It also comes with two different sauces that are both incredibly flavorful and compliment the calamari perfectly. 10/10 Papardelle Vodka -This is truly the best pasta in all of the land! It's rare to find a dish where the sauce, the pasta, and the protein are all this high quality. La Tavolata in Artesia is probably my favorite place for spaghetti and meatballs. What makes it outstanding is that their noodles are clearly house made. The spaghetti has an outstanding chew to it. Their meatballs are made of veal, which gives a nice savoriness. Calamari tastes freshly breaded with chewy rings and crispy legs. My wife loves their pappardelle vodka, which has a craveable sauce over their freshly prepped noods. I found my new favorite local Italian spot! We made a reservation for a Friday evening and were seated upon arrival. After ordering, they brought us some of their garlic bread with bruschetta on top. They also give you a little dish of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread was yummy, and I love that you can ask for more! I was eyeing the Spaghetti alla Cammorista that has spicy tomato sauce and chile-garlic shrimp. I wasn't sure how spicy it would be, so our server said they could adjust the spice level to make it less spicy. She also said she would bring some chili flakes on the side in case I wanted to add more spice. It wasn't spicy at all, so I don't think ordering it as is would be too spicy! I appreciated how much shrimp they gave in this dish! The sauce was tasty, and you could tell that the pasta was freshly made. They also bring your parmesan cheese to add in if you'd like. Another dish that seems to come up over and over again on reviews is their Fettuccini Compleanno. It has spicy pink sauce shredded chicken, Andouille sausage, tasso ham, and shrimp. I can definitely see why this one is popular--its so good! The pink sauce is the perfect blend of acidity and creaminess. I enjoyed the variety of ingredients as well. La Tavolata has been my go-to for handmade pasta since they opened in Cerritos years ago, so this visit was a bit surprising. I ordered my usual Pappardelle Vodka, but the noodles were overcooked, and the sauce was very milky/lacking flavor. It's normally perfectly balanced, so this was unexpected. We also tried the Scaloppine de Pollo al Limone (similar to a chicken piccata dish). The chicken was juicy, and the sauce had amazing flavor, but the pasta tasted more like ramen noodles than spaghetti, which threw us off. This is my new favorite local Italian restaurant. The interior is very homey and simple. My party of 6 easily made reservations a week in advance for a weekend dinner, but I think the wait time can be up to 45 minutes. Fairly small on the inside, so if you have a larger party than 4 I'd recommend making a reservation. They bring complimentary bread to your table while you wait for your food. We ordered the calamari, caesar salad, and caprese salad. Everything was good, but the caesar was a bit too salty. I ordered the Penne alla Salsiccia, which is penne pasta with pink sauce, chicken, and Italian sausage. It's my favorite dish from here. Others in my party ordered the Frutti Di Mare spaghetti, lasagna, fettucine alfredo, and more. Everything was good. Service was nice too. Soooo disappointing. They serve warm bread with parm and oil that is tasty once you're seated. We started with a mango avocado caprese that was also good--although, I would note that the mozzarella was like Trader Joe's (not bad but not fresh mozzarella di bufala). The most disappointing and inedible dish of all was the trenette with pesto. While the pasta tasted home made the pesto was the too-often-seen-in-American-restaurants pesto cream soup and pretty flavorless (we all agreed that it wasn't even salted properly). My friend who had the ravioli bolognese was satisfied and reported that the ravioli were homemade. The eggplant parmigiano was ok in that the eggplant was properly cooked but not particularly tasty. It came with a side of overcooked rehydrated penne that was like mush. The service was not horrible. Our server was polite but unwilling to split two entrees. She did bring us a couple of little plates. Given that one of the entrees was the pesto, there ended up being no need because that dish was so awful that we each tried one bite and wanted nothing to do with it. This is when a suburb server would notice that it hadn't hardly been touched and apologize and comp it. No such offer or apology. I would never go back! read more

The papardelle and pink sauce here are so good! My favorite dish is the fettuccini cumpleanno, but sub papardelle. The noodles are cooked to a perfect al dente and there is so so much flavor. I came here for the first time last night with a friend of mine and absolutely loved this little hidden gem! The service was quick and friendly. All of the food was HOT and steaming and fresh. You can taste the freshly hand made pasta. The sauces were rich and creamy and the flavors were so bold and delicious! Lots of fresh garlic on the garlic bread (vampires beware!) The strawberry lemonade was sweet yet refreshing for a warm, summer evening! The inside is pretty small, so make sur you come at a good time as I believe they are only open for dinner time. But you can also just see all the decor with the wine bottles and open kitchen concept just makes you feel like you are in Italy! My partner and I came to La Tavolata for our anniversary dinner! I've been once before years ago but truthfully did not remember my experience and I was looking forward to giving this spot another try. Location wise it's sandwiched in between many other businesses in a very busy strip mall. I found parking but I felt I was more lucky than anything else, seeing as it was a very packed lot. The space itself is a small, but charming location perfect for a date night or outing with friends. Since there aren't many tables, reservations seem like a must, but I was able to get a reservation no problem the night before (my reservation however was for a time slot half an hour before they closed so do what you will with that info). The service both over the phone and at the restaurant was stellar. Our server was friendly, helpful, and really great at his job! We ordered a bottle of wine, and he not only gave us recommendations but let us sample a few wines to help us make our selection. He was very attentive and definitely a standout during our visit. The food was also very solid. For starters we originally wanted a house salad, but since it was almost closing, we were told they were out of any salads with leaves. We opted for the Caprese Salad which was unfortunately a let down. While it's a very simple dish it really didn't mesh well overall and I've had way better Caprese salads at other Italian spots. The pasta however was definitely a winner! My Penne alla Salsiccia was tasty and was big enough for leftovers. My partner's Tortellini was also fantastic really hit its mark. Overall we were satisfied with our meal, we just might have enjoyed a different appetizer. We got seated right away last night near the front of the restaurant by the kitchen so we had people passing by our table constantly. I would ask for a table off to the side next time. We started with the Insalata Caprese , and the Insalata Cesare. Both were excellent. The salad was very crisp and fresh and the dressing was not your typical ceasar, it was even better. We also ordered soup that never came so we had to take that off the bill at the end. For our entrees we got the following: Scaloppine di Pollo al Limone, Spaghetti alla Carbonara, and Spaghetti ai Frutti di Mare . We all loved our dishes. The portion sizes are very generous and you definitely get your money's worth here. The pasta is very fresh and the sauces are all delicious. The sauce was exactly what I was hoping for. It was velvety, flavorful, and hit all the right notes. The pork pieces were a little fatty and chewy for my taste, but I usually prefer leaner meats anyway, so I just ate around them. The pasta itself was cooked perfectly and held the sauce really well. She really elevated the entire dining experience. Wish I got her name. Unfortunately, our first interaction set a very different tone. The hostess who greeted us seemed visibly irritated that we arrived about an hour before closing. She was curt, unwelcoming, and noticeably impatient while seating us, which made us feel uncomfortable right from the start. There was also a sense that she may have been speaking about us to other staff, which didn't help the situation. In case there are multiple hostesses that work there - she was a young, thin/petite, dark hair, and doesn't smile much. That said, everyone else on the team was spectacular and professional, and the quality of the food truly speaks for itself. I hope management takes note because this restaurant is clearly doing so many things right. One unfriendly front-of-house interaction shouldn't overshadow an otherwise excellent experience. Surprisingly, I found my pasta to be lacking in saltiness, which is a critique I never give considering that I am an eater who tries to limit how much salt I consume daily. We have been coming here for years and usually love this place. We often celebrate special occasions here with large extended family gatherings, spending several hundred dollars at a time, and we also come a few times a year with just our immediate family. Until tonight, our experiences have always been very pleasant. Unfortunately, tonight was a complete exception. We had a reservation to celebrate a birthday tonight, February 16th, at 5pm. We are normally greeted with happy faces but the hostess was not friendly at all and the restaurant as a whole did not seem to have the warm and welcoming feel it usually has. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The floors were extremely slippery, so much so that TWO people in our large party fell at different times during our visit. These were not minor slips, the falls were hard and PAINFUL! Not to mention extremely embarrassing![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The situation should have been addressed after the first person fell, but the floors were not remedied until AFTER a second person in our party unfortunately fell as well. What was most disappointing is that not a single staff member came over to check on us or offer an apology after either of the falls occurred. On top of that, the squid ink pasta special was very spicy, almost intolerable, and there was absolutely no mention of this in the menu description. Our waitress also did not warn us about the level of spice when my 8 year old, who loves seafood, ordered it. I mean, I can kind of understand not thinking about mentioning it to an adult, but common sense would tell you that a small child would not be able to handle that amount of heat. Needless to say he couldn't eat it at all, and I ended up giving him my dinner instead. Even for me, the spice level was too much to enjoy, so his meal went completely untouched. Had I not ordered soup and had complimentary bread, I honestly would have gone without a proper meal. If our waitress had ever come to the table to offer refills on drinks, or check how our food was tasting, I would have let her know he didn't like it. We've had many great memories here over the years, which makes this experience especially disappointing.
