Yeah, I know it's very carby, but the flavor profile is all there. The Rose pasta was my favorite because it had a nice touch of creaminess and savoriness. The bread that kinda looks like a Naan is fluffy and soft on to chew on. Doesn't hurt your jaw like most crispy bread. Second time at Il Fiora in Buena Park, and we came back for one reason--the carbonara. It's surprisingly hard to find a spot that serves it with the egg yolk on top, so having a place nearby that does it right keeps us coming back. Still just as good as we remembered. We also shared a margherita pizza, which was delicious, and ended up with plenty of leftovers (always a win). Paired everything with a nice Pinot Noir, and it made for a great meal overall. We did come pretty close to closing time, so service wasn't quite as strong as the first visit--but it also wasn't very busy, so it seemed like they were just wrapping up for the night. They have a beautiful outside seating and pretty indoor seating. I usually see people reserving the outside area for a special event (bridal shower, graduation party, etc.). My all-time favorite items to get here are the Gamberetto Rosa/Shrimp Pasta, Carbonara, and Funghi Pizza. When you order an entree, you get their complimentary fluffy, airy bread which is the same dough used for their pizzas. I've also tried the Il Fiora Cioppino, Gorgonzola Pizza (which comes with honey), Spicy & Honey Pizza (has pepperoni, jalapeño, and honey) and the Bistecca Di Controfiolletto (USDA Prime Rib-eye). Both pastas were delicious, the sauces were rich, creamy, buttery, and full of flavor. If you like mushrooms, I definitely recommend the truffle gnocchi. Prices were high, with most dishes over $20. After reading other reviews before coming in, I found that the food did not have the Korean flavors or influence some had suggested. - Bread (complementary): Made from pizza dough, which was a unique. It came out warm, fluffy, and slightly chewy, and we appreciated the free refills with oil and vinegar. - Calamari: The thick-cut rings were tender rather than chewy, with a light, crisp breading. It was well fried but fairly plain in flavor and didn't come with tentacles, just rings. - Di mare pomodoro: It's a spaghetti with mussels, shrimp, scallops, and calamari in a tomato sauce. Regardless, the taste is consistent and I'd say the Pomodoro pasta is the best choice. I tried their Funghi pizza and it was disappointing; there was barely any mushrooms and too much cheese. I've tried a couple of their items in the past and the ones that gave me a solid impression were the Di Mare Pomodoro pasta, Margherita Pizza, and one of their salads. I love the service here. They're always helpful, friendly, and welcoming. Most of them are also fluent in Korean if you prefer to speak Korean. The ambiance inside is pretty and clean. The salami pizza was my second favorite of the night. I loved how the salami was thin and incorporated throughout the pizza slice so it's not just in a few bites. It came with the lot of arugula on top, which is great for also getting in some fresh veg. Both the shrimp rose pasta and the salami pizza are must-gets! Others that were really good was the chicken alfredo and the cioppino - the flavors for both were really good and the alfredo came with a lot of chicken and the cioppino with a lot of seafood. The mushroom risotto was a generous portion and good but didn't stand out as much as the others. Kids cheese pizza and caesar salad were good/standard. We sat outside and they had all the heaters on so it was actually quite toasty, had to take off my jacket and my face felt flush. I ordered the Di Mare Pomodoro - It was $22 menu price but after my + Shrimp + Extra Seafood + Mushrooms it was $44. While that was pretty pricey, my dish was HUGE when it came out. It dwarfed many of the other plates others ordered. It was very tasty too, I was initially concerned with the tomato sauce base to be plain but I guess with all my extra umami it was superb! There were tons of seemingly specialty mushrooms, I am not familiar with that had great bite to them. Though the menu said there was scallop in this dish and I did not find any at all. That was disappointing. Seeing other people's dishes though, it seems like many others were misses but I was definitely happy with my dish. I tasted their meatball and it was BAD. The free bread is the same dough as the pizzas and they must have a solid oven as they looked wonderful. Dough could have proofed longer for more flavor and texture development but it was cooked well. The calamari dish was pure blasphemy for an Italian place...
