Okay, so I normally go to a regular barber(See my Strait Up Barber) review. It was Saturday and I called my normal barber and they were being dicks and crying about how they close at 5.....I'm like oh my......you're like barber dudes this is too much whine for me. I really needed a haircut today though. I did a Yelper zip code sweep and it brought up this place. I thought shoot, 19 reviews 5 stars. I called them and asked "Are you open?" no whining, crying just a "come on in." You know that Jack Nickleson movie where he needs the same waitress or he strokes out and has to drop a buttload of Valium? I have that same condition. It gets really bad when I try a different hair artisan. I ended up with Amy. A short Vietnamese lady who started off with a bit of an attitude because of my tendency to explain everything in my normal manic, slightly sweating Woody Allen-esque circular candor. Things loosened up as it appears she knew exactly what it is I wanted. We talked a little about Pho and compared how many days we each worked, Not a lot of chitty-chat.....and I like that. For $10, Amy gets an A for a very solid and hip cut. I use to come here when it was Don's Barber. Heartbroken over his passing from Covid. Was going to supercuts on Katella/Brookhurst but they closed. So glad to come back to some real barbers. I get my cut from Andrew and love how clean my cut and edges look. Very professional and friendly staff. If you are looking for the traditional barber who can do it all, come here. Used to love this place. Great price, great people with a good job on my hair. Until I went about three months ago. There seemed to be a line of people waiting so I asked them how long it would take? I was in a rush to get some errands done. I was told "20 minutes" which was a completely acceptable waiting period. Except 40 minutes later and the same people who were getting their hair did were STILL sitting down and nobody new was on a chair. AND there were 4 people still waiting for their hair cut/do, etc. So I just got up and left. I didn't think it was necessary for me to tell them I was leaving, they surely could have figured out that I had left. I went in about 2 hours later as my errands had been finished and two main people (Don and Tracy) refused to acknowledge my existence. Whatever, they must be mad that I left, surely they'll get over it? Nope, I went twice afterwards and they still will look at me and walk away and have one of the "other" people do my hair from here on out. No thanks. $10 used to go a long way, but if I have to question what they're saying as they all glare at me and speak in Vietnamese, I'll go somewhere else. Let me just say "not happy". I got this haircut my Tracy. She styled my hair so I didn't see the mess I was left with. My niece straightened my hair and took a picture. This is how I found out how bad the hair cut was. I had to go to a different place and get a very short hair cut to fix this mess.. I will not go back. I did a quick lookup on yelp to find a place for a nail salon. This place popped up and I haven't had a haircut in ages, I think almost a year. Anyway, I decided to check this place out from the reviews. I was skeptical at first because of the store front, but I said to myself fuck it, it's just hair and gave this place a try. Kathy cut my hair wet, then dried it out and did another scan over to make sure everything was even. While she was blow drying, she asked if I'd like to have it straightened. I went with it. Then, we got to talking a bit more and she mentioned how she loves long hair with curls. She seemed excited to try it out with my hair so I let her do that instead of straightening. Don is the only male hairstylist here(as far as I know), and he does a fantastic job of cutting my hair every time. My family has been coming here for years, and always remembers to ask about them(since I go on my own time). The haircuts are only $10 and it includes a shampoo, at this price it's definitely worth going there since other chain hair salon places charge your $20 for a cut. Don is professional, polite and well spoken. He knows how to cut and style men's haircuts. I used to go to expensive salons as well like Tony & Guy, as well as Crew(in Costa Mesa). At America's Cut, Don provides the same quality, friendliness and engagement as these high end salons, which keeps me coming back. I hadn't cut my hair for over a year and love my long locks but hate how damaged it was. To be honest I was a bit nervous to come back to America's Cut because I "disappeared" on my hair lady Tracy...what will she think? Will she remember me? Will she tell me how damaged and discolored my hair is? Ahh, oh well. I walked in on a Wednesday afternoon and Tracy came out with a pleasant hello Marilyn! She was friendly as always and listened to everything I asked her to do. I wanted to keep my hair long, cut off my split ends and add more layers for a rocker look. I LOVE LOVE LOVE how my hair turned out... it feels so soft and manageable. I wish it always looked and felt this good! My hair cut was only $15 and I tipped $5. BEST $20 SPENT EVER. I was in desperate need of a hair cut one Sunday morning. My normal place was closed on Sundays. So, I decided to YELP it. I'm sure glad I did. America's Cut was great. Asian owned it reminded me of a more modern SuperCuts. I called to see what time they opened and they just opened at 10am. I got into my car went to the bank and arrived. They took me immediately. Ha was you hairstylist. She was very sweet and polite. Never told me that my hair was dry or I needed this or that done. It was a basic cut, but this time I got bangs which I haven't gotten in years. She did a great job. I also had an eyebrow waxing...good job too. I would go back there again. I've been to many salons in the past from the fancy high end ones in Westwood; Santa Monica; Anaheim Hills and the independently owned ones in Irvine. There's nothing bad I can say about this place. Every time I've gone here to get my hair cut (different people every time), it is BETTER than the LAST TIME! No joke, I don't even know how to properly phrase this, but this place is THA SHIT! I always refer people here. After reading all these reviews, I decided to give it a try. I was in dire need of a hair cut. I went in and Amy was there, there was no wait so I was lucky to get there just after they opened. She did a tremendous job. I've had, on more than one occasion where a few strands are not cut, or the cut is uneven. Amy checked over and over to make sure there were no hairs out of place and that every layer was perfect. She even gave me some tips to care for my hair! For shampoo, cut, and straightening, I paid $20 plus tip. She quoted me a very reasonable price for highlights, well under $100 and i have medium-long hair. I will definitely be back! I have been with Tracy for a good 5 or 6 years now and moved with her from Creations Salon in Anaheim to her new shop America's Cuts. Tracy is an outstanding stylist and she charges AMAZING prices. A whole head of highlights, some color, a cut and style is about $70-$90 on my LONG hair. If I'm just getting a touch up (which I need right now) and a cut and style it's about $60 or so. AC is located in a shopping center with I belive an Albertsons or something. Now, I walk in, the guy asks me how I want my hair cut, I say, "Short," and after me mumbling through what I think I want, he says: "You want it spikey?" I say, "Why not?" Badda bing, badda boom. She booked me with her brother Dan and let me just say he is just as good! very satisfied with my new summer look. I'm a stay at home mom and their prices are reasonable. Highly recommend this place. I must say you Yelpers are on point. I have read the reviews, so I went there to get a trim a few months back. The lady did a great job. But spur of the moment, I decided to go there yesterday. The past couple of times, I would dye my hair myself (using beauty supply products) but kind of missed having highlights. So, I came in yesterday afternoon and they were busy, but waited anyway (about 15-20min). I knew what look I wanted so I got a partial highlight and a color. I love how it turned out! And especially for the price I will definitely come back! It cost me than my haircut I usually get elsewhere. Note: My normal stylist is in Beverly Hills and I used to get my hair color done in San Juan Capistrano!! America's Cut is right down the street from where I live. They're very nice and welcoming here. Don cut both mine and my sons hair and we loved it!! The thing that stood out to me was Dons character. My son and I were leaving and I noticed a strange guy standing right next to my car. I didn't feel safe asking him to move so we were going to wait in the shop until he left. That's when Don saw us and came over and walked us to my car and made sure we were in the car before walking away. Wow!! How very nice of him. My son and I really appreciated that. This place got a lot of good reviews on Yelp so I decided to go despite the recent string of less than stellar reviews. And after going I can understand why it got some of the lower reviews. The place is well kept and clean and the lady I got was very nice and sociable. I just walked in and didn't have an appointment but it didn't take very long for them to get to me. My problem was that I had asked to simply have 8 inches cut and to have bangs and layers all around added. She instead only cut 6 inches and I didn't get that many layers (for some reason they were mostly located on the front of my face instead of going all around my head...). The bangs were okay. A plus was that she sort of curled my hair (again not exactly as I had asked but it was still pretty decent). My problem was that she charged me for "styling" my hair afterwards even though she used a flattening iron and she only styled it for literally less than than 2 minutes. In my experience they usually at the end style and add some product to help doll my hair up a little bit but I've never been charged for that service. Whereas in this case I was charged extra (with no hair product used). And so I was charged $20 which is a tad bit more than what i would usually pay since I usually pay about 15-17. read more

DO NOT GO HERE EVER!!! I went here to get a straight perm the other day and the whole process went fine. I had to leave early so i left the appointment when my hair needed to be rinsed and straightened but i can do that at home. However, whenever the guy had extra solution left, he plopped it on the front of my hair. A day later, my hairline felt like dried up product. I looked in the mirror to see my hairline was BURNED OFF. It looks like someone shaved it and feels like it. I go feel the rest of my scalp to find the rest of my hair to feel the same...hair to the scalp burned. I go back to get some sort of refund to only have them blame it on me. They felt absolutely nothing wrong and wouldn't touch my hair to see how it was. They only kept telling me that they couldn't see anything. OF COURSE YOU CAN'T BUT YOU WILL SEE IT IN A MONTH WHEN IT GROWS BACK SO UGLY! I spent 200 on my hair because i care about it. And they only came up with excuses and reasons, never admitting they ruined my hair...in the end, they didn't do anything and i lefr crying. I am heartbroken and i wished i had the means to sue them. So I found America's Cut on Yelp, and thought I'd give it a try. I had been looking for a place to get my hair cut that wasn't too expensive, and wasn't too "dive" either... And - I think I found my place! The reviews I read were mostly for a Tracy, but when I got there, there were only two people there - and man and a woman - so I didn't ask any questions or make any requests. (btw - I walked in on a weekday afternoon, and didn't have to wait at all - nice!) The guy cut my hair -and he did a great job! He was thorough and friendly. He was quick, but he double and triple checked everything he did, and I am really happy with the result. He did a shampoo, cut me new, shorter layers, and texturized it (since my hair is wavy). I felt so comfortable that I decided to ask about eyebrow waxing (a MAJOR leap of faith for me - I'm always particular about who touches my brows!). The girl came and did my eyebrows. She was great too! She shaped them just right (a rare find for me!), and it didn't hurt too much either. She was careful, and did a great job - I was SO happy. AND - the BIG kicker for me, was the price!! I have pretty short hair, and I know prices vary, but for me anyway - I got a haircut that I like, and an eyebrow waxing that I love, and spent less than $30 total (including a tip!!) I took a chance and gave Tracy a try.. (I desperately needed color correction and did not wanna spend more $$ than I already have.) As I was walking towards the salon, the place got me a little nervous. I wasn't expecting a fancy place.. I just expected it to be a little more.. idk. But as soon as I walked in, all doubts went away. The place looks a LOT nicer once you step inside. Tracy greeted me politely and asked me what I needed/wanted done. She gave me the BEST solution for my problem (without damaging my hair). I knew I had to go back to dark, but she did it so there was still a little of my highlights still showing. And did I mention that my hair looks SHINIER and HEALTHIER?? I'm so happy with the results. She advised me not to color my hair for the next 3-4 months. I called this salon beforehand to check and see if they were still open (due to covid-19) and the man that answered the phone sounded very nice and assured me that they were still in business and encouraged me to stop by. I asked what time they closed today and he said 7pm and I responded by saying, "thank you, I will see you soon." Once I arrived at the salon, the door was locked. Love Tracey!!! She is good. Not expensive at all (I have medium/long hair, in average I pay $12-$17 for wash-cut-blowdry). I always give her extra tips. Ok, don't expect to get services like $200+ salon in Beverly Hills or Newport Beach. But, I have tried several hair cutters who charged $40+, Tracey cuts my hair better and she never burns my fine hair from too hot blowdryer (happened a lot before with other hairstylers) Haven't tried other services than hair cut though, maybe someday. read more

So I think I have found my new regular hair spot. America's Cut is pretty damn awesome. Besides the fact that it's cheap, but it's a good kind of cheap. The kind that gives you a top notch haircut for well...cheap. Not only that, the staff is super friendly! They will talk to you, but if you do not want to talk, they respect that and just do their job. The only reason why I did not give them a total of 5 stars was because I felt like they take a little bit too long cutting men's hair. I don't mind, but I'm still used to getting my hair cut faster than how they do it here. The quality of hair for the buck is worth it though...but a little less talking next time might get the job done.
