In town for a conference and staying at the Hyatt Regency, we stopped in for a quick lunch on a Saturday while waiting for our room to open up. They had an AYCE brunch happening and were pushing it pretty hard, but I wasn't in the mood for breakfast food. I ordered a French Dip sandwich and my wife had a Bliss BLT. The hotel was really nice and had several different food options however their unique lunch menu caught my attention. One thing I really liked was the way it was setup so you could see a nice view of the city from the wi dow which was great. I also like that the bar was completely separate from the sit down area like across the building. The customer service was great and all the staff seemed to be active and tentative. I have eaten twice here in two days and both times the food was much better than I expected from a hotel restaurant. The Thai Salad was incredibly tasty and carefully assembled--and the salmon I added was cooked just right. Then I had a Poke Tuna bowl and it was even better. Fresh ingredients all around. The beer menu is quite diverse and they have many local options. The only star missing is for the prices. . .just a little much. Seasoning was there, they didn't stand out flavor wise, but the presentation was nice. Wouldn't order again. The waitress and manager were nice and was really trying to understand what I was trying to do. Unfortunately they don't have many guests coming in to redeem points often, so that was a barrier. The first night I ordered a chicken Ceasar salad and the chicken was soo dry and plain I wish I would have ordered it with something else. The salad and dressing itself was really great- but would choose a different protein. One of the nights I ordered their burger and fries which actually tasted really good that I had it twice during my stay. One of the nights I wanted to order some calamari to go to bring up to my room and I waited over 35 minutes just for the calamari. At that point I wish they would have just been able to bring it up to my room or offered me something for the long wait. The one thing I did enjoy is that when ordering a drink they do allow you to take it up to your hotel room - but they do not offer room service or delivery to the room which I feel would free up space and not cause people to be irritated as they are waiting just for a to go order. read more

We came here while visiting to use a hotel dining credit. We weren't starving but ordered some food and drinks to use up the credit. I had the poke bowl and my significant other had the pork belly bahn mi. The food was just fine. Nothing wrong with it but overpriced, even with the credit, and a bit lacking in flavor and quality. We had some wine and beer as well. What is interesting about this hotel is that it has several restaurants and many areas for conferences. I had a terrific lunch here today. The rice bowl was prepared nicely and the turnaround on the order was rather swift. I dined with colleagues and our waiter was nice and quite accommodating. One small piece of my chicken looked as if it was incompletely cooked but the remainder and the bowl with the assortment of vegetables was done very well with an abundance of flavor. I've dined here several times in the past when visiting and staying at the Hyatt Regency Chicago and I've always had pretty good meals. The bar here is also pretty good with an assortment of alcoholic drinks and spirits. It's like the best spot in the hotel complex for dinner or lunch, and seating is often open unless they are very busy. read more

I was in Chicago for a conference and since this restaurant was in house, I went there alot. My friend got the Mediterranean bowl and she was really happy about it. I think she appreciated the naan the most. She also had a side order of fries. I ordered the Chicken and Waffles and the Turkey Melt. The turkey melt was tasty. It came with a side of fries and the fries here were super good to me. The waffle was exactly how I like it; crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken was chicken strips so heads up if you aren't feeling that. I can do without the syrup though. It wasn't good in my opinion. I think the portion sizes were good too, although I wasn't able to eat all of any dishes I ordered. The portions weren't overly large. Drinks: They have Pepsi products here. I was able to get grapefruit juice which isn't offered most places I eat at home. It was really good so check that out. They had a variety of drinks. You can also order from the bar to your table. The service was really great every time I went. They were attentive and friendly. I only tip 20 percent when it was really good, I normally tip 15. I tipped 20 percent 2/3 times I ate here. It was super busy for lunch time probably because of the conference. Breakfast was a little bit less busy. But keep in mind that this is inside of the hotel so people who are staying here would probably be the ones eating here. If it's busy, it's probably cause some event is happening. This place was convenient which is why I chose to eat here. The service was great but I know I can get more flavorful food elsewhere. It wasn't bad but I would try other places next time. read more

The American Craft Kitchen and Bar comprises most of the Hyatt Residency's lower floor plan. The 3? Story open concept atrium consists mostly as the back area for breakfast. Dinner area is typically the bar area of some of the breakfast seating. At night they use different colors to light the area. The hotel offers a breakfast buffet, a $35 ish value per person. A club pass will include breakfast. We went Memorial weekend and it was very busy, including a long line. The service took a bit to get to us and then ask what we wanted. If you know you're doing the buffet I would recommend saying it as you sit down. Or say you want coffee or tea. Orange juice is free. The buffet includes tea / coffee, pancakes or waffles, turkey sausage, sausage, salmon lox / cream cheese, bagels, egg station, cereal, oatmeal, bakery items; fruit, and yogurt. This restaurant at the Hyatt Regency is comparable to the restaurants at their properties in other cities in terms of quality, selection, service, and pricing. Hotel restaurants generally are not that good and are merely useful for the convenience of being right there. Hyatt's breakfast buffet is pricey, ranging from $25-35 at various locations. The selection is also similar, proteins (eggs, bacon, sausage, omelettes, etc.), pancakes, French toast, waffles, oatmeal, cereals, muffins, Danish, all the usual breakfast fare in one spot plus a variety of fruits and berries that are usually pretty fresh, etc. The scrambled eggs were a little sub par at this location, but the sausage (chicken & pork) and bacon were cooked well. Not sure what brand they used (Community???) but their coffee was very good and the OJ seemed fresh squeezed (included in buffet price). Our server was an older Indian man and he gave us really excellent service better than other Hyatt properties we have visited. As other reviewers have reported, there are skylights above the noisy restaurant that are peasant. The hotel and restaurant are upscale and so it is a nice dining experience. Other reviewers report their lunch and dinner are not great and as there are better restaurants within walking distance, but only 1 really good breakfast place (Eggy), then we would recommend only eating here for the breakfast buffet or for necessary travel convenience for lunch or dinner. Overall, we would come back for breakfast when not too rushed to go elsewhere for a better value and quality of food, but you can't beat the buffet selection. read more

Some of the best salmon I've had, and their bakery items (bagels, croissants, muffins) were so fresh. The servers are very attentive and make sure you've got all your condiments, and water and coffee refilled. Andre was our server a couple days and he's just the nicest! Even though it's auto gratuity (just 15%), they still went above and beyond. All their fruits, hot food trays, and beverages were organised nicely. Every day they have fresh juices, like carrot & ginger, or kale, apple & celery. It also has nice lighting and they have a lot of seating so we were able to get in and eat right away. This is a solid hotel lobby restaurant in Chicago. They have a nice breakfast buffet with all of the standard choices. Not Vegas-like, but adequate in terms of size, quality and selection. Not often you see that much fresh lox on display. They offer both the buffet and regular waiter service during the morning rush. They serve a conventional lunch and dinner, as well and I had a good Chicago dog and fries on my last day. Pricey, but on par for downtown hotels. read more

An easy, breezy Wednesday morning made this the best breakfast experience we had in our 5 days in Chicago! American Kitchen is part of our hotel (Hyatt Regency, albeit in a separate tower) so it made for a quick stroll over on the Sky bridge. We came a little before 9am and they were already in service with plenty of open tables under a bright and comfortably modern Atrium. Before the waiter could pour us coffee and orange juice, we let him know that we'd be ordering off the menu, not eating their $25 buffet. What we did get was plentiful and delicious: - 2 coffees and a pulpy OJ (each drink nearly a ghastly $5) - Bowl of fruits which were TOTALLY worth $5.25. Each fruit was amazingly fresh and juicy, especially the green grapes! The entire bowl was a surprising seasonal treat as Spring transitions into Summer... ... As were the vegetables in our Beyond Meat Skillet. The chopped asparagus, zucchini, and squash were weirdly wonderful! So crisp and well-seasoned that I didn't need to add any salt or sauce to enjoy them. The skillets come with a generous portion of hash browns and a side of toast. - By the end, none of us had any room left to finish the 3rd piece of big sister's kids chocolate chip pancake plate (~ $8). The service was as great as the food and the atmosphere. They let us linger and enjoy our coffees for a few minutes after clearing our plates, and they were just so friendly and efficient all around. read more

I live in the South and lobster rolls come either hot with butter or cold in a mayonnaise type dressing. I made the mistake of not asking and the lobster roll I ordered was the latter. I am not a fan of a lot of sauce and "wetness". This lobster roll was dripping in sauce and was EXTREMELY wet. The bread was soggy and this was just a mess. The salad was literally salad greens, tomato and carrots. Not a lot to it. While staying at the Hyatt Regency we decided to try American Craft Kitchen & Bar's breakfast buffet. They have a omelette station and a wide variety of breakfast fare. The service was 5 stars (our waiter was genuinely friendly and welcoming) and the food was higher quality than most hotel breakfast spots I've been to. Prices were $24.99 for adults on the Sunday morning - a little steep but not out of line with everything else downtown. Overall it was a good meal. Don't expect the food to knock your socks off, but the service is great and it is obviously convenient for those staying at the hotel. read more

This restaurant is located in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency. It's all open air and has very good lighting. Since we had Regency Club access, our breakfast buffet was comped. Let me say that our server was great and attentive. That's probably the only good thing I can say about this place. The buffet has hot dishes and pastries, but it wasn't that great as far as taste goes. If I had to pay $28.50 for it, I wouldn't be very happy about it. But since it was comped, I can't complain. I can't comment on their regular menu items, so I'm hoping that's better since it's cooked fresh to order. The service was a bit slow in getting to us and taking our order (you seat yourself and she acknowledged us as we sat down but took awhile to come get our order). After the waitress finally got around to us, she became pleasant to deal with and did a solid job. I had the fish and chips. The food was good albeit needed more seasoning on both. The crust of the fish was seasoned but the flaky inside was not. The fries had no salt, although truth be told I need less salt in my life anyway. The bourbon orange drink was quite good. What a pleasant surprise. Located inside the Hyatt Regency Chicago, this gem has a limited menu that is focused on elevating traditional standards. Unusual for a hotel eatery. My friendly server, Judy made three recommendations. I landed on spaghetti and meatball. Weird, right? But boy! Fresh, tasty al dente pasta perfectly cooked topped with a 100% meat ball- no fillers. One piece of yummy garlic bread topped this full-flavored, delicious dish. Truly cooked to order. So, be patient. The serving was enough for a dinner with about 1/2 left over for a cold Italian breakfast. Restaurant ambiance was dark but comfortable. Full bar, too. It was especially awesome to be able to watch two tvs - each one playing a separate Sweet 16 March madness basketball game. What's not to love?!! Would I return? They were quick to ignore you, and slow to provide service. I had to ask for water at least twice before getting any. And asking for the check took three times and 25 minutes later. I ate breakfast several times, going with the A LA MEXICANA Skillet, and lunch daily due to a hotel discount on the food, trying the pulled pork sandwich, the pimento cheeseburger, and my absolute favorite, the 2 massive Chicago Dogs. Service was excellent, we would ask to be seated in Lucy's section if she was working. An absolutely wonderful and enjoyable lady! The restaurant is open air inside the atrium of the building, so depending on where you sit, the people watching experience is a lot of fun. read more

I ate here for lunch during a Summer convention with a few peers. The restaurant is nestled inside the Hyatt Regency Chicago. It looks very clean, contemporary, and modern on the inside. Service was a little delayed due to the mass amount of people attending the convention. One of our party members tried to find out what the soup of the day was and never really got a clear answer. Most of us got a pricey cheeseburger on a brioche bun. Despite the upscale ingredients and custom sauce, this cheeseburger was not fantastic or memorable. This spot is located downstairs of the Hyatt Regency. Since we were nearby, we stopped in for lunch. It's a steady crowd and they stay busy. They're even open for breakfast. My son ordered the kids grilled cheese which was huge. It's double layered, so there are 3 pieces of bread and a ton of cheese. He loved it, but probably half a sandwich is plenty! My other son and I shared one of the bowls. Teriyaki salmon and edamame bowl, but we subbed for teriyaki tofu. It was light, delicious and the rice was cooked perfectly. I could've done without so much lettuce, though. My husband loved his burger and said the fries were extra crispy. Service was good, but a little slow in the beginning. Stayed at the hotel for three nights and visited the buffet on the last morning that we were there for breakfast. They had an omelet bar, which was the best part. Made quickly and in front of you. Also had a hot line of food that I picked and chose from, but the omelet was the star of the show. Coffee was good too.
