America's Best Wings falls as my second favorite wing place because of the wing size, which aren't tiny, and the seasoning. I get a 10 piece wing box which comes with a few celery sticks and ranch but I get it fried hard, all flats (+$1) and all 10 with cajun seasoning (sometimes lemon pepper). On the side I usually ask for their hot sauce which costs $0.50 each. It comes out super crispy and seasoned all around. I've only had the wings at this location and the one in Norfolk and the quality of food is the same at both. Reading other reviews, I had my order DoorDashed so I can't comment on the service but they were accommodating to my requests so that's good. read more

5/2/21: It's my first visit here. I was hesitant to come here after reading the reviews. I decided to give them a chance anyway. Sometimes people change, right? Well, I only wanted 5 Old Bay wings. That's all. The cashier was friendly & prompt in helping me. The store looked like it was getting some work done to it on the ceiling. It needs some paint. Outside of that, the store seemed clean & masks are required. No mask, no service. My food didn't take long at all & my food was fresh. Had a taste for some Lemon Pepper Wings so I called America's Best Wings. I ordered ten wings, fries and a drink. That came to $13.41. The server said they would be ready when I got there. That concerned me cause I was right across the street. When I arrived the cashier searched for my order but could not find it. He ask to check the number I called. Comes to find out I called the Newport News Store and not the Hampton one. He ask what did I order and he said they could have it done in a 5 - 7 minutes which they did. He went out of his way to earn my business. The food is served in those white styrofoam boxes, and fries don't stay crisp in those. The wings were cooked to perfection, served hot. Problem was they lacked with Lemon Pepper seasoning. So much I had to ask if any was even in the wings. The restaurant is clean, they have a large menu board and comfortable seating. Most of their orders are call in so it won't be common to see someone waiting in seats all over the place. This is my second visit and for the price you get a nice portion of food. But this place I was used to in Baltimore but here in Hampton Virginia first time I ordered it hit the spot but I got the food to go. Actually this place put me onto Mumbo sauce. But the 2nd time here I decided to eat inside. Realized the cooks have a dirty blanket hanging up blocking the kitchen. Looks like that blanket hasn't been washed in years. The food was terrible and wasn't what I expecting I heard this was the place to go for great wings and I was highly upset that the wings weren't great the sauces didn't taste great and my fries were extremely greasy and I asked to get new ones because my cousin had fries that look edible but was told no because they were all going to come out the same, also they were really stingy with the ranch giving you only one with a 10 piece and to get another one you had to pay .50 cents. The worst wings I have ever had. They were so dry or overcooked that it felt like I was eating paper. I ordered hot wings and my son ordered mild. My wings,were hot but his were so hot that I had him order something else. I like spicy food but this paper tasting wings I could not eat. I ended up throwing them away because they were so dry that reheating them later was not going to make them better. Just orders 2 orders of wings. Paid 50 cent for celery and got 2 hour ass sticks celery. Then my husband added mozzarella stick to our order and they literally brought a box a mozzarella stick out as soon as he ordered them. Immediately I said they were not fresh because it was less than 30 seconds when they brought them out. The man tried to convince me that they were. I broke one in front of his face so he could see that they were cold and nasty. He said he would go back and make some fresh ones. My husband told me not to go off so I didn't. He brings another box 3 minutes later with the same mozzarella stick I broke in half and dropped it back in the fryer. Typically the food is excellent. On yesterday, Tuesday 11 Nov my wife and I went there for our usual lemon pepper wings. After ordeing, we sat and waited for our food. After about 5 mins I looked down and saw a roach crawling. We immediately asked for a refund, and of course they weren't trying to hear it. But they gave us a full refund. Do not go to this establishment! They will steal your money and then lie. 10/3 and order was placed online through their own website stating a pick up time of 12:00. Upon arrival to the store my coworker found that the establishment was closed. 30 minutes later she had to return to work with no food in hand and the store closed. Frustrated, we called numerous time until about 2pm and still unable to reach anyone. It wasn't until after my coworker went to the store around 5:00 were we able to talk with someone. The woman at the counter was rude and tried to tell us that the food had been made and she tried to call, after asking to speak to the manager, Muhammed Maktar, did he admit to them opening up later. So how did we receive our food if they were closed????? After a lengthy conversation with him my associate was able to get him to agree to refunding the money and that he would call the payment company to reverse the funds. Well, its now the 7th and guess what, they completed the transaction and took my money. A formal dispute has been filed with my credit card company as well as the better business bureaus. This location is just meh. The fries are typical crinkle cut frozen, lightly fried and zero salt or any other seasoning - they're not good. The boneless wings are either really, REALLY good or waaaaay overcooked. Tried the fried pickles twice, cooked to crunch and then beyond, inedible both times. They either don't know how to run their drink machine or don't care - I've yet to be able to get a carbonated beverage on a visit. They need to take control of their dining room - people sprawl across all of the tables with their kids running wild, waiting on take out, leaving nowhere to sit should you want to eat in. I've eaten at this location 3 times. 2 out of those 3 there was a issue with my order. 1st time all of my wings weren't completely cooked, I called to let them know, the response I was given was "Oh okay." Last visit, I ordered a Large Fry, they were old and hard. Called them again and I was told "we didn't receive any other complaints about the fries." Seriously sir, are you kidding me right now? This is one of the best wing spot in Hampton. I go pretty often and they are always consistently good. Never had a bad experience with My food or the customer service. My chicken is always fresh and the people that work there are nice. Other than the chicken, the fish sandwiches are huge and fried to perfection and the fried okra is bomb. I ordered wings for the Super Bowl. The traditional wings are decent but the boneless wings were terrible. Tougher than beef jerky. When I called back to get the situation handled, whoever picked up the phone lacked customer service skills and basically told me there was nothing he could do.
