Very clean theater, young but helpful staff, comfortable seats in the IMAX theater, very clean and properly placed restrooms, and a good program for soft drinks (free refills). We are 'premier' AMC members, which is worthwhile. You get a 'special' line which bypass the non-premier members, although you have to more/less self-administrate being noticed at the head of the premier line. Discounts are generous, and the perks are worth the small fee to join. We purchase tickets in advance online, which allows a nice seat selection. I don't know how well the combined concession / ticket line works for those who do not do so. I suspect for those who do not purchase concessions, the resultant wait time might be longer....but it beats standing in two different lines. All told, Traverse is lucky to have a theater like this....it has 'big city' amenities in what really is just a small town. read more

Way way too loud for Oddysey. Tried to tell me it was calibrated correctly. It is dangerous how loud it is. Be warned!

Went here for the imax version of the odyssey. A $60 experience for two (tickets/popcorn/soda). What a waste. Not only was the movie so loud my ears were ringing when we left, the dialog was drowned out by the volume. The supposed imax experience was terrible video quality with the dark colors fuzzed out through the entire movie. If you like flying coach for 3 hrs on a plane you'll love the cramped seats and crappy food here too. One and done for me. read more

The assignment of seats is ridiculous, and we used to buy the bucket every year, but the last 3 times we were there, the popcorn was stale. Not even popped on the same day. The screens and seats are great here. I care most about the movie screening and less about the lobby. They also serve beer, which is a nice plus. However, the line management is terrible. To get tickets, you have to stand in the same line as the food service. This really slows things down. Get there early. To make matters worse, only one station will pour the beer, so you have to hope that station happens to be the one that is open when you hit the front of the line, or after you get your tickets, you have to get in another line for beer. Worst theater I've ever had the displeasure to visit. First, the tickets and concessions are very pricy compared to other chain theaters in the midwest, but that is pretty typical for AMC. What was so offensive about paying more was getting an noticeably worse experience for more money. Secondly, this theater was absolutely *filthy*. The carpet was disgusting. The counters, floor, seats and bathrooms were all sticky, dirty and had visible detritus and trash all around. The whole place just looked run down and dirty. Posters and promo stands were falling apart and half knocked over. You could film a dystopian YA movie in this place. Hey, AMC, maybe you should cash in on that instead of charging people exorbitant fees to sit in a dirty seat in a dirty theater. They ran more than 30 minutes of previews before the movie began. What a waste of my time in a theater I was actually uncomfortable in. The seats were not nice, the theater itself was not clean. I didn't want to touch anything. The staff was surly, but who can really blame them? We tried to purchase bottled water at the concession, was told they were out and would only give us a tiny dixie cup for water. The popcorn was stale, to no one's surprise. Will never be back. There are wonderful theater chains that charge almost half what this mess of a theater does and gives you a great experience too. read more

I brought my son to see Sonic 3. We arrived just prior to the start of the previews which is usually my goal because my son is 5 and I can't usually judge his patience. I didn't anticipate being in line for 25 minutes. Because of that, we would have missed 5-10 minutes of the beginning of the actual movie so we opted to go to the next showing which was a 45 minute wait. I wanted to purchase one of those buckets of popcorn so we could bring it back with us when we come back for another movie, but was told they were all out. The cashier seemed rude, quick and short about it but I was being as nice as possible. We sat outside the theater room waiting for the people to walk out of their movie and the employee to clean. That employee was very friendly and let us know when he was finished. The only bonus was that we got first pick on seats. Overall, disappointed. Mainly with the wait time to purchase tickets. This needs to be remedied because this is what keeps us from going to the theater. read more

For a newer movie theater this place feels very dated. Mainly, the seats feel the same as seats that you'd see in a theater from the 1990's. For the prices I'd expect reclining seats and more leg room at the least. Also, the pretzels are over $15! The restrooms were dirty. Etc.... The only reason I didn't give 1star is the service was great. The staff working behind the counter were working their tails off to keep up with the lines. read more

Could be such a great theatre but I question the way it is run. We purchased our tickets online ahead of time but still had to wait in the same line as everyone else as the ticket line and concession line is lumped together. As another note, I've never seen a movie theatre that was so GROSS and dirty. Do they not have a housekeeping crew? Management also needs to put some focus on customer service training. I understand this is mostly high school kids, but the level of rudeness is something I have never seen at a movie theatre. read more

Pretty much sums up what everyone says. Ridiculous line to wait in even when you prepay for tickets. That's the point of pre paying so you don't wait in line. Then the concession drink area is totally trashed. So disgusting to see it so messy. Have a couple people cleaning it all day. Very disappointed by this movie theatre. I have been waiting to see Pitch Perfect 3 in an enjoyable, brand new movie theatre for months. Walked in today and this was the scene we were met with. It is absolutely absurd that you have to stand in the same line as the one you order concessions from. This is THE most poorly planned movie theatre I have every attended. I understand it's a busy time of year, but in what universe do you have to go to the movie theatre 45 minutes in advance unless it's a premiere?? We even went to the kiosk where we can pay with a credit card, but when I asked the guy at the popcorn station where I could find the concession line for people who bought tickets at the kiosk he just pointed to the line without saying a word (very rude. This male employee was thin with long, brown hair pulled up into a man bun/pony.). I turned to him and said "I have to wait 30 minutes in that line just to buy food? Really??" And he just shrugged. Absolutely rude. My other question is... does this violate some kind of fire code? Hmmmm. When I spoke to the ticket person named Brian I told him this is a horrible way to do business and he told me he agrees. Seems like even the employees see how poorly planned this movie theatre. Went to see Tenet for my first social gathering since Covid started. Took 3 friends to the IMAX. Sound volume was so loud the speakers modulated or distorted so much you couldn't understand words in the characters conversations. Screen went black 3 separate times for about 2-3 seconds. Image was blurry for another 2 seconds. Worst movie experience I can remember. Waste of money seeing a movie here. Go somewhere else! read more

The prices are OUTRAGEOUS for non-stadium seating and service. Long lines at every turn and $10.00 for a hotdog. Over the summer, my girlfriend and I took our five kids (all under 9) and with tickets and light food we spend $178.00. Last weekend, my husband and I took our three children (all under 11) and with food we spent just over $100.00. For those prices, you can be waited on in Austin, have stadium seating and reclining seats. The food will be prepared in a kitchen instead of a microwave and you will leave feeling like it was worth the cost of admission. Theaters clinging to this old model of movie-going might either step up or step aside to a "dollar theater" concept. read more

The biggest cluster f%#! of a lobby I've ever seen! Utter confusion and stress the entire time, everything is jammed in the same corner of the lobby! From the minute you walk in you're pushed into a giant maze of red ropes for line control then you have to get your ticket with concessions, not only are the employees unfriendly it's very confusing. Then you get in line AGAIN for popcorn which is directly to the right of tickets in the middle of the lobby, the obvious flow would be pop on both sides but no you have to double back and push through the line again to get pop or simply to get to the ticket taker. Noting is on the far right, just dead space. I HATE poor planning, there's no need to stress out when getting POPCORN. FIX IT. read more

The movie theateres are pretty nice the imax is actually amazing the prices are a little overpriced. Depending on when you go the line can either be dead or backed all the way to where it starts but it's great for a rainy day. There was toilet paper all over the *tiny* bathroom floor and there were no paper towels. My family and I were at this theater on 5/13/18 and the drink machines were so dirty and sticky, they were gross. All the machines had a layer of dust on all sides. For the price you pay for everything, cleanliness should be a priority for your customers. read more

AMC needs to change their format. Crazy that u need to wait in line for tickets and in the same line concessions. All about the dollar. How about a separate line for folks not buying concessions?? This is by far the largest and best theater Traverse City has ever had. Stadium seating means no heads in the way of your movie. Chair arms fold up for more room. YOU GET TO PUT YOUR OWN BUTTER ON YOUR POPCORN! AS MUCH AS YOU WANT!!! The pop selection is awsome! Dont care about beer or wine. Yes paying cash for tickets means standing in the same line as concessions(they should fix that) but if you buy online or pay with plastic the kiosks work great. They were overwhelmed with Star wars crowds but most large theaters were. I would not hold their first few weeks open against them as harshly as previous posters have. I will say that when no one is there it looks like like a huge parking area but it is not. We had to park halfway to the old theater and walk. Didnt like that. Also the staff needs to get better trained and move people through concessions faster. We waited for 10min with only 3 people ahead of us because of an issue on one of 8 POS available. They finally waived us down to the beer POS and we got our popcorn bucket. Of course, then you have to wait in line to get your popcorn but that was fast. OVERALL, I HAVE BEEN IMPRESSED BOTH TIMES I WENT TO A SHOW SINCE THEY OPENED. I HAD VERY LITTLE PROBLEMS FINDING MY WAY AROUND. It was Valentine's Day and my boyfriend and I went to the to see bad boys for life. When we got to the counter the woman assisting us asked my boyfriend for his ID. It was a rated R movie so you need to be 18 to purchase a ticket. Which we both where. I was unaware that the movie was rated R and did not bring my ID. She refused to sell me a ticket. I have been going to this theater since I was 15 and I have never been denied a ticket as long as I was with someone over the age of 18 and they purchased the ticket. We ended up buying tickets for a different movie but still attended the one we originally planned too. The woman that had assisted us at the counter ended up coming into theater and forcing us to leave the theater. My boyfriend and I were very unhappy with this situation but we politely left. read more

The theatre is decently nice for the imax. We bought our tickets at the kiosk and walked in to save our seats. We were an hour early and thought we'd go back 20 minutes before the movie to get popcorn. Apparently the ticket line is the same as the popcorn line. So in order to get popcorn we'd have to wait in the line wrapped around the theatre for Star Wars tickets. This is a horrible set up and in fact the reason why I'm giving it one star. Who wants to go to the movies without popcorn. We were going to get lunch here too. They lost about 50 bucks between couples from us because of poor set up alone. read more
