AutoInstincts diagnosed the issue quickly and said I needed a new trans pan gasket and it be $678 [4hrs of labor]. I approved it but when they started the work the tech found that the front 4 trans pan bolts were loose. They tightened the bolts, topped off the fluid and test drove it. No leaks. For this they only billed me $233. Either the tech or the shop mgr could have simply done the original job and made more $ but they both were honest, which is rare nowadays. I will be bringing all my Japanese cars to Auto-instincts going forward. I won't have to worry if they're overcharging or trying to upsell me.

My visit this week was for something silly: a noise being made by a broken "belly panel" underneath the car. A simple fix with no real mechanical components (a good thing), but Lorenzo felt bad because it was a dealer-only part that was pricier than it should have been. Not his fault, and I know they'll take care of me on another fix down the road when they have more control. That said, once the part was in, the car was fixed in about an hour. Good service. I went in for transmission fluid change earlier in February in my Toyota Camry 2018. I bought OEM Toyota transmission fluid and asked Joe to help do drain and fill.The drain and fill was completed. After that there was a rough driving issues started. I went back to show my car to joe and he drove the car he told me he don't see any issues. I wanted him to check transmission fluid port on if there is low transmission fluid he didn't agree and told me I might be overthinking. I went to different mechanic in April and he checked. I paid $100 to reopen the port for transmission fluid and what we saw was no fluid came out from the primary port. He added 0.5 quarters left. The issues I have had for rough idle and need to have higher RPM on slope went away completely.According to him you have to keep the car running when you drain the fluid and you need to have it at the right temperature he said the drain and fill wasn't done correctly that's why there was still room for fluid. The viscosity of the fluid makes a difference in how much you can fill and drain. He double checked for leakage and there were no leaks either. When I went to joe and asked about don't you have to keep car warm to see if temperature is right? He said you only do it when there is a leak. I don't think Joe knew enough about mechanics of New car. I wasn't overthinking when I went to ask Joe for help and asked to recheck the transmission fluid. I paid $260 for labor only( $160 to Joe and $100 to another mechanic) for same job. It's really absurd. Overall this could have damaged my transmission. I think for future the customer advise should be taken seriously. I know my car well so I know when it's not acting good. I have been driving it from 10 years.

After the car was in their possession, they suddenly raised the price to over $8,032-more than double the agreed amount. When I declined, they charged me $800 for diagnostics, despite the fact that I had already received the same diagnosis from the Bentley dealership. Then, on the same day, they notified me that they were imposing a daily storage fee and threatened to lien my vehicle if I didn't pay. I never agreed to any storage fees, nor was I warned in advance. At the time I hadn't even been to the business because the tow took it directly. This was a classic bait-and-switch, followed by coercion tactics and a refusal to release my car. I am filing a lawsuit for unfair business practices, fraud, and conversion. Please think twice before trusting your vehicle--and your money--to this shop. Transparency, honesty, and basic integrity should be non-negotiable in auto repair. Sadly, I found none here.
