And if you want to access DC via the metro, there is a station right there to take you into town within 10 to 15 minutes. Arlington is right there as is the Pentagon. It is located in Arlington, VA and this is as close to Washington, DC proper as you're gonna get with an airport. This airport has grown and expanded over the years and was once a very small, one terminal airport, but that was before the Reagan years aka his name was added to it. The airport is very easy to navigate, due to its smaller size, and they are still upgrading - I mean does it ever really end lol. You can easily access the airport by car, uber/taxi and or metro, which is a huge plus for both local peeps and out-of-towners. All the necessities are here from travel shops to souvenirs to food & drink. Restrooms are modern with all automatic amenities and they are kept very clean. I'm 55 years old and I travel 5-10 weekends in most years. I can say without a doubt that Kemar made me the best sandwich that I've ever had in an airport. I have flown out internationally on occasion, without any difficulty. They have plenty of on and off-site parking (with free transportation to and from the airport). There is also a Marc train station, and public transportation options in addition to ride share services. They have plenty of food and shopping options available. They are currently undergoing a renovation which will provide better luggage retrieval and more food options. This airport is not too big and also not too small, the perfect size to sprint to the last gate and hopefully, lol, make your flight when you're short on time. All in all, this a perfect airport for me and meets most of my flying needs, especially domestically.

I had my dogs with me so I love when everything can go as smooth as possible. The guy that was checking the IDs and boarding passes was nice and was trying to keep the line moving!! He did a great job. Then once we get into the next line to strip down....kidding...just the normal routine shoes, any pocket items, metals items, laptops..etc. Since I have my dogs I have to place everything on the belt and wait for it to go by and then go through the walking metal detector rather than the standing arms up your under arrest stance detector. Any who as soon as I walked through the walking detector I was greeted by a smiling TSA worker that adored my dogs. As many may not know they will wipe both your hands down so they can see what chemicals you may be carrying. So after that they put it in a machine and I have to wait. Once I was cleared, on to getting my stuff. All in all I received a great experience and appreciated all the smiles!!!

I recently had a layover at DCA when traveling from Phoenix to Toronto on American Airlines. I enjoyed the layover and found the airport, its staff, and the airline lounges all to be very convenient and helpful. I learned on this visit though that locals and frequent flyers typically call it "National" or "DCA" while out-of-town visitors call it "Reagan." I used all three interchangeably so I'm not sure what that means for me. The clubs and lounges in DCA Airport are much better than usual and there are more of them than usual. I have two travel premium credit cards: the AAdvantage Executive Mastercard offering complimentary Admirals Club access (including the locations near gates C24 and in concourses B and E) and the American Express Platinum card offering other lounge access (including the Centurion Lounge near the B gates and the Delta Sky Club near B15 if I was flying Delta). Other lounges include the United Club near B11 and the Capital One Landing in the main connector area. The Admirals Club near the E gates was incredible and a newly reimagined lounge. My AMEX Platinum also provides travel credits along with complimentary CLEAR and Global Entry membership. There is also the USO Center in Terminal 1. The DCA airport's website (https://www.flyreagan.com) shows ways to enhance your trip or even how to make the most of your summer with a summer travel guide. There are 87 shops and restaurants in the airport with new ones always being added. If you're going to be parking at DCA often, sign up for their PassPark Rewards program (https://parking.flyreagan.com/passpark-rewards). Airport amenities in addition to airport lounges include charging stations, free WiFI, a concierge, baggage carts, and interfaith chapel, kids play space, nursing rooms, pet relief areas, and more. It really does feel that the airport staff put a lot of intentional effort into making sure everyone feels welcome and that there's something at the airport for everyone. I certainly won't mind a layover at DCA in the future!
