Worst local pizza spot i've "tried"... Came in with some buddies to give them a try despite the rating. But i guess you should listen to it, cause the service was not it. Waited for our pizza for 1hr as we watched other parties that came after us get their orders! Isn't that crazy lol. We waited and waited... went up to the counter and asked what was going on. The only thing we got was that they "forgot" as they got busy... and yet they still were able to serve others after us? They really need to step up their customer service and staff duties. Don't come here often but when we do .... Boy it's so so good! Got the lunch special, large slice, salad and drink. Fills me up. Didn't have too much time but our food was up and ready pretty quick so we ended up having a good time and not having to rush. read more

Every time I'd finish sweating it out at the gym next door, that giant red "Ambrose Pizza" sign would taunt me as I trudged to my car. Pizza?! who doesn't crave that cheesy perfection after a workout? The temptation built like a slow burn, until one evening.... I caved! I ordered a large margherita pizza and buffalo wings, picturing the surprise on my wife's face, the kid's excitement, and yeah, satisfying my own growling stomach. The drive home was torture... the aroma teased me from the passenger seat, promising glory.. We gathered around the box like kids at Christmas, ripping into slices with greedy abandon. But ten seconds in, bites half-chewed, we locked eyes--eyebrows arched in shared horror. Flavorless... Utterly bland dough.. toppings that tasted like regrets. The wings saved the 1 star review, packing heat and tang, and the ranch being the savior. Fire and consistent! Been coming here since I was 10 and I still come here! The slices of pizza are the best, the wings bomb. The fries tossed in buffalo amazing. Their dressings are good. We stopped by for lunch during the week recently and found Ambrose Pizza to be very welcoming. It was also very busy! The ambiance is right up my alley too reminiscent of how Shakey's Pizza used to look in the 80's. To save time we were encouraged to order online right from our seats in the restaurant. I ordered a turkey sandwich and drink and it was ready quickly. The turkey was fresh and the bread was fresh as well. Reasonable prices too. I'll be back for pizza soon! Plenty of parking outside. A classic. Been coming here since I was a kid. Sometimes it can take a minute for your food to come out but that's because it's made with lots of love lol, I recently started ordering pastrami pizza with pickles and pineapple...controversial, I know but don't knock it until you try it. You can expect big portion sizes by the slice. A small/medium slice is not your average slice of pizza, it's a big pizza and they will cut it into multiple slices in the shape of a square for you. The dough is more on the thicker side, nothing like a NY style pizza. They always have sports games on so it's a perfect place to come and watch a game. read more

Not sure if Ambrose is under new ownership or the original cooks are gone, but this pizza is absolutely terrible. The dough is flavorless, it used to be thick but with a nice crunch on the bottom, that's all gone. The veggie pizza used to be one of my favorites, fresh vegetables (onion, olives, bell peppers, tomatoes) on top of the gooey melted cheese. Now it's a mess and doesn't even look appetizing. I miss the old Ambrose pizza, if this is the pizza they're going to be making going forward, it's time to find a new pizza spot. read more

Whole heartedly a love and bias for Ambrose. Take that in consideration for why I gave my experience a 5 start. Because I love their food, their location. We Wifey and I can here for lunch. I wanted a sandwich and was thinking of those other joints. She suggested Ambrose and boy was she right. We both had the Italian Club. Ok you may argue too much lettuce, not enough meat. I say opposite. Love the thing sliced lettuce. The meats in the sandwich are plentiful and tasty. But the star and it has been for decades is the bread. The right composition of softness in the crust , firm middle and wonderful taste. The bread recipe is regional treasure. The staff has changed in 20 plus years but service still makes this feel like a local hangout. Keep going Ambrose I will keep being a loyal fan. read more

Pulled out a big piece of plastic that looked like it was apart of the pizza dough. I called location and spoke to their manager Alonso who was no help. He asked for pictures through his personal cell and I sent him these pictures, and he claimed that they don't use this plastic in their kitchen pretty much calling me a liar saying it looks "fraudulent". Sooo good I have been coming here for years . I normally get the pastrami pizza with extra ranch . Make sure if you get this pizza ask for the one that has pickles because they also do go in with just a pastrami by itself. I order typically just place an order and it's ready within 20 to 25 minutes. Did you have a lot of space if you wanna eat there and different types of pizza and I really get by the slice just because I'm the only one that likes pastrami but they have small medium large slice and they're pretty generous with their slices. There were no apologies- and their explanation was that "the ravioli is frozen so it's taking a long time". 45 minutes for food is insane, especially with no notice. I used to go to the location in Whittier in the 1970's so it was great to find another location in La Mirada. Pizza was pretty good. I brought it to a friend in a rehab place near there. She enjoyed it as well. I will say when I picked up the pizza that the gentleman running the cash register was not as pleasant as he could have been. I used to go to the original Ambrose Pizza in my youth. Went to this location, which was nice. Big screen TV's all around to see the football game. It was packed when I got there. The food was good. Not as delicious as I remembered it. We had the Combo, the Picante, the Canadian bacon and pineapple, and a cheese pizza. The Combo was the best of the four, we also ordered two anti pasta salads, chicken wings and calamari. The wings were tough and the calamari was burnt. The lady at the register was sick. Although she was wearing gloves, she kept coughing into her sweatshirt . If you're sick, stay home! There were 5 adults and one child in our party. There was plenty of left over food. We would have been good with two XXL pizzas. I would definitely return for the Combo Pizza. read more

When I was young we use to always go to the Ambrose pizza in uptown Whittier their pizza is so unique the crust is a combo of crusty outside and soft fluffy inside and I love their cheese is more mozzarella. When I went to this location it was like Deja Vu the pizza was exactly the same as I remembered and every time I go it's consistently the same. The pizza is good, been here a few times to watch games. Then comes a rude lady. We ordered a certain flavor wings, waited until it cools down because it usually comes in really hot. After 15 minutes of cooling down, as we took the first bite, it wasn't the flavor we ordered. In addition, we ordered a soda and she gave us an empty cup with ice. Anyways an elderly lady brought the correct flavor wings to our table and had to make a comment to us pretty loud. "Next time let us know right away because it looks like you guys have been eating it." We tried telling her that we took a bite each and that's when we knew it was the wrong flavor. This is my go to pizza spot have been coming here for 10 + years and the food is excellent but there customer service needs some improvements. I ordered a large pizza and came to the store to pick up after a 20 minute drive and they had made a small instead and when they were going to remake it I would have to pay remaining difference when they should have taken care of that since it was there fault. When asked to speak to a manager they said there is no manager and only an owner but no manager this is definitely not ok. Found a piece of hair in our food on two separate occasions. First time a piece was cooked into a wing. The second time is was under the cheese on a slice of pizza. Worst customer service ever !! Came in with family and ordered a large pizza for my party. The lady right away gave me attitude when ordering while i kindly asked her give me a second . She kept saying "any thing eles" " Anything eles". Second of all waited 1 hour in a half for just a large pizza only pepperoni and ham ! Went to the counter and asked how long 30 min past by and they respond with it'll be out in a few minutes. Another 20 min past by and same response. We waited and mind you they were serving another parties their pizzas which made us upset we were hungry . Never recommending this place to anyone. Manager that wasn't manger didn't want to give us our refund because the pizza was already made and placed on the counter only a $5 refund for the drinks but not the pizza ?¿ Guy continued to disrespect us calling us ghetto for speaking up and asking how long for the pizza.
