This is a quaint hidden gem in Garden Grove! I came here on a whim, just found them on Yelp. Frankly it has been like 5+ years since I got my hair done in the salon because I can maintain it at home and I get frustrated with salon wait time and pricing. I was hoping to get a new style and some highlights, possibly balayage done, and I didn't want to pay an arm and a leg for it. Thoa was so warm and kind on the phone - when I said I just wanted to walk in, she was willing to accommodate me quickly. When I got there I saw that it was simple, well kept, clean. Thoa was friendly and attentive to my inspo pictures. You never know how a new stylist will work, but from the moment I sat down she told me she could do my hair like some of the pictures and she effortlessly went to mix the colors and immediately went to work on my hair. I swear she is a total pro! No hesitation in her movements - she knew exactly what she was doing...she could do this in her sleep! She easily touched up my roots and put in my highlights with impeccable skill. Then after the washout and blow dry (sweet Kim helped too) she quickly trimmed and shaped my hair and gave me the cutest curtain bangs! When I got up from the chair I felt like a model! i'll be honest and say that i probably wont be coming here after visiting for the first time. they accept walk ins and i came 2 hours before closing. all i wanted was a simple hairdo. i was going to a concert and wanted to pamper myself. it was a simple half up hairdo with curled ends. the lady that helped me was honestly pretty rough with my hair which i didn't really appreciate since my hair isn't the most healthiest after dyeing it. i also noticed she had sat me down and there was hair all over the floor from the previous guest. it wasn't very cleanly and i wasn't too happy trying to step around it. she was doing everything i didn't ask for and i was kindly telling her how to do my hair. it seemed she was doing what she thought looked nice, not what i asked for. also did not style my bangs well at all. anyways i didn't feel great about the hairdo and ended up doing my own hair. i still tipped out of respect, even though i wasn't content with my hair. i visibly wasn't satisfied and the lady that helped me was saying how pretty i looked and that my hairstyle looks so good. i did not in fact feel pretty nor good about my hairstyle. i was charged $50 for a wash and a hairdo i had to guide my stylist about. read more

Absolutely traumatizing experience. Booked a 430PM Friday appointment with Thoa. Showed her a clear inspo photo and she confirmed she could make it happen. During the many bleach sessions, it burned my scalp. I was literally crying from the pain. She kept saying "it's fine" while my head felt like it was on fire. She also hacked off a huge chunk of hair, way shorter than discussed and said "free haircut". Final color? UGLY, Brassy, patchy yellow. It was not a decent color, let alone close to the inspo pic. Her excuse? "Your scalp is too sensitive"!!! No apology. No refund. Still charged full price. She Told me she did nothing wrong and it looked good to her. Then rushed me to make a decision to tone it down or not because she was going to close now (6pm) -- like I'd trust her again? I'm furious, in so much pain, and completely devastated. I've been to Lovely's Salon twice now- once for a haircut and highlights (which lasted 6 months, super natural grow-out and easy maintenance) and once for a haircut and balayage touch up on top of the old highlights (pictured). I'm absolutely in LOVE with the balayage and have gotten tons of compliments. The entire process took less than 1.5 hours as well, including the blowout. Found Co Thoa from Yelp and she fit me in her schedule next day. She was very nice communicating via text even before meeting and very nice in person. I used a box dye that only lightened my roots. She had to bleach my brown-black hair a couple rounds and then dyed it into the light-medium brown color that I showed her in photos. The end result was exactly as I wanted. I have never loved my hair as much as I did after Co Thoa cut and colored my hair. In early December, I found her salon and had her do my hair for the first time. Before then, the only place that I liked that did my hair was in Korea in 2019. Co Thoa cut, bleached, colored, treated, shampooed, and styled my hair with ease, explained the whole process to me, and was super kind and accommodating. She and Co Kim even stayed after their hours just a bit to make sure my hair was perfect, to which I appreciated so much. I love that I can easily have conversations with them both during my visits. This last time I went, I just wanted to cut my hair because my hair had grown long and was annoying to deal with (my hair naturally gets tangled easily, but she offered to tone and treat my hair before my vacation so I said why not? I didn't have enough cash but Co Thoa said she'd do my hair, wait for me to come back with more cash, and we did just that! She cut, toned, treated, shampooed, and curled my hair -- she was super attentive, accommodating, and efficient. She asked questions, knew exactly what I wanted, and performed just that! It was my first time toning my hair so I didn't really know how it would go, but she made it look absolutely amazing. Somehow in artificial and dim lighting, my hair looked ash blonde and was more beautiful than I thought I'd look in that color. In natural and brighter/warmer lighting, my hair had streaks of golden brown. I don't know how she did that but she's a wizard and I love it. Her salon is also always so well-kept and clean, including the bathroom. Co Thoa makes me feel welcomed and styles my hair in a way that makes me more confident ahout my self-image. I had the worst experience at this salon today. My hair was already damaged when I went in, but they managed to make it worse. What's frustrating is that they could have been honest and told me my hair might not hold up during the process and for me to do a haircut only. Instead, they reassured me the entire time that "everything looked fine," even though it clearly wasn't. Near the end when they were blow-drying my hair, I noticed it looked super short, thin, and blotchy. That's when it hit me that I'd been gaslighted into thinking my hair looked good this whole time. Their sudden shift to being overly nice and showering me with compliments felt off, especially compared to how quiet they were earlier. It felt shady how they were acting. They were trying to sugarcoat things and distract me from their mistakes. For instance, they kept asking me about my skincare but for them to mention it so many times makes me feel stupid now that I found out they ruined my hair. When I expressed my concerns, they dismissed them, insisting my hair wasn't damaged and claiming, "We might have cut it too short." The color was a disaster. My hair had blotchy red ends, despite their earlier reassurances that they had "gotten rid of the red." I realized later that their repeated cutting was an attempt to remove the red ends, though they claimed it was because my hair was "dead." The result? My hair is now choppy, uneven, and much shorter than I wanted, barely reaching my shoulders. They kept fluffing out my hair, likely trying to hide the sparseness and the fact that the top of my hair looks balding. Adding to the absurdity, they offered to curl or straighten my hair afterward, even after all the damage it had already taken. I was already terrified watching them blow-dry my hair on high heat--I didn't need them making it worse with more heat styling. They kept lecturing me about how box dyeing hair at home was terrible and damaging. Yet here I was, sitting in their chair while they damaged my hair just as badly, if not worse. For a professional salon, this was unacceptable. When I told them I didn't like it, I was in tears. I felt completely empty and lifeless, even as they tried to reassure me. I didn't react or say anything back because I was so upset and lost. They offered to add toner to fix the color, but by then, I knew nothing could salvage what was left. I cried with a snotty runny nose in the salon chair, in my car, and on the way home--and probably will again whenever I look in the mirror. The process itself was sloppy and uncomfortable. Bleach and treatments dripped onto my face into my eyes and mouth and clothes because they soaked my hair instead of keeping it damp. For a salon with such high Yelp ratings, I'm baffled at the lack of professionalism. I had shown them an inspiration picture multiple times, but the final result was the complete opposite. I came in wanting lighter, healthier-looking hair, and I left with darker or almost the same color, choppy, over-processed hair. A waste of time. It's so bad I feel ashamed to take photos or be in family pictures during the holidays (I'm heading to Hawaii for Christmas and Maryland for New Years to visit my sister). This was supposed to be a time of celebration, but instead, I feel lost, depressed, and incredibly insecure about my appearance. To anyone considering this salon: Don't be fooled by the high ratings or cheap prices. The quality is not there, and honesty from the staff is clearly lacking. My once long hair is now unrecognizable, and I'll be dealing with the aftermath for who knows how long. Ending the year with the worst hair of my life and starting the new year with it as well.
