Our air conditioner of 25 years decided to stop working this past weekend. We called out the company that had installed it. however they had been bought out by Dial One Sonshine /Avis. They sent a technician out who ran all of the diagnostics and told us that the repairs were going to cost $7000 or we could replace the unit. We decided if we were going to pay $7000 to have something repaired just to have something else breakdown on the unit that we would get a quote for a whole new unit. We let them know that we did want to get a couple of other quotes and so happy we did. Marcel from American air advance showed up same day. They came out and said my main motor and second motor blew and needed to be fixed they advised to replace my whole furnace at that point. Few days later they sent another guy to go over pricing. We were looking at $12k to $15k for a brand new furnace. $2k in just parts to fix the motors. They advised that the whole ducting system needed to be redone as well $9k for that. Called Marce when he got to my house he actually got my AC running again. Told us not only were both my motors NOT broken but we did not need a new furnace. It's also a pretty bleh and unspecific name for an HVAC company, but that's the sole criticism in this review. The star of this review is the man, the myth, the legend himself: Marcel. Marcel is the nicest, friendliest, most efficient, most honest, and most ethical professional you'll ever meet. Our family has been using his services for probably ten years now, and he has never let us down. Just a couple of weeks ago, my parents were having an issue with their heater, and Marcel arrived within an hour in the afternoon even though my dad hadn't made an appointment in advance. Marcel fixed the problem within twenty minutes. We have recommended him to family and friends, both within the Gateway Cities and in the wider San Gabriel Valley, and Marcel's customers are always surprised at how reasonable his rates are. Marcel knows what he's doing, but he's also always checking up afterward to make sure his installation or repair was completely successful. If we have any issues whatsoever, even if it's something as insignificant as a slight rattle or an unusual noise, he'll come back out and fix the problem. I can't count the number of things in my parents' house he has installed and/or fixed. He's so good at his job, in fact, that the the inside joke in our family is that when anything breaks, even if it's outside of his area of expertise, we should just call Marcel. Last year Marcel install a new heat pump HVAC system for us and move it from ground floor to Attic. This was April 2024. Been very happy with his service and professionalism. Come summer and bedrooms are hot, really hot. At first, I reached out to him and letting him know about the heat in the bedrooms, he send his guy and made some adjustments. But still the same. Other areas of the house are good. We just move in to this house which was built on the 50's and does not know better. Later on after some research, found out the wall do not have any insulation and the part where the bedroom are is in direct afternoon sun which I found out that it was hot to touch in the afternoon inside the house during summer time. We are actually in a warm oven. Got Marathon Insulation to do the insulations (another excellent company) for the outside wall. AND!!! solve the problem.
