I was measured at a different tux shop, in California, not @AcTuxOhio I don't think all the measurements were off though. Make sure you come in a couple days before you need your tux and try on everything. I needed: bigger shoes, bigger shirt, longer pants and larger jacket. The vest and bow-tie were fine...fortunately they had everything on hand to get me set up on the spot. Maybe their sizes run small? Looking for a beautiful, elegant evening gown for a black tie affair? Or a flirty, sophisticated fit and flare cocktail gown? Then get back into your car and go to Beachwood Place. This place rides on the ol' dazzle-dazzle. I'm reviewing the gown end of the store. This end has a large salon type room with several dressing rooms. It's done up in a nice way, but is a little dusty. The sales girl was very nice, but when asked to find a specific gown in a specific price range, she could not do it. She brought dresses that were at least $100 more. She should have said there was nothing in the style and color I was looking for...because the store didn't have anything like that. Instead, my time was wasted. Granted, I did humor her and tried on several things, and she was super sweet and tried her best. Everything here has a pound of sequins and beads on it; think of a beaded grandmotherly type dress, and then make it long and a neon color, and add some tulle. This is what they sell here. Also, please know that you will not find ANY dress or gown here for under $200 (Including after markdown and sales-think 40% off $500). Two, the dresses are tacky for anyone out of their teens. If you are over 19, you will NOT find anything flattering here-everything either looks like a ugly bridesmaid dress or that a sequin factory threw up all over it. These are COSTUME quality, not red carpet. You will NOT find anything elegant, sophisticated or even classic. Think pageant gowns: heavy, beaded, and ostentatious. A simple chiffon sheath dress for a bridesmaid is $250, here. And it's thin and cheap. If you're young and want something in a neon green, pink, or bright turquoise this place is for you. If you are playing the Good Witch of the North and need a dress, this place is it. If you're more Audrey Hepburn, into designer fabrics and cuts, want something in black, silver or high-end, go to Nordstrom, BCBG, Guess, or even Macy's. Stay away. I rented a tuxedo here for my wedding. I wasn't terribly impressed by the store when I was there, but proceeded against my better judgment. They gave me a reference number for my brother, as best man, so he could get his tux there. When he called that day and gave the number, they said they couldn't find it. I then left two voice mails for them over the next couple of weeks, and never heard back from them. Needless to say, we decided to get our tuxes elsewhere. When I finally managed to get a hold of Commodore the week of my wedding to request a refund, they said that they could not, because the tux was already ready. I reminded them that they had lost the reference number and that I had been trying to contact them for weeks, but they had not returned my two voice mails. They didn't care. Please do not waste your time or money here. The workers are incompetent and lazy. I've been here recently for 2 weddings and when I traveled back to Cleveland and showed up to be fitted, my tuxedos were completely wrong. I experienced everything from wrong colors, sizes, and egregious ripping in materials with piss poor attempts and quality to repair damage in the crotch, pant leg, and torso related items. I was baffled at the amount of mistakes that I experienced, as well as each and everyone one of the wedding party members I was with for both tuxedo fitting occurrences. Because of the many mistakes, someone in our wedding party needed to take time out of their days on the MORNING of the wedding to pick up items that should've been ready and accurate days beforehand. I truly was appalled, but now used to, the amount of incredibly terrible customer service and overall lack of effort. I never write reviews on Yelp! unless I really needed to. This is one of those cases. I really hope that this business gets their act together quickly, or their business is in jeopardy of failure. This is the poorest run Tux rental I get measured for my Tux have to come back two days before the wedding, and they have the wrong size shirt and Jacket. Then they tell me it will be in tomorrow by 5 I have to be 50 miles away by 5 for rehearsal which means I have to get to the Mall the day of the wedding to get my Tux why don't you have other sizes in the store or let people try on 4 days before. I rented tux's for my wedding from this location without any problem or hassle. Ray went out of his way to ensure we were taken care of. The wedding party included a total of 14 or 15 tux's! Everyone was pleased with their order, sizing and cut of the tux's and they looked GREAT! I recommend this place to anyone and everyone. You will be taken care of! read more

If I could rate this place 0 stars, I would! I've had nothing but trouble with the South Euclid location, I've spent numerous hours on the phone trying to fix things & have made multiple trips to the store to sort it all out. Nothing that I requested was in the system, I just went in today & my dads suit shows no balance and nothing paid so I have to go back tomorrow because they don't have a manager there daily to fix things. If I could go back & redo my suits for the wedding I definitely would have gone to Men's Warehouse, but unfortunately we're a month away and can't switch now! BEWARE! read more

Pervasive problems with EVERYONE in the wedding party! I cannot believe the issues we had. Every tux was wrong from the fit to the type/color of tie. My 8-year old sons were measured (accurately) out of town for tuxes and when we tried them on they literally were an inch below their knees!! Neither waist fit and needed to go up one size on both. We tried on the shirt for one of my sons and were told it was too big so we went with a smaller size. I did not realize that meant a much smaller neck as well. He was unable to button the neck even with the extender! This was something the salesperson should have checked when ensuring the proper fit!!! When we went to to get replacements (the DAY of the wedding) there was another man in the store with his son who said he showed up to have the photos taken and his son's pants were also just below the knee. He said several of the groomsmen in that wedding had issues as well. I felt very bad for my cousin and her husband. They did not need these worries on their wedding day. I don't know how you stay in business, especially one that caters to such an important day, with the vast problems I saw in one weekend. I am from out of town and missed spending time with family because I had to take 2 hours out of my day to replace the pants, etc. DO NOT RENT HERE! I spent $147 on two tuxes and couldn't be unhappier with what we got!! read more

My son rented a tux from this place (Polaris Mall - Columbus, OH). He went to try it on the day before prom. It was the wrong tux label (ordered Ralph Lauren and it was something else) and it was the wrong size. They offered to to a rush order but we opted to go to Men's Wearhouse instead. American Commodore charged us $40 for screwing up our order and forcing us to pay a $20 rush fee at Men's Wearhouse. I made numerous attempts to get my $40 refunded but the regional manager does not answer phone calls. Horrible customer service. I guess if everything goes perfectly with your order, you will be fine. If you need any level of customer service, you may be screwed going with American Commodore. They hide behind voicemail and don't return calls. They hope you just give up. I got my money refunded through MasterCard. read more

My experience at American Commodore Tuxedo on Mayfield Rd, was awesome. When I first arrive I was greeted by a well dressed young man by the name of Graham. I'm sort of a picky person and asks lot of question lol. This young man answered every concern I had and was very patient. He measured my son for his tuxedo and let him try it on as well. Needless to say, I loved everything that Ghaham showed us. Before I end, There was a young lady by the name of Makayla (I hope that's her name smh) who was just as nice. Horrible. My mom got married on 9/2 out of 5 groomsmen 2 of the orders were not correct! I paid for shoe and shirt rental for my son, however we discovered the day of wedding, actually a hour before the wedding that there were no shoes or shirt in the bag.. when the issue was addressed with management she was very nonchalant about the issue. Said she had to speak with district manager to see what could be done and she would call me back in a half hour.. however the half hour has turned into a whole two days! The staff in very young and unprofessional. My sister had questions about my brother in laws rental of course no one was helpful. (He was one of 2 who order was incomplete) they didn't give him a shirt either. My suggestion to anyone is to seek tuxedo rental elsewhere before going here. Make this your LAST option. read more

Out of the 8 Tuxs we needed for our wedding only 4 were correct. The groomsman was not able to get the correct tux until 2 hours before the wedding. They were all miss measured abd caused a lot of stress for the wedding. read more

I will never purchase another item from this business. They are very deceptive in their business practice. I went in to get a dress for my son's wedding. I saw I dress I really like on a mannequin. The dress was not in my size. The staff took my measurement and then tried another dress on me that was suppose to be similar to the dress I was ordering. The dress I tried on had a back to it. so what happen when I got my beautiful dress back not only did it fall off me literally but this dress had no back at all. The dress was so low cut in the back it showed the top of my behind. What 65 year old mother you know would wear anything like that to her son's wedding. When I told the manager about it she replied quite nastily all sales are final. She didn't even look at the dress or let me explain. close to 300 dollars down the drain. Had to spend another 200 for a new dress. Got it on line better looking and it fit. It appears that American Commodore does not stand behind the quality of their work. read more
