky since my 2 older sisters have owned salons and have been in the Industry for over 12 years.. as well as few cousins/ friends that are nail technicians. Did I mention I am an active licensed Cosmetologist?( Hairstylist). Please come show support to a small family operated local business. It's not a fancy place but they do a great job and the prices are VERY affordable! Thank you the staff at Amber nails for making me feel warm and welcomed every time I am there for a service. The Amber Nails & Spa is really close and convenient to our house so we figured we would give it a go! The first few trips were a little rough but in November of this year 2019, they became under new management, and Mike is amazing! I just moved into the area so ive been looking for a new nail salo . I was dissapointed in this place. When I came in I wasn't greeted, I was just stared at until I said what I wanted. I got a shellac manicure and it was pretty below average. Within 5 minutes of me leaving my shellac started to peel off, it wasn't hard or set at all. It's been a few days and the ends of my nails are jagged from the shellac peeling off. I don't work in an environment where my nails would experience damage. I've never had this problem before. They are very on point about making sure you aren't just sitting around waiting, which I love and their prices are awesome. ($23 for a full set, $20 for ped, & $6 for eyebrows.) Went in today to get pedicure, but the technician /owner was on the phone for too long, speaking in Vietnamese, obviously a personal call. This has happened to me before while I am in pedicure chair. I think it is very unprofessional and rude. They use a wireless ear piece so they can talk as they are doing pedicure. So, I will be finding another nail salon. WORST SERVICE EVER! My sister in law went there a few months ago and the service was excellent. We went back today and it was the worst 20.00 i have ever spent. To start things off the water was cold for me and my friend. We told them twice and the water still wasn't warm after that. My sister in law asked for the special for both of us...needless to say we only got pedicures. My feet weren't scrubbed and there was no massage. I wasn't even asked if I wanted an upgrade. She was done with my pedicure in 20 minutes. I asked for water and the lady smacked her lips! My friend asked for shellac and they told her to go home and take the shellac off of her toes and come back! Then they tool 2 hours to do her shellac mani/pedi! I can't speak on the service because I didn't stay long enough to allow them to give me a pedicure. I called prior to going and asked if they could accommodate three simultaneous pedicures. The woman who answered said yes and asked what time we were coming; I told her we were on the way. When we walked in a man was seated near the door and the salon was empty. He turned to us with no greeting; one of my sisters asked if he was alone, he said his wife was there with him. We already knew the service would be sub-par because there weren't enough technicians. We decided to give them a chance and they told us to select a color. Both of my sisters complained about the water temperature. I put my feet in the water and asked the woman to raise the temperature. She turned the cool water off and I put my toe under the faucet to just gauge it, it was lukewarm, to which they responded, "the machine is low so that's as hot as it gets." We decided to leave and the woman said ok I don't care. My sister noticed as we were leaving that though they drained the tubs, no disinfectant was applied. Hopefully they cleaned them after we were out of sight. Needless to say, we'll not be going there ever again. read more

So I decided to try a new place. I go in, I pick out my color and the lady starts to take off my nails, well let me rephrase that, yanks off my nails, the old ones I had on. After I told her it was hurting me she still continued to pull off my nails. Hurting me each time. I then go on to get my nails done by a guy and he was doing good til the very end where I look over my nails, and I ask him to correct something. I get blamed for messing it up. Like what?? I have been doing my nails the exact same for almost 4 years now. Solar. Every time. I know what I need to do and what they need to do.
