I can't give them credit for the movie, they didn't produce it so this review is for the theater, food and staff. It was a slow night, not many people there, we were there for a family celebration. The bathroom was horrendous, I've seen cleaner portable bathrooms. The food was really overpriced and NOT worth it. Nothing fresh as advertised, everything was lukewarm when we got it. The French fries were a mess, inedible, over saturated in processed cheese and soggy, chicken was cold in the middle like it was still frozen, mozzarella sticks were just one giant blob of stuck together cheese.. We spent over $55 dollars on food and it went in the garbage, huge let down. The staff was disengaged, unhelpful and scarce. I do not think customer service is or was priority. So also for a tiny bag of popcorn it was 9 bucks like wtf , and while I was in the seats when I tried to put my seat back I can't see the movie screen while the seats where back had to sit straight , now my freaking back hurts . I recently went to a movie at the renovated Loews in Methuen and I will not be back. Not only is the assigned seating a fiasco, but the new concession set up is a joke. Here is why. First, my friend and I are here on a slow day seeing a movie that has been out for weeks. We buy our tickets separately and are amused to watch the cashier's check and double check to make sure our seats our right next to each other. By the way, we like many people like to have a seat empty between us for our coats, hats, etc. Soon after getting to our seats we decide to leave the seat between us empty, since the attendance is low. Our plan is quickly thwarted when we are joined by a young romantic couple, who is seated directly next to us, and who proceed to make out. Now it's very obvious they do not want to make out, sitting inches from us, but are afraid to move, when moments later, other people arrive and have taken the seat that my friend has moved too. At this point we would love to move to another seat, but can't. Now, we could take our changes, and move to new seats, or go back to the cashiers, missing ten minutes of the movie and hope we can get new tickets. Ok, now on to the concessions. When I arrive at the empty concession, I walk up the folks manning the soda/cup station and I'm told, that I have to go all the way around the station from left to right, even though there is no one else in line, I have to circumnavigate 200ft of stand, even though no one is there! Now the second incident really upset me, when I watch a young mother with her young daughter, dare to walk directly to the popcorn station only to be told, that her and her maybe four year daughter have to walk all the way around as well. Are you kidding me? When my friend took his time to complain, he received little more than a shoulder shrug from the management. Neither of us will be back, until this changes. read more

The only cool thing about this theatre is the fact that it LOOKS cool with wicked high ceilings, interesting lighting, and a disney-esque decor. Other than that - it's too expensive with tickets matching those of Boston prices...did anyone tell the managers they're in Methuen? And worst of all, the place is crawling with disrespectful north shore teenagers - it's like all the parents in the Merrimack Valley decided to drop their snot faced, metal-mouth jerk children here just so that they can get rid of them for three hours. The power chairs were cool the first time I went but the second time they are already starting to get very run down. I am not sure if it is abuse by the customers or neglect by the staff to keep them in good working order. The bar inside the movies is as absolute ripoff. Literally the worst value drink I think I have even experienced! $12.xx for a drink that had two splashes of booze. Machines were shut down before the movies were over so my "free" refills could not be honored. I don't understand this rush on their part. At least keep one of the machines open until the building is empty. The bathrooms are a nightmare as depicted in the pictures on the Yelp page. The staff is not in them cleaning on a regular enough cycle. This is a huge turnoff, especially when I am sending my daughter into the ladies room having no clue what is is going to encounter. Yuck! I always buy tickets online, and was initially pleasantly surprised to notice that they swapped to reserved seating. Now, the ONLY reason I was excited? Burlington AMC has become my new go-to place (now my closest theatre). And they have reserved seating, because they have the new reclining seats. This AMC has HORRIBLE seats. The "new" reclining seats don't actually recline. They're insanely hard, uncomfortable, and more shallow. I would absolutely prefer the old seats. The new concessions seem disorganized and just plain bad. And, I'm very sad that the curly fries are gone. WHY?! WHY would you take away my curly fries?!? Now -- the 1 star is not *just* because of curly fries. I'm paying $16 for a movie, and this was just a plain ripoff. The floor may have been more comfortable. I'll stay away from here; which is a shame. We came for the IMAX screen (Burlington AMC only has the smaller screens), but it just wasn't worth it. More expensive than Jordans, and significantly worse quality experience. For shame, AMC. read more

Ok so $5 for a bottle of chocolate milk to start is outrageous. With that being said, if AMC is charging those kind of prices for a 14 oz bottle of chocolate milk, they should be able to afford some pest control. While in the theater waiting for the movie to start I saw a mouse run from under my chair, to the stairs. This is the theater I've been going to since I was a teenager. The renovations are great but it's not perfect. The best change for AMC are the assigned seats. It sucks when you arrive late and can't find a good seat but then again, you can always book the next viewing. I also like how you can quickly buy your own tickets. I concur with everyone about the concession stand though - it's awful. I guess management wanted to cut down on customer service and just have people serve themselves. The seats are roomier but a bit uncomfortable. It reclines in such an awkward position. Something that really bothered me one day was the projection - the film wasn't large enough that there was a large black border on the screen! I regret not complaining that day. Let's not forget about how filthy the place is. From the bathroom to theaters, there's debris everywhere. Sadly, I see people cleaning but they are not thorough. Oh and it smells like SHIT in certain areas of the theater, it's like STUCK on the carpet. IDK they need to fix this! Damn, my entire review has mostly been negative. I'm sticking to two stars though because it's bearable to come here unlike the past where it was dreadful. I hope they work on improving their flaws. read more

Went there to see the Hobbit - The desolation of Smaug... The Theater itself is nice and big and is always clean but they do rip you apart for the IMAX 3d prices. IMAX 3D (not a real IMAX theater style seating or seats) is $17.50 for the movie while if you go to real IMAX cinema at Jordans furniture it is $11.50. So they do charge you for looking at it nothing more than calling it IMAX. stubs member get auto matic free upgrade on drinks and popcorn according to the literature but only if you ask for it so dont expect them to give you medium popcorn or drink if you ordered small and showed them you stubs card. overall no movie really in my mind is worth $17.50 but i love the lord of rings and hobbit and hence went there and paid for it but for real imax experience stick to imax at jordans. read more

Review for the newly renovated AMC Methuen 20 @ the Loop & a tip: Additions - Reclining leather seats and a bar The reclining leather seats are not available in every auditorium/theater at this location. They are great yet only the smaller auditoriums have the ones that recline specifically. The bigger auditoriums in this location have leather seats but they do NOT recline. The bigger auditoriums should be the ones with reclining seats because the headrest is so darned plushy now that not being able to recline leads to neck strain (I watch to many movies). When you go to reserve your seat online (I both love and hate this new practice) if there are more than 8 rows choose another time if you are keen to recline (it really does make the world of a difference so just DO IT.) In the back of the facility, where the arcade games were (Terminator and Time Crisis gone, so sad!) a bar was put in as well as high-top seating/tables and a big a** TV for movie trailers. The Patron Margarita is especially good (though nearly $12 dollars! and small compared to other marg's I've had) and literally the same price as any of their draft beers. The food and soda are insanely expensive. The loaded nachos are soggy and gross. Same goes for the loaded chili dog. Stick to the basics if you insist on spending 5 bucks on a hot dog or nachos. Special deal - If you go to the Not Your Average Joe's restaurant next door to this theater they offer $8 movie tickets (this is a huge steal considering they are $11.25 for STANDARD show times anytime after 2 nowadays). I was told you do not have to get food here to take advantage of this offer. I reserve all my tickets online, usually the day before as I like specific seats so I have yet to do this but others I know have. Just make sure it's not a new release or high-traffic times as you don't reserve your seat at the restaurant like you do online and might have to seat separately if you wait to just before the movie. Suffice to say I'd go to this theater every weekend but I'm killing the fun of movies at this point (or so I've been told) and it ain't exactly cheap! read more

I tried to see a movie with my boyfriend and the woman at guest services wouldn't let me in without an ID that said my birthday because the movie was rated R which is understandable. I don't carry my ID on me because I am in college and no purpose for it but I had my roommate send me a picture of it and she wouldn't let us in even with a clear picture of my ID that said my birthday because it was not the physical copy. My husband and I love this theatre. The remodel is great! We order our tickets online prior to the show and are able to reserve the seats we want. When we get in all I need to do is go to one of the kiosks and type my reservation code in, no waiting in line. The concession stand is easy, just walk around grab my popcorn and get soda cup at cash out. They have the coke machines so soda is exactly what you want. Then all you do is sit back in the reclining chair and enjoy your movie. The staff has always been nice and friendly. The bathrooms are nice clean. Only issue I ever had was a family sitting next to me with kids talking through the show and mom texting the whole time and of course they left their trash on the seats but that's them not the theatre. Pretty good theater choice to see a movie. AMC Methuen has 20 screens so you'll get a wider selection of movies to choose from, including mainstream features, documentaries, art house-types and the occasional Bollywood offerings. The place is sprawling, and there's plenty of free parking. As with my experiences at other AMC theaters I use, the staff here in Methuen is typically on the ball. My major complaint with this location is the popcorn is pre-bagged, so it sits outside the popper and grows stale waiting for a patron to come along and grab a bag. It looks like this location was recently worked on. I loved the seating, the seats make it seem you are watching from thee lazyboy in your living room. The concession set up was a little strange, but it might work better when the location is very busy. Given recent eventsI would have liked to see more of a security presence in the lobby. In the time I was in the whole plaza I saw one security truck just sitting in the parking area. it might be a good idea to contract with the city police to have a couple of officers working the plaza or just is location. read more

Came here first thing in the AM, and it looked like the bathrooms were ransacked. I guess we can blame Thanos for taking half the toilet paper. A review of the Loews Theater at the Loop by S.Osper I really do enjoy this theater and I think it improves a little every time we go (Usually once every month or so). This theater is nice and roomy and it is impossible to miss. I think the location is great also. Say you arrive a little early for the movie (intentional or not) you can always go shopping at the stores which are in the same plaza (Borders, Yankee Candle, Target (which is across the street) or any of the fine eating establishments like Bugaboo Creek). Like I said before, the theater is large. They have automated ticket machines which I always use, but if you prefer human tellers that is always an option. One thing I like is the snack bar, they have a wide selection (plus they serve Uno's pizza which I like). The seats in the theater are usually comfy with the exception of a few squeaky seats (You'll know if you get one.) My only recommendation is not coming here during movie launches because it is packed. I saw 2012 on the third day it was out and it was still packed. I wish they would have more seats also. The best movie theater around. Downloaded the app and buy tix online while choosing my assigned seat. Clean, comfortable reclining seats. Plenty of space around you. No one has to stand up for you to walk to your seat in the center. You cannot accidentally kick the seat in front of you. Stadium seating so no heads of tall people will be in your way. I have the low priced amc membership which saves me $10 for every $100 spent and with going to the movies often with kids or spouse, points add up fast to get the rewards. Sometimes the popped corn is hard from sitting at the concession stand too long maybe. It's not always great. Skip it. read more

My individual and I went to the movie theaters today and we where both escorted out of the movie theater due to the fact that she was screaming, because of her mental disability I was escorted out like trash. I've never been so discriminated in my life this is so wrong and the manager Megan was the cost of all of those all because she didn't want to sell me a ticket in the guess service. The condiment area, soda area of food area it's all disgusting their bathrooms some out and they don't clean them properly and the management team all hate their job. Loews at The Loop is my favorite regular theater to go to. This theater features twenty big screens and good sound. The stadium seats recline further than most and the arms between each seat can be put up, so it's great for dates! . I almost never use concessions but they feature a good variety of snacks (at theater prices of course) that include nachos, hot dogs, slushies, etc. Pretty standard fare beyond that. If you're on a date or just want to be comfortable theater experience, this is the place to go. read more

We love this theater experience. Lots of space, can pull up the armrest to hold hands, relax, and watch the movie. Great views from anywhere in theater. Even the seats up front look not-too-bad. One problem - the cupholders are kind of gnarly. Every time we pushed the recliner buttons, our children and we wanted to use hand sanitizer. Ewwww. And the cupholders? Obviously, there must be sugary drinks dripping down the sides of their cups into the cupholders, so that needs attention! How you do this I don't know but it's gross. Sticky and icky recliner buttons not good when you're paying over $70 to see Star Wars in IMAX. People expect more when you pay that much for a movie not in your home, so they had better step it up, because we want to go back and love it there. read more

With the closing of the Lawrence Showcase and Haverhill chunkys this is generally the only theater in the area I can easily get to The IMAX experience although generally a converted Multiplex is at times comparable to the IMAX laser a few towns over. I somehow don't understand the bad reviews this place is getting. This was the first time here for me and it was one awesome experience. This place is 40 miles from where I live but I'm definitely coming back again. Firstly, the touch screen was awesome to buy the tickets, it was so quick and you can also select your seats.. No waiting in the line. Secondly, I wasn't expecting reclining seats and this is the first time I was seeing a movie in reclining seats which were very comfortable so that was a big plus. I usually go a lot more often to AMC Lowes Boston Common and Regal Fenway but this was a way better experience in comparison. The screen is a lot bigger and the sound is much better compared to the previous two theatres I mentioned. $6.49 for reclining leather seats for the early morning show is a steal. I did not buy anything from the concession stand but I don't really care is the popcorn is crap because I'm paying to experience a movie and not the food. If I want to have a good meal I will go to a good restaurant and not expect a theater to serve awesome food. Two thumbs up for me! read more

I'm afraid the veneer of excellence at the Loews completely crumbled for me last night. Sure, it's nice to have a palatial atmosphere and nice decor, but the reason to go to the theater is to see the movie. This place charges a premium price ($10.50 compared to $7 or $8 elsewhere in the area), so I expected excellence. I didn't get it. To their credit, they cheerfully refunded my ticket price. The movie started 15 minutes late, then kicked off 5 minutes after it started, and the lights came up. During all this time, no employee of the theater had the courtesy to explain what was going on. Looking back, into the projection booth, no projectionist could be seen trying to sort out the problem. When I gave up and went out, the ticket-taker was unaware there was a problem. Movie theaters need to employ enough projectionists and equipment maintenance people to make sure they can show the movies. It's a basic cost of being in business. This one doesn't. read more

My first experience with this theater was attempting a night out. went to purchase tickets well in advance and finding out they catered to reserve seating which basically all that was left was necking craning seating in the front row.... and that was over an hour before showtime. Real theaters, plays, opera, musicals i could understand reserve seating but a movie theater...first come first serve... when the heck did that change?? Second attempt... i booked online, picked my seats and somewhere in the process it change my location from Methuen to Littleton MA...of course i didn't notice this until i attempted to get my tickets. To make matters worse Guest Services was unhelpful and utterly disrespectful to me. Accused me if swearing what all i said was " this us crap".... then accused me of throwing a tantrum when all i was trying to do was explain my dissatisfaction, in a normal tone, with the online mixup and their lack to attempting to remedy the situation. When i asked for the manager , he said he was the manager.... not likely. He seemed to enjoy putting on a performance for his 2 coworkers. I'll dispute the charge with my credit card company and will be successful. The likelihood of me ever going to this theater again, "absolutely zero". And yes, i will follow up with a complaint with the real manager at that theater and not with some twenty-something loser claiming to be the manager. Their remedy should of been a polite apology and passes to a future showing for the credit of purchase. Not some snarky attitude and a condescending smile. read more

So I recently had an issue at AMC in Methuen. If you know me then I wouldn't blast them on Facebook without good reason. After talking with several people about it, I have decided to share my experience with all of you. Please share.. Last Saturday we went to see the new Toy Story movie. We sat in theatre 11 all the way in the back row on the right. It was great, nice and private plenty of room for the kids to move around if needed. It was all going great until about five minutes before the ending. I put my seat down to adjust myself and that is when I felt a bite. Not like a bug but like a cat or animal bit me. I jumped and yelled and immediately used my phone flashlight to see what it was. Nothing was around but I did have a bite on my ankle. The top part of my foot near the ankle to be exact. It was clearly two teeth marks. Broken skin red marks. I didnt cause a scene and was very quiet about it. I went to the customer service desk and asked for the manager. He was there. I showed him. He didn't seem surprised or anything. He handed me free passes to come back. He told me they had pest control coming out already. I asked what for? He said just routine nothing specific. I wanted to know what type pests they had so I could have an idea what but me. Did I need to be concerned? I asked to fill out an incident report and left. The next day my foot was very red, burning and in pain. I did go see the doctor. It was clearly not a bed bug or spider etc... it was a rodent. Most likely a rat. They suggested I call corporate to get an idea what type pests they had at that theatre. They started me in antibiotics and told me to watch the area. If it got worse or new symptoms persisted to go to ER and start Rabies shots. She didn't want to start me on them just yet because they are VERY painful, time consuming and expensive. They also have a short window to be administered. Ugh! I called corporate. You can't speak to anyone there except a secretary. She takes a message and they call you back. I explained it all and explained how important that someone call me in a timely matter. Two days later I got an email NOT a phone call. It was pretty clear that there is no communication between anyone there. I never said any about bed bugs...yet they send me an email response basically saying sorry about your recent bed gig experience here are free passes to come back. I replied back and explained again that it was not a case of bed bugs and I needed to speak to someone. I never got a phone call. I guess they didn't want to hear about the possibility of a different type of pest. I tried calling AMC in Methuen back. The manager told me they checked the seating area where I sat and they found no signs of pests. (Do ya think the rat that bit me stayed in that one area?? hello?? If course not) I do t want some little kid to get bit and not know how to explain it. If I didnt feel it then I wouldn't believe it myself. I had another adult with me and three children all around age 12. I was clearly bitten and whatever it was... was big. I am so disgusted and disappointed. I dont want free passes. I just wanted answers to what may have but me. GROSS!!! Guess movie theaters do have bed bugs...but I can tell you this AMC in Methuen has more than that! read more

I came here this weekend to see Deadpool 2 and it was my first time at this theater. I love that from the outside it is very easy to find in the strip mall, and that there is a restaurant next door and a Starbucks (in case you want to go somewhere prior to seeing a movie). I ordered my tickets online ahead of time, and was very happy that I had the opportunity to pick my seats beforehand and collecting them upon entry was extremely quick and easy! The prices for concessions are high - it's a movie theater, and to be expected. I will say that my friend and I did want a snack, so we opted for the kid packs - a small popcorn, a small included candy, and a small drink for about $7. This really was a reasonable price and the perfect amount of snacks for a movie. I did like that there is also a bar, and an option to order hot food and snacks as well - just in case that is something that you might enjoy! The seats are extremely comfortable and rock/recline, though I do wish that there was a footrest. I also was pretty pleased with how clean the theater was as well.
