All the staff were extremely kind, especially Wendy - who was very patient with me and what seemed to be a somewhat complicated situation. This is absolutely the worst place ever totally unacceptable had a 5 o'clock appointment. Finally get to see a Doctor Who I have to see virtually because there isn't even anyone Doctor there. I get in at 6:15 and because they stopped taking clients no doctor picked up my appointment and it is now 6:45 and I'm just walking out not being seen. The system is horrible. I'm sick and tired of hearing. I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry you need to come up with a better system. I have been a client here for 20+ years and I will never ever come back. This had been our America's Best location of choice because of professionalism issues we had with the Hudson, NY location. When anyone has appointments, we drive nearly 50 miles from Stockbridge, MA. Today, our daughter's appointment was at 11:15 and we were on time for it and we've sat and watched as people who arrived after us have been seen before us. The tech keeps moving latecomer's charts to the front and calling them to be seen and now we've been here for over an our. My wife brought the issue to their attention and was told, "we're taking everyone in order when clearly they aren't. Now everyone's irritated and frustrated. Maybe it's clear evidence of the fact that no one wants to work, I don't know. I do know that my wife gets along well with most people and always looks for the silver lining and good in people working with customers where I tend to lose my cool. Do not come here unless you have 4-5 hours of free time. Came in for an early morning scheduled appointment hours of waiting with no explanation of the long wait only to find out that I am not actually seeing a provider that is in the office but online. Dont even bother. read more

I just went to this store and received the most amazing service byte entire staff especially the optician, Tracy! My glasses were very damaged (partially run over by a car we think!) and she beautifully fixed the stems to make them fit wonderfully. She wouldn't accept a dime and fixed them quickly with a smile. The Schenectady store is very unprofessional. The gentleman who did my eye tests had a doo rag on his head and was wearing baggy pants. Not all a professional look, and he barely spoke to me as the customer. Then the doctor did my exam over telemed and sent me to the Colonie location to get my eyes dialated because she saw a spot in my eye. However the doctor in Colonie said my eyes are fine, no dialation needed. The Colonie store is alot more professional! read more

Worse customer experience I've had in a long time. I felt demeaned and disrespected. Attitude by clerk extremely disappointing!! If you want a positive customer experience and you want to save 60% on your frames & lenses go to a store that will be friendliest & respectful across the street!! so. this is for the Americas Best on Balltown rd. Schenectady NY My children went to another Americas best the previous appointmen. they did not use eye insurance ect. when I went in this time we have eye insurance and I called previous to going in and also called my insurance company to verify cost. we are on a budget this is very important to me. When we went in we were brought right in and we went through some pre exam tests and saw the Dr. Who was wonderful and was even very aware of cost. We were then directed out for that my youngest son could be set up for a contact "class" we were there for quiet some time waiting for the people in front of us whom I heard MULTIPLE times say.. "hey we are in a hurry if we can just wrap this up", the gentleman who was assisting them I will say is VERY long winded and I would not usually say something like this but when working closely with people in their I feel this is important, his BREATH was ABSOLUTELY atrocious. I have to push myself back multiple times because of his breath and him leaning into me, I just could not handle it and my two sons commented on it in the car. Once he started going over cost, he started saying that we were charged this charge for retinol scanning. I was never spoke to about this procedure and after the fact was told multiple times it is optional. EXCEPT for the gentleman with the bad breath said ALL Americas best Drs require it. Which later when I called spoke to the assistant manager AND the employee at the other Americas Best where my sons were seen before, all them said this is optional should have been told beforehand. I was told to call on Monday and speak to the manager so she could assist with a rind on this service. When I called Monday morning I KNEW right away the gentleman that answered the phone was the gentleman who assisted us on Saturday because of his manner, he started asking probing questions and why and I was calling. When I stated I already spoke to the assistant manage, I wanted to speak to the main manager and that was it. He then told me she was out sick and he wanted to know why i wanted to speak to her. I hung up on him. My ex husband had brought my kids in the Prior year for the same appointment and was given the option to deny this testing. AGAIN gentleman at the table said this was mandatory with ALL Americas best Drs. Which was confirmed multiple times not only by other employees of Americas best but also my insurance company. Simply stated by my insurance company if it is deemed a medically necessary exam 9 times out of 10 it will be cover fully but this is not therefore we do not cover this testing. All I'm asking is for my money back for the retinol testing. read more

They were having technical issues that apparently happen sometimes and couldn't run my insurance. They wanted to just run my insurance a few days later but I of course said no because they couldn't confirm I would be covered. Rather than help or even wait for me to call my insurance company to work it out, the receptionist was just super rude and unhelpful so I left. I would strongly suggest a getting your eye care done at a different place. read more

Excellent facility; great staff and Dr. Easy access from routes 5 or 7; ample parking. I was seen exactly at my appt time, as was my companion, and were both out within an hour. Pre-visit testing; Dr visit, and frame/lenses. Their new (since January) and can transfer your info from any other AB location. After the chaos and mismanagement of the other locality, it is a welcome relief to now be seen at the Balltown Rd location. read more
