Kris did an amazing job with my tire swap. I had a gash in my tire from a curb that jumped out at me and he gave me the proper recommendation for a tire change. He ordered the tire right away and had it fixed under an hour. Along with that, he gave me a recommendation for someone to fix my rim bc I also scrapped that lol, so he gave me a suggestion on who he trusts to do that. changing my cabin air filter cost me $110... ($49.99 for the filter and $60 labor) Same filter can be found on amazon for $16-18 a piece. Changing the filter myselft took about 3 minutes. Previous owner charged me $26 for the filter just an year ago. I only had 5000 miles on that old filter, not sure why it needed to be replaced. Just found out the filter was installed with air flow pointing up, supposed to be down. :( Updated: (response to owner's comments) 1. Filter installed was Denso 453-2026 filter, it's printed on the receipt. On Denso's own website, it's $14.85. I was charged $49.99. 2. My car has only been serviced at BayCity. The air flow arrow was pointing upwards instead of downwards. I just found that out yesterday when I checked it the first time ever. Again, no one else touched my car but baycity. It's sad you refused to admit your own mistake. 3. Installation was done last year so new tax was not a factor IMO. read more

I took my car in for an oil and filter change on Saturday. They also did a quick check of the car's other subsystems-- brakes, etc. Recommended getting my air filters replaced. Kris showed them to me. They were definitely dirty. Kris also said the sparkplugs needed replacing. We talked about my battery, and Kris' advice was in sync with what I had heard from AAA. We've taken our 2020 Honda Civic over to Bay City a few times over the past year for a few different jobs. We had work done to replace the evaporator for the AC system and had the brakes replaced. I remember that Jim helped replace my turn signal because I couldn't! And he didn't charge me for it and his bulb was cheaper than O'Reilly's. I called around different dealerships around my area to see how much a transmission fluid change would be. Let's just say the cheapest I was quoted was $200. Now my car uses ATF Type 3.x, if anyone knows about cars that's about $35-$45 a quart. Jim charged me significantly less to get the job done. I guess he gets a pretty big discount like the dealerships for this stuff, but an insanely cheap price. Been going to Jim for well over 10yrs and he will continue to earn my business. His shop is small and the wait time can be long but your car is in good hands with an honest mechanic. The shop has that old school feel right down to the brown colored carpet lol. I went in here for an oil leak on my 92 Lexus. They did what they said they were going to do which was replace the valve cover gasket. It was cheaper than other shops but here is the problem. They failed to tell me about the many other leaks around the engine which were right next to the valve cover ( a cam plug) and the other valve cover that was leaking. The oil filter was barely hand tight so oil was dumping onto my exhaust. So when I drove off from this shop I was still smoking oil and smelling it in the car. I thought it would just need to burn off. After a week I took it to another shop off Curtner and 87 (Eurohaus Motors) they actually fixed all my oil leak issues for a great price! I don't think Bay City Automotive used the "valve cover gasket kit" that comes from the part dealer because they did not even replace the little grommets that create a seal between the bolts and the valve cover as well as some other little parts that should be replaced when doing the valve cover. I just feel like it would have been nice for this shop to take it to the next level and tell me there were some other issues that should be addressed. I expect a mechanic to be like a good doctor for my car and not just throw a band aid on a ruptured aorta. There was no additional information or warning that I may still experience leaks if I do not address the other obvious leaks. read more

have been going to Bay City for quite a while always utilizing their major services package on my '97 Acura Integra, and boy do they rock! They have never tried to take me to the bank, and are VERY reasonable on their prices, especially when other places want to make you pay sometimes double for less work. My Integra just reached 120K miles, so they will be seeing me in the very near future.
