Karen has helped me several times over the years and has always been upfront about what services were actually necessary -- and what wasn't. It's refreshing to work with a company that doesn't try to upsell or waste your money on treatments you don't need. Their services are affordable, reliable, and effective. During the construction phase of our ADU, we experienced a major increase in rodent activity due to debris and materials sitting around for months. Unfortunately, it turned into a full infestation. American Pest Control Services stepped in and completely handled the problem. They truly kicked it in the butt -- and we've had no rodent issues since. Another huge plus for us is that the rodent control methods and products they used were pet-friendly and environmentally conscious. As a pet owner, that was extremely important to me. I appreciate that they took the time to use solutions that helped protect our pets while still effectively solving the issue. Now that construction is finally finished, we no longer need rodent services, but we continue to use them for our quarterly maintenance and annual flea spray treatments because of the great experience we've had with them. I called American Pest Control because I was out of town and had a friend housesitting, meanwhile a wasp colony decided to emerge. Unfortunately my dog is highly allergic to wasps, and I wasn't going to ask the person house/dog sitting to go and exterminate for us so I called American Pest Control. They were very quick to have an appointment, it was next day, with a reasonable time frame. House sitter said they showed up, found the wasp nest and destroyed the wasps. However I'm a little concerned and feeling swindled by the terms of "wasp removal". I used the phrase "wasp removal" several times over the phone, as did the person answering my questions. At no point was "extermination only" or anything similar used. Apparently when speaking about wasp removal, to American Pest Control, it's synonymous with "extermination", as no wasps or nests were removed. Basically, I paid $150 for someone to show up with a can of Raid, and spray the wasps. The housesitter ended up removing the nest and "about 28" wasps that were left on the ground. I'm glad nobody ended up walking outside barefoot. I could have saved $150 and had her do that herself. Oh well. At least the wasps weren't around long enough to continue multiplying. AVOID AT ALL COST I honestly have nothing good to say about this company. I'm not sure if the employees are new, still in training, or if they just have amnesia, but every time I speak with Karen I get a completely different answer depending on the day and her mood. We have a rodent issue at our home and they are not on top of it. When I first asked about the bait stations, I was told they "just stay there" and nothing needs to be done. Then a month later, Karen told me they're supposed to be serviced monthly, yet mine sat untouched from May until September. The biggest frustration is the constant contradictions about rodent pickup. Some days Karen says they do pick up the dead rodents, other days she says it's "not their responsibility." After lots of back and forth, I was told they do arrange pickup for the dead rodents, and eventually someone did come out. Then when a rat died over the weekend, Karen told me on Monday, "You should've called the emergency line, we could have arranged pickup." We had already handled it ourselves because we didn't want it sitting there for days. I called yesterday morning about two more rats, she didn't even respond until today just to tell me, "We don't pick up the rodents. " Why is there so much back and forth on this? One day it's yes, the next day it's no. The amount of pushback and contradictions is unreal. This company is inconsistent, unreliable, and by far the worst pest control service I've ever dealt with. On top of that, I've had dead rats sitting right in front of my doorstep. So what exactly am I paying for here? They drop bait stations, but I'm the one stuck picking up the rodents. If I have to do the work myself, I might as well have bought the stations and handled it without them. Useless. read more

Before we purchased our new home, I contacted American Pest Control for a termite inspection. Our inspector was Kopa - he was friendly and did a thorough job inspecting the property. Some spots on the exterior were visibly damaged from termites (hello fascia I'm talking to you!) and Kopa climbed in the attic to have a look. Luckily the termite damage was just superficial, and I ended up hiring APC to do the remediation after we closed escrow. Fortunately we didn't have to tent - just a few spot treatments and a kind of Borax spray in the attic to kill termites on contact in case they ever do try to break in. Willie did a great job getting the treatments taken care of. I didn't go with APC on the wood replacement - because I opted instead to get the whole place repainted anyway, and had Best Coat Painting do all the wood replacement. So our new home also has a carport that had been left in disrepair by the previous homeowners. The attached shed doors had been left open for quite some time - and was full of mice and rat refuse. Willie came out multiple times to set traps (we didn't catch any) and he did some work to plug any and all potential mouse access points. He also put some rat traps in the attic in our house - it looks like they got in perhaps some years ago. Willie also recovered our vents on the roof. Via our painters, we also replaced the shed doors and an electrical beam leading from the carport to the house and things seemed to be looking better. But for some reason the droppings persisted! Willie's Supervisor Joshua came over with him and they poured over our carport for the umpteenth time. Willie did catch a gecko that scurried away when we opened the door and I moved the little gecko outside. Everything about the carport seemed sealed tight as a drum! Joshua suggested because the doors had been left open so long the mice were just in the habit of coming back. So we just had to keep at it and eventually they'd stop coming around. Now, we don't store any food or anything remotely interesting out there. Just some old paint cans, some boxes with lights, etc. But the droppings kept persisting, which was really strange. Another option was to do bait boxes, but our carport is in an open alley - many neighbors have cats, there's hawks and owls around, and I didn't want to risk another animal eating a contaminated rodent. After work today, I decided to give the carport another deep clean. And SWEET JESUS! I realized we have a lizard love shack going on! There's eggs hidden all over the place! In boxes, in the corners, behind paint cans, and in places where the wood framing was bad. I tried to save as many eggs as I could and relocate them to be hidden in the ivy where the lizards hang out during the day. I googled the droppings - lizard droppings do look like mice droppings - but have a little white dot on the end! Which these do! UGH! APC's rodent abatement was solid - but who knew it was a lizard/gecko issue?!! I love lizards and appreciate all they do for bug control. But there's just too many out there at this point. Anyone know lizard's distaste for a particular type of music or cologne? I need to get these outta here! Overall I was really impressed with the friendliness, professionalism, kindness and warmth from everyone at APC. Kopa, Willie, Joshua, and Nancy and Victoria on the phones were all stellar. Now I just need to figure out what to do about the lizard love shack! Update - Moving up to 5 stars! Joshua is on vacation with family in town this week, but saw my review and had Victoria call me to ask what they could do! Normally APC doesn't handle lizards but shared they'd be happy to help me get this sorted out. Right now I'm going to try a few things on my own to deter the lizards from shacking up in my shed, but really appreciate this top-notch customer service! read more

If i could give a zero rating, i would. We had rodents that we needed to get rid of. So we paid $245. For a man ( si called expert) to take care of the problem. American Pest control was prompt to schedule an appointment a d follow up appointments. But this is what our $245 paid for: 1) a review of the property to show us areas where rodents could be getting in the attic. This was helpful. 2) placement of sticky paper in several locations (5 Max). You can buy your sticky paper for $10. From Home depot and save yourself the trouble. We never did get a rodent from the paper! 3) a technician who spent the whole time talking himself up and how much he knows and speaking in a condescending tone. 4) 4-5 follow up visits to look at the sticky paper to see if we got a mouse. After the last visit and us sealing of cracks where mice could get in , I could still hear mice in the attic. Needless to say, we will never use this company again. read more

Went with this company for monthly service at my rental property because I had a good experience during the termite tenting. Nancy was the best! Unfortunately, Nancy doesn't deal with bug spraying (that's a different department), so I had to deal with other people. Had to call them back out several times because spiders weren't disappearing. The spiders were alive and thriving inside the property. A lady from the company told my tenant we needed to seal any cracks around doors and windows so the spiders wouldn't come in. Hilarious! Lady, if I could prevent spiders from coming in, I wouldn't need you. The whole point of spraying is to kill them before or after they enter. I use another pest control company for my home and I see dead bugs around, but never alive. They wanted to charge me extra for coming back out to treat for spiders. Other companies I've dealt with do not charge extra. Anyway, final straw was that I left a few messages for Zaria, she never called me back. I canceled my monthly service. I used to work in administration for a company with 3 locations and we had a contract with American pest. In my experience they are the worst, horrible customer service, they never send the invoices on time. Every time I called to make a payment they were very rude.
