We loved their online portfolio and came to Ozzie, Owner, with a very complex large and tall retaining wall project for our backyard. We enjoyed working with their team so much that after our backyard was completed, we signed on to do our front yard and driveway with them! After our initial meeting with Ozzie and Christine, Designer, they knew right from the get-go that our project will need to go through the 3-6 month permitting process with the City of Seattle. They also let us know early on that a structural engineer, geotech, and site surveyor were needed and they would be handling the coordination process. We felt confident in signing the contract after our meeting since they were detailed in explaining the entire process to us from design conception, permitting, to construction. Christine came to us with fantastic designs, while making our challenging backyard as usable as possible with the large retaining wall. She listened to our needs, made design adjustments to fit our lifestyle, and also stopped us from making decisions that would not benefit us (very important!). She quickly turned around updated drawings and renderings and gave us great suggestions on where to shop for materials to create our desired look and feel for our backyard. Ozzie got us through permitting smoothly and we were ready to start construction! He and his team were amazing throughout the entire process. We encountered several material delays that were outside of anyone's control and he was very communicative on timelines while we waited for things to arrive. Ozzie and his team were very accommodating to making adjustments during the construction process to make sure we got things built exactly as we envisioned like pattern layouts, tile layouts, and lighting placement. Called Rare Bears a couple weeks later to inquire on the quote and was told they'd get on it. After a few more weeks, never heard back. If a company decides to pass on a job, I'm fine with that (if that's what happened in this case). But if a company ghosts you after multiple chances, they're dead to me. We had a fairly large project involving different fence types, four different gates, and also…read morelogistically difficult due to our hill and delicate plants. We worked with Jacob to make a plan and work out details and needs. Jacob assured us the plants would be avoided as best as possible, and went over what should be moved or tied back to help ensure they were protected. Inevitably a couple of plants were just too in the way, but overall the team took lots of care around them. There was a little delay with the posts we went with and Jacob communicated wonderfully about this, and worked to get us in immediately once the posts were finished with the fabricator. Cristian led the work crew and was an excellent communicator throughout. We ran into a couple of underground wires that were not properly marked by the marking company, he was extremely remorseful and one of the guys ran out to get parts immediately to put in a temporary fix. Again, this was not their fault, yet they took responsibility. The team worked hard for several days, always communicating what was happening. They were respectful, and not loud (except for power tools as needed). The project made a bit of a mess, I was a little worried about clean up, but Cristian assured me they would be doing a full clean up once the project concluded. They did such a great job cleaning up! We had some custom design ideas…read morewe wanted to incorporate: for the main section, we wanted a paneled lattice with a trellis on top, and for the lower section, a 2x2 galvanized wire panel to let light through while keeping rabbits out. We also had specific quality requirements, such as using a post-on-pipe installation to avoid wood rot. After reaching out to Sky Fence and 5 other well-known Seattle companies, only Sky Fence said they could meet our custom design and quality needs. The other companies offered a range of prices for lower-quality fences, while Sky Fence provided a single quote with the highest standards at a competitive price. Using a few sketches we provided, Sky Fence built a beautiful fence that matched our requirements perfectly. Jacob and his team did an amazing job, even installing the fence on top of a concrete wall. Communication throughout the process was smooth, and I couldn't be happier with the work they delivered. Finding skilled people in Seattle is hard, but occasionally you find some amazing people. My only complaint is about the contract. It was hard to read, lacked detail, included stock photos that didn't match our design, and had no itemization--just a final price. It felt like signing a promise to build what we asked for, thereby taking a leap of faith, which made me a bit uneasy. Still, Sky Fence absolutely delivered, and I would hire them again without hesitation. A few before and after photos attached.
