My wife and I eat at Amelio's every time we're in Logansport. Which is probably once a month since my Mom lives in Delphi. I love their meatball sandwiches with hot banana peppers. And ALL their Italian dinners. Steaks are fabulous always done to my taste. Their drinks are strong and flavorful the beer selection is large. We absolutely love this place. I took my employees out for lunch and it is as subpar as it had been. Dense and overcooked meatballs. We were told bluegill is only available the same day as delivery, never heard that before. I think I'm done giving them the opportunity to redeem themselves. I'm sure the bar is fine and get drunk enough and eat garbage food, you'll be happy! read more

Went here while in town on business. First off i enjoyed going to a restaurant that was not a national chain which is every other restaurant in town (or so it seemed). Overall, the food was good - not stellar but good. It was solid American Italian food - the meat ball was very good, the lasagna was solid. Basic bar with ok wines available. The feel of the place was typical small town bar, not pretentious, but a good solid bar and restaurant. The best part was the server ( i am sorry i forgot her name) she was the highlight of the evening, she talked like she had been there forever and loved every minute of it. We had the grilled shrimp for an appetizer which was ok nothing special about the taste then entrees included spaghetti with one of the famous meatballs which was large and tasted good but nothing extra special , sirloin medium well which was on point then tenderloin breaded with onion rings. There it was, a 'bar' at the end of a small town's side street.. and making matters worse, the city had closed off the main street along the river for construction. Only a couple cars were parked and no sign of people, BUT I had decided I'd try ANYWAY.. I AM GLAD I DID! It was, after-all close to 2 on a Saturday afternoon, so I shouldn't have expected many patrons. I. There were several in the bar area, but I was the only one in the dining area, as if I had my own private tableclothed seating facing aa tv.. perfect! My waitress was exceptional with good suggestions, speedy service and attentiveness thru my meal. My rib eye was perfectly cooked and was a precise, tasty medium -done. My baked potato was soft and also perfectly cooked. My side choice was their homemade bar chips, which for the first time in ages for me , actually were THIN AND tasty! Visited Amelio's on the River with my sister-in-law and her husband. Unique place with a nice atmosphere, and a variety of foods on the menu. They serve several steaks and burgers, Italian dishes, and even a handful of seafood dishes. There's also a bar available if you want a drink to go wth dinner. I decided to go with the manicotti and it was tasty. My brother in law ordered a pork sirloin and couldn't quit talking about how delicious it is. Amelio's is definitely worth visiting if you want a nice dinner in Logansport! read more

There's something to be said about a legend. Once you meet your legend, you are bound to be disappointed. Many have spoken of Amelia's famous meatballs. I have finally tasted it. It was average. We moved here in December and have eaten here many of times. Great food and nice atmosphere. The owner has lots of interesting stories about Logansport and has the documents to back his stories up. A really great guy. The staff is slow at taking your order. Put very nice and friendly. Great music in the bar area. Just ate here.. 5:30pm on a Tuesday. In town for business and found them on TripAdvisor. I don't know if they bring in their second string staff in during the week but I sat at the bar, only one there and took 15 minutes to get service (waitress couldn't serve me at the bar). No interaction, foggy wine glasses, no one but the bartender could turn up the tv; that took another 15 minutes. Another couple came in; again, no one around. Salmon was good; service was awful- should have sat at a table; waitress was friendly. As a fellow bartender, I was very disappointed. read more

I recently had dinner at Amelio's. I was advised that steak is their specialty along with their burgers. I ordered steak with a side of green beans (recommended by the waitress) and a side salad. Salad was good but the dressing was very thick for a vinaigrette. The beans were soggy but had pieces of onion which helped. The steak... Not a good chunk of meat, there were veins through it and wasn't cooked correctly. I was disappointed in the price of the meal vs the quality of the steak. Went in at about 730 on Friday January 12th 2018 they were relatively busy, lemonade is tasteless tasted like they just put a drop of lemon juice in water with no sugar, the double cheese chips were extremely dark, yet soft, almost like they were just old and microwaved for us and tasted burnt, HOWEVER the sirloin steak sandwich was worth enduring through the other things, even though it took 40 minutes to get to us, seasoned to perfection probably the best sandwich in Logansport. read more

We just had dinner at Amelio's. I had the red wine pasta and my husband had the fried shrimp Alfredo. Both entrees were terrible! There was no flavor to my dish and the chicken was overcooked. The shrimp in my husband's dish and the pasta were both overcooked. They did comp our meal, but we thought the owner, who was there, would have at least inquired why we did not like our meals. Went there to have some craft beer while I was in town for business. Had a pint of beer then got a refill. The keg was changed and poured me another except there was yeast sediment in the keg so the first pint they poured was horribly murky and had no clarity unlike the pint I had before it of the exact same beer. Instead of pitching it out an pulling all the cloudy beer out they served it to me and nothing was done when I brought it to the attention of the front of house manager and the owner. I am in the brewing industry as a brewer and used to work at this establishment with the precious owner. Definitely won't be going back to grab a good pint since the staff is not knowledgeable in how beer should look when served properly despite them insisting that's how IPAs are suppose to look. read more

Amelio's catered a large fundraising event for our organization, The Ralph Braun Foundation, at the State Theatre last weekend. The entire experience was delightful, from the planning to set up and catering the day/eve of the event. The owner, Paul, went above and beyond to guarantee that all of the details were in order and both he and his staff ensured that our 200 guests had a buffet of delicious food (we opted for heavy appetizers for the event). Everything served was a hit! After the event, a large group of us headed to the restaurant to celebrate the success of our fundraiser and I finally had an opportunity to grab a bite to eat (as the organizer/coordinator of the event, I did not have time to eat earlier in the eve). My husband and I split a burger, which was huge, juicy and delicious. My husband is quite the burger snob and he gave it an enthusiastic two thumbs up! I live down in the Indy area, but would definitely welcome any excuse to head back to Logansport for dinner at Amelio's on the River. read more
