Have bought many plants over the years here but brought a newly bought sick plant back today . I have 3 others of the same species all doing great in the same spot. The new one showed sickly after a week so took it back. They do not stand by their sales and blamed it on my care which is the same for all the others owned for months. They are not a friendly staff. I recently needed a gift, plus I wanted to support a local businesses. Luckily, Amelia's Smarty Plants helped make it happen. They graciously allowed me to purchase a gift card over the phone. They even hand wrote out a note for me and mailed the note and gift card to my friend. I know this isn't the normal way of doing things, but I really appreciate them accommodating me during this strange time. Amelia's is open, and I can't wait to return to peruse this peaceful spot. I bought 5 Peace Lilys in Sept. or Oct. They never bloomed with white flowers once the originals died. They were green and the seed pod was green and brown.When I bought them they strongly suggested I give them my email and phone # telling me that is how they keep track of purchases. I brought them back and they would not return as they said they were fine. They said they never return plants. I suggest using home depot. They warrant plants for 3 months. I left them there. The male staff is much nicer than the women working there. read more

They have a really incredible collection of plants here. Unfortunately, my wife could not find what she needed (a large office plant for her lobby), but we did buy a beautiful fox-tail fern. They also have a really beautiful cactus collection with variegated prickly pears and some other really cool ones! The care advice we got for the fox-tail was not great. For some reason it was recommended to water it every other day and keep in the shade. Those instructions resulted in it slowly dying until we did some research, moved it to the sun, and stopped watering so much. read more

I'm new to South Florida and love to garden and did a lot of plantscaping up North in the Boston area. Here in SoFlo, the climate and cycles of the year for gardening could not be more different. I've been to dozens of well managed nurseries and I have to say that Amelia's Smarty Plants is just unbelievable and amazing. Their plants are beautiful, well taken care of, and pruned to look fantastic. I've never seen so many different fiddle leaf figs in so many shapes and sizes, some huge! The plants are arranged from sunny to less sunny areas across the property, based on the shading of overhead sun/shade canopies. There's an indoor area with many great items, and an outdoor plant yard once you pass thru the building. Not to mention, they have an incredible selection of pots and they also have trays to match for them. I can't say enough good things about this nursery, and it is my goto place to buy plants. The only concern is that they don't take plant returns. I can see not taking plants back after a month or so and they've not been cared for well, but they may consider a 1 or 2 week window for plant returns. I mean sometimes a plant just doesn't look right when you get it home. read more

Excellent range of plants, from magnificent exotics through good native plants. This is not a cheap place; but it is certainly a place of excellent quality. The rudest people at any shop! We were there Sunday and no help. We called Monday morning to place and order and no call back. Called on Tuesday and finally got someone who did not want to help. Provided plant name and she said she didn't know what it was. We read the name off the description of the plant (we took a picture) and told her where it is in the store. She refused to go and look. Also when we were there on Sunday multiple staff were not wearing masks. The worst service of any store...I would definitely go somewhere else for plants, pots etc. read more

Beautiful nursery, some great prices, original plants and garden decor. The garden decor is incredibly expensive but that's because they are original and quality pieces. However, it's nothing I can afford. Plants are hit or miss with prices. Some stuff is priced very competitively while other things are a little overpriced. However they have exotic plants and things you might not find at your local Home Depot. I've bought some plants for myself here, such as a beautiful Devil's Trumpet and also bought some gifts here. What troubled me was the amount of pesticides on fruit trees for growth, in other words why would you want chemicals on the fruit you're about to eat? When I asked the staff member about it, she really couldn't answer, I also look at the pesticide used, let me tell you you don't want to eat that so if you want a nice fruit tree eco-friendly is the way to go, Think before you shop. read more

I have lived in the WPB /Lake Worth area for decades, and driven past Smarty Plants on Dixie for years without knowing it was there. It wasn't until our landscaper recommended it that I finally found it and dropped in. IT IS AMAZING! The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable and they have a huge selection of plants and garden stuff (pots, soil, decorations, planters...). The place is remarkably (and surprisingly) large fot its location. They seem to specialize in plants that may not be found routinely elsewhere, and are great at providing recommendations and advice. They do not sell citrus trees, but otherwise they have a great variety of plants. Family owned, I like supporting them. I've brought numerous friends and family members to check them out. read more
