DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE. SCAMMERS. I came in here to get our car checked out, classic case of scheming car repair shop. Got a firm estimate of $500 for the repairs, brought the car in and left it there. Get a call a couple of hours later that, of course, additional repairs are needed and very noncommittal about amount. Go to pick up the car and they tried to charge is over $700 . They also refused to give us the 20% discount on labor they promised us. And refused to swipe my card , insisting instead on writing down the credit card number which if you know anything about PCI standards is not allowed for merchants. Its not allowed for good reasons because thieves will use your card number for nefarious purposes. End result is we paid more than we were quoted or they would not release the car back to us. Now I leave this bad review, I report them to the relevant agencies, including MasterCard which they're supposed to take according to the terms of their merchant agreement, and of course going to dispute the charge my credit card company, so they don't get away with it. Mobile Auto Repair is sometimes an extremely helpful option for busy people. If I can avoid taking my car out of the parking lot and wiping out at least a couple hours of time getting stupid little things fixed, I'll do it. This was the first time I'd had an occasion to do so; I had a taillight and a rear wiper that needed fixing, as I had gotten a fix-it ticket from the greedhead cops of San Jose. Who wants to leave work to do stuff like that? I checked out AMA Repair and several others through Yelp and chose AMA as they were the closest to my work. Well, this worked out perfectly. Both repairs were straightforward, and I was really only charged the $88 fee to get out there to get these things done. So a logistical headache is gone for a reasonable price, the company makes a fair profit on the labor, and I get to retire this stupid ticket. Win-win all around. I would do this again. I just got an used car my friend gave me. My friend's mechanic said the car had a transmission problem and was really expensive to fix, without even test it. He was going to donate the car, but I really liked this car, and someone told me to bring it to AMA before giving up, So I did! Isa, AMA's ,mechanic in less than half an hour and with a computer, noticed that transmission was perfect and gave me a full diagnosis and estimated. He fixed it and now I am really happy with my car. On top of that they are very nice people, they make you feel comfortable and safe. very important specially if you are a woman, and don't know much about cars, They saved my car, saved me money and saved me time! This place is so great. Back in October, the timing belt broke on our 2004 VW Jetta when my husband was driving home from work. Luckily, we could get AAA to tow it, and I looked on Yelp for the closest place that had pretty good reviews, so I chose AMA. AM I GLAD I DID. The service here is magnificent. Both my husband and I talked to Isa and he walked us through everything. The best part is, everyone there treated me with respect, and being female, I often get treated at repair shops like I don't know anything about cars and it's pretty infuriating. Everyone who talked to me explained every detail of what they were doing. We're taking the car back this month to get more repairs done. I have been going to these guys for about a year now, and I can say that this is my go to shop for all of my car maintenance needs, from a simple oil change to fixing the passenger door that would refuse to open. These guys are great people to work with. They are straight with what's happening with your vehicle, and not once within the time span of one year that I have been going to this shop (at the time of this writing) had they tried to do anything shady that would cost me extra money. I tried calling them a couple times during business hours but no answer. It was an emergency but I lost hope after a few calls. Even their office was closed during business hour. I even drove to their office only to find out they are "by appointment only". How am I going to get an appointment when they wont even answer their phone calls. read more

I work in downtown San Jose and was looking for a place near my office to change a timing belt. When I called AMA they quoted me $250 plus the cost of the belt. Sounded reasonable, so I dropped off my car in the morning. They sent a shuttle over to pick me up from work, and when I got there they told me they finished faster than expected so they only charged me $210. AMA mobile auto repair helped me out of a situation that could of been disasterous. My husband kept telling me that our 1967 car most likely had a blown head gasket, which might have cracked the block? I waited and waited for him to check the engine. I finally decided to stop waiting and called AMA to come to our house and check the engine. They come to your house to work on your cars...how cool is that? Brian showed up and listened to my situation and went to work. Brian went above and beyond what he had too and this is what I call superb customer service. He was able to determine that in fact we did not have a blown head gasket...he did it without taking things apart...my husband would have made a mess of it, and who knows how long it would take him to put it back together....thank you AMA for sending out Brian...he's a good guy! read more

I visited this shop yesterday because my breaks were worn down to the metal and I needed them done on a budget. I called and spoke with the Manager by the name of Isa and he gave me a quote over the phone which was extremely reasonable. I drove over to their shop and Isa already had the brakes delivered there for me from the time right after I hung up with him. When I arrived they started working on my car right away and within an hour my car was ready to go and for the right price. I need to say that this is the first shop that has NOT tried to sell me on more repairs I really didn't need. I felt Isa and hi staff were honest an straight forward with me and I definitely will be going back to get work done on my cars there, I will also be recommending AMA to my friends and family. read more

I was looking for a shop as my vehicle had failed the smog test the previous day. I was looking for a particular repair shop and when I got there it was Sat afternoon and it was closed. I noticed that there was another shop (AMA Repair) next door that was open and I walked in and ask the mechanic to take a look at my car. Brian took a look and told me what was wrong with my exhaust system. I also asked him to change my oil. Mike, another friendly mechanic in the shop, drained my oil as Brian got to work on my leaking exhaust system. Mike noticed that my rear passenger tire was compromised as there was a bulge on the side wall and he told me it was unsafe to drive with that tire. He had an old tire he was able to use to replace my existing tire. In a couple of hours, Brian fixed the exhaust issue, my tire was replaced, my brakes were checked and oil change completed. I paid the reasonable charge and left the store to proceed to the smog check station to be retested (which I successfully passed.) The exhaust system repair also took care of a strange revving sound that my engine had been making for the last 4 months or so. I'm delighted with the great service I received here from Brian and Mike and recommend them to anybody that needs help with their vehicle. read more

I will give them this they have good customer service. I took my car in because my transmission was clearly shot. They lifted it and looked for every possible flaw and tried quoting me for over 2k like I'm some fish. I told them to just focus on the transmission first it started out as 4th gear repair. That was their educated guess but after sending it to a third party for a repair (which I was unaware of) I needed a rebuild. First off how do I know this guy they sent it off to is even ASE certified? This took one week and cost me $1800. Fast forward 2 weeks the transmission is slipping in every gear. I picked up a second job to cover the repair I expected the same amount of hard work on my car that I put into working two jobs and preparing to leave to the marines. The transmission is covered under warranty and has been in the shop for two weeks now it took them a week just to pull out the tranny I call today on the second week the transmission is not done yet to top it off they speak to me with such nonchalance about THEIR mistake. These guys should be apologizing for being slackers and not getting it done right the first place. Maybe they are good for other work but if you have transmission issues skip these guys. They are making my last four months as a civilian miserable and I have people to see and training to get done before I leave. I'm very displeased by their services. read more
