When we came from the bathroom our bags and table was cleared. We had not finished our alcohol beverages. We were still sipping on our drinks. The Cheesecake Factory has been a staple in my life since high school. I recently visited The Cheesecake Factory to take advantage of the happy hour specials. This location has a designated area for happy hour. It's a spacious area that includes a mix of bar seating, high top tables, and regular tables. It was slightly confusing where to sit when you get to the designated space. The hostess at the restaurant entrance points you to the happy hour area with the expectation of another person in the section to sit you. But the staff in the section ignored me for 15 mins to the point that I sat anywhere in the section and got scolded by a waitress. But otherwise the staff were friendly and welcoming. They have quite a few options on the happy hour menu. I ordered the happy hour burger which was solid. I added the fries to even out the meal but it was well worth the money. I was able to get two meals out of my order. I also got to try the elote appetizer which was delicious. I could see myself ordering that again in the future. The biggest thing I noticed is the cheesecake slices have gotten much smaller. There was once a time when the slice would sit upright and almost touch each side of the slice box but now it's gotten so small they have to lay the slice on the side. They have a huge selection of things to choose from which made it hard to decide on what to order. This Cheesecake Factory is located off the magnificent mile which makes it super convenient to get to. The interior design of this Cheesecake Factory kind of reminded me of Willy Wonka. They brought us a brown bread roll and a white sourdough-style baguette with butter on the side as we were deciding on what to order. I ended up ordering the pickle fries which came with a spicy ranch. The ranch was so good but the pickle fries were just ok. They were mini pickle spears with a breaded coating. For my entree I ordered the egg roll sampler which included Avocado Eggrolls, Tex-Mex Eggrolls, Cheeseburger Spring Rolls, and Chicken Taquitos. That was super tasty! I'm glad I ordered that as I was indecisive as to what egg roll to order. They were all so tasty in their own way so it was hard to decide on my favorite but I liked the chicken taquitos the best. My friend ordered a skinnylicious beet salad that she said was good and the avocado egg rolls. That was a big portion so she was able to take some leftovers home. We got in line for togo cheesecake slices (avoiding the very long line for a table)... we put in our order and waited about 15 minutes for our slices. We made sure to grab several forks as we were sharing a couple different flavors. I believe we grabbed a key lime pie, a Godiva Chocolate and a cookie dough something. Rarely go here, as it's such a tourist trap. But anytime I had people visiting me in Chicago we'd make a visit per their request. Lines are way too long. With a reservation you still end up waiting way longer, every time. Not enough space to sit in the waiting area. However the service is nice. Unfortunately the menu is about 20 pages, way too long. Which means because it's such a huge menu they can't specialize in anything.... So everything is very mediocre. Cheesecake is good, but again, why have 30 different flavors. It's just too much. Items can be on the expensive side depending what entree your looking at 20+ but there are slightly cheaper items from the lunch specials (available until 5) and happy hour items (only at the bar). Service is kind and friendly. Atmosphere somewhat romantic and family friendly. Outdoor patio is dog friendly. It is located below street level, so if you need to use an elevator you have to enter from inside the skyscraper. The only wish I have is if there allowed happy hour throughout the restaurant and not only the bar. I just don't know how they can make all these different dishes from a booklet of a million recipes. So you can eat what your heart desires that day and then tap it off with an amazing dessert. The prices for the cheesecakes have gotten higher around $13 a slice, but they are still very good and the whipped cream is always fresh and lovely. Don't drive here unless you are willing to pay for a garage or street parking where you have to pay on the ParkChicago mobile app for at least five dollars an hour. Update: I took Cheesecake Factory Guest services up on their offer to give feedback from my experience. I did that on 1/8/2026 and still have not heard back on 1/20/2026. The form said I should hear back within 2-3 business days. Additional update: Cheesecake Factory Guest Relations did respond on 1/26/2026 (after my second Yelp review). I shared the date and time of day we were at the restaurant and the general meal we had (salad, entree, 2 bourbon cocktails). They assured me this was being handled with the staff at the restaurant. Unfortunately, that doesn't do me as the customer any good as I don't plan to return and lost an unreasonable amount of time and money dining there on a special day. This was my first time ever visiting a Cheesecake Factory and I was very excited. We walked in with no reservation and it was a bit of a wait. The wait room was chaotic and it's because people don't realize that there is seating for people waiting down the hall. We were sat and ordered fried calamari and wontons as an appetizer. The wontons were hands down my favorite. They taste like they're made with real crab and not imitation and they're so flavorful. The calamari was just alright. They have excessive breading and I would not get them again. For our entrees we got the steak fritte and the crispy chicken costoletta. The steak was cooked perfectly, however, it has a bordelaise on top and it's delicious! The fries were nice and crispy. The chicken was just okay. The breading was a little crispier and tasted so. The lemon sauce that the food was played over was so delicious. I wish it came with more of it. The mashed potatoes were so good! They were very flavorful and made just how I like them, with the skin and a little chunky. We had a raspberry cheesecake for desert and it was the most amazing cheesecake I have tried. Now the service, it could be better. We had our appetizers out with no napkins, we didn't even get the cloth dinner napkin. We had to ask 3 times before we received napkins.The server really didn't come by his tables as much but was friendly when he did. We didn't get a steak knife with the dinner and it was a while before we did get one, plus they had picked up all the silverware with the appetizers when dinner got there so we had to wait for that too. Adding more context: Before posting this review, I contacted The Cheesecake Factory through its online complaint form five separate times and never received a response. After I posted this review on Yelp, they replied with a generic message telling me to submit my complaint through the same form I had already used five times. It appears they're more interested in looking responsive publicly than actually addressing customer concerns. Since the lack of response has continued, I'm adding my original review below for context. If you're going to respond again, please don't send the same generic message directing me to the complaint form, I have already done that repeatedly.. ------------------------------------ Review: This was one of the worst carryout experiences I've ever had. I waited 48 minutes for an order of orange chicken and a Coke, and not a single person communicated that there was a delay. I had to ask about my order twice. The first employee told me it would be "5 more minutes." Ten minutes later, I asked again, and another employee said he was going to check on it. After another 10 minutes of waiting, a manager finally came out with my food and claimed the kitchen was "backed up." That explanation made absolutely no sense because while I was waiting, multiple customers who ordered after me received their food within minutes. It was obvious my order had been forgotten. The most disappointing part wasn't even the wait, it was the lack of accountability. Instead of admitting what happened, I was given an excuse that didn't match what I had just watched unfold. There was no apology (AT ALL), no effort to make the situation right, and no compensation after wasting nearly an hour of my time for one entrée and a drink. Mistakes happen, but dishonesty, poor communication, and zero accountability are unacceptable and disrespectful. Also, I asked for only brown bread and received only white bread...exactly the kind of mistake you'd expect when an order has been forgotten and then rushed together at the last minute. Overall, this was a horrible experience. I hope management takes customer service more seriously than they did today, or at the very least, comes up with a better explanation than claiming the kitchen was "backed up" when customers who ordered after me were receiving their food without issue. We Haven't been to a Cheesecake Factory since 2016 and to be completely honest, it was the exact same minus the older decor. The service was nice but the price of what it was wasn't great. Service was a little slow (sitting at the bar), but the bartender was overwhelmed. They needed two bartenders...so it wasn't her fault. The Chicken Taquitos were good, but I expect twice the portion size for the price. Overall, nothing spectacular for the price. I would go elsewhere. Hershey's Chocolate Bar Cheesecake: The Cheesecake Factory's cheesecakes are one of my favorite desserts. I've tried most of the flavors that I intend to, as a few just don't appeal to me (mostly the fruity ones, yuck!). It's a slow process since I like returning to my favorites rather than risk trying a new one every time I go. Plus, they offer over 30 varieties. The Hershey's Chocolate Bar Cheesecake is listed as "Hershey's Cheesecake between moist chocolate cake with creamy chocolate frosting and chocolate chips". Why has it taken me over 10 years since my first visit to the Cheesecake Factory to try this one? First, it's somewhat similar to one of my favorites, the 30th Anniversary Cheesecake. Second, I loathe dark chocolate, and I was afraid this piece might be too bitter based off other reviews. If you're like me and prefer milk chocolate, don't be timid about trying this one. It's a mix of both milk and dark chocolate flavors and it's so sweet that you won't mind the dark aspect. The actual Hershey's cheesecake portion is surprisingly light, almost like a mousse. You won't get much if any cream cheese flavor and I can't say it reminded me of the classic Hershey taste, but it was delicious. As for the chocolate cake, it was perfectly moist as described. A little darker than the cheesecake, but not too dark. Topping the slice is a creamy and sweet chocolate frosting. Where a hint of bitterness creeps in is the semi-sweet chocolate chips. It works to balance things out though and I like how it contributes a different texture to the mix as the chips are hard, and the rest of the slice is soft as butter. Included is The Factory's fresh whipped cream with a Hershey's version of an oversized M&M (M&Ms are made by Mars and this one also obviously says Hershey). Pairing this with an ice-cold glass of milk and steaming cup of mocha coffee worked nicely.
