My niece needed a dentist, so my brother attempted to get her set up at this place. He'd just gotten new insurance, so only had policy number and not the card. The lady proceeded to tell my niece, where is your mom, she should be doing this because women are smarter. Then proceeded to tell my niece how pretty my she was, and that she must take after her mother. When told mother wasn't in the picture, she told my niece, you should get her back. This is so out of line and appalling to say to a teenage girl in front of her Dad, not to mention that my nieces mother DIED two years ago, so this was very upsetting all around. All they wanted was dental care and they were treated this way. Blows my mind. read more

Dr Murph is amazing! We were driving down for our daughter's college graduation and my crown fell off. It was around 3:15 when I called American Dental. Dr Murph answered the phone and said they were closed for the day but he was doing paperwork and would wait until I arrived at nearly 5. He made the process quick and easy and has the friendliest personality. We were in and out in no time and heading to check into our Airbnb. When/if our daughter, who is staying in the area after graduation, needs a dentist he is the one we will recommend she see. We can't recommend American Dental enough!! read more

Excellent experience with Dr. Murph! I I had an emergency Friday night and I was able to get an appointment the next day, Saturday, and be treated for root-canal right away, taking care of a terrible pain. Dr. Murph is a kind, caring man My tooth broke off on a Saturday and was very painful Dr. Murph pulled the tooth and placed an implant on area. Today, I returned to get a crown on the implant. If I could give a zero I would. This has got to be the worst and most unprofessional dental place in the world. The idiot that answers the phone (Jenny) is what she said her name is has to be the rudest person on the face of this earth. She told me what your daughter wants me to do this for free... no one ever said that, then she said your daughter doesn't have any money, I asked her if she knew my daughter and she told me no so i asked her how she knew what my daughter had and the idiot couldn't answer.... she told me to pay for it... The lady will hang up on you and will cuss at you on the phone... I asked to speak with the manager or owner and she said I am... If you like living in the backwards south where they still don't floss or know how to check for cavities, make fun of names that have more than one syllable required, oh and you are ok to get your check reimbursed to you a month after paying 300+$ with 40$ copay, this is the place for you! The lady at the front desk was very rude. y'all need better service. I was confused about my insurance because with my insurance I was told I get dental cleanings for free. the lady kept saying I had to pay 330 dollars. when i told her I was taking my service somewhere else she said " sorry you don't have the money" I said i do have the money I just never heard of paying 330 dollars for a cleaning with I have very good insurance. she proceeded to be rude and I am a black woman and there was a man in front who she treated very nice. I will never come here again as long as she's in that role. hire new people !! she's very outdated and evil. read more

Dr James Tommy Murph is truly one of the most awfully rude, insulting people I have ever encountered. He is mean spirited, spiteful, especially if you are a woman and question him. The only thing he likes you for is your money. He has zero compassion and professionalism. Avoid his business. Don't believe me. Go read the comments about his dental office in Google. I am writing another review to urge anyone -STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The more I think about my experience here the more I realize what demented crooks they really are. Back to my first appointment and having to PAY IN FULL UP FRONT for a process that may take over 5 - 6 months, that was over $3k! This quack then had the BALLS to tell me he won't pay the state of South Carolina's $50 fee to electronically send in prescriptions! HE JUST GOT OVER $3,000 and HE WON'T PAY THAT FEE! Rather, in extreme and unnecessary pain I had to take my prescriptions to my pharmacy and wait. This guy is a QUACK by very definition. When I went to my new dentist and had them contact these fools for my x-rays, they refused to send electronic copies and would only release to me for $25 -because the State of South Carolina allows them to charge it! AGAIN PEOPLE -do not let these people anywhere near your mouth because any interaction with them will be HORRIBLE and you will have no reason to be smiling!! And you better believe if they continue to be so crappy to deal with, I am going to find a way to get my money back from these pieces of crap! read more

I Called Dr. Tommy Murph because of tooth pain. I am in Conway only 5 months of the year and didn't have a dentist. They took me right in. I already sort of knew that I needed three implants, a cleaning and at least one filling. So far I have completed step one of three implants along with extracting the roots, a cleaning and exam. Now the bones and gums have to heal which is about 4 months before getting my new teeth. Dr. Murph and his staff are some of the most understanding and compassionate people I have ever met. The office is clean and neat and almost brand new. I almost forgot to mention that the cost of my three implants are about 1/2 the cost as they would be in New York.. This is why I give him a five star review. read more

Dr tommy is the rudest man, he's entitled he snatched the paper out my hand when i said i only have medicaid and said " We only take cash " and him and his staff and the people who were there laughed as i walked out. I am basing my rating as to the way my wife was treated when making a first appt. First of all the woman sounded kind of grumpy according to my wife, only wanted her name and phone number. Usually a professional office will want to know your insurance and address. After thinking about it I told my wife to just cancel. Besides the initial 1 star rating we saw should have sent up a red flag. When she called to cancel the same woman answered, didn't ask if she wanted to reschedule, she just said if you decide to come in just walk in, don't call because she said my wife would be a risk. I had to get one of my pre-molars surgically extracted yesterday, and I chose this dentist. Why? I called at 10:30pm thinking that I would just leave a message on their machine to ask someone to call me in the morning for pricing. The dentist answered and was super nice about it. Let me be the first to say that this was the most pleasant extraction I have ever had. Dr. James "Tommy" Murph was so personable, friendly, comforting and funny. His good mood was infectious. Not only was the extraction pain AND swelling free, but I barely even feel any soreness today. He talked me through the entire thing and was extremely confident in his work. He did not over charge me or try to do anything that was unnecessary, as other dentists in the past have. I cannot stress how happy I am that I went here. Please do not let the outside of the building scare you away, because I promise that inside that building, it is nothing but diamonds. From the lady at the front desk to the dental assistant to the dentist himself, everyone there was fantastic. I never thought I would say this, but I look forward to getting other teeth extracted here. Haha read more

BEFORE seeing the dentist must pay $245 for consult and x-rays. My husband developed loose tooth - front R side. Told he had pocket of infection under the tooth but given no medication for this. Tooth splinted to adjacent teeth for $300 with no guarantee. Two days later visited another dentist. Told splinting was incorrectly place pulling jaw out of line and never would have worked since tooth was broken off at the gum line - no sign of infection. Tooth removed by oral surgeon and flapper placed. Will have implant at later date. Cost us with American Dental $545 for incorrect treatment and diagnosis. read more
