I've been flying for about 40 years. Typically fly from/to GSP which is a FANTASTC airport. American Airlines personnel treated me with respect and were very helpful except that counter personnel in Durango, CO tried to charge me for a bag for which I had already prepaid. Recently took a vacation which required a plane change at DFW. Outbound flights were uneventful. En route home the original flight was delayed for hours due to a crew shortage so I was going to miss my connection in DFW. Then I was told DFW was on a ground stop due to weather but was then told by counter personnel that DFW was "flying again". They booked me on a later connection as a precaution at my request. Great right?? Not really. Upon arrival I deplaned into a real dung show at the American terminal at DFW. First, my connection was delayed for 2 hours then CANCELED. I received e mail updates from American about 5-6 hours AFTER THE FACT. Again, American personnel at DFW were excellent and helpful BUT the rebooking line was 2.5 hours long. After waiting in that line ( folks were telling me that no one was answering the help line and the app wasn't functioning, I saw one person get through to them on the phone) I was given a standby pass on an am flight the next day and told that all flights to GSP the next day were full. I was told to check with the rebooking counter about 7 am the next day. About 3 am the next day I stood in the rebooking line for another hour and received a confirmed boarding pass on the am flight. That flight had 9 standby passengers and I saw one person receive a confirmed boarding pass. Throughout the prior evening I saw folks holding standby passes denied boarding and told to return to rebooking lines to try again. These lines averaged 2-3 hours in duration. Weather happens but American Airlines seemed to be quite dysfunctional at DFW. On the last flight home to GSP we were an hour late ( about 40 minutes onboard a hot plane) because we didn't have a pilot! The First Officer apologized for the heat telling us the APU wasn't functioning so there would no air till we were airborne. When the pilot arrived he apologized telling us he thought he was flying somewhere else that day and had to hotfoot it across the airport to staff our flight! I have written this review as factually as possible devoid of emotion. Nearly forgot: One checked bag didn't make the flight at DFW and was delivered to my home the next day. Bag claim personnel at GSP told me that the lady in front of me was missing her bag which contained a WEDDING DRESS. read more

Food is OK, not spectacular in first class. Service is good, but certainly not as good as other airlines. The fold out beds were great and did allow us to get several hours sleep. read more

Yet another great flight from an AAmazing AAirline! I flew from DCA to GSP and then back home and both flights were excellent and offered great service. I love that DCA is a hub for AA as I have so many options for nonstop flights, like this one! All of the staff I encountered were helpful and great. Flight might have been delayed from GSP back to DCA, but we arrived on time, actually early! I'll continue to be a satisfied customer of American Airlines! read more

I fly about every week or two to and from GSP and I really appreciate AA: 1. Consistently pretty friendly, and consistently professional, employees. 2. Nice planes. 3. GSP is a great airport and my destination airport is, too. Airlines seem to get pretty low reviews from the public but for the people who gripe: any mass transportation method will have rules to follow and the like, and at least the people who work for AA are nice and pleasant. Much better on average than, say, Amtrak. read more

Out of all the airlines I fly, American is by far the worst. I now know why they are a cheaper airline. Two people called out and our flight was delayed and needed to switch flights 3 hours later. I get it, people are people and if they get sick it is what it is. But really? I would have thought they had people on standby. It's not like this is a desk job. Ok so I've never really had a problem with them. This is a regional airport. And they do their best to get you where you need to go. I've had problems with a flight being late. But it was coming from another place. That happens. But if they know you are connecting they do their best to get you their. Flights out of here are mainly to Charlotte and Atlanta. But they do have to other regional airports. And Airforce One has landed here before. Talk about a nightmare for everyone. When they had to hold all flights until he was gone. When I was flying to Australia. I had to fly to Los Angeles first. And my flight was late in getting their. And it was the last flight leaving to Charlotte. For my connection. They worked their magic. And got me to California. And I made my flight to Australia. Here everyone is first class. At least that's how they treat you. read more

Hate that this even gets 1 star. Absolutely disappointed with my experience at American Airlines. Their staff was rude and not accommodating at all, as our bags were forcibly taken from us right before we boarded. I was told there was no more room on the plane for carry ons, but once we got on the plane there was enough room for a whole other flights worth of carry ons. Extremely disappointing since I specifically did not want to deal with baggage claim as it gives me high anxiety. We had an amazing trip but this has left a horrible taste in my mouth. read more

Today was the first time I was ever disappointed in the crew on America airlines, I noticed some blood on the back of my seat where I was putting my water bottle, I advised them of the situation and I was told that the flight attendant was not a cleaner and they would get me a wipe to clean the blood up, so as stated I was told here is your wipe, really you just made the COME ON MAN list read more

A delayed special shout out to American Airlines Zack Kibler who assisted in a new piece of luggage that the zipper blew out when baggage needed to be placed under the small commuter flight since it was full. He apologized, handed me the bag, politely said so sorry. I asked about damage baggage to which he directed me. Patsy Scruggs handled damaged bags! She was very kind, quick to handle the situation. She offered me another bag right on the spot. The bag was much larger, but I needed something! Grateful for another bag to travel with. Thank you! I tried to call and advise I was worried about covid considering I was at a large event and flew with AA. My test hadn't come back yet. I said for the safety of other passengers and crew, I would like to wait until I received my results. The representative said I had the option of cancelling my flight, but would be charged for a new one. The manager agreed. Saying it was "my choice" I asked if it was his choice to possibly spread covid. He said as long as I wore a mask, he saw no problem. I did. At that point he told me I would be flagged by security. The "flag" was a sweet guy that asked if I had any symptoms. I replied "I didn't feel safe on your plane. I saw passengers, children, and staff take off or down their masks, so I took the test and haven't got the results." He said I was free to go. read more

Only reason American Airlines has any star from is is because I have to put a star to submit my review. But...anyways the last 5 times I have flown with American this past year of 2022 the airline either canceled my flight, canceled and then gave me a whole different time of flight, and delayed my flight time. For instance we are flying over land so felt it was necessary to delay the flight time due to a missing life preserver...? Like what?? I have been a loyal customer for the past seven years and now I am breaking that loyalty and switching to delta, the airline that doesn't screw your trip up. I would suggest you all do the same!!! Trying to use an AA flight credit from last year within the designated time period. Not able to book a new flight using a flight credit on my app or online, told i have to call in. Called AA. 4.5 hour wait so i chose the call back option. The recording suggests for quicker service i use my app or book online! - I got a call back after 4.5 hours. (I get it, COVID, staff shortages etc.) As much as i like talking to the AA staff once i get through (they are all very professional) why can't i book this on my app or online???????? AA called me back after 4.5 hours. I was then on hold for 26 minutes while my agent helped me book. I want to be really clear hear, my review for Rachel who helped me is 5/5. My review for AA's system/process/customer centricity is 1/5, which should be 0/5 if i could.
