Im new in the area and needed a hair cut. I turned to Yelp to see who Yelpers recommended. I came across America's Cuts and decided to give them a shot since they have almost 5 stars. I was not disappointed, and was very pleasantly surprised. Its a smaller shop with maybe 8-9 stations. Very clean. Ambiance was good too. Nice music. There were 3 Stylist working...the brothers and a lady. Each and every one of them greeted me. I think they all smiled....but they had masks on...lol. After a few minutes of waiting, one of the brothers called me up. Sorry, I dont know his name. Super nice. Had a great conversation about dogs! He was very thorough. Did not rush at all. Its totally different from the chain hair cutting places. All 3 of the Stylists were very friendly. You can tell by the way they interact with the customers that they have a loyal following. The price was very reasonable. $15 for a mens cut! Chain places charge $20-$30 for a cut that they rush through. I found my new hair cut spot! You need to try this place out! I'll be back. read more

How many 5 star reviews does this place need? I don't know but I'll contribute to this salon's growing collection of them. So I heard so much about Tracy, but Tracy wasn't working today. Never fear, her brother Don was there. Don is very good. My highlights came out a little lighter than we thought but I love it regardless. Seeing the lighter highlights before I couild, he suggested we use some toner and bring up the base color a notch. It turned out fantastic. The man is a master at the flat iron too. I felt terrible for my cooked hair, as it had gone through bleach, hair dryer and flat iron - but damn it looked good. Oh well. I live by the moment, not by 20,000 split ends later. And tonight I'm going to sleep suspended from my ceiling like a bat, in order to preserve the great style he gave me for as long as possible (kidding). Since I moved from Anaheim, I realized how amazing and affordable America's Cut is. I didn't want to risk finding a new spot just because I lived a city or two away. Worth the 7 mile drive (yes that's far for someone who's lazy at times) as opposed to finding a new spot that can possibly disappoint or mess up what I want. I stay loyal and they stay loyal to me! Great place. I actually travel an hour and half to get my hair done at this little salon now. So I'm sold. The prices are super reasonable (highlights for $60, and that's for the whole head) but here's the catcher: GET TRACY. whatever you do, get her. Yes, maybe she doesn't talk too much and so isn't the greatest conversationalist. However, she gets the job done and is good at what she does. And plus, she won't talk to you unless you try and talk to her. She's a human being too. Btw, DO NOT get the other girl. I think it was Amy, but she was meh, and had very little direction or discretion in what she was doing. I believe Tracy's brother does the cuts, and she does the coloring. We all have long thick hair and we tell her exactly how we want our hair and she does it. The prices are super reasonable and she also styles hair if you want it. Sometimes you get way more than you pay for. i was a walk in and had Don cut my hair. Andrew cut my sons hair. both did a fabulous job. i did not have my hair blown out and styled. when i got home i did that myself. at the salon it always looks good. its after you shower, dry and do your hair at home when you see what kind of job was done. i didn't even have to curl my hair. just a flat iron showed me how great of a job be did. i have my new hair stylist. $23 for both me and my son. so you get WAY more for your money. i love happy surprises. UPDATE: I had Don Color my hair. My husband and I love the color. At first I questioned it only because my normal colorist did it very differently. But the longer I had the color Don did, the better it got. Now my hair has about an inch of growth and I have to go back. $50-75 for a color and highlight. So WORTH IT! Love Don! read more

Asked for a 1/2 to 1 1/2 fade on the side and the lady cutting my hair didn't understand a word I said. She went on to just shave my head all 1/2.. ended up shaving the top of my head too. Then, Don, the only guy who spoke English tried lying and telling me the sizes are too similar to tell when I've been getting the same haircut for 10 years. Never going back. Rude customer service. I don't think I've regretted trusting Yelp's reviews as much I did today with America's Cut! When your intuition tells you it's too good to be true, trust your own intuition! I came here with my daughter and fiance on a whim. My fiance got his hair cut from a male stylist. I am going to assume he is Don. He actually did a nice job on my fiance's hair, granted there is not much hair to cut. If I only rate on him, I'd give him 4 stars. My daughter got Amy and I thought it was safe since Amy has gotten rave reviews here. I sat on the other side so I could see Amy cutting my daughter's hair from the mirror. My jaw almost dropped seeing how much hair was chopped off! She took off about 3 inches in length but the top layer (shortest layer) was cut off at least 12 inches!! OMG! When it was done, she didn't even bother blow drying her hair. We were not sure why. There couldn't have been a communication problem since both my daughter and Amy speak fluent English. I asked my daughter if she wanted her hair layered that much, she said 'I told her I wanted some layers and to make it look nice. I thought she is the hair stylist so she should know how.' I could tell by her look that she didn't like her hair cut at all. Once she got home, she went straight to the shower to wash her hair. She tried to blow dry/style her hair. But when she came out, she said 'I hate my hair. It's so choppy'. I was afraid to say anything more. I called my regular hairstylist right there and then and made an appointment for Wednesday to get her hair fixed. I had my hair colored by Hanh (sp?). Once she washed my hair and I came back to the seat, I could see the 'mask' around my hairline. This is worse than my own home coloring. I was going to also get a trim. But after seeing how Amy botched my daughter's hair and having a mask around my hairline, I told her to just give me a quick dry (I didn't want to spend any more time in that place). I left with my hair still wet. The hair color smells really gross and is giving me a bad headache all night. Thank god it's a long weekend and I have no plan to go anywhere. I can also work from home for the next couple of days until the mask is washed off eventually! There is a reason why this place is so cheap. The female stylists cut hair the very old fashion way, by making vertical cuts, thus the layers are very heavy and choppy. They do not know how to feather hair to lighten it. They only know the very basic haircut techniques. If all you need is a very simple cut and you don't mind heavy layers, this place might suit you fine. Just to be fair, I would recommend this place for guy's haircut. He is the only reason why this place even gets 1 star! As for ladies, come here at your own risks. If you don't have time to read this whole review, I feel that along with my 1-star rating (would be ZERO) and this key phrase: "WHAT WAS I THINKING?" that you'll be more than well-equipped with the information needed to STOP, HIT THE BACK BUTTON and never think about coming here again. Save yourself the pain in the butt. But for those who really want to know, here it goes, all or nothing... I was in desperate need (in my opinion) for a new hair cut and I researched long and hard for something uber cheap (ten dollars) that also came with great reviews. This place had a large number of reviews and still had a high rating, so I gave it a shot. But now, I am here to give it a Would-Be-ZERO star rating, in attempts to lower the score as dramatically as possible and to warn people who really consider what they do with their hair: DO...NOT...GO HERE. Let me tell you why as I elaborate on my experience.... I went in to America's Cut, after reading up on it, and took everyone's advice to ask for Tracy. She wasn't there, so I got Don, the other person everyone was raving about! When I got in, he looked super nervous like he had no clue what he was doing. My hair WAS really long and straight, so it could have been intimidating, I guess?? But as a hair stylist, I'd hope he could handle it.... So I sit down and, get this, HE DOESN'T EVEN STRAIGHTEN OUT THE PART. That's right, it was crooked from driving there with the windows rolled down and he started snipping away at it anyway!!!! What does that mean? It means that A.) when I part my hair at home, it will have to be in the exact position it was when Ding Dong made the cut ... And B.) That he is not professional and in FACT *doesn't* know what he is doing. (I gave him a fair chance, people.) So anyway, seeing this, I immediately started freaking out inside. But I kept it cool. I knew that if I showed any sense of fear, it would make him more nervous than he already was, and I did not want that. So I nonchalantly acted as though I had changed my mind and said, "You know what, why don't you just give it a trim." He seemed relieved but he still had no clue what in the H-E-Double chop sticks he was doing. But to be fair (and somewhat over-considerate), I just let him continue to see what would happen...(Come on, 10 dollars for a hair cut? It was worth the risk to see if this could possibly end a little brighter, and after all, my hair was really long, so I felt I had a few inches to spare if he destroyed my hopes (which he did)). So, this went on for about a few minutes while I watched him very carefully. At one point he abruptly stopped and said he was done....???? I took a look... ...only to discover that one side of my face had hair chopped like an upside-down stair case while the other side was sheared like a feathery, crescent moon. I kid you not. It doesn't end there. Not ONLY was it a cut suitable for Rihanna (on a bad day, I'll give her that), but one side was noticeably longer than the other....Arrrrr! So, since I was already sitting there, and probably going to pay *someone* ten dollars for what they *claim* to be capable of doing, I calmly pointed out that one side was longer than the other and asked him humbly to trim the jagged, stacked-box looking cuts. There was no rude remark or attitude on my part at this point (again, I couldn't be rude because he was in fact the man I was entrusting my hair with...). But no matter WHAT I would say he actually had the nerve to INSIST it was even! I almost had to twist his arm to have him trim the long side. It was like I was arguing with my mother! And at one point, another girl-stylist walked by and gave me the nastiest look I've ever gotten in a hair-salon. That's right, looked down upon FOR ASKING MY STYLIST TO STYLE MY HAIR HOW .... I ASKED HIM TO.... ? That doesn't sound like something that was invented yesterday. I could've cried. I had no intentions of making someone feel bad about their job, but when they wouldn't do their job, the one I am paying them to do, what else was I supposed to do but ask him to fix it????? Seriously. So after about ten minutes of going back and forth, showing him that one side was clearly hitting my cheek and the other was under my jaw line, I just got up, dropped my ten dollar bill on the front desk, said thank you and went and bought my own hair-cutting scissors to fix it my self (another 8 bucks)! Trust me, it was very hard to give them my ten dollars! But to make matters worse, my 10-year old cousin was watching the whole ordeal and I wanted to make a good role model for her: That when you decide to get a hair cut at a place with supposedly good reviews (I have a strong hunch that several of them are made by the guys who work there), then you made the decision to do it and you should still pay the price after all. Hopefully it will show Don a thing or two about the Grace of God: Ya got paid, Don, even though YOU SUCK! Hahaha. AGAIN, WHAT WAS I THINKING!?? 0_o read more

Yelp, you've let me down. How is it that there are so many positive reviews? This place was a real let down. Tracy cut my hair and she was just really quick about it. No conversation, no small talk, just cut cut and done. Cheap, but as another Yelper said, you get what you pay for. The cut was horrible and uneven. I went home and my husband had to even out the sides and get rid of the fly aways in the back. Also, I had to wait nearly an hour even though I made the appointment the day before. I know that things can get busy at the last moment, but 45 minutes is really unreasonable. Maybe they should keep their business on a walk-in basis only. read more

This salon is the reason I made a Yelp account. *DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE GOING TO GET HIGHLIGHTS FROM ANN OR AN OMBRE FROM DON* My friend and I came here looking for a change. It would be my 5th time getting highlights so I know what to expect. On the other hand, my friend it would be her first time getting her hair bleached to get a caramel color for an ombre look. So anyway, a lady who didn't speak that much english was doing my highlights. I asked for full head highlights. As soon as she was done she put me under the dryer. Normally, I thought they would put the color after highlighting then put me under the dryer. So when I tried to explain it to her she said "ok ok" but put me under the dryer anyway. I'm thinking maybe they do things differently here. So I go along with it. After she's done I looked at my hair and I wanted to cry. I left the salon with my hair still wet. About my friend, Don is doing her Hair. He's the only guy in the salon. He's bleaching her tips to lighten it up to the caramel color. Then he puts her under the dryer. Another customer walks in and Don gives the customer a cut. As my friend is under the dryer, he continues to cut the other customer's hair. He didn't even check the bleaching process to see how the color is turning. So time passes by and he is finally done with the customer's hair cut. He waives at my friend and tells her he'll be back. STILL, not checking on the bleaching process. He comes back 5 mins later and starts to rinse her hair... OMG her tips were BLONDE. See the pictures and judge for yourself. read more

I get my haircut by Tracey. I think she does a very good job for the price that she's charging ($15 + tip). I've been here many times and never had any issues with the cuts. I've also gotten my hair permanently straighten here. It took about 4 hours to do (since I have very thick hair). She also threw in a free haircut. Prices vary depending on your hair length. I thought Tracey did an outstanding job. It has been about 6 months and it is still very straight. My hair is healthy and shiny because I put hair serum on after each shower. It is important to minimize the use of heat products after permanently straightening your hair since it can be very fragile. read more
