Once upon a time I trusted this mechanic and so did my whole family and then I trusted him with a bigger job and his work almost got me into a life-threatening accident. He has one mechanic now my axle was not reconnected. Bolt were put on the wrong place. There was a leak and I nearly died. He threatened me with an attorney and didn't refund any of my money. Sad to say because at one point this mechanic was actually really good Too bad they got lazy and do not care about people safety. read more

And John was always rushing me off the phone and being evasive as to when he would get around to my car. I contacted John on Monday of this week July 14th inwhich he stated to me that he had told me he was behind on jobs and was backed up. I told him he actually did not mentioned that fact to me until a few days after having my car towed to his shop. John then stated to me I could take my vehicle somewhere else. But he would call .e ba k in a few minutes. He never did. So today Tuesday on July 15th I had a tow truck driver go to pick up my van. Amberger gave the tow truck driver a hard time and stated I owed money. Which was a blatant lie! I called to see why he was stating I owed him money and he had done absolutely nothing to the vehicle. He attempted to fraudulently get $125 to release my van. I tried to speak with him but he was not making any sense, became insulting and started talking about my soul and such. It was really off the top. I told him I was coming to get my van and I was going to ask the Police to be there which I did and the Police were coming. When I pulled up with a neighbor. I was able to take my van, which I drove home because the tow truck driver had left. John is a horrible person, you can't be a good person when it is suitable to be. read more

It has been years since I had someone I could trust with auto repair. I'm so thankful good friends recommended John to me. First he gave me a complete quote for the work ahead of time. He also found that I didn't need some recommended flushes that Lamb's on Slaughter Ln said I absolutely needed. Lamb's wanted $2K for new brake pads, rotors and unnecessary brake fluid flush and another flush. Well for $650 John provided new brakes and rotors with a warranty and got my continued business. Don't judge the business by the out of the way location - it's worth the drive! read more

They know what they're doing and whatever they're doing is right. They're not like other mechanics who try to upsale things, or try to sell you things that you really don't need. I'm going to unofficially claim myself as an official regular. They're super knowledgeable and highly skilled. It's almost like they xray vision and can just look at your car and know what's wrong with the mechanics. I brought in my flooded, salvaged title 2010 Corolla and almost lost hope in it, thinking it was done, but nope, John and Jeremy stuck to their words, and literally had it good as new in one day!!! Anywhere else, I'm sure I would've been ripped off, overcharged for labor, and probably have to carpool for a week. I'm definitely coming back. Impossible is definitely not in their dictionary! Having recently moved from Colorado where my mechanic is my neighbor and has fixed my vehicles for a few years, I was no less than extremely skeptical in my search for a mechanic when my truck was stalling out. Luckily, my first call was to Amberger Automotive. I brought my truck in that day and they were able to figure out what the problem was. Turns out there were a few problems and they addressed each of them. What great service, what kind people. Mr. Amberger was helpful and explained things clearly. I was still a little nervous to hear the cost and to my surprise, it was far less than I assumed it would be. John's a great guy. he has great mechanics. My wife's car runs better than it ever has and the work was done in short amount of time.

Had a friend of mine just assaulted at this shop. He had taken his vehicle to be diagnosed and they agreed on a price. When he got back to pick up the car, they wanted to charge $100 more without having consulted anyone, especially the owner of the car. My friend told them that he'd not pay the difference because he was not consulted and that he would pay the amount that they had agreed on. John, the mechanic, got all flustered and sent my friend off in a huff. 2 miles down the road, check engine light comes on...he goes back to the shop and John and his son tell my friend that "he didn't pay the bill and had to get out of the shop"...my friend said what are you talking about? I just paid you $480 dollars, which is what you had agreed to do the work for...the two guys come over and try to assault my friend, who by now is with the police on the other line...police shows up and the mess was done. Wow...it seems they're writing their own reviews here. This is enough to get these people in jail. read more

I am absolutely amazed by the honesty and integrity of Mr. Amberger. The quality of his work for the price is unmatched. I don't assume that most mechanics are trying to take advantage of their customers, but most won't go out of their way to save you money and effort. I had taken my car to a local dealership service department a year ago in order to be given a wild estimate for merely looking for a misfire. It didn't include repair or any other potential issues (used to patron the dealership regularly but it had been sold twice in 3 years...different people now). I had a friend of family do some work but to no avail. I brought it to John earlier in the year. His crew located the problem and fixed it in no time. I was skeptical that it wouldn't misfire again when I turned the vehicle on, but she ran beautifully and has since. I was impressed and convinced. Fast forward to today. The vehicle needed some more work (unrelated), some of it not so friendly to the wallet, specifically this time of year. HOWEVER when I found Amberger Automotive on Yelp last year, I did not go looking for the cheapest...I went looking for the best. I got fantastic service here a few months ago. I was told what took place (timing belt flew off) could possibly be devastating to the engine or anything really and to brace myself. I did. He called back after a few nerve wracking days to say we were all good! (Could have seriously been taken for a ride at other places!) The quoted amount was exactly what I paid, down to the dollar. But, here's the kicker, I called him today to ask advice on another mechanics diagnosis (we've since moved north) he told me exactly what the problem was and what to tell the new guy. It was spot on advice, probably saved me hundreds! He even offered to check out the work for me to make sure we're all good under the hood. Mechanic for life! read more

My wife's starter went out 2 days ago, we were going to tow it to the dealership but I talked with the tow truck driver to see if he had any recommendations. I am glad I did. Jhan at amberger was very responsive to my calls and they got the issue resolved quickly and reasonably. Really happy with the service. My husband and I have been going to Amberger for a couple years now for various items such as break pad replacement, a gasket valve cover on my old car and now an AC issue with my current car. John is very friendly and professional - great at explaining what needs to be done and why. We've always been satisfied with the end result of any work done here. Do not take your car specially if it European, they will screw it and they spent several days, then will break again after couple months for the same problem. Im very very disappointment. read more
