I am deeply dissatisfied with the service I received on Flight AA5076 on June 26th. My flight was perpetually delayed for hours until it was finally cancelled at 1:45 AM. I was traveling with my four-year-old daughter, who was understandably exhausted by this time. Due to her fatigue, I was unable to wait in the long line at baggage claim to retrieve my checked luggage. The baggage representative assured me that I could retrieve my luggage the following morning. However, when I attempted to collect my luggage the next day, I was informed that it had been sent to Detroit. This resulted in me being without essential items, including my work laptop, for three days. Being without my laptop had a significant impact on my productivity, as it contained important files critical for my work. To top it all off, the next available flight was three days later. That is when I finally received my bag and finally got to Detroit. This situation caused a considerable inconvenience and disruption to both my personal and professional life. I emailed the company more than once to request compensation or a voucher for all of the inconveniences. I received an email from Chad Brunstein in customer relations that said they are sorry for the inconvenience but we "look forward to having you on board again soon". No money, voucher, credit of any kind was given to me. I have been a customer of American Airlines for awhile, but this situation has scarred me and I will not be flying with this airline again. read more

Firstly l never check bags. I have only done so once. This trip was no different as I had an event to attend shortly after my flight landed. However, we were instructed that there was no more room in the overhead compartments and I would have to check my carry-on. Upon arrival I went to retrieve my luggage and one of the wheels was missing off of my luggage. I called American Airlines customer service later that evening after arriving and was told I had to go back to the airport to file the initial claim within 24 hours. This would be fine if I was arriving home and had the time to do so; I am on a planned trip and do not have readily available transportation nor do I have time built into my itinerary to return to the airport. If I did I doubt you would reimburse me for transportation to and from the airport again. How was I supposed to know to file a claim before leaving? I did not even see a desk or anyone that could assist with this issue when I retrieved my luggage. I did take a picture which would have a digital timestamp of the damage at the airport. This was not communicated. This is extremely in considerate and now I have to purchase new luggage prior to my departure in the next couple of days. Again I could understand if I was someone who habitually submitted complaints or claims. I could understand if I were a customer that has checked bags multiple times or had initially planned to check my bag then one could argue that I knew the procedure of what to do. read more

I would give "0" for some strange reason YELP does not have the option. I was headed back home from MSY back to DCA. I decided to fly first class. I only had a smaller roller luggage and all the guys already seated took up all the luggage space. It's weird that all these guys had more luggage than the only lady in first. Luckily, I had my Lysol wipes in my carry-on under the seat in front of me when I opened my tray, it had leftover food in it from former comrade who was on this same flight that flies back and forth from DCA. When I notified the person serving us prior to receiving my food, she acted as if I did it. When my food was served I loss my appetite and that hideous box snack did not help any. I thought I was getting ill with the leftover food on my tray, lack of I don't care about AA members from the person serving food; and hideous snack food being served. NO THANK YOU. I will NEVER fly American again. On my way to DC from SNA, I was bumped from my first flight due to some plane batter issue, waited another 2 hours to leave and then in ORD at stop over, after waiting 3 hours for my connection, was informed the flight was then going to be delayed for 4 more hours due to some pilot issue. I raised the issue with customer service and they put me on a United flight. Total travel time was 14 hours and all they offered was a meal voucher. On the way home, I was turned around at security because I had cue sticks, which are a listed item but I was not aware. I went back to the agent at DCA and she said to just go to the south security, which then also turned me away. They are $800 cues so I was not going to ditch them but then missed my first flight for an issue the agent knew about. I waited then 2 hours for the first standby and was too far down the list. I waited again and again didn't get on. I looked at the list of flights and saw that there was no way in hell I would ever make it on any American flight, probably because they grossly overbook. So again, I had to turn to United to save my butt. However, this time I had to pay and the one way was the same price as the American round trip because it was same day. American said they couldn't do anything because they said I was late but that was only because I was given bad advice on the cues. The flight back ended up resulting in a 18 hour travel time. Total round trip from SNA to DC travel time of 32 hours!!! Ridiculous. Plus I have not received anything in return. I am currently seeking a refund but we will see if that happens.. my guess is not. I used Amex Travel to book and they were also useless even though I am a platinum card holder. I'll be cancelling that card as well. Terrible experience.. do not use American if you have any other choice.. even Frontier is better. read more

The massive amount of one star reviews is not surprising. It is the same on the Better Business Bureau website. I have spent an exhausing amount of time trying to unsuccessfully get meaningful consideration for problems on my last two flights. In July, I purchased a first class ticket and was called forward by the gate agent that I would be bumped and a representative would call me back to reconcile?? this was certainly stressful. It was even more stressful when no one called me back because the flight then became delayed and everyone flooded the desk for flight changes. Since I was told I would be bumped I dealt with it electronically to book another flight, but then AA would not honor their policy on bumping passengers. Next, this past October, I was offered an opportunity to upgrade to first class. I accepted and (1) even printed my boarding pass showing a first class seat. But the app showed my original seat. (2) I proactively tried to reconcile with AA reps, who assured me I would have a first class seat. (3) The morning of my flight I received a text message telling me I was in first class. Guess what, when I got to the gate, and showed (1) my boarding pass, (2) my text message of my seat assignment , and (3) insisted the gate agent pull up the notes from the night before that I would get a first class seat. All I got was a snarky reply from the agent who shoved a card with an 800 number for me to call to get this sorted out. Even with all of my evidence, complaints to several escalated levels of customer service, a complaint to the BBB, and Dept of Transportation, all I got was miles, which hardly offset the cost of my time and embarrassment. Oh the AA customer rep service said they don't compensate customers for embarrassment. ** Being humiliated by the gate agent is free ; - ) *** What I requested was that the upgrade be honored on a future flight (which I had already booked) between the same origin and destination but apparently this was impossible for AA. In my mind, the invitation to use the miles to fly again so I could have another ?#!?##!! experience. How generous !!! Look we are all on the same boat. We often have little choice in some cases since airlines operate as mini monopolies between certain cities. My only suggestion if you are like me ** "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!! " (See the 1976 movie "Network," if you don't get the reference : - ) ) ** *Consider writing your elected representatives and asking for improvement of airline operations. *I think part of this revolves around stopping the government from allowing anymore mergers and encouraging more competition, if you want airlines to truly value us as customers. *We need to be able to truly leverage the power of competition if the government will not reinstitute contracts of carriage that better protect the consumer. As general advise, I've gotten to the point of leaning more on Delta even if it costs a little more and taking a little longer. Delta, IMO, seems to at least be slightly more interested in customer service, but it is hardly a cure all or a profile in excellence either. **I hope you will join me and start demanding our elected representatives start working more for change and letting the benefits of the free market help us consumers again, instead of being forced to keep accepting terrible customer service!** read more

Their tickets cost more than most people earn in a few days of work, and the only way to get close to a reasonable price is by buying a "Basic Economy" ticket, but then they make you agree that you can't reschedule, cancel, or get a refund, and if you try to, they'll just tell you that it's not possible and you knew what you were getting yourself into. Every experience I've had with them this year has been bad, and I should probably stop buying flights from them. The best they could offer in response to the recent hurricanes was to reschedule to next week, never mind the fact that the event I was going to travel for was cancelled due to the hurricanes hitting the area. Average airline and service with a few things that could be tweaked for improvement. Especially for the past 10 - 15 years I started flying AA more, my experience of AA has been an average American carrier. Over the years some airlines have improved a bit, but AA has remained in the middle of the pack; whether in terms of prices, baggage fees, ticket policies, and food & drinks options. (Mileage plan compared to other airlines has dipped in recent year, but since that is where the majority of my miles are, I guess I will be with AA for a bit longer!) On this last trip from HNL to DCA, my 2nd leg was delayed from DFW to DCA. It was great that I would get regular email or text updates that showed the changes to the estimated departure time, and the made multiple announcements over the airport PA system. The total delay ended up nearly 5 hours, and a complaint was that I kind of felt we were strung along. The new departure time would be changed to 20 minutes later, and then when the 20 min came and went, it would be changed another 15 minutes, then another 20 min, etc. and in the end, FINALLY we all boarded and was off. The reason for the delay was that they were trying to find a cabin crew member, and a flight officer for that leg, and I am not sure if this was due to COVID or some other factor. But had I known it would the delay be that long, I would have made plans to better use that 4 to 5 hours of time! So my request is that if the airline knows there is a delay and if it will be that long, just disclose that to the passengers up front, so we can plan or adjust accordingly. So my normal 3-star score for AA has been docked down a star for this last trip. read more

This awesome agent not only checked me in with lightening fast speed, but Tomas also took the time to explain where the *new* terminal was in DCA as well as the location of the closest Admiral's Lounge. Holly with American Airlines flight #2147 to Boston Sometimes it is, unfortunately, the passengers who ruin the flight and not the airline or its flight crew. This was the case for me this morning. I boarded a flight to Boston and was pleasantly surprised we were on time. I first met a flight attendant who greeted me with warmth and care as I made my way to my seat. Next, I Made my way to my seat with ease. Most unfortunately, I was in the plane's rear near the bathroom. When I got to my seat, Holly met me with bad news. A previous flight had a passenger who decided to take a MAJOR DUMP right before landing in DC and stunk up the plane's rear. Holly was there to redirect passengers to new seats and was most apologetic for the nonsense she didn't even have anything to do with. To make matters worse, the stinky passenger who decided to leave the dump didn't even have the common curiosity to flush the toilet!!!! COME ON, give me a break, people. Passengers need to do better. Holly continued to help redirect passengers and was willing to offer a hint of relief by spaying the cabin with a mild deodorizer. When it was all said and done, and right before the flight took off, I was relocated to a seat away from that putrid stench!! Thank you, Holly and American Airlines!! read more

Fine--weisenheimer that chide me by saying I could use the exercise-- let me offer a preemptive touché. Lose two stars if there is no WiFi on plane. Like a teething baby champing on a pacifier that gets mirthfully plucked from their mouth, no WiFi and I lose my marbles. Loose another star if there is an avoidable airline-gaffe delay. The plane seemed super old; like one of those old pre-Cold War rattling Russian Aeroflot planes-- if you can call it that. The worst experience I have ever had on any airline.. The flight was delayed for seven hours. We sat on the tarmac for 4 hrs waited on fuel and a new pilot. I requested a refund but the worst customer service experience have ever encountered. They tried to offer me a $50 credit as if I would ever fly them again. Okay so as I get older I'm less and less tolerant of unpleasant flight experiences. It could be that in my old age I'm becoming cranky and cantankerous..could also be that now that I'm out of school I'm less dependent on getting the cheapest flight no matter what..whatever the reason, I've started a short black list of airlines and American made that list a few months ago. The husband and I are generally pretty easy going when it comes to flights. He's in the industry and we totally get that things don't always go as planned and one of the worst parts of the business is dealing with irritable passengers..so we try to not be 'those' people. We were on a return flight home to Seatac from DCA when our flight was suddenly cancelled. Not delayed, not changed..just cancelled.. and in the middle of the day too. It was so bizarre because we couldn't figure out why they wouldn't just delay the flight and still get passengers where they needed to go. We were told it was due to weather where the plane was coming in from, but this was in the summer where weather was beautiful nationwide. When the husband checked his air traffic app there was no weather to speak of and other airlines were taking off from that same airport..troubling. We'd heard that American will sometimes cancel flights that aren't full due to overhead costs and still wonder if that's the reason. Regardless, the situation only became worse when American had no interest in assisting the displaced passengers. We were told that as it was due to weather, finding new flights and any hotel stay was on us. Their way of accommodating their passengers was putting the entire flight on standby for two days. Only after two days would they book us another flight on one of their jets, forget about even working with partner airlines to assist their passengers in getting home, that was apparently out of the question. This upsetting situation went from bad to worse when the service personnel we worked with at the counter was incredibly unpleasant to us, which was frustrating because we were not being unpleasant to her. Even though I'm sure she was tired of dealing with cranky people, we were also very unhappy with the situation but were keeping our cool and being respectful adults. Not professional on her part at all. We were told that since we were not first or business class we would be at the bottom of the list to accommodate. I get that buying cheaper tickets reduces your options when you want to make changes or cancellations, but when it's the airlines doing it was really infuriating to be told we didn't matter. The husband was able to catch a ride on any airline due to his profession, but I had to buy another 1000 dollar flight to make it home in time to report to work. We also had to pay for lodging for the night making this quick trip to see our friend get married an incredibly expensive one. This experience has unfortunately made me unwilling to fly American in the future, even when their fare is the most cost effective, their flight time the most convenient, or if they offer a direct flight. I've had more than my fair share of delayed and cancelled flights, the point is that they happen. What distinguishes airlines is how they accommodate and treat their passengers in these situations. read more

@American Airlines Chicago /ORD Airport 10/20/24, boarded plane for home/ Las Vegas. Plane was full and I had an upgraded seat. I had a wheeled backpack that is pretty big, using as purse and laptop plus personal items, so I had only one carry-on totally. Lady with THREE CARRY-ONS: a wheeled overnight bag, a backpack/laptop carrier and her purse. She got on last, seated 5 rows behind me, complained she could not find anywhere to put her luggage. The AM Airlines female ticket/ gate person was on plane for cross check and total count(?). She looked over at me, opened the overhead compartment I had my backpack in (I am almost 68 yrs old and had encountered her before being called up when I heard other airline person call for my group and I went up to board; She was nasty then stating she had not called anyone up), I apologized and sat back down. Her heavy accent made it hard to understand as she asked "... whose blue backpack is this"? Then she quickly repeated. I said oh, mine, I guess, because I had no idea what she was talking about. She snatched my backpack out and threw it at me, hitting the lady next to me too!! Everyone around was shocked, as I counted 6 backpacks across from me in the overhead compartments!! (Yes, I counted them in the 2 open compartments.) As she threw my bag, my portable charger dislodged and I noticed when I got home it was not there (had used it in airport to charge up my phone, while it was in the outside compartment, so i knew it was there). I knew my backpack would not fit under the seat in front of me because it never had before. Other passengers were surprised and complained loudly. I thought the lady passenger with 3 carryon would have been told to check one of the bags, as flight attendants had made that offer to others who had multiple bags. Instead, she isolated me and decided to be angry and throw my bag. A man behind me asked if i was alright, and another said she was horrible, not offering me a say or a choice. I had to sit with my feet on top of the backpack, which they said it has to fit completely under the seat in front of you. Like everyone around my age, I have Arthritis, nerve spasms and numbness in my feet as well as had 2 major back surgeries. Sitting for the 4 hours total like that was painful. My feelings were hurt and I was embarrassed by her singling me out and throwing the bag at me. It hurt a bit but not debilitating. Riding with the bag under my legs and feet was painful. I was so cramped up. I will NEVER LET ANOTHER PERSON THROW A BAG ON ME AS I AM SEATED, UNEXPECTEDLY. I travel a lot for AUSA, and have told others who were aghast to learn someone would do that. I should have made a complaint as soon as I landed. The very long walk and tram ride in Las Vegas airport was ahead of me. My husband was waiting and asking which carousel luggage was on. I just wanted to get home and relax. I regret that choice. read more

I only gave one star because I could not select 0. Flying from Fort Myers Beach Florida home to Syracuse NY. Had a connecting flight through DCA. The plane arrived into Fort Myers late, then got delayed and left late. When all was said and done, we arrived at DCA at 2201 with our connection departing 2220. We had to sprint through the airport to attempt to make our flight. Not only had they closed the door 12 min prior to departure (knowing we were 3 gates down and were one of the only ones with a connection on time) when I went to "customer service" to see what could be done, we were bumped to a flight 8 hours later and now going through Boston and were told nothing could be done to help us further since the delay in was "air traffic controls fault, not American Airlines" this is after the last 3 times I flew American for work was delayed and late to work meetings due to them. Can't say enough bad things about this airline....definitely gives Spirit a run for its money! Only take this airline if you absolutely HAVE TO. This is the THIRD time I've had delayed flights from this airline. Trust me, I'm all for safety measures and some things are just out of your control, BUT the customer service is HORRIBLE! They delay the flight, don't make announcements no explanation as to the delay and when you ask, they get irritated. THREE times in the last two months I've had to travel American and each time my flight either was delayed or canceled with no explanation, no voucher, not even an apology for the inconvenience. One time they canceled my flight and didn't even offer to put us in a hotel or give us a discount or upgrade ... nothing. It was horrible. I was attempting to get somewhere today and yet again because of American, I won't make it in time....received an announcement 10 minutes before the 2nd delayed notice that there is a mechanical issue. I can't quite recall a company, business, or organization that has so terribly wronged me in such a vicious and upsetting way as American Airlines recently has. And nothing short of their CEO personally reaching out and attempting to reconcile would lead to me ever using this Airline in the future. I won't hold my breath. In fact, I was so angered and gutted by their failures on my most recent trip that I waited for about two weeks to write this so it would be a more balanced thought out review vs the fountain of vitriol that I was gushing at the end of my trip with American Airlines. Here was the trip I booked on American Airlines: Dec. 8th: Flight from Reagan International to Buffalo Niagara Airport Dec. 10th: Flight from Buffalo Niagara to Indianapolis International with a connection in Chicago O'hare Dec. 11th: Flight from Indianapolis International to Reagan International Dec. 8th : Washington to Buffalo with American Airlines *A gate change starts the day *The flight is delayed by 2 hours and 15 minutes *The flight is delayed again by 56 minutes *The flight is delayed again by 55 minutes *The flight is delayed again by 25 minutes *The flight does not board on time That day I had planned to go up to Niagara Falls, followed by a winery tour, and exploring a town called Niagara-On-The-Lake Ontario. Those plans were shot due to American Airlines. How did they reconcile with the passengers who waited through over 4 and a half hours of delays? They put out cheap deli sandwiches, junk food, and canned non alcoholic drinks. No one came out to apologize or tell us this food was for us. A woman who looks like she oft does this, rolls the cart next to the gate and just leaves. After the third delay the passengers were in an uproar, and admittedly so was I. I went up to the gate attendant and asked what was happening; being a weary flyer myself, I wanted to make sure the plane was ok. To make my fears even more concrete she told me that the delays were because of mechanical issues with the plane. I asked, "Why don't you bring out another plane instead of delaying and delaying." Her response was, "Listen, when your car breaks down, you don't just go buy a new car - you go to a mechanic." So I said... "This is not a car. You're an airline. I don't have extra cars in a hanger out back." Her response was "There are no other planes." At this point I go up to American Airlines Customer Service and state my concerns about flying on a plane with pervasive mechanical issues that they can't fix. She tells me, "Listen... the pilot wants to get back to his family tonight too. We're not going to let you fly on a plane that's not safe." The words seem empty and rehearsed. After a couple more delays, they switch the plane. Still no apologies, no upgrades, no vouchers, nothing. Dec. 10th: Buffalo to Chicago to Indianapolis with American Airlines *The Buffalo to Chicago O'Hare leg is delayed off by 21 minutes *The Buffalo to Chicago O'Hare leg flight is delayed again by 36 minutes *It is now impossible to make my connection in Chicago- they rebook me *The gate changes *I fly to Chicago O'hare * The Chicago to Indianapolis leg is delayed by 27 minutes * The Chicago to Indianapolis leg is delayed again by 11 minutes * The Chicago to Indianapolis leg is delayed again by 8 minutes *The Chicago to Indianapolis leg is delayed again by 8 minutes * The Chicago to Indianapolis leg is delayed again by 21 minutes That day I was planning on exploring Indianapolis. Those plans were shot due to American Airlines. Sidebar SMH Moment: Before the gate changed that day, the gate attendant made an announcement saying that he would call up people by name who had connection issues to resolve them and make sure they were taken care of. The gate changed, he moved to the other gate, called no one up, and then left. A line starts forming at the new gate of people that have connection issues and I eventually give up on my name being called and join that long line of disgruntled passengers. I wait about 15-20 minutes in line to talk to the gate attendant. Dec. 11th: Indianapolis to Reagan International Airport (With 8 wk old Puppy In Tow) *This is the only flight that is not delayed. *We land in Reagan and walk out of the plane to being onto the tarmac. A bus is there which takes us to a side entrance of the Airport. *We were not warned by the staff of this, everyone walked out confused and cold. *We walk up backwards through an emergency exit tunnel into the terminal though a flight or two of stairs. Thank goodness I checked my luggage. To add so much insult to injury: American sends me an email asking me to take a survey. But the email is specifically asking for only my experience on the December 11th flight and nothing else. They don't want my feedback on the 3 other flights with massive hold ups, money I feel conned out of, teasing delays, or time and experiences they robbed me of. Well, here ya go. read more

Poor shame. I love a good flight fare. My advice is to just go with Southwest Airlines instead. The flexibility and customer service of Southwest is unmatched. I booked AA for the lowest fair not realizing the AA believes penny-pinchers don't have emergencies. I have to now extend my flight a day but can't just do that and pay the difference. No, I have to sit at my desk on hold for 40 minutes while someone tries to assist me. The change isn't rocket science. Just put me on a flight the next day. I go to view online if I can just make the change like I can with Southwest. No, it's "not allowed". Hopefully, I can get a credit and just rebook or save it for another trip. I go against my better judgment when booking with AA. They are the worst. The in-flight experience is typically mediocre, nothing special but nothing horrible either. AA has some cool looking livery. They are a competent airline. Thank goodness they bought US Airways, which was the industry joke for years. This isn't to say that AA is super, as no I'm annoyed by their luggage fees. These have been put in, as less of their employees seem to be available at Reagan Airport. That alone can be frustrating. Yet they do work for me. I've found them to have a lot of flights, and also they are also usually price competitive. Their planes are well maintained and comfortable. They could do what Jet Blue does with television channels, and the leather seats, but this is a no frills experience. They are good about communicating delays. I'm content with their area at Reagan, have flown with them multiple times, and definitely give AA your consideration for flights. read more

Just like so many who fly this airline, we do it because we have to, not because it's our preferred airline. They lock up certain routes and the passengers follow. That's what happens when monopolies are allowed to exist. I'm actually writing this review while waiting at Reagan National Airport for the latest in a series of false explanations (lies) regarding why the flight is delayed FOUR @&%# HOURS! In fact, when I weto get rebooked, the woman at the counter said "oh, the board just hadn't been updated! You're leaving on time!" "If I were you, I'd go back to the gate and wait there!" That was TWO HOURS AGO! To placate those of us waiting for the flight, American Airlines put out a "Refuel and Refresh" cart with stale ham sandwiches, potato chips and bottled water. Kind of a nice and thoughtful gesture given the circumstances. Unfortunately, most of their own employees are the ones picking through the cart. It was funny watching the first few American Airline employees try to "grab and go". It became less amusing as the time got closer to noon and more counter personnel and ground crew in yellow vests thought lunch was served! A wonderful flight experience: In-Flight Crew was a dream team of three women from 15-25 years of experience handing out airborne hospitality. Comfortable, slight reclining leather seats with charging outlets. Free entertainment accessible from the AA App with free Gogo In-Flight Wi-Fi. Rare find amongst the big blue shelf of complimentary snacks that were available in our pre-boarding area due to a previous flight delay. Perhaps my best flight experience on AA. read more

I am very disappointed at American Airline DCA Airport in Washington DC. Yesterday 9/18/2019 I was faced with an emergency and was obligated to head to the airport around 9 pm to see if I could board an earlier flight unfortunately all flights to Miami were gone. So I had to sleep at the airport in hope to catch the earliest in the morning. My original flight was setup for today 9/19/2019 at 9:25 am flight AA 2278. So at 5am the counter open and I talked to Jim. I asked Jim if he could change the flight to the 5:59 am flight AA 1178 and he basically was just worried about identifying me and declining my request with no regards to why I was asking. So I called customer service and talked to Mina and she was sympathetic to the situation. I asked her even if the flight is empty if there were no exceptions and she advised me to ask at the desk. So I returned to the desk and spoke to Jim again and again he went in and stated policies and moreover said that the other operator was wrong to advise me to ask if they could let me board since the flight was empty. We don't live in a perfect world and I'm am very upset about how American handled my situation. read more

My wife and I have flown American Airlines for several years now and I really never had much of a problem. Overtime the seats and all the airlines have been getting smaller with less leg room. I do appreciate the ability to select a seat with more legroom but don't find it worth the money for short flights. Person at AA line told us to go to domestic line even after we told her we're going to Greece via Chicago. We had to be routed back to International line. At the check in , the female agent with polka dot cloth mask stood there and ask how may I help you and stood there. She should ask what is your flight number and may I have your passport. She was rude and unfriendly. read more

This is why I book Frontier only, AA is not worth the payment. God forbid something goes right, flights are always delayed or you miss a flight because of a last minute uninformed gate changes. Also customer service? What's that to AA? Attendant who booked my standby didn't inform me of a last minute gate change resulting in ANOTHER missed flight, her response was "oh well, should have checked". Meanwhile I asked all clarifying questions about my updated flight information, as well as using my app to track statuses before I left her check in counter. I was re-rebooked and the flight I that was originally my standby became delayed with my checked bag onboard. AA associates don't care to to help and don't care when they make a mistake. This is the third time this has happened to me using AA. Never again. read more

My flight from Las Vegas to DC was 6 hours delayed because of mechanical problems. So I needed to get home and had to take a swa flight instead. It cost me over 600.00 to get back home. Instead of flying to DCA I had to fly to Bwi which is an hour from home. This was the trip from hell. I contacted American Airlines and all they gave me was 2500 point, not even enough points for a soda. The customer service sucks and I'll will not be flying American Airlines again. read more

This airline is in the business of separating toddlers from their parents. After with 3 representatives over the phone and being reassured my two toddlers will be seated with us once we checked in with the gate agent, they tell me my 4 year old will have to sit by herself unless I board and request a good natured passenger to trade seats with me. I am so tired of this airline checking my bag at the gate when there is a TON of space left. Not a LITTLE amount of space. MANY spaces. Now, I have to wait at baggage claim, wasting my time. I wish I'd taken a picture before they shut all the empty (or near empty) bins. UPDATE: then to top it off, we waited over an hour only to find out they had sat them all to the side by the baggage claim. THEN I needed my sticker (which I normally never save-because they never check them when you pull them off the belt) this time they wouldn't release my bag till I found it. I thought United Airlines was terrible, but they are Rockstars compared to AmericanAirlines. Usually you have to go to a government agency to find people as unconcerned about customer service as I did with AmericanAirlines. You stand on one slow line just to be told you need to go stand on another long, slow line while you're staring at ticket agents at other positions doing absolutely nothing. And those other ticket agents won't help you because it's not part of their "process". This goes on until you miss your flight and they couldn't care less. read more
