I had an absolutely terrible experience with this business. The groomer was wonderful, but the owner was a nightmare to deal with. I was quoted one price, then charged 35% more, and this was entirely due to an internal mistake on their end, not mine. Instead of owning the error, the owner threatened to charge my card on file (a card I don't even remember consenting to them keeping). As a business owner myself, I cannot condone this kind of behavior or lack of accountability. The way I was treated was unprofessional, unethical, and downright threatening. I was pressured and threatened into paying for a price I never agreed to. This was entirely their internal error, not related to the grooming itself, not due to matting, and not because of any extra services. Just their negligence, plain and simple.This is absurd and horrendous customer service. To be clear: the groomer was great, but the owner is terrible. If you value transparency, honesty, and customer respect, I do not recommend this business at all. Edit: I am not someone who leaves negative reviews. In fact, I have never once left a negative review on any site. But this experience was so absolutely horrendous that it deserves to be called out. That's how bad it was. Edit: Thank you for your reply, but I need to correct the record. In fact, the first mention of a price change came only after the grooming had already started, and then there was no response to my communication until the service was finished. At no point was I sufficiently informed of a solution or given the chance to formally approve it. I most definitely did not agree to the increased amount. Had I been told clearly up front prior to service starting or had been asked if I would like to proceed considering the price increase, I could have decided whether or not to proceed at that price. That's basic transparency. Instead, I was put in a position where the service was already underway and then completed before it was ever confirmed that I would be expected to pay a large % more than what I was originally quoted/estimated, with no alternative 'meeting in the middle' solution ever offered. Additionally, the idea of "meeting in the middle" was not discussed during payment at the end of the service. To present it now as though it were an agreed-upon resolution is simply inaccurate. I want to be very clear: I have no issue paying fairly for quality grooming services, and I've already praised the groomer's work. My issue is with how the business handled their own mistake. Threatening to charge a card on file without my explicit consent and refusing to acknowledge their role in the miscommunication is not professional or ethical. As a fellow business owner, I fully understand the need for customers to pay for services rendered, but I also know that accountability and clear communication are the foundation of good business. Ms. Bonnie was very rude to me, I informed her to lower her voice, she continues to explain about the window scheduleIing , & how it's like how plumbers do. This is a grooming service that can not be compared to a pluming or Elect service. For this company to learn the difference between fleas and cookaburras (i.e.,sandburrs/grassburrs). I got charged an extra $75 on top of $130 for a flea dip & cleaning of their van. I provided pics because luckily I saved the cookaburras from weeks earlier & another one after her grooming. We have been using this service for over a year & were never told our baby had fleas & then all of the sudden being charged the extra $75 & being threatened with police action in theft of services if I disputed just $50 for cleaning of their van. I always thought highly of this company until this & it makes me very sad to be treated this way! I posted all my proof of pictures on their website & all I got was crickets. We are very trustworthy & honest people. I don't mind paying whatever but when the company returns remarks in a threat of theft, then there is where we CUT our ties. BE CAREFUL! I do not wish upon anyone the experience we had with this company. After returning my dog from his bath, we found a spot with blood-matted hair. After examining further, he had a wound on his abdomen that would not stop bleeding. The pictures shown were after flushing, cleaning, and sterilizing the area. I get it, accidents happen, but what happened after notifying the company was beyond disappointing. The company's ownership claimed they had nothing to do with the wound and, after looking at photos, said "what ever that is, it doesn't look fresh." Then, they implied I was wrong for caring for my pet saying "your dog was not cut" and the fact I was asking questions was "not right". The dismissive response from the company was very upsetting. All I wanted was to care for my pet. Please think twice about using this company. They don't care about your business but most importantly they don't care about your pet. read more

A real Cruella De Vil If I could leave a 0 star I would.. Chopped and Botched is right. We used this groomer for at least 4 times in a row, routinely every 6 weeks. Thought they were okay. Until one horrible time, they sent an already chopped picture of our dogs fur stating that it was matted. It was his undercoat and should not have been matted as they had been grooming him every 6 weeks. They then proceeded to shave him completely. It was the middle of winter. This fur was not matted it was an undercoat. It should not have been matted because they were regularly grooming him. However you should never shave a chow, even if it is matted you should progressively clip the fur. Afterwards, we called the owner to complain. Instead of taking accountability for the poor service, she yelled at my elderly mother, claimed that it was our fault that her groomers had not been grooming him properly and hung up. If love your dog, Do NOT allow these people to groom him. They will seemingly do a good job for a couple of times. However you will find out later that they are skipping steps, not actually doing a thorough job, and then they will completely butcher your dog and blame it on you. They will not refund your money. This person is awful, unprofessional, and has no sense of customer service. I also encourage anyone who has had a terrible experience with this company to report them to the BBB. This person is not a dog groomer she is a pet coat butcher. A real Cruella de Vil. Additionally, the owner often lies in order to make herself look good and to defend herself. Negative -100 Review. I recently allowed America's Paw Spaw groom my puppy for a grooming appointment. Unfortunately, during the visit, my dog sustained multiple injuries with the clippers while getting his hair cut. This was very distressing for both my pet and me. He has abrasions (which my vet described as hot spots) on his neck, ears, between his eyes has bald spots, bottom and his buttocks was shaved so close that it was red. His hair was not cut evenly and I expressed I was unhappy with the service received, however my card on file was charged anyway. This could not have been a licensed groomer. While accidents can happen, I was particularly concerned about how the situation was handled. The owner refused to take ownership of what happened and demanded that I pay for the service despite the incident. This response was very disappointing and added to the stress of the situation. After speaking with my Bank it was recommended that I dispute the charge, because the service rendered was not satisfactory and since the card on my account was simply run after I had expressed my disappointment. After I disputed the charge the owner contacted the Police and try to press charges against me for non-payment of service. $147 is not enough for me personally to have to visit a police station on a theft charge, forcing me to release the payment and yet my puppy is stilling healing and this owner could have simply offered to correct the actions as opposed to going through these length. Two things I learned - 1-Things I walk away from with this experience " I guess the Customer doesn't come First" 2 - "People will do anything except stand on the principle of their name and reputation for the money". I hope that Americas Paw Spaw will take steps to ensure such incidents do not and have not occur in the future and improve their handling of such situations. Pet owners should feel confident that their pets are in safe hands. I will be reporting the incident to the local animal control to make them aware that these services are being offered and occurring in my area and around the Dallas Metroplex. read more

He does not look like a Westie in the face - she took off all the "round" that a Westie should have - he looks so weird!! America's Paw Spaw utterly failed on so many points. Customer service, execution of services, pet care, professionalism, and documentation. After a great first grooming with them where the groomer gave our dog glowing praise, saying they were really sweet and great to work with, we were hopeful for continued experiences. To note: our dog has been getting groomed for over 10 years (all his life) and has always been praised for being sweet and easy to work with. He always enjoys being groomed and comes back very happy. This last groomer, James, was a terrible experience from start to finish, letting the customer service for the company continue the disaster. -While the booking agent confidently confirmed they had the previous groom package on file and other details, James claimed he had nothing on file for our dog. -He disrespectfully and visually scoffed at the grooming request (simply: Lion inspired cut) -James claimed our dog had several soft stool accidents and wouldn't stand for most of the appointment. This was not conveyed to us until after the session even though he did call his boss. (Our dog NEVER has soft stool problems and has been having solid bowel movements up to and right after the session.) -Because of this, he blamed his inability to perform the cut to satisfaction on the "dog being in distress" as well as not performing ear cleaning, nail trims, or teeth cleaning. -When he brought our dog back in, the dog was visibly distressed, nervous and his heart was beating extremely fast. This has NEVER happened with a grooming experience. Even when a previous groomer nicked his stomach and caused bleeding, our dog acted happy and friendly. If our dog was nervous around a groomer, there had to be a good reason. -When my girlfriend complained about the cut and the state of the dog, James kept blaming the dog being distressed and even randomly suggested the dog might have an ear infection. -When he asked for payment he did not show a list of charges nor gave her a receipt. Our quoted price was $125+ tax. After a ~$10 tip, the total was $171, leaving $25 in undisclosed charges. My gf only tipped and didn't press for the receipt because she's a nice human and was also shaken by the whole situation. After this ordeal and making sure our dog wasn't actually sick and wasn't having bowel problems (after 5 mins or so and a treat he was back to his sweet self), my girlfriend began politely reaching out to customer service to discuss her dissatisfaction with the grooming experience. This did not go well either. -They kept insisting it's not their fault that the dog was distressed and said that James did his best despite that. They said that was covered in the service agreement. -They repeatedly touted James as their best groomer and said it couldn't be a problem with him as he is "the most requested groomer and has 22 years of experience". -They showed no sympathy at all for our grief or worries and instead were defensive and dismissive from the get go. -They mis-aged our dog and blamed the "distress" on him being elderly. They passive aggressively condescended towards us and our dog, saying "he might get turned away from a salon setting". -They disrespectfully shunned our business when it was clear we only wanted recompense and not to work with them further. Over and over we tried to explain politely and succinctly our experience and even suggested they consult the last groomer from their own company who had the complete opposite experience with our dog. They only cared about defending their groomer and dismissing all of our concerns. They thoroughly proved what kind of company and people they are. I would recommend NEVER doing business with this company. If I could contact that one groomer who actually did a good job, I'd tell him to find a new company to work for. ~~ Reply: Your attempts at accusing us of lying and trying to twist our words are unprofessional and disgusting, much like your customer service. Everything in our above statement along with all statements provided to your company and your groomer are 100% true and accurate. You continue to ignore the glowing review by your other groomer that worked on Chewie months prior. I wouldn't recommend going here. I should've looked at the ratings and went elsewhere but the place I originally wanted to go to was booked and I needed my dog washed today. The groomer was very sweet but they are extremely overpriced. I thought I would be spending $200 but I was told my price would be $300+ tax right before starting. When I told them I wanted to cancel they said it would cost $125 to cancel. I ended up having to pay $325. The lady on the phone was super rude and condescending, and not understanding at all. There is no reason why you should pay over $200 for a grooming service. All they did was bathe him and shave him down. You can get the same service done at King Pup Grooming or Ultimutt Grooming for less than $200, and they are much kinder and understanding. UPDATE: let me edit my review because I can see that the rude condescending lady that was on the phone responded and I would love to respond to her. But before I do, King Pup Grooming and Ultimutt Grooming are cheaper and have way better service. ALSO if you are looking to book a Mobile grooming salon, A&J Mobile Grooming is cheaper and they are so kind! You won't spend $300 and deal with rude people there! Now, first of all ma'am, I am aware that mobile grooming is more expensive and till this day I have never spent more than $300. My pups weight was most definitely entered correctly. He is 50Ibs which is considered a Medium sized dog so please educate yourself and get your facts straight. "Hopefully you can return to salon grooming as mobile grooming is not a convenience you wish to pay for" again, I have done mobile grooming and got 1000x a much better service and still paid less. On top of that you want to lie? What issues did I have at checkout? She needed me to give her my card information, so I transferred the money I had to my card and gave her the information, the transaction went fine, my payment was accepted on the first attempt so please inform me of what "transaction issues" you're talking about? Anyways, I brush my dog regularly but golden doodles tend to matte easier because of their coat, so please don't speak on things if you clearly do not know what you're talking about. No wonder your reviews on yelp are terrible and you guys weren't booked. Only reason I went with your business is because all of the rest were booked, and now I can see why yours was not. I am beyond furious with this company. This is the 2nd time I've used America's Paw Spaw and I can't even put into words how disappointed I am. I have two Australian Shepherds who were due for their summer trim. I do not mind cutting my dogs hair within reason just to lighten their coats and give them a routine grooming. But unfortunately in this instance the groomer (Benjamin) did nothing close to what we asked. He completely shaved my dogs down to the skin which has completely compromised their double coats and now I have to consider health concerns. For anybody who doesn't know, a dog with a double coat strictly relies on their coat for insulation and to regulate temperature. Secondly, they are going to be more susceptible to sunburns and heat rashes. It is now going to take both of my aussies about a year for them to not only grow their coat back but to also make it functional. $400 later I am furious and will never ever consider this service ever again. read more

Josie loves being groomed by Americas Paw Spaw! She always comes out beautifully groomed!

They groomed my 3 month old miniature schnauzer puppy. During the groom I got a text saying she "nicked her dewclaw", When I got her back she was bleeding profusely and after looking at her leg saw that the dewclaw was nearly severed, hanging by a piece of skin. I had to take her to an emergency vet where they had to sedate her and amputate the dewclaw. they blamed it on matting, and she was matted on her legs but when you hit the dewclaw you stop, that would be a "nick" but to almost severe it and her be bleeding so profusely the groomer had to know something more was wrong. I'm sure my puppy yelped! When I informed the owner that I not only paid $203 for the grooming including tip but had a $1,200 vet been there was no response...crickets.... My regular vet asked me if they offered to pay the emergency vet bill but they did not, no free grooming, NOTHING! I cancelled all future appointments. I hope they implement a new policy for groomers to be aware of dewclaws on a dog. Awful experience!!!! read more
