My daughter just did Surf Camp and had a blast! The counselors were so good, kind people. The store is very nice too.

I was surprised that there was a whole store for surfer girls but let's see how they do. I have seen their local adds for a surf camp and lessons and I can really see where a girls only classes would be popular. After all who want to take surfing lessons from their boyfriend or a goofy guy from in town. All they want to do is look at you not teach you. The store is nice with a fair amount of stuff. Suits, rash guards, and some other girlie girl stuff. The boards they offer were also on the girlie side. I did see one or two I would paddle out on. It is a cool shop and I'll stop in again cause after all I am teaching my wife the art of surfing.

I went into the store yesterday to look for a used foam board. The owner of the store sold me a…read moreboard that had some dings. As someone who is new to the sport I questioned whether the board was still rideable. The owner explained that it definitely was still rideable and just a little heavier than the other boards because it was an older board. She never mentioned anything about it being water logged. When I showed my boyfriend the board he could tell it was water logged right away. Figured we would try it anyways. Took it out to the ocean this morning and it sunk right away. When I took it out of the ocean it was so much heavier. Tried to bring it back to the store today and the owner was not having it. Extremely poor customer service. She lied about telling me it was water logged. I tried to support a local business but it ended up biting me in the butt.

Surf into Summer Camp is a great program which is why it is North Florida's elite and longest running camp. The 3 to 1 student to instructor ratio provides students with important individual attention. The program is very effective IMO and emphasizes ocean awareness, surfing techniques, surf etiquette, and proper equipment and wave selection. The camp instructors are truly top notch and it's very cool to see kids catching their first wave and taking their surfing to the next level!

As of today, I have given them a MONTH to reply. I even followed up with two additional emails, a voicemail message and a Facebook message and nothing except a Facebook response saying the best form of communication is email. I am ok with no refund, but at the least there should have been a response with an offer of resolution (surf camp the following summer, money towards private lessons, etc.). Any reputable business has a Covid policy at this point. Very disappointing. Too many surf camps to choose from in this area to accept this sort of poor customer service. I'll wrap this up as my donation to their local business and give my repeat business and recommendation elsewhere.

Moving to the sunny state of Florida, we wanted to introduce our kids to the joy of outdoors and…read moreeverything the beach can offer. So, when my friend came to visit us we figured what better than surfing lessons? My husband met Ryan Ragan of Vast Oceans when Ryan was teaching another class. Ryan was patient, thorough and prepared. Our experience was that Ryan was not only prepared for our children with right size boards, but had a tent up for the parents to relax in the shade on a very hot day. (Chair not included. So bring one!). Ryan went over board safety, how to fall properly so as to not get hurt, when to exit the board so as to not get hurt, proper board care, style and grace, how to get out into the surf, the steps of getting up on the board. He helps the kids get confidence and comfort. He does not push them to go beyond comfort zone but continuously reminds them what steps they will be doing. He is patient and kind. Definitely wants kids to have the joy of surfing and solid instruction. What to bring: long sleeved sun shirt (aka rash guard) sunscreen for legs and all other exposed areas, towel, chair (if you want to sit) your cell phone or camera for some great photo opportunity's if you are watching. Bring a snack and drink. You will have a break and it's a great time to get hydrated and apply sunscreen on legs again. Don't forget to tip!
