Don't you think all that hair should be upon a hair net.?

So I know it's a holiday weekend you would think they would be prepared. They're out of cheese. You can have nachos or pretzel bites. They're also out of bottle water when we came in at 10:30 to watch 1130 the guy behind the counter is running between the cashier and the back counter doing food . We get our food and come and sit down in the theater and Discover The hotdog buns are hard as rocks. As I go back to get a fresh bun. The guy behind me is back because his sliders are ice cold

Opening day for Mario Bros movie! We had fun! Good theatre, just wished they did a bit more and had a better cut out to take pictures with for the movie! In all pretty good. Got this souvenir popcorn tin for $15 and includes popcorn!

AMC Dine-In Studio 28 is one of the best movie theaters in the country. It has every type of theater under one roof. They have a fork and screen section which is a restaurant that will deliver food and drinks to your seat, a self-serve serve refreshment section and IMAX theater. Everything you want and any type of movie is under one roof. I highly recommend this theater to see a movie.

The only great theater left in the area. I wish they would bring the cinema suites to Iowa.

There was no question that I'd even need to shop around for a better deal or experience. Mike was top notch professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating. On the big day, he quickly set up the equipment, played an additional memory slideshow and music, and made a bunch of our neighborhood kiddos weeks with his popcorn machine. The sound quality and screen quality was perfect, even as a Christopher Nolan film usually demands an IMAX. We connected with Michael about hosting a movie night for our volunteers and staff at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, and he immediately responded to our request and scheduled a time for a site visit. From our first interaction, he was friendly, genuine, on time, and communicative without fail. He has immense knowledge about his industry & equipment and has an impressive arsenal of processes in place so that his team is ready for anything. We had to postpone our first date due to weather, and Michael was in communication with us the whole time we were working to reschedule. We even had a hiccup with our planned site the night of our rescheduled event, and he and his team pivoted their entire set-up process like it was nothing. As a person in the events industry, I cannot say enough about their unwaveringly calm demeanor and creative problem solving. The night of the event, they arrived with plenty of time to set up the screen, sound system, lights, and popcorn machine. Everything was set up on time and looked organized. The screen was bright and displayed the picture beautifully, and the sound system was top notch. Michael and his team worked tirelessly to make our event seamless so that our staff could enjoy the event as well, and they thought of every little thing. They were prepared for anything & the pinnacle of professionalism, and I cannot wait to work with them again!

Just off of Metcalf, nestled in Downtown Overland Park, you'll find the theater's electric blue and pink bright lights of this one-screen theater, and truly one of the most enjoyable movie theaters in Kansas City. The Rio was built in 1947 and has been updated somewhat recently to blend the old feel of the theater with the new. You buy your ticket from the street and then enter into the tiny lobby to pick up extremely low priced candy and popcorn out of the big, vintage popcorn maker. There are so many movie theaters trying to create a special experience to get people away from their Netflix and into the movies. The Rio already has a special energy about it that is nearly impossible to replicate. In the movie we saw this past weekend, there was a 3 minute video right before to movie started. It featured a guy across the street from The Rio, artfully shot and talking to his buddy about how his girlfriend was definitely the one. The audience started murmuring as people wondered what this was about, and then they quickly picked up the fact that this guy was about to come into the theater and propose to his girlfriend. Pretty cool way to kick off the movie, and a pretty cool way to show off the little gem tucked away off of Metcalf.

The lobby has a small concession stand with some snacks - again, less expensive than bigger theaters! The inside of the theater is like a blast from the past. The employees are super nice. No stadium seating, neon palm trees on the walls. The chairs are squeaky but comfortable, and the average age of patrons is at least middle age. Somehow, that combination is charming and endearing and I love coming here on a Friday night. Just a warning: the movies aren't the top box earners. They're artsy and unique most of the time, but lots are worth seeing. Also noteworthy: they frequently have a groupon! $15 for two tickets and two popcorns. Pretty good if you ask me!

An older couple that just ooze that small town/country hospitality that makes you want to come out every weekend for the featured movies. They always have current movies and the biggest summer hits. One of the most notable things about this drive in is how clean and well kept it is. It would be a real shame to see this one go the way that so many others across the country have. The speakers are loud and clear. The restrooms are exceptionally clean and well maintained with what appears to be newer fixtures. The lot is pothole free. You can just tell the owners take pride in the business. The concession area has a small, but typical movie theater menu and the prices are right in line with other theaters if not actually less expensive. (A large bucket of popcorn and large drink will cost you less than $10.) The cost of the movie is the best in the area at only $7 for adults, $1 for children 3-11, and children under 3 are free. You really can't beat the cost for a family night of entertainment. This drive in is at risk of closing due to the requirement and cost to upgrade equipment to digital and this may be their last season open. Make sure you visit and support what is a dying business across the nation. Stop by their FB group to see the various fundraising events that the fans of the theater have started in an effort to help save the drive in. https://www.facebook.com/groups/123342647687916/members/

In the women's restroom there were 4 stalls closed and one sink out of pry. It's just sad to see it getting run down and not too busy. You'd think with the price we paid for 3 adults ($122) it would have been better. Im sure some of it is due to lack of employees. The prices haven't changed but the overall entertainment did . If you can't offer what you're "selling " do something different so the customer gets a better deal. We won't be back for awh.
