Unexpected people over this Friday evening- took advantage of of a special for entrees (including pizzas) for $50. While it's sad to see the restaurant and nice bar empty due to COVID, the food was first-rate. We had a round cheese pie, fettucine bolognese, rigatona ala vodka and chicken parm. we'll i have to say had a birthday dinner last night there and was very disappointed not only did the food go down in quality, and service. the first time we went there the food was awesome, our server didn't even offer a list of specials. but the quality of food has gone severely down hill. the eggplant parm was tough and chewy smothered in cheese to excess. their sauce is extremely sweet it wasn't the last few times i was there it was more savory. i ordered the same meal i had the first time i was there and it was so not worth the money. read more

Great atmosphere with a nice selection of wines & drinks. Talia our bartender/Server was attentive and informative. I ordered the Fragola Rock which was Tito's , elderflower, lemon, strawberry simple syrup, & Prosecco. What a Delicious drink! My husband and I had the The Short Rib Mac & Cheese , the Filet Mignon Hero with crispy onions, bacon, provolone, truffle butter which came with a side of french fries. We also had the Wedge salad. Not the best not the worst. We had a ton of food, and most of it was average. For a "pie bar" the pies were eh. We had the vodka margherita with prosciutto, it was okay, and the spinach artichoke pie was lacking flavor. The regular and short rib mac and cheeses were amazing though!!!! Other food in our party that received neither praises nor complaints were the shrimp taco (1), lobster ravioli, caesar salad, and chicken parm sandwich with vodka sauce. I use to love this place! I've went with friends and others. But recently I went and made reservations during their slower times. Myself and my boyfriend waited over 20 minutes to be seat when this place was empty. Also people who didn't have reservation just came in and got seated. We asked what was going on they ignored us first. Then again waited saw others get seated so i got up and asked one of the hostess what's going on and this girl "Natalie" or "jessy" since she kept telling other people around us different names. That she had to check with the other hostess where to sit us, as she walks away to sit a walk in. So she comes back and i ask for the manager. She rolls her eyes at me when I ask to sit in the back and yells at me, she is huffing and puffing and making hand gestures the entire way to the back of the cooking area. So this cook from the back shows up. He looks extremely under the influence and claims he is the manager. The hostess is laughing and giving me a smirk. The "manager" listened to what i explained and i have worked in a restaurant for many years so i know rules and guidelines. The "manager" just offers me a drink when i could have been underage. My boyfriend was only 20 so clearly his mind must have been else where since from what i can observe is that he was clearly stoned. So we get seated and now this hostess is telling all her co- workers and everyone is looking at us. Our server Michael was great but the others kept looking and pointing and laughing. Our food was cold, we didn't have plates. We couldn't eat our food fast enough to get out of this place. Let's start by saying I've been to Americano roughly around 7 times since they opened a few weeks ago. Excellent food ... so far my favorite is the short rib pasta! I have also tried the lobster bisque which has a nice amount of lobster in it and not just a cream with flavoring like a lot of places. The chicken parm is also very good with a nice tender cutlet. There's a big variety of pizza's to chose from I have only had the basic ones so far and they have all hit the spot. My favorite drink would be the Fragola Rock ... and I personally don't like the taste of many drinks. I usually stick to non-alcoholic beverages but not when I'm at the Americano. Prices are great no complaint there. The owners are very nice and are always around if you have any questions. I really recommend stopping by .... I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

Love this place! Food is delicious... ALL of it. Went again on Saturday night. We have gone a few times now and have tried a lot of different dishes, short rib sauce over pasta, calamari, salads ( LOVE the Cobb),ala vodka, salmon, ... and the drinks are great too. Our waitress was wonderful, wish I could remember her name. The hostess Tara was so friendly and fun, we enjoyed talking with her!!! We went to Americano Pie Bar last night, and we could not be more delighted with cuisine, staff, service, and ambiance. We sat at the very large bar and were served by Ryan the bartender. We enjoy the cocktail specials and He is an outstanding bar tender and mixes his drinks perfectly. I had a whiskey Sour and my wife had the 'fragala rock' cocktail and they were perfect. I appreciate when a bar/restaurant makes its only sour mix and other cocktail mixes from scratch and at Americano, everything is made in house for their drinks. So if you like good cocktails, Americano is the place, and on top of that, the prices are very fair for their drinks. next we had one of the brick oven Neapolitan pizza's as an appetizer. It was perfectly crispy and made with fresh mozzarella and basil, but you can have it made pretty much anyway you like. For the entree, I had the grilled chicken bruschetta and my wife had the porcini filet mignon with which is rigatoni, filet mignon, spinach, in a porcini cream sauce. Both were tasty and done to perfection. As for ambiance, its a brand new restaurant, just opened about a month ago. All high quality furnishings, beautifully decorated, even with a cocktail sitting area, and to cap it off right, they play all the classic Italian-American songs, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Rosemary Clooney, etc. It made the evening. So if you want good drinks, see Ryan the bartender, but in all cases go to Americano for great Italiano food with a flare. read more

Food & ambiance are great - service is ALWAYS slow - have tried many times but they just can't seem to get the service right... sometimes it's the kitchen (entrees coming out 10-15 minutes apart) & sometimes it's the servers (waiting 25 minutes after finishing our meal to be approached again & not bringing parm cheese for pasta dishes) stick with happy hour or takeout. This is my new favorite restaurant!! Went here with the boyfriend, what a wonderful time. The hostess was so friendly sat us right away on a Saturday night at around 745 without a res but did tell us that she would recommend making a reservation if we liked everything and wanted to come back as for the weekends get very busy. We already have reservations for next Friday! Our server was great and attentive and really really nice. I want to say her name was Brittany. We ordered apps (troffollini & fried calamari) fantastic!! My mans got the steak and I got the Firenze pasta. Tara the hostess/manager was prompt to come over as soon as we got our food made sure everything was superb and introduced herself, if there was anything we ever needed. Meh. Definitely fortunate that they're not located in New York City with real quality Italian spots or they'd be out of business in a month. After denying a simple request to substitute eggplant for chicken on one of their sandwiches I assumed it was because they had some sort of high standard and wouldn't run the risk of substituting an ingredient. However, the food is absolutely bland and generic. I probably make better sauce at home and again compared to actual real Italian restaurants/pizzerias in the city limit it they're totally lacking. The tap beer was flat ,tried 2 different beers both flat,we weren't sure of the portion sizes so we started with some apps ,apparently the waiter wasn't happy that we didn't put an entree ' order in so he bolted away without a word ,there was a large party of about 20 - 25 people at the next table and we had the same waiter ,we put in our entrees,food came pretty quick but we noticed other tables were getting bread ,we were told it would be out shortly and they were baking it fresh,people arrived 30-40 minutes after us at the next table and they got bread,we had to ask again ,finally at almost the end of the meal we got it but no oil to dip like all the other tables got , the only thing they weren't shy about was the Bill ,we had to recruit the bus boys and other staff to get drinks and bottled beer , the same owners own Trento in Farmingdale,I was very disappointed and don't think I will return,and one other thing is on their website Peroni is listed as one of their draft beers but that is not the case ,I can't stand when you go to an Italian restaurant and they don't carry Italian beer read more

Food is good, probably won't go on a Saturday night again. Service was slow and forgot our appetizer did give us free dessert, but had very little choices. All staff very apologetic but hubby was getting anxious (not very good at waiting). Dinner, had ravioli, was great and the Oreo cheesecake was good so food was wonderful. read more

I live in the area and have wanted to check this place out since the reopening/renovation. "Pie Bar" in the name sells this place short. The dinner menu is extensive with many options for apps, sandwiches, pizza and entrees. Also a solid cocktail, wine and craft beer list. We had baked clams which were fresh and perfectly cooked. My wife had skirt steak and I had the short rib and rigatoni pasta. Both great choices. Service was fine. Molly our server made sure we were well taken care of. The pasta and pizza are great, a lot of variety. It's a shame that they don't seem to be able to control their thermostat. I'm here on a January night and the AC is blasting on top of us, and made all of our entrees cold in 10 minutes, and had us really uncomfortable. We mentioned it a couple of times and they shut it off, only to have it blasting 5 minutes later both times. Amazingly inept for such a nice looking place with great food. Nice ambience. Waiter was nice...as well. Took forever to get our food....We wanted to ordered steak but they didn't have the one we wanted....we ordered tartare and it never came. Mashed potatoes tasted like it was from the box from the supermarket and was microwaved warm. Risotto was eh. We also ordered dessert as well. Cannoli was probably the worst Ive ever had. We went September 4 around 7:30. We wanted to sit by bar, but it was crowded. While we were thinking of what to do a very nice bartender came around and asked if we would like a drink. We declined for the moment and then went to hostess to ask to sit in booth. She sat us 3 tables from her podium. A very nice busboy came poured water asked how we were and left. Then that's were it fell apart, i made a comment to my wife that when ever we came here it seemed like kids are running the place. We sat there for 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging us as we watched several servers walk by laughing and having a good time. Finally i said to my wife they obviously do not care about out business so we left to go to another establishment. As i walked by the podium one girl was on her phone texting and the other just standing there. i am not sure what there responsibility is, but if i was the owner i would hope that they are watching the room. How they can not notice the only booth/people in their sight were not be served is beyond me. We have been here several other times and unless we sit by the bar the service is not up to standards and their never seems like someone is in charge. read more

We live locally and my wife and i really do enjoy it here. its such a welcomed addition in islip. Really nice bar with very friendly bartenders. upscale but not snobby. They make a nice drink and pour a nice glass of wine in a nice glass. Food is very good.. my two favorites are the lobster ravioli and the short rib rigatoni. We tried Americano last night and really enjoyed it. The ravioli are made fresh daily so I had to try them. I had the baked cheese version and they were really good. I had a house salad on the side with a creamy balsamic dressing and was not disappointed ! My fiance had chicken parmesan with pasta and he loved it. First time we were here the experience was okay so we decided to give it another shot. This time can only be described as embarrassing. It's hard to walk into a dead bar and stand there for 10 mins not being served but somehow that just happened. The bartender apparently found her conversation more riveting than serving two potential customers. Bar was filthy as were some of the seats but apparently the bartender was too busy to realize along with the hostess who was too busy face down in her iPhone. Where was management? read more

Last night I had dinner for the first time in this establishment. I had the chicken burger with provolone cheese, tomatoes and lettuce. It also came with fries which tasted awesome. Washed it down with ginger ale. I will come again and will highly recommend this place when you are in town. read more

I have always been a big fan of Americano. I live nearby. order takeout and go to dinner there at least three times each month. We took another couple there tonight and had an embarrassing expert. Our dinners took over 40 minutes to come to the table. That would have been fine but we were reminded about the time limit at the table. I was so embarrassed. We ordered drinks, appetizers and dinner. Waiting 40 minutes for dinner was not our fault. The waitress came over twice to apologize for our long wait so I was shocked when she reminded us about the table time limit. I have supported every restaurant on Main Street in Islip because I value their business and know how they have struggled during the last 8 months. But if the kitchen takes 40 minutes to put a Big Mac Pie on the table please do not fault the customer. I understand the purpose for the time limit but please do not blame the customer. read more
