The owner of this company was supposed to have called me to let me know he was coming by to do a repair. My landlord instructed them to do so. The owner of the business just showed up without my knowledge. I was outside having a very private conversation and had no idea he was there. When my dog alerted me that something was going on around the corner of the house, I confronted this young man and asked him why he hadn't called or texted me as was requested. He rudely said he didn't have to talk to me. Any business person who operates in this kind of rude, impolite manner doesn't deserve your business. Additionally from what I've seen they are overpriced as well but that is only my anecdotal experience based on quotes I've seen from them. read more

American Water Treatment was great! I called on a Friday, and was serviced the next day. My backwash line was leaking. Our technician arrived on time and quickly identified the problem. He told me the price of each part and how much labor would be before continuing. After finishing the work, he gave me an overview of the system and tested our water for free. The filtration system we had was here when we bought the place and I knew nothing about it. Apparently, one of the filters was for our acidic water (a calcite filter) and it had exhausted it's media. This would lead to corrosion of our copper pipes. Our tech told me I could do it myself and then explained how to do it which, according to him, saved me $300-500! The next day my wife and I tackled it and got it done, easy peasy. Id recommend this company in a heart beat and will be sure to use them again if and when the need arises. read more

These guys are wonderful! The owner, Michael, is very friendly and professional, and always comes out to do repairs and maintenance within a couple of days of my phone call. I've been a customer for 9 years, and this is a company that, unlike many companies these days, still has excellent customer service! Their prices are very compatible, and they won't try to sell you a bunch of expensive stuff you don't need. I live in Sebastopol, where the water quality is very poor, so my water treatment system needs quite a bit of maintenance to keep my water as clean as possible. Well I guess this couple doesn't need the business! We moved into our home a year ago. We have had well and water issues since we moved into our home. We have iron issues that are ruining our fixtures. We started interviewing water treatment places and found we were getting many different ways of fixing as well as different bids. I called Pace plumbing and this company was recommended. They came tested our water and told us what they thought would be a good solution. We liked Michael, and my husband after speaking with him and asking questions asked for a contract. We were getting excited over starting work. My husband did have some other questions ( this is really complicated stuff and A LOT of money is on the line), instead of answers, I got an email informing us that we aren't a good match for their services. HUH?? I thought AMERICAN WATER SERVICES. Treated water! I am disappointed now we have to look for a new solution. Gee guess if you ask to many questions, they won't bother with you. Don't use their service cause they don't need the business. Hmmm never been rejected by a company before. How lovely us that? read more

If you are getting a new water treatment system, and are getting several bids to do so, get your last bid from American Water Treatment and Colton. We are glad we did! All the other companies that came out left us feeling like we needed some complex, expensive system to simply clean our well water for use in our newly built house and for drinking. Turns out, we believe, the other companies were just trying to oversell us. Colton showed up the day after we called him to ask him to come by to evaluate and suggest a system for us. He promptly got back to us with his estimate/quote for our project after his visit. And after selecting him to do the job, he promptly and professionally got it done. The system he installed has been running smoothly now for over three months and we are filled with gratitude for Colton and his work ethic every time we turn on the tap! Representative of the two review posted for this business, I could give five stars and could give one star, so hence the two stars. First let me say that Michael is very knowledgable about how to improve bad water with a good system. He had always taken time to explain items to me. The downside is I don't maintain my water system very well and needed someone to help me on a maintenance schedule (like a good automotive shop or a good dentist). This company was responsive until recently. For the past two weeks, I called many times for services with no response from the company. Finally, I decided to call daily until I got a response. They finally called me back today to tell me that they would no longer be servicing me. Apparently, I am a "bad" customer due to delinquent payment (But I did pay them) and because I referred them to someone who also had a misunderstanding with the company. Instead of calling us and letting us know their dissatisfaction with us, they blacklisted us with no notice. They say they are dropping us for professional reasons, but they were very unprofessional in communicating with us. Our call to them for service prompted the owners to discuss whether they wanted to keep us as customers resulting in a decision that was not apparent to me until I pushed the conversation. Now that is not my definition of professional. Agree with Ellen that this company doesn't need the business. read more

I live in South Sebastopol, where our well water is notoriously thick with minerals. Over the years, I had tried a few other local water filtration companies, and had nothing but frustration. Thousands of dollars spent, and still we had crummy water. Then someone recommended Michael at American Water, and boy am I glad they did. He conducted a thorough analysis of my water, and the systems I already had installed, and then recommended a very affordable solution. I was very happy that he did not suggest trashing everything we already had, but added a couple of new components, and fixed some of the mistakes that had been done earlier. This saved us a significant sum of money. Since the new system came on line, our water has been running crystal clear. I perform routine maintenance (like filling the salt tank) myself, although they could do that for me if I wanted. When I have had the occasional issue, they have happily helped me on the phone, or by stopping by to take a look. Once a year they come by and do a thorough check up and system refresh for a very affordable price. In my experience, they are courteous, professional, and highly competent. Colton came to try to fix a chronic iron staining problem in our well water system. The existing water treatment system had been installed about 15 years earlier by another well known Sebastopol company and we had always had minor iron staining issues. Unfortunately minor staining over 15 years becomes unsightly and very difficult to remove. I was expecting Colton to suggest a new treatment system. Instead he found a valve that had been incorrectly installed by the previous company. He disabled the valve and also advised me that an additional chemical dosing system that was in place was unnecessary (once more, from the original installation). After a few weeks of careful monitoring I think my iron staining problem has been solved! Great service! I should also add that I had contacted the original company to fix the problem and was told it would take a few weeks. When I called Colton he was there the next day. First class!! read more
