We just moved to the suburbs, which obviously means that date night on the weekend is dinner and a movie. Along with really cheap and good Chinese food, this is reason enough for me to be deliciously happy about this move, but I digress. Dinner options in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago are good across the board, but we needed to find a movie-watching option. This theater is just a few miles away from our house and has not disappointed us. Being brand new, it has easy ticket purchasing, clean seats and non-sticky floors. When you walk in, the first thing you see is a high-walled concession area. There is very cheap frozen yogurt ($5.50 for two cups) and regularly priced traditional snacks. There is a full bar, but the alcoholic drinks we had there were very small and tasted strange, possibly because of flat soda. Speaking of soda, they have soda machines with many, many individualized options (Diet Cherry Vanilla Coke, anyone?). One interesting thing is that last night when we arrived there were several cops in a foyer. When we asked what was happening, they said that the neighborhood behind the theater was "dangerous". Coming from the city, we laughed off the precaution and chalked it up to an interesting perspective on "dangerous", which seemed to be a group of innocent looking kids waiting for their parents to pick them up. I had another disappointing experience at this theater last night and felt the need to share. My husband, two friends, and I planned to see the new Batman film at AMC Woodfield because it's right near my apartment. However, we ended up here because I need to see captioned movies and this was the nearest AMC with Dark Knight Rises captioned. We planned to attend the 7pm showing. At 6:45pm, it was sold out so we had to pick a later time. We could pick 8:40p or a showing in the ETX auditorium at 7:40. We asked several employees behind the counter if the 7:40pm film in the ETX auditorium was captioned. They all said yes. We bought our tickets (and paid $4 extra each because it was the fancier auditorium), was handed a captioning machine, and went in after a quick wait in line. As the film started, I turned the machine on. There were no captions. Hmm. Maybe the batteries were low or something. Turned it off and back on. Still nothing after the initial welcome screen. OK, now I was getting annoyed. I told my husband who grabbed the machine and left the movie to get a replacement. He came back five minutes later empty-handed. "This movie isn't captioned." he signed to me. "WHAT. But they told us it was! And even gave us the machine!" "I know, but the guy behind the counter told me that he didn't remember me and that it's not captioned -- not in the ETX auditorium, " he explained. "So I'm supposed to sit here for three hours and not understand a thing that's going on and bug you every five minute to ask what they said?" I was incredibly frustrated. Yes. That's what I had to do. Fortunately, they refunded our tickets and give us two tickets for another movie in the future. Needless to say, I was livid about this miscommunication among the employees and the fact we all paid extra than we needed to see it. (They did not refund the tickets for our friends, so we stayed since they paid for it and we all couldn't bear to stay up any later on a Sunday night.) I spent the entire film half bored and half confused, asking my husband every ten minutes what people were saying and what was going on. The action sequences looked good but I couldn't really judge the movie. Bah. The only thing that was cool about my experience was the chance to sit in the ETX auditorium up in the back row. The subs were right behind us and every time there were loud noises in the film (plane flying, etc.) we could feel it rumbling. It was pretty neat. This is our go-to movie theater even though it's a little out of our way. Randhurst has some good restaurants to go to after seeing a movie. Plenty of parking and a nice place to walk around. Super clean theaters and bathrooms. Comfy chairs. Concessions are priced fairly for a theater with many choices. You can even get an adult beverage here. read more

Not a huge fan of this movie theater I think it could use a revamp. This place is located with in an outdoor shopping plaza there is ample parking out doors as well as a garage. There are lots of restaurants around so perfect for a dinner and movie date. I found this place to be under staffed but they do have the computers for a quick ticket purchase which I appreciate. I am accustom to going to the new movie theaters that have the huge comfy recliner seats with lots of room and that serve alcoholic beverages so upon entering the theater I was greatly disappointed by the old seating and no adult beverages. The theatre was not very clean and the bathrooms were extremely dirty. Overall I would only come back here if I had no other option. read more

This theater, is and has always been 5 minutes away. However it has always been my last choice. The theater feels so small and in my opinion has lost the charm it used to have in its old location. Maybe I am just being nostalgic. Also the times I have been there, the tables and seats have been sticky, and popcorn has littered the floor. It is a part of the AMC Chain, which I am beginning to really dislike. There is no standardization in the level of comfort from theater to theater. While this specific theater has decently comfortable and creative seating arrangements...There are no recliners, (except the front row) and there are other AMC's locations and other theaters in general that do have them. If I am paying around or slightly over $10, I'd rather have reclining seats. Another gripe I have about AMC and this theater in general is that they don't offer a significant discount day. There's theaters that offer $5 Tuesdays, and discounted concessions too, all day, which make it way more enticing to see a movie. We used to come here all the time before the pandemic. We went for the first time after the pandemic. Supposedly they are very clean but all the seats are horrible. I bet they don't clean them. Wow this is a true upgrade from the OLD AMC Randhurst 16 - who had the most uncomfortable chairs. I was fortunate to see a free viewing of Megamind 3d a week prior to the theatre's grand opening occuring 4/29. Movies before noon $5. The concession stand has gourmet popcorn, fresh popped carmel corn, kettle corn, cheddar. Also lots of pre packaged upscale snacks that you may find at Trader Joes or Whole Foods. Cafeteria style refreshment -see pic. Seasoned salt for your popcorn such as barbeque and garlic parmesan. Refill your soda right outside of your theatre instead of going to concessions. Dyson dryers in the bathroom make the entire experience of washing your hands touchless. A few of those specialized coke machines that can give you a plethora of combinations of coke products for you to mix and match. Since the place is brand new it was obviously clean. A lot of staff present ready to assist with guiding you to your theatre or the specialty concessions. AMC did away with the Moviewatcher rewards and is now a pay service STUBS -couldn't they come up w a better name! The seats are large and super comfortable. One of my favorite theaters. I like their set-up and what they have to offer in terms of bar and food/ concession stand. Their theater seating is comfortable and the screens med. to small size which is fine. I am not a fan of reserved seating so that's another reason why I like going here. The sound system is good and the comfy seats are appealing. The revamped Randhurst shopping center area is a nice backdrop for this theater's location. Plenty of restaurants nearby for food before or after the movie. read more

We usually go to the AMC Theater in South Barrington, IL, but we had dinner at Randhurst Mall and decided to see our movie there. This AMC looks much like any other, most of them seem the same, but there are some marked differences. 1. The seats seem to be much more comfortable. I find the AMC seats typically don't have a lot of back support. These did. They also rocked a little. 2. They have a much wider selection of food and drinks. In fact, they have a full bar and some fast foods. We chose the opening weekend for a movie so we expected the theater to be crowded. We also went to a 7:45 PM show on a Saturday night. Since this is the only time we've been there, I don't know what size their typical theater is. But, the one they had this showing in was pretty small and every seat was taken. In fact, we got there pretty early and ended up on the far left side, 2nd row. This was not optimal for viewing. After a little while, though, I think you get used to the perspective. I will say that, if most of their theaters are this small, they will have problems going forward. read more

My rating is based on some things that most people wouldn't find important. 1. Parking. There is no handicapped parking within a short walking distance of the entrance to the theater. And while I could have been dropped off at the entrance, uh, I was the one driving. It was very cold that day and the sidewalks were icy causing me to lose my balance and almost fall frequently. Luckily I was with others and they managed to keep me on my feet. 2. Once inside the theater, the sun shined through their massive glass entrance and into the concession area literally blinding you. I had to put sunglasses on just to see what I was getting! The theater itself was comfortable and handicapped accessible. Unfortunately for this location, I have found another theater which meets my specific needs better and I will not be coming back here. read more

Awesome, awesome theater! Granted, my hubs and I spent $50 on this particular Sunday afternoon date, but we don't do it often. Theater is nice and clean, friendly staff and great seating. The movie we saw on this day froze or had a glitch at three different points in the movie. I was kind of disappointed that no one offered us a free movie ticket on our next return, but it won't deter me from coming back. Crap happens. Concessions are insane here. When I say insane I'm referring to the variety of items. :) Prices on snacks are comparable to all theaters in the area. Again, it didn't stop us. I really thought that the self-serve soda counters were a great idea; helps to control flow of traffic, etc. The Stubs reward card is a good idea; upgrades/discounts on concessions and you accrue reward bucks each time you use your card for purchases at AMC theaters. read more

This is one of the AMC locations that was renovated to include bigger chairs but less seats. It's nice enough if you can score a seat but you really need to plan and buy in advance if you expect a nice one. The drinks here are OK but certainly overpriced. I don't come here as much because I've been disappointed with my seats lately. I head to Lincolnshire instead, since their theaters are much bigger and far less of a hassle. read more

The old Randhurst was falling apart. The food choices sucked, the service from the people who work there was bad, and it just looked plain bad. Then they opened this up and made it look a lot nicer! They have a lot more food and drinks choices now and many more attentive people. They have a small bar. For a deaf person, this place is a dream come true as it has all movies captioned with a better captioning device. They redid the theaters to make it look a lot more inviting with more room, booths, and awesome seats that can go backwards. I personally find the seating to be a big plus in my book. read more

It's a decent theater complete with seats unable to recline and overpriced snacks. I'm not from the area, but a friend wanted to see a movie here so I tagged along. Service is what you'd expect from an AMC: standard and not really personal. Snacks are really the only downside since they emptied my wallet and pocket change just for a soda and a bag of M&Ms. I mean, really guys? Man this place was terrible...I came in to watch the new movie bullet Train and paid for my tickets online. when I came in one women (older) told us we couldn't come in because we didn't have our ID'S. My buddies showed there ID. I was the only on without it but I had a picture of it and she still refused to let me watch the movie. I went Nile's location and rosemont location and never had an issue with this. Another younger lady came in the convo and said "they didn't do there job right" I came here a week before this to watch the movie " Nope " and didn't have a problem watching it. Good experience in watching a popular show - Rogue One - several weeks after the release. We got there about 10 before the listed show time, and there were only a few seats remaining - very few together. People sat in groups of 2, 3 or 4, and always left a seat between. MANY seats, and no ushers helping squeeze people together. People wouldn't do it on their own. :( My wife just said "Let's try to find something down in front." so we left the openings and ended up in the front row, nearly center. So in this new perspective on movie watching, we enjoyed the film from the front row, in nifty recliners. Not bad, considering, though watching from the center of the theater is much better. The concessions are pricey, but normal for theaters. They also offer drink refills with Coke Freestyle machines, and refills on the large popcorn. This is pretty good as we typically get to the theater early enough to sit for a few minutes before previews, and top off once again before showtime. The previews seem to be extra long. I forgot to check, but it felt longer than 10-15 minutes. Video and sound quality seem good, though I don't recommend the front row. ;-) Overall, a great place to watch the latest releases. read more

Over priced, broken seats, floors are sticky, stains every where. The ticket prices have gone up and up, but the repairs are hardly done. Seats look like someone jumped up and down on them with a pair of cleats. Theaters are rarely cleaned, popcorn every where, floors are sticky. Trash every where. You can buy alcohol at the bar and bring it into the theater and you don't have to pay a jabillion dollars to do so, as you do at Rosemont. At this theater, you pay for your movie ticket, you go to the bar, they give you a wrist band for free, and you can take your drink into the theater. 'Nuff said. Well I'll say more. Finally, a theater WORTH paying $10 to see a movie. I rarely went to the old AMC theater because it was overpriced for the quality of the theater, but when I found out they remodeled it, I just had to see for myself. And it's safe to say that the NEW Randhurst AMC is probably one of the best movie theater experiences I've had. When you walk in, the concession area is very impressive. From gourmet popcorn, to ice cream, to candy, to pizza. Typical movie theater food, but on a higher scale. The touchscreen Coke machines are amazing, with over 100 choices of Coke, Fanta, Sprite, Dasani...etc. Grape, Strawberry, Raspberry, Lime, Cherry, Vanilla. You name it. They probably have it. To your left, when you walk in. A BAR area. MacGuffins. Granted, the drinks are a bit overpriced, but very few theaters, if any, will let you order a beer or a cocktail and let you bring it into the theater with you to enjoy during a movie. LOVE IT. Bathrooms. Dyson Dryers. That is all. And the best part...the seats. LEATHER. Get there early because the theaters have booth-style seating on the sides. The booths seat about four people and include a table. It's nice if you are with a group of friends or on a date and you get your own space. AND If you don't get there early, your stuck in the front. But WHAT? They have recliners for the front row. So yes, you probably have the worse view in the house, but you have the most comfortable seating of all. Finally, all movies before noon are $5. I really enjoy movies, but I don't visit the theaters nearly as much as I would like to. I'm not quite made of money...yet. I remember the old theaters where Petsmart (Pet Smart/Pets Mart) and World Market are now, and it was certainly a time capsule for the 80's and 90's, but not in a nostalgic way. The parking situation was bad (which hasn't changed in that spot because of the random roundabout), the exterior was unsightly, and it was tired inside with a dated ticketing area. Clearly they felt the same way, as they changed everything for the better in the new location. They really did a nice job. I don't make it to this area all too often, but the renovations of Randhurst are pretty impressive. The theater ticketing system is really nice because of the prepay kiosks in the lobby and outside the doors, however I have yet to really get an understanding of the official process they have in place for taking the tickets; I always seem to go at off times so I wander around looking to give any employee my ticket [for example: at AMC Streets of Woodfield, you cannot enter the theater area unless the guy has let you in; such is not the case here]. The Randhurst location is clean and usually quiet, and it's fun to identify the movies from which the quotes on the wall are from. I also really enjoy their seating options: you can sit in a nice chair, a group table/lounge arrangement, or if you're stuck in the front row, they have full reclining leather chairs to make it somewhat of an enjoyable experience. Like I said, I go at off times so I usually have the pick of the litter. Now that I use Fandango more frequently (and have a job) I plan to visit the theater more often, and I will likely select AMC Randhurst. I typically bounce around to different theaters for different experiences, but while I have access to this AMC and the surrounding area, I'll be sure to catch a flick here. read more

PROS: This is a newer theater with nice screens and comfy seating. Really the best in the area in my opinon. Good selection of items in concessions. Free refills on ALL non-alcoholic drinks. CONS: Busy during weekends. Get there early. Parking lot on the west side always packed. Best to park in parking garage and walk over. Prices are outrageous for IMAX and 3D movies. Give me just the "standard" movie and I'm just fine. Even ticket for that is around $11-12. Reclining seats are nice until you get someone sitting in front of you leaning all the way back into your lap. Overall a decent theater. Prefer going during the week. 5 or 6 pm show. Plenty of places to sit and enjoy the movie without kids kicking your seat or someone in front of you leaning all the way back into you. read more

This theatre is such an upgrade compared to the old AMC Randhurst... I'm not scared to go to this one! It's much brighter and more open than the old Randhurst, and the floors aren't sticky! Their food selection and new fangled coke machines are fun, I never would've thought to order "food" at a movie theatre, but I was so hungry last night that I sprang for a hot dog. Not bad - 100% beef, which is my main requirement. We saw the TCM special screening of West Side Story, and my heart melted to see it on the big screen. My only complaint, we sat in the very back row, they have a section all the way up top that has wider seats that are more like couches - while those were really comfy, they didn't dim the lights back there. About a year ago, I was driving around the area with my boyfriend and I mentioned to him that either I am going crazy, or they completely took down the movie theater because it used to be right next to the Steak and Shake. Then I kept hearing from different people about this new theater in Randhurst, so we ended up checking it out... Hands down the best "reconstruction" I have ever seen. I guess you can't really call this reconstruction though, because they just moved the entire building to a new spot. Regardless, this is def my favorite movie theater around now! It's not just the movie theater that is completely redone, but the entire mall! I am not even sure what is left of the old Randhurst except for one department store. They opened up a bunch of dining choices (bars, burgers, pizza, wings), as well as smaller stores. It seems to me they were copying The Glen because it is avery similar in terms of the layout. The theater itself has a self serve concession stand and food choices like non I have seen at a regular movie theater. The best part is if you get to the movie early, you can snag the "love-seat" like chairs in the back of each room. SOOO comfortable and they have tables to make your eating experience more pleasant. Oh, I forgot the mention the bar when you walk in! It's a HUGE building, with lots of movie choices, food, drinks... what else do you need?!? read more

Same issues as I've had before. Reserved area with table was sticky. We were in the first show so not cleaned from the previous day. I see the staff coming in with a broom after the movie ends, how about adding a damp towel? One person at the concession stand. Huge line. Thanksgiving weekend is always busy so why not staff accordingly? Also did you change vendors for your hot dog buns? The ones we had today were dry yet gluey, which is odd. I only have one tiny complaint - they only have three manned ticket lines now (only one open on Friday evening). I know I can just go to fandango and pre-order my tickets to pick up at one of the kiosks, but people like my dad aren't 'hip' to the new technology... will he be forced to wait 20 minutes to buy his ticket?? I hope not. Once you get your tickets you'll be like "wowie zowie! Is that a bar?!" This place is so modern and nice - they have self serve concessions... and also a bar!! Been to this theatre twice now. Just saw Suicide Squad and was an hour and a half early for good seats. They already had the line and police on the side. The seats were comfy, the screen was big, and it was pretty clean. The room I was in had rounded chairs on the sides. If you are wit your significant other or a small group of friends, it's pretty neat to have your own little area to yourselves. The theatre room wasn't as dark as other ones so I was confused why the lights at the back just dimmed and not completely off. Maybe it was just me. But overall, good place to watch movies at. read more

Showtime was for 10:45pm. Me, my bf & another couple were going to see Keanu. We arrived at 10:40pm, to our surprise the staff was locking up the doors. We knocked on the door & they wouldn't even acknowledge us. There were two other couples standing outside with us in the rain, besides our group of four. My boyfriend called the theater & an employee who answered said they had moved the showtime back to 10:30pm. We all said we still wanted to purchase the tickets, only missing the first 10mins which would have been previews, She denied everyone outside entrance & told us they're no longer playing the movie & abruptly hung up the phone. The customer service was horrible regardless of the sudden change of the movie time that we had in fact checked an hour prior. This is very upsetting because between the four of us we paid over $80 for an Uber ride there & back! read more

So I like the theatre, it's definitely updated with a nice lobby and polite front desk staff. There is also a little bar so a date night here could be fun! What I didn't love is that any/all parking is far away from the main entrance so to come with my mom or aunt who have difficulty walking would not happen. Also they leave their lights half way on/dim during the movies and this is especially obvious when the screen is dark and the theatre should also be dark! This movie theater is beyond awesome! It tops Deer Park, South Barrington, and Woodfield-- and you pay the same price. Just entering the shopping center where this AMC is located, you can tell that everything is brand new. In a movie theater, that's an excellent thing. You can buy your tickets online, at the kiosks outside, or inside at the counter. The food options are plentiful, with everything from seasonings for your popcorn to gelato to gluten free brownies. Drinks are fill-it-yourself at the Coca-Cola Freestyle machines or ICEE machines -- which also means free refills! Inside the theaters, everything is a step above the rest as well. Seating is plush, red suede chairs that are seriously huge. On the side of the bigger theaters there are circles of seats around a table for larger groups. The front row of the theater reclines, and no reservation or up-charge is required for any of the seating. Coming here, I pay the same price as any other theater, get free refills, AND get nicer seating? Without a doubt, I'll continue to drive an extra five or ten minutes to come to the AMC in Randhurst for every movie I see in theaters. read more

I took my nieces and nephews here to see a Disney movie. I will not mention the name, but let's just say, I felt like the movie would never end : ( But I digress...the theater is nice and clean and has tables with booth seating in the front area...kids love this! I also liked the "kiddy snack packs" which include a reasonable amount of popcorn, a small drink and a candy-all in a handy, kid friendly carrier. I think it was about $6- not bad. I went to see a movie with my nine-year old son. None of the disability entrances were working. He had to push and pull everything for me since I am a disabled American. It's a shame that the theater doesn't care to be disability accessible. read more

I was pretty disappointed when the theater that I usually go to provided me with such an unpleasant experience this weekend. We went to see divergent with my boyfriend at the 8 PM showing in a pretty small but cozy theater. Not only did I experience An uncomfortable situation when a young usher gal was very rude in telling the lady sitting next to me so to turn off her phone (the lights were not even down). Lights, are my main issue here... The lights remained on and very annoying the entire 2 1/2 hours that the movie was on. Since when do you go to a movie to have the lights remain on? read more
